The ribs are great; the beans are good; the potato salad is above average. The cole slaw is good but wait a minute - I don't like cole slaw so if this is good why that's saying something! My buddy had a sliced beef sandwich and they asked if he wanted it trimmed all the way or if they should leave a little. Great authentic bbq with reasonable prices. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich meal.. $7.50 sandwich drink and beans. The beans were really good too. This place is on the hey 80 service road and you have to exit early or you will miss it. I'll definitely go back and recommend it. read more

We had the loaded brisket potato and the rib sandwich. The brisket on the loaded potato was awesome, however we were not impressed with the rib sandwich, the ribs were cold and clearly not fresh. It was nice to get a cup of bean soup free of charge with the meal. read more

Solid barbecue, it's in a bit of a random spot right off 80, which made us think it had to be good holding its own just off the highway. We were right. Lived here for two years before wandering in on a whim not too long ago and finding this treasure. Shorty's is absolutely fantastic BBQ! Looks like an old gas station and has a funky Texas-themed decor. You can smell the deliciousness from the highway, but once you get inside your mouth just starts watering. The staff? Happened to be in the mood for BBQ (a never ending mood) and decided to give this spot a try. The owners have converted an old gas station into cool little BBQ joint, and I love the atmosphere of places like this! My wife had the rib plate and I got a pound of sliced brisket, both of which came with huge side servings of coleslaw and potato salad. The ribs were super delicious and extremely tender. The sliced brisket was a bit on the dry side but still had great flavor. I'm a bit of a brisket "snob" so I'm extremely picky when it comes to this cut of meat. I asked for it "sliced and moist," which means it should have come from the point. I'm sure mine was cut from the flat because it was so lean. With all of that being said, overall, I really liked this place and I'll definitely be back to try it again! read more

This little barbecue shack couldn't be any more perfectly close to home. It's hard to find a bbq place worth going to. When I first walked in I thought it was going to have a heavy BBQ smokey flavor to it because it smells strongly like smoke. Surprisingly, it has just the right amount of smoke to it. Potato salad is awesome and the beans are a different good taste. I had the Southern slaw and the coleslaw complimented my chopped beef sandwich quite well. Definitely will be returning. read more

I decided to give Shorty's a try after reading such good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. I ordered brisket which was not tender at all but quite tough, and the sausage tasted like plain old Earl Campbell sausages. I tried their Texas Tater salad, which was quite mustardy and lacked taste. The coleslaw was mediocre and their smoked cabbage did not taste fresh, and lacked flavor. Also their beans are not a "must try" as some have indicated, as they taste like regular chili beans. I drove 30 minutes to check them out, and was hugely disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone! You are better off heading to your closest Soulman's BBQ then coming here. read more

We have visited Shorty's numerous times and it is our go to place for BBQ. I have tried all the different meats and never had a bad meal here. We had a big family reunion when our son came home from his tour of duty Shorty was not open on Sunday when we were to have the event.
