First time at Murphy's Mountain Grill in downtown Evergreen, and the INS and the OUTS burger was my favorite bite. It was juicy, rich, and beefy, on a soft toasted bun with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and Murph sauce. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The team told us everything on the menu is made in house, even the sauces, and you can taste it in everything we tried. The wings were tender, sweet, and sticky with a spicy kick, so I'd order the burger and wings together. The ahi wonton tacos had a crunchy tortilla, fresh tuna, a sesame crust, and creamy guacamole. For drinks, the Black Lavender was the better of the two I tried, and the Mandarin Fashion was fine. We sat inside, and it's cozy in that classic mountain restaurant way. The service was lovely and everyone was very hospitable. It's right on Bear Creek and a perfect stop after a hike, for lunch or brunch, or on an Evergreen day trip. read more

My wife and I were looking for a great place to eat in Evergreen, and Murphy's ranked the highest. It's a very laid-back atmosphere, with some of the best burgers I have tried. If you like a juicy burger with incredible taste, this is the place to go. Their truffle fries were just as good. I will have to go back and try the Salmon and their signature cocktails. The only negative, and this is not the restaurant's fault, is that the parking is horrible. Luckily, we went on a weekday in the winter, so we were able to park about a block away. There are a few paid parking spots, but it will cost about $10 for 2 hours if you use the QR code on your phone. If you can get to the restaurant, it's well worth it. Oh boy. We so wanted to love this place. Firstly, the table and chairs were disgusting. I pulled my chair up to the tables and was greeted with sticky fingers because all the underneath surfaces of the table and chairs was covered in grime and food. Secondly, their food was just not good. The menu descriptions sounds so tasty and wonderful, but when the food is brought out, there was no quality control. We were asked what temp we wanted our burgers--everyone asked for mid rare. Zero pink in the middle. All were well done and tiny beef patties. My Asian salad was a joke, giant pieces of cabbage with the stem that wasn't shredded fine like the rest which made it super bitter. I asked for dressing on the side and they brought out maybe a teaspoon amount. The fries were undercooked--limp, cold, and starchy, not to mention, they portion their ketchup too. I don't even know why. It tasted like regular bottled ketchup--not like it was housemade or anything.Their Sprite tasted awful, sweet potato tots were also cold and undercooked, and their bathrooms were closed. Our wings were the only bright spot in this nightmare of a visit. Our server was nice but forgot about us multiple times and everything took forever. Don't eat here. This place is charming and perfect for a nice dinner in the Evergreen area. Great service... the vibe feels like a true Colorado mountain town with rustic charm. The food was spectacular! The brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had... finely chopped, crispy, with beautiful flavor. We had the elk burger (dirty Frenchman) and OMG!! So, so delicious! Upgrade to the sweet potato tater tots (or parm truffle fries... you can't go wrong with either). Their blackberry blitz looked amazing (my friend got it and then just added soda for refills). Incredible ambiance and food- I stayed in Evergreen on vacation three years ago and we made a point to eat here 2 or 3 times during our stay. You would think that the restaurant would serve pub/bar food at first glance, but all the food is elevated, fresh, and delicious. I also take any opportunity I have to eat outside, especially here by the river. I ordered the same salad I got during our initial visit years ago and it was just as good. We got the crispy brussel petals as an appetizer with the truffle oil on the side- my family is not fond of this flavor. Our server was accommodating and kind, as well as knowledgeable of the menu. I hope I am able to return to Evergreen and specifically Murphy's again as there are multiple items on the menu I would like to have :) read more

I don't know why this restaurant has high ratings. My husband and I and adult son all had very mediocre meals. We couldn't drink the water, had a terrible taste to it. My salad was fine but it was just lettuce. My husband & son got the Elk burgers, the meat was good and well cooked, but the toppings and the fries were complete disappointment at best. We got the brussels sprouts appetizer but it was drizzled in truffle oil almost made me sick, it was so oily. They should take it off the menu. McDonald's fries are better than the fries they served with the elk burgers. They also allow dogs thru the restaurant to sit at the patio tables. Two couples w their very large dogs were at the tables. Great dog hair w the meal too. Bathrooms had flies all over. It was very disappointing meals and would not recommend it. read more

Our group of 7 went to Murphys for dinner after a high school lacrosse game. When we arrived we were told we would have to wait for a table to accommodate our group size, the hostess was so sweet and even came out to update us and check on us while we waited. It wasn't long maybe 15 minutes. The staff was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and very pleasant. Our food was absolutely delicious! We tried several burgers , the wings, BLTA, and the oriental chicken salad . Everything was wonderful, very fresh, and served with a smile. The strawberry lemonade was also amazing. Absolutely loved my experience here! I believe my servers name was Ellen, she was great. We wanted to sit Creekside, but all of the tables were full, so we got a nice patio table in the front of the restaurant by the street, still a beautiful vibe. And it was a perfect day to sit outside in early August. Although all of the dishes and appetizers sounded so tempting, we decided not to indulge and just skip straight to the main course We all ordered different burgers, my friends tried the black and Bleu and the Murph and were raving about it. I built my own take on the Frenchman, adding some caramelized onions and onion frizzles, and a truffle sauce. So good! I don't know that Brie is my favorite cheese for a burger though, I'd get it with a different cheese next time personally The fries were absolutely delicious, i ordered the truffle fries and it also came with a side of truffle dipping sauce. So good. The portions were a little skimpy on the fries though. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that my friends burger was ordered medium well and came out with a bright pink inside. We ordered 2 drinks we didn't like and she took them away with no problem and got us lemonades that we both loved! Husband got the Murph burger with elk patty and truffle fries. Very very good! I got the rustic wings which tastes kind of rough, idk how to explain that. Less like wings and more like chicken breast. One was super bloody in the inside and it just grossed me out a little! We've been to Murphy's Mountain Grill before, and while the portions have always felt a little small for the price, the food was decent enough that we came back. Unfortunately, this last visit was a mess from start to finish. We were seated right away, but then sat for about 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Finally, another employee asked if we had been helped, and when we said no, our waitress came over and apologized before taking our order. From there, everything took forever -- drinks, food, all of it. The portions were shockingly small this time around too. My husband paid $21 for a burger that honestly looked like it came off a kids' menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and the chicken was dry and cold. No ketchup or condiments. We got up and got our own from the bar. We left still hungry. The worst part was when our food finally came out. The waitress brought meals for me, my husband, and one child, but completely forgot the other child's meal. She said she'd "be right back," but instead we watched her wait on multiple other tables before finally bringing his food. By the time he got it, the rest of us were completely done eating. To make matters worse, another table that had been seated after us was also having major issues. The husband eventually got up visibly upset because they had received drinks but still never got their food. You could tell his family was trying to calm him down, but he had clearly reached his limit. A manager (or maybe another young employee) came over to apologize to them, but nobody ever came to check on or speak to us, even though we had also been waiting an extremely long time. The whole place felt disorganized, understaffed, and more focused on employees socializing with each other than actually taking care of customers. Ordered their Salmon dish, food was on the Verge of going bad, quinoa undercooked and with that smell and taste of already fermenting cause it was old, I made the waitress aware of that and she confirmed with the chef that and said I was right and they were gonna throw that quinoa away, I had already ate a couple bites of that so it made the whole experience bad, this is not a cheap restaurant so we expect the best when we decide to pay their high prices. They're known for their burgers, so you should probably order one! +Evergreen Smoked Pork Green Chili ($9) // Shredded Cheese, Cilantro, Pickled Red Onions, Pepitas, Tortilla Strips. This was the most dolled up green chile I've ever had. It was also the GREENEST green chile I've ever had. I'm 99% sure they add green dye to it, which I don't seem to understand the reasoning for...Having said that, the flavors were good albeit the neon green color. Southern Charm ($17) // Angus Beef, Espresso Bacon Bourbon Onion Jam, Smoked Gouda, Roasted Garlic Horseradish Aioli, Pickles, Lettuce, served with House Cut Kennebec Fries. If you like strong potent flavors this is the burger for you. It was incredibly garlicky and horseradishy. Some bites were overkill, but the meat was cooked well and the bun was delicious. Good and bad. Here's the good: The ambiance is nice, and the service was very good, I wish we'd had a good experience. Now the bad. Three diners, two said their food was ok, mine was inedible. It was a salad with blackened salmon, and the salmon must have gone rancid. My dish smelled terrible the moment they put the plate on the table, so I actually asked the server, before tasting anything, if they used a weird marinade or something that would make it smell odd. Took a small bite and had to spit it out, so bad. Somebody in the kitchen must have noticed it and thought the spices would cover it. They replaced the fish with shrimp, but really that ruined my experience. Also, please know that the place was really cold when we were there. As in grab a blanket cold, indoors. It was pretty empty but we were basically ignored-the waitress forgot his beer for 25 minutes. We waited 45 minutes for 2 appetizers, one of which was wrong. Took 25 min before we were able to get our order put in. Then over an hour to get our food!! The place was not busy and the other tables said the same thing. The ambience is the only good thing about this place. Once our food came out it was cold and we were missing a bunch of stuff and the sides with the sandwiches were wrong. The burgers at Murphy's Mountain were incredibly delicious! I had the Southern Charm and my partner had the Black & Blue (he devoured it before I could take a pick). Although the Udi's GF bun is not my favorite the taste of the burger empowered the lack of taste for the bun. The Citrus Grilled Chicken Plantain Nachos were an interesting and unique creation of typical nachos--if you love plantains then you will definitely enjoy this version of nachos. Front Range friends, I have a recommendation. Beat the summer heat by driving up Bear Creek Canyon from Morrison to Evergreen, and have lunch at Murphy's Mountain Grill. Sarah and I thoroughly enjoyed our elk burgers, and the sundae I ordered for us to share for dessert was fantastic (I rarely order dessert, and almost never at lunch). Moraine loved her walk along, and dips in, Bear Creek at Lair o' the Bear Park in Idledale, four miles west of Morrison, and is tuckered out this evening. She's approaching 90 in dog years, after all. A one mile walk is plenty for her. We took the back way home down North Turkey Creek Road and saw some beautiful mountain, more precisely foothills, scenery. read more
