I didn't like it except for the fried rib. The french fries arenot your normal fries. They are potato swirls and too salty and spicy for me. Everything here taste nasty, cold and salty. Been enjoying Texas Barbecue for most of my life here in Texas and this place definitely doesn't qualify as barbecue it's so bad. How they're still in business is beyond me. The cowboy caboodle is disgusting and they need to kill off that menu item as it's 3 DIFFERENT temperatures on the inside. Meats are SALTY and look unappetizing. The okra was UNDERCOOKED, not to mention the long strand of black hair that was in the greasy brisket sandwich. And a barbecue restaurant that DOES NOT serve baked beans tho?????!!! Yeah ok. The macaroni and cheese is extremely BLAND and gross. The beans they served looked like vomit, the ribs were BAD. Barbecue sauce was nothing more than watery tomato sauce and vinegar. The drinks were terrible as well, I didn't even want to finish it. Keep in mind this is the SECOND time my husband and I have been here and it's even worse than before, and I didn't think that was possible!!!!! I came here for a blogger event that Boasting Boss Babes was hosting. I thought it was really nice of them to cater the event. It was just what I needed after a long day of taking photos lol. But anyways, they came out with trays filled with meat. They had sausage, pork, and ribs. Trey also brought out some BBQ nachos ( this was my favorite). All in all it was a pretty good restaurant. I would go back. Oh and their frozen jack and coke definitely was a home run!!! read more

Nice place near the water...wife and I ordered brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. The sides were really good. The meats were just okay. It was very loud atmosphere, be prepared as it gets going. I've been here a bunch and always enjoy it, but this review is for yesterday. I called and stated I was on my way and needed 5lbs of brisket. Laura said, no prob, we will have it ready for you. I picked it up around 2:15pm to be served around 5pm. Also took with me a quart of pinto beans. They sent me with sauce, pickles & onions, peppers, and bread. OMG, the brisket was literally the best ever. My dad kept saying, "where is this from again? It has such a great Smokey flavor!" I always order turkey when I'm there (also delicious), but if you're ever needing dinner for an important group, in a pinch, this is the way to go! $20 a lb, but it is every bit of worth it. We went to this place highly recommended. Food was really good but such crappy slow non professional wait staff. Drinks take forever food was cold cuz it was late but good! The staff stair at each other and ignore customers. One waiter in particular disappears in the back and forgets he has customers. Visited the restaurant on Saturday. Nice location. Awesome view of the lake. There are also a few other nice places to eat near this place as well - so lots to choose from in the harbor area. Nice open atmosphere. BBQ was pretty tasty. We probably will not go back though for the following reasons - Service was extremely slow. Waitress said the kitchen was backed up and apologized for the long wait. I would suggest that in these situations that the staff be trained to offer customers who have to wait for food some chips, bread, crackers... anything - especially when the customer says "we are pretty hungry so how long will it take?" Also, there seemed to be a couple of different tables taken up by employees. I saw one waiter finishing off a beer before going back to his tables, one waitress brought her dog to work and was hanging out at a table, and a couple others seemed to be just hanging out. Not really a big deal - but as a customer coming in we had to be seated at a really odd placed table on an aisle when there were a couple good tables being used by staff. Does not seem cool to do during buys hours. Also, a very CREEPY thing was when a large man, he may be the manager, came around to check on how things were going for us he came up from behind me and laid his hand on my back and asked "How is everything here?" - I am a guy and I do not mean to imply he was being frisky - it was just odd. I am not one of those people who freak if anyone touched them - but even then this is a little creepy - especially if someone does not see if coming. Did my first take-out /visit Friday night. Ordered on the phone with a seemingly capable person. When picking up they tried to put hot food in same bag as cold food - seems to defeat the purpose no? Get home and discover they forgot to give me a brisket sandwich (+/-$10) and there was no BBQ sauce. How does that happen? BBQ restaurant does not put sauce in with to-go? I called back to advise about the missing item and was told it would be refunded off card. No such luck. Messaged on FB to call me but no response. So let's get to the meat of the matter - the food I did get was hit and miss. Brisket was solid. Ribs tasted like they'd been held too long or boiled first. Sides were OK. Q is expensive enough and when you do not get what you expect it leaves you unsure of a revisit. I'd like to support local but this episode has tried my patience. read more

Pretty good BBQ. We ordered the Gut Tickler which is their loaded baked potato and the Bettermost sandwich which has brisket, pulled pork and sliced sausage in it. I'll be honest, this was my way to try 3 meats. The sandwich was loaded w meat. I had to pull some off to eat it. Very good sandwich. They have two sauces on the table, normal and spicy. They are a little liquid-y as I prefer thick sauces and it's a vinegar base, but good. Spicy was not very spicy. We also ordered the hatch chili Mac n cheese. I think I found one chili in the whole thing. Would not order it again. Wait staff is a little casual as one waitress repeatedly hollered at other waitresses over our table. Elected to sit outside at a shaded table overlooking Lake Hubbard. Seated promptly. Was expertly served by two female servers (mostly by Kailey), both who were friendly, efficient, polite and knowledgeable) and a joy to talk to. Drinks arrived promptly. My wife had a pork taco which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the barbeque pork sandwich which was loaded with meat, and with the addition of the barbeque sauce at the table was juicy, moist and very flavorful. Since we both ordered the same side dish (mac & cheese), our server advised us to instead order one larger side to share............which was a terrific idea. This is bad BBQ. Really bad. The ribs have a heavy, dark bark, but they're somehow still flavorless. Ours were also overcooked and cold. We also had brisket that was completely dry and barely warm. Terrible. The sides come pre-packaged in take-out containers, IN the restaurant. Served by waitstaff. What the hell? We had sides of cold, congealed mac and cheese that was completely inedible and some creamed corn that was pretty good. Like walking into a New Orleans barbecue restaurant a week before Mardi Gras; friendly, smiling waitresses gave us fresh greetings and super attentive service. The view is awesome looking out towards the lake but if you want to see what's going on in the sports world, just look the other way at the giant TVs...though you will be easily distracted by the giant Samoan bartender who is singing along with his patrons to the loud country/rock/pop ballads thundering over the speakers. If you're looking for tranquil, peace and quiet, go somewhere else but don't expect to have hearty portions of delicious barbecue and scrumptious sides served with happy hands quite like at Sideways. read more

Went for Easter lunch and sat in the patio. Started with the Texas toothpicks and they were awesome. Their jalapeño ranch is off the hook! Food took a really long time to get out to us and I suspect that maybe the waitress forgot to put in our order, but when it did come oh how yummy! I'm usually not a big fan of bacon wrapped jalapeños but these were amazing and it came with more of the awesome ranch. I split the Bettermost sandwich with my sister bc of pictures on yelp showing how big it was. Glad we did bc it was huge! My mother had the chopped beef sandwich with their cheese sauce and she loved it. The buns are made in house and you can really tell. Everyone else at the table loved what they had as well. The Harbor wasn't busy at all but bc of the small parking lot, it took a minute to find parking...they should really think about putting in a parking garage. The one star off is only because of how long the food took...almost an hour. read more

Called back repeatedly for the next hour and kept getting message that there was no voicemail. Tried to order online and it only gave me a short list of after hours options. Went to the restaurant and the manager wouldn't even speak with me. Hostess told me they didn't have enough food for pickup even though the restaurant was full of people. This was one of the low points of my life. Went in hungry, came out still hungry, but also nauseated. After waiting almost an hour (for BARBECUE - where the smoked meat is generally already ready before you even order), sipping on bad tea to pass the time, our order finally arrived. And then things went from impatient to revolted. The chopped brisket included a plethora of huge globules of fat, roughly the size of Slimer (from Ghostbusters), and the total bill with tip came out to almost double a trip to the local Soulmans BBQ. The sides just threw the whole meal off. The bacon ranch potato salad was really watery. I'm talking 'soak thru the container' watery. The potatoes were almost uncooked so they crunched when you bit down. The Mac and cheese was rubbery and really stuck together. I just feel like you can have the best BBQ meat but if your sides fail, it won't bring people back. I really wanted to like this place. We're always looking for some good local que.
