It was a nice experience. Nice, clean rooms, comfortable bed, minimal but very adequate. Like a step back in time. Small, old elevator but it worked just fine. They gave us plenty of good Information about the surrounding area and had car waiting on us to take us to the ship. Coffee shop downstairs was closed but we just walked a short way for coffee. We used to stay here all the time, but now that we're older I just need more comfort, like in room coffee. Downstairs is delicious but annoying to have to get dressed for that first cup, and expensive when you get it. Call me spoiled but I like an in room fridge and microwave, and an ice machine that's not downstairs. I booked a room through booking.com and after booking it I got these messages. One rooms have no AC. I'm not OK with that. Two they don't allow visitors and charge you 12 extra dollars per person no other hotel even the cheapest hotels do that. I get hotels to hook up with my playmates in Seattle or around Washington because I cannot host due to living with a family. And this is bullshit. I will never book with this fucking hotel again. My daughter and I booked adjoining rooms for 3 days in October of this year. Staff was friendly, and the hotel is in a great location downtown. The window latch in my room was broken, so the window could not be shut all the way making it very loud while trying to sleep due to outside traffic. There is no thermostat and at times my room was so hot it was almost unbearable. Front desk staff said they could do nothing about the heat. The major problem was with housekeeping. Things were filthy! And why was there a razor blade on the windowsill? The rooms we booked looked nothing like the online photos! read more

Such a cute place in the perfect location. Loved the art & decor throughout the hotel. It was a vibe. Staff were friendly. They offered a shuttle for 12$ per person to the cruise port but we took a 10$ uber. You only get 1 key per room so you have to leave it at the front desk if your roommates split up. That means waiting in the check-in line every time you return to the hotel. But I would definitely stay here again. We loved it. read more

Absolutely no frills hotel but in the heart of downtown Seattle. In the room you get a plug in fan that's in the closet, a tiny shampoo and conditioner (that don't seem like they come from the same manufacturer) and two slivers of wrapped soap. No Kleenex box and no hair dryer. There are two lights in the room which I didn't like. I like bright rooms. No a/c and no control to the heater in the room. The windows slid up about a foot or so which allowed for good ventilation. Close to a lot of places. There's one elevator that can fit MAYBE 6 people. You can't take the stairs up, but you can take them down. We stayed in room 720 which faced 2nd street. It can get somewhat noisy. For the price and convenience of being within walking distance of H mart and pike place, I'd stay again. read more

Decided last minute to spend the night here on the way to the Olympic peninsula. Last time we stayed was two years ago. They have updated the front of the building in a little bit. Again, we got a room with a queen in one room, and connecting two twins in the other room. It had a mini fridge, which was nice. (Some rooms do, some do not). we arrived at noon;, eventually were able to check in at 3 PM (official check-in is 4 PM). Room was simple, but comfortable. Very quiet this time. No AC, but a fan in each room, which cooled things down. Not fancy, but would definitely stay again for the price ($250 this time). read more

Very unprofessional front desk lady who claimed to be the owner of this hotel when we asked to speak to a manager. We asked a few questions and she replied very rude. I have never experienced anyone treat a guest the way she handled it. We took our business elsewhere and were treated much better at the Pacific hotel few blocks away. As soon as we came to our second hotel we were offered bottle of water right away and the front desk were nicely dressed in black suits and were very friendly. The Moore Theatre and Hotel was built for the tourist surge that would visit Seattle during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition of 1907. Fittingly, it opened with a performance of "The Alaskan," a comic opera. The expo itself was delayed for two more years. In the 1930s hotel rooms without bath cost $1.50 and up; rooms with a bath cost $2.00 and up. [Seattle City Directory, 1930] An Asahel Curtis photograph of the Moore façade shows a sign advertising "Turkish baths for ladies and gentlemen" open twenty-four hours a day. I distract you with this illustrious history because this property has no curb appeal. Don't need put off by the rough, even fearsome, street appearance. Past the lobby (befitting a flophouse scene) the rooms are delightful (and huge). The colorful interior design is soothing and amusing. Our basic en suite room had a walk in closet, bedroom, kitchen, bathtub with claw-foot tub, and combination dining and sitting rooms. The square footage and soaring ceilings are amazing. The bed is a serious win. The room keys that are - wait for it - actual metal keys! A 5-minute walk from the Pike Place Fish Market, the Moore is conveniently where tourists want to be without the cost of marque name hotels. Location, friendly staff, quirky interior design in a historic building, low cost - we love it here! read more

You can't really complain for the price you pay here compared to other places and what you would have paid for what you would have received. Check in process was smooth. Front desk also checks to see if you stay here when you come back late for security reasons. I felt pretty good about that. Our room was small but cozy, it had everything I needed except fridge, which woulda been nice but not necessary for my stay. Shower was tiny, kinda of annoying to get around. Everything in the room seemed clean and in order. There's only one tiny old elevator so in the morning when you check out, be prepared to just haul your belongings down the stairs with you. I love this hotel. The staff was wonderful, our room was basic yet had an old classic touch about it that left you wishing the walls could talk. The long hallways with the velvet curtains left me with haunted goosebumps, and hesitation to walk down them. We stayed on the third floor for three nights and never once saw another person, which we found odd and eerie. Our first night we opened the window a crack to let some air in before going to bed (no air-conditioning). In the morning, the window was wide open. I didn't think much of it and assumed my friend opened it in the night. Day two we left to walk downtown and again, just left the window open a crack. When we came back our window was again, wide open. We had refused room service so I finally asked my friend if she was opening the window. She said "no, but I thought I saw you standing by the window last night, maybe you did it?" I never once got up in the night. Night three we kept the window open wide and in the morning it was closed. I woke up and was dying of heat, so I got up to open it but the window would not budge. It took two of us with all our might to open it to get some air. We were pretty spooked and unsettled by the whole experience. I will also add that every morning I found my clothes from the night before under the table that I kept my suitcase on. (which was in front of said window). I NEVER leave clothes on hotel floors. As soon as I undress, they go right on top of my suit case, or on a table or dresser. On morning number one I wrote it off as maybe too much wine, but realized that was not the case after it occurred again the following two mornings. The feelings that the hotel vibes on you, and the history, you know there are spirits. My personal experience was on day two when we left around noon to hit pikes place. As soon as I took my first few steps down the stair case I saw a blur of a person walking above us, past the stairway railing from the long velvet curtain hall way. I turned around right away, since I had yet to see anyone on our floor, but no one was there. But I swear saw someone and felt the air shift. Now that I think of it, it was probably the ghost going to our room to mess with our window and throw my clothes on the floor. LOL read more

You'll be hard-pressed to find another hotel, downtown Seattle, for less than $175 on a weekend. We had planned on staying just one night, but were lucky enough to get a second night on Friday. We didn't know what to expect when we got here, but we were pleasantly surprised. We were welcomed with a large room, two queen beds, small closet, and a bathroom about the size of the closet. The shower is small, but it still gets you clean. The two queen beds are clean and comfortable. There is a small 32" TV in the room, which looks even smaller because the room is so large. There is no air conditioning, which I already knew. They did put two desk-sized fans in the closet for us to use. Because there is no AC, this wouldn't be a place you would want to be on a warm day, but for most days it wouldn't be an issue. The hotel was built in 1907, so it's old. It hasn't had a lot done to it. You still have to use an actual key to unlock your door and the elevator is tiny. The front desk staff are fabulous. Very nice and helpful. For me, there were more positives than negatives and I would stay here again. read more

Upon entry I was pleasantly greeted by somebody who is working at the front desk. She was really funny and charismatic and gave me some great tips on places to check out on this rainy first arrival in Seattle. She let me check into my room 4 hours early and was super transparent in briefing me about a temporary cash hold that's going to be on my credit card. ** Bonus! I took the train from Seattle airport and the walk from Westlake station to hear it was only seven minutes! + The area is so rich in shops and restaurants, it truly feels like you are in the heart of downtown. My room was located on the sixth floor and it had super tall ceilings, a massive closet, and a cute bathroom. This room wasn't large, but the main window that opened was. It was not hot that weekend in Seattle so I didn't have to worry about not having an air conditioner. This hotel room reminded me of a cute old New York apartment. With the giant heavy wooden doors, big windows and small square footage. The ceilings help to make the room feel a little bit larger. W hen I entered everything was super clean and pristine and the bed was super comfortable. I don't understand how Google gives this place a two star hotel rating. This was not a good experience at all. Where should I start? The overall presentation of the hotel is old and Rundown. We got off our cruise early in the day and the hotel stored our bags while we toured the area. Upon return we checked In and sat, and sat waiting to get our luggage. When asked why we were setting while the staff escorted​ other guest to get their luggage, I was told by a female staff person she had never seen me before in her life. Seemed odd because she had just checked us in. Aside from being old and run down there is a smell of dust. Bathroom fixtures are from the 60 or 70, cracked flooring in the lobby, make shift front desk with a very poorly made old framed window to separate the customer from the staff. Rude service from the front desk. No help with luggage or anything that looks like customer service. The elevator was scary. The luggage cart had a flat tire. Broken toilet, urine stained fabric in the desk chair. I could go on and on. I had to endure this filthy rundown, old dusty place for one night because nothing else was available, but you do not! Take it from me, it's worth a few pennies more to just go somewhere else! read more

Would of gave 3 stars if there was a microwave. There was a small fridge but what's the point unless you survive on liquid! There's no option for zero star. This isn't a hotel, this is a halfway house, or a reverse jail where I was refused access to my room on the basis that the woman staffing the front desk, accused us of housing more than 3 people. She threatened me, telling me after she interrogated me, that I'd better not have more than 3 people in our hotel room. She demanded to see my ID, she pulled out the paperwork where our three names were listed. She argued that we had more than 3 people as she let 3 Asians in and out before I came back to the room. She claimed there were two other Asians (one with blue and the other with purple hair) who came down with my party. How do you explain rationally to someone that there are only 3 of us?!? 45 minutes later, close to midnight, "management" came pounding repeatedly on our door, pounding being a light word. It was meant to threaten the three Asian women staying in the room. The receptionist (that is not what she is) made those accusations to the "manager" and claimed that she kept having to let people in and out from our room. The management guy tried to force his way into the room after we unlocked it but I screamed at the top of my lungs to tell him to get out of the room that I was going to call 911. That must have scared him to step back into the hallway. He said that the staff has every right to refuse service to us. Mind you, we booked this room through Expedia. I can't believe Expedia would do business with such a shady "hotel". Avoid the Moore at all cost, no matter how convenient it may be. It is a filthy place, where guests are not treated as guests but are threatened by white folks thinking they can scare three Asian women traveling alone. And this "management" guy refused to give his name (google him, the manager's name is Mike). I should have taken a picture of him. I should have videoed him threatening us at our hotel room. I won't be sleeping tonight. This is a very unsafe, filthy, worse than a seedy motel. You know where to find me for details. The Moore has ruined a teenager's concert experience, purposely bullying three Asian women traveling alone. Avoid at all costs. Traumatizing. Dehumanizing. Stay away from this place where female Asian guests are treated like vermin, harassed, bullied. Thank god we had our husbands (lawyer and secret service) on the phones. "I am the manager, I have a key and can open this room" dixit this big white male. What kind of hotel management refuses to identify themselves, threatens women, and tries to force himself into a guest room after midnight? I am not sleeping tonight to watch over my family, me a 4'11 Asian woman. And I will continue to gather the facts as "Mary" gave our room number out. This was the hotel I stayed in while I was visiting Seattle. The best part of it is that is located right near Pike Place Market. This is one of those no frills budget hotels that is very dated. In fact, this place was built in 1907! It was perfectly fine for me as a solo male traveler. The place is old, but my room was clean. tldr; best for a short trip near pike place and the seattle center, bring ear plugs and allergy meds pros: friendly desk staff, cool lobby/cafe, working elevator. walkable distance anywhere you want to go downtown. we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. lots of great food options nearby as well. very affordable for the location. no opinion: beds- they were comfortable enough after walking all day, definitely have had a worse bed at a more expensive hotel. small tv, no fridge in room, spotty wifi. we were busy enough that these didn't matter but they might to you. no ac- it's on the website, and they offer a fan. the room feels pretty muggy regardless but it's an old hotel. cons: the room was not clean. there was buildup in the corner of the bathroom, the sink and shower stall (which rooms have tubs?) both fill with water very quickly and drain VERY slowly, the lampshades were bent and stained. there was also a crack in the shower that seemed to have been patched but would've cut your foot if you stepped on it wrong. we stayed for 3 nights and woke up the 3rd and 4th mornings with sore throats and congestion. the vents were coated in lint and dirt, so it seems there is dust buildup if not mold. the walls are so thin- next door one night, a couple was in a screaming match and their baby joined in. we were also able to hear the conversation of a couple two rooms down who had their door open chatting at 5 am. it wasn't a miserable stay by any means but i would rather pay an extra 50-100 a night to stay somewhere cleaner next time. read more

I had high hopes for this hotel as I love old buildings with charm and character but everything from check in to check out was not worth it. Let me say I travel for work so I normally stay in the newer renovated la quintas or older buildings like this one so by no means am I picky. Check in-male desk clerk friendly enough, get up to the room to set the bags down and hit pike place. The door won't lock. I go downstairs to ask for help and he's asking an older woman can he use the other key and she's just not saying anything looking at him like he's dumb. Then she goes on to talk with him in front of me for five minutes before giving him the extra key and meeting us upstairs to lock the door properly. Bad locks, see picture. The room-we got a room with a bathroom in it, sounds odd but there are some that have shared bathrooms. The bathtub is tall, even for me at 5'8" so it's not meant for short people. The SHOWER---was either freezing or scalding hot, no regulator apparently, it did not make for pleasant showers. Small mirror in the bathroom, cracked tiles, dirty tiles, peeling paint. Old curtains, no refrigerator or microwave so don't bring leftovers of any kind. Scaffolding right outside my window, heard that's been up for more than a year, no one working on it and we stayed two weekdays and the weekend. My friend went to ask about checkout since we leave pretty early in the a.m. and the lady was texting on her phone and didn't say anything legit for like a minute until my friend spoke up. There was also someone who went to our room and tried their key, there's no room number directional signs so you have to walk down the hall first to see where you're staying. There was another lady who came running out to ask if we were checking in at the hotel as I was saying goodbye to a friend who moved here in the unloading zone, but she came out and was rude about it which I definitely didn't appreciate as we were just being dropped off. We tried the cafe, the staff in there was friendly and quick service which is the only redeeming quality about this place. We also tried to order from the restaurant around 9 p.m. but they had one server for the bar & the tables and even though there was someone else there folding napkins and cutlery he could have at least been helping her get the food out as she was so overwhelmed. We ended up leaving after 10 minutes. Lastly on checkout which we did at 5 a.m. there was a guy at the desk playing his music loudly, no biggie no one is in the lobby but I handed him our room key, said we were checking out and he proceeds to check out the wrong room, then has us sign both rooms. So what happens when the other people go to check out? We didn't spend a lot of our time in the hotel since we were visiting but needless to say we won't be back again and definitely don't recommend it. we stayed here during our trip to Seattle, which was about five nights. At first glance I thought that it was really cute because it's so classic and it was built so long ago I think it was like 1907. you even get a physical key. The claw tub is definitely a plus. However, the reason why my experience has now become one star is because the hotel room is so incredibly dry that both my and my husbands, eczema and asthma, flaring up like crazy. Additionally, people were really loud slamming doors in the hallways. The absolute worst part was housekeeping, missed us two days in a row, even though we weren't even in the room. We did let the front desk know, and still nothing was done about it. We asked them OK can we at least have towels and they gave us hand towels. How the hell am I supposed to dry myself off with a hand towel. On one night when we got back to the hotel around 9 PM after dinner, nobody was at the front desk even though I tried calling and I had to repeatedly press the buzzer. We were stuck waiting for about 30 minutes before a guy finally let us in. The guy that let us in happen to be a customer that was on his way out so I don't know what happened with the front desk person who was supposed to be there. read more

This was definitely not my best hotel experience. No one was at the front desk when I arrived, so I had to wait to get buzzed in. The bathroom sink pipes leaked whenever I used the faucet. There was no bathtub drain, so I had to use the rubber bathmat in order to use it. My room was very hot despite having a fan running and the window open as far as it would go. The building is super old, so my door was banging around within its frame from the air current coming in. I had to prop my bag up against the door to keep it from making noise all night while I tried to sleep. Definitely don't plan on staying here again. read more

The Moore Hotel was built in 1907 and is conveniently located right next to the Moore Theatre. This hotel offers standard hotel rooms ($92 for one bed or $118 for two beds + tax), suites ($139 + tax), and European style rooms ($72 for one bed or $98 for two beds + tax). I had an European Style room at 7th floor and it has its pros and cons. Pros: Save you about $20~$30. Cons: Communal bathrooms for European Style room. Each floor has two restrooms (one with shower and one without shower) and the restroom without shower has no water sink (you must use hand sanitizer to clean your hands). At least restrooms were pretty clean! Each European Style room has a water sink, a closet, one or two bed(s), and a cable TV. Door knob was a bit shaky and old, but door lock had no issues at all. Unfortunately, I got a room with partially exposed hot pipeline on the edgy side of the wall (see picture below). During nighttime, I could hear random hissing sound from hot pipeline and entire room was somewhat uncomfortably warm (near high 70 F). I had to open the window to re-balance the room temperature because the entire building has no A/C (see FAQ section - http://www.moorehotel.com/faq.html). Tips to make this a 4-stars experience: * I would not recommend European Style room - definitely worth an upgrade to standard rooms or suites. * Hotel has no A/C, but you can get fans at the front desk or open the window up slightly. The biggest reason to stay here is location, location, and location. Two blocks away from Pike Place market, two blocks away from the light rail (the light rail will take you directly to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport), three blocks away from downtown / Westlake Shopping Center and the Monorail (the Monorail will take you directly to the Seattle Center - home of the Space Needle, EMP Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass museum, Pacific Science Center, and Key Arena), and about 1.5 miles away from the CenturyLink Field (home of the Seattle Seahawks). Overall, the Moore Hotel fulfills all the basic needs. If you don't have a car, then I would definitely recommend this hotel - just try to avoid getting the European Style room if you are planning to stay here for multiple nights. If you can live without taking a shower for one day ... then European Style room is your cheapest option (and probably the best value) that you can find in downtown Seattle.
