The food never misses. I've been 3x and do not have anything bad to say about this restaurant. The service and staff is always great. They have daily specials on the chalkboard. I recommend the brisket. The ambiance is very clean. For those who are looking for a great place to check out this is it!!

Everything we've ever tasted at El Tejas Twist far from exceeded our expectations. The portions are huge, prices are fair and the atmosphere is wonderful. The kids especially love the Mac & Cheese and the outdoor games. This is a family owned restaurant and their pride shows through the service and food. Everyone is super sweet and accommodating. Just make sure you get there early enough to get what you want, because things sell out.

    Birria Tacos, and Flautas

I recently stopped by El Tejas Twist, and wow -- what an amazing experience! The Birria tacos were out of this world -- perfectly seasoned, juicy, and full of flavor with that rich consommé that ties everything together. Every bite was tender and packed with authentic taste. And the flautas? Simply delicious! Crispy, golden, and filled just right -- they had that perfect crunch without being greasy. You can really tell everything is made fresh with care. The service was friendly, the food came out hot, and the whole experience left me wanting more. If you haven't tried El Tejas Twist yet, you're missing out on some of the best Mexican comfort food around. Highly recommend!

The fat cap on the brisket was cooked to perfection. I can't remember the last time I had one so good. It was like savory meat candy. We purchased the El Grande and were able to sample a little bit of everything. Everything was on point!

If y'all are looking for some real Texas style bbq, I promise El Tejas Twist is where you want to be. I had no idea this place existed until I hopped on tiktok and saw a video of their glorious food. I knew I had to have it and I quickly made my way over. As soon as I pulled up and saw the place, I Instantly knew I was where I needed to be. From the massive exposed smokers to the awesome family friendly outdoor area, I could tell this was gonna be good. I walked in and placed my order with a very sweet lady at the front counter. I had to get the Tejas Trinity (ribs, brisket, sausage). This is the same thing I typically order when trying any new bbq spot. It came with a side, so I ordered some charro beans and I also added a Texas Twinkie (jalapeño stuffed with brisket and seasoned cream cheese, wrapped in bacon). I also noticed that they sold tamales, so I had to order a half dozen of the birria and a half dozen pulled pork to take home. After a short wait, they called my name. I quickly made my way to the front and grabbed my food. It was a magnificent sight indeed. The first thing I tried was the brisket. I asked for the fatty/moist cut. When I tell y'all this was some of the best brisket I've ever had, just know that I'm not lying. I would honestly put this up there with some of the greats (Franklin's, Cooper's, Black's). The bark itself was full of flavor and it was extremely tender and juicy. I then tried the ribs. These things had the perfect bite to them!!! Whatever seasoning they used was incredible. I'd easily put these ribs against any others in the business. I chose the jalapeño sausage and to my surprise, it wasn't even remotely spicy, which is a huge plus for me and my family. We're some wimps when it comes to spicy food. Either way, the sausage was perfect. That Texas Twinkie was calling my name. My favorite spot for Texas Twinkies has always been Hutchins BBQ. Ifykyk, so needless to say, I was very shocked when these instantly took over the number 1 spot. I think the difference was in the cream cheese. I feel like Tejas Twist has something extra mixed in there. Last but definitely not least was the charro beans. I've traveled all over the US and Mexico and had charro beans from many different restaurants. These beans in particular are now in my top 3 for sure. They were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I got home about 2 hours later and told my wife and kids I got some tamales. We all tried them together and were taken back at how amazing they were. In our opinion, these are how tamales should be made. The ratio was absolutely spot on. The birria tamales dipped in the consommé was a match made in heaven and the pulled pork with the verde sauce was right there with them. Easily some of the best tamales I've ever had. I can't recommend this place enough!!! Now that I know how good their food is, I would easily travel hours for it. My only regret was not ordering some of their amazing desserts. I won't make that mistake next time.

Excellent food - great portion sizes and friendly service ever since time. I just love this place, a perfect tex-mex menu and they usually have specials too. This amazing little gem is an absolute must when I'm in Forney.

This may be the longest food review I write lol. This place deserves it! After making a visit from Fate which is just a lil up the road from Forney, I have to say this is absolutely my new favorite bbq joint! First let me start by saying their Texas Twinkie's are the best compared to Hutchins! I no longer have to travel so far for a Texas Twinkie anymore! I have now found this amazing lil gem that serves them near perfect in my opinion. I came on a Sunday at 11 with lil to no line. My friend and I ordered pork ribs, sliced brisket (you have a choice lean or moist) moist is my go to and I made no mistake, turkey and a couple of Texas Twinkies. Portions were bigger than I anticipated for a half lb let me tell ya! It fed the 2 of us and still lbs leftover! They do not skimp! Even the small size for their sides can feed 2. I also ordered 1 of their tamales of the day which was chicken mole. Let me just say I love chicken mole and did not know how this would taste in a tamale and to my surprise it was just simply amazing and full of flavor. I will say I did an "add-on", this tops your tamale with salsa verde, crema (sour cream) and cotija cheese. Listen that alone was a meal in itself. Sides ordered were mac and cheese and potato salad. Also ordered the chips and queso to start. So good! I give this place a solid 9.5! The bark and flavor on their meats solid 10! No bbq sauce needed, meat was perfect on its own. They do have a mexican spin to their menu so checkout all the other items you wont find at many other bbq spots! After asking for to-go boxes they asked how everything was and spoke to me a lil bit and were very friendly so hospitality 100/10. Go check it out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

I have never had my socks knocked off by ANY BBQ places and most restaurant brisket is boring to me in particular (even places recommended by others as being "amazing"). We smoke WAY better brisket in our own smoker. That being said, I will actually admit, the meat at El Texas Twist is as good if not possibly better than what we've smoked at home (I know it sounds snobby). It actually knocked our socks off. I'm honestly still in shock. I didn't think we would ever find BBQ that was amazing. The service was also great and all the employees were super friendly. It's got a relaxed, casual feel that's kid friendly. I just wish I lived closer!! We tried brisket burrito, pork ribs, beef birria tacos, brisket quesadilla, and pork tamales. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing spot!!! The food is so flavorful and I see why so many things are sold out. I will definitely try to go earlier. The staff is so sweet & helpful. There's a lot of space to sit if you want to dine in and it's very clean. I will most definitely go back!

The crowd wasn't bad, and we were seated quickly. The chips, salsa, and drinks were delivered promptly. The salsa seemed like a new recipe, and was pretty good. I want to say the chip game was on point, at a table of 6 our chips were never empty. We ordered a queso and that was good too. The staff was accommodating when our kids made special requests and that was appreciated. The rest of us ordered something involving brisket and all left stuffed and happy. Food was authentic and delicious. We ended up getting the same waitress from my first visit and she was attentive and friendly. There was also a gentleman probably in his 40s overseeing the dining operations, he ran a tight ship, and was most likely the reason everything was prompt. The place even seemed a bit lighter and the atmosphere was a little more family friendly. Oh I also had a margarita after reading the reviews. It was perfect in my opinion. A family of 6 ate until we burst and it was all still under $120.00. That's a win in our book. This place is back in the rotation, if things change, I'll post an update.

Our waitress was outstanding as she took care of us. I am not so sure if there were more, but she was handling quite a bit of tables. It is not your typical that you see however as there is not taco bowl, but a substitute for the strips. They use fresh vegetables and nothing looked expired. In fact it looked just like the photo on the menu. We got a lot of chips and salsa and our waitress asked if we wanted chips to go and we thought she was going to give us a box to put the chips, but nope it ended up being a bag. Beef was not dry and quite juicy. Our waitress was so good that I tipped her 30% for doing over and beyond.

I'm not sure if it was just a bad day to come here or what, but the fact that it was so busy did not match the experience that we had. Although the drinks we got were ok, the tajin rim on my cucumber margarita was barely existent. It was maybe a few flecks of tajin. Then when our food came out, the rice looked completely bland. Jasmine rice with zero flavor is certainly an interesting choice for a Mexican food restaurant. We ordered queso and it just tasted like melted down velveeta with some tomatoes in it. By the time the queso came out, we were out of chips. Instead of bringing us more, we had to ask our server several times for some. Felt out of the ordinary for a restaurant as typically they'll just bring you more chips? The tomatillo sauce was very good on the enchilada, but that was about the most flavor of the entire night. I don't know that I would recommend this place to anyone... just drive 1 minute up the road to Manny's! To top it off, the whole vibe of the place feels weird. Extremely upscale on the outside, but as soon as you walk in it's just odd. Additionally, two enchilada plates and queso with two margaritas came out to $80. This was extremely expensive for the quality of food that we received.
