I've tried, at length to contact restaurant management with this review, but have not been directed to an email to submit my concern. Thus, I'm posting here.
My friend and I had reservations at the restaurant on 6/30 for 2:15p. Per the pre-recorded phone message, we reserved online. We were dropped off at the Trade Post via Uber. We are from Pittsburgh, PA and first time Denver visitors. A team member at the Trading Post directed us "Up the hill and to the left" to get to the restaurant. We were stopped at the normal pathway, as it was closed for a concert. I'm unclear why someone with a reservation would not be able to walk to the restaurant on that pathway. We had to take the stairway to the restaurant. We were not hiking, because we are not in the physical state to do so. Also, the altitude change is difficult for us. We were very short of breath. We ran into multiple team members along our trek to the grille and not one seemed too concerned, when we explained we were having a hard time. I called the restaurant to let them know that we'd be late.
We arrived at 2:23p, thanks to other visitors. Strangers were most helpful in seeing that we got to our lunch. Our waiter was very nice. He apologized for the lack of information given to us. We enjoyed our lunch and after a couple drinks were content to forget our frustrations. While we ate our turkey croissants, the restaurant was rearranged for the concert. Tables, chairs, etc... lots of noise. Definitely not the ambience we had hoped for... I tipped 20%, because we did have great waiter service. We thanked everyone and walked to the restrooms.
I waited for my friend, who was blocked into the bathroom by a janitor and a gate. No one checked to see if she was in there. After she came out, we headed back to the elevator. At this point, we were confronted by a husky man in a blue shirt, darker complexion with a Wyatt Earp attitude. With a tone, he asked if he could help us. My friend explained we just had lunch, used the bathrooms, and were leaving. With an attitude he responded "Well we're closed." My friend then asked him which way he'd like us to leave. He pointed to another set of stairs and did not let us use the elevator. Again, we were having trouble with the altitude. We complied. By the time we got to the top of the stairs, I was short of breath and stopped a moment outside the doors. Wyatt Earp appeared there and told me to move along. At that point, I lost my composure. I told him I needed a minute, that we were from out of town and not used to the attitude and that I was short of breath. He offered no assistance. At which point, I said "unbelievable".
I'm highly disappointed in spending $98 for lunch, which was soup and sandwiches and a few drinks, to be presented with such lacking guest service. And I have questions. Why are guests with reservations not allowed to use the normal pathway to reach the restaurant? Why would we not be informed of this, before arriving to your facility? Why are there 2:15p reservations, if staff act rushed for you to leave and then treat you as you are trespassing, when leaving lunch? Why would a guest not be allowed to catch their breath versus risking a medical event and EMS involvement? I'd appreciate a response. read more
