Parkside Cafe was a great new find for us. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the newly renovated patio. It was bustling Saturday morning, with a decently full patio of patrons, pups and servers. What surprised us was a small crew of 3-4 men pouring concrete, at the entrance to the cafe and patio where we all sat. Literally 3-4 feet away from our particular table. Who knows, maybe a Saturday morning time slot was the only concrete pouring time slot available. It was odd though. But not odd enough to deter us from the delicious breakfast that we had, lol. We started with the cinnamon roll. Not too much icy and enough to provide the sweetness you're expecting. My breakfast burrito and his chicken fried steak and eggs were scrumptious. We thought about returning on Sunday, lol. The mountain drive was just enough to leave the suburbs and remind yourself that the mountains are literally next door. We'll def be back and back out in that patio, maybe newly expanded for the second time, haha. read more

Met my granddaughter here for "linner". Sat on the patio - beautiful afternoon. Service was friendly. I had the ahi tacos and a cadillac marg - both were wonderful. My granddaughter had the birria tacos and enjoyed them immensely. I've eaten at every rendition of this restaurant and so far, I think their take on Mexican food is the best. read more

Bare bones meal. Cheese enchiladas had very little filling. The ranchero sauce, if that's what it was, was sort of trending towards mole. Our group of Four loved this place! I got a veggie burrito and my husband the chili rellenos. Our entrees tasted very fresh and authentic- not drowned in greasy cheese or enchilada sauce. Prices were great - I've literally spent more at Qdoba for a burrito!! The staff was super friendly and attentive, and the owner/host stopped by to make sure we were happy. This resty is a really welcome ADD to the local Evergreen dining scene, and I love the dog-friendly deck and made-to-order margaritas. read more

Went for lunch for the first and last time. The turkey club had that rubbery, tasteless turkey they used to serve in my college dorm. It was supposed to have avocado which it did - a tiny dab that was gone in one bite. If it was reasonably priced I'd consider trying it again but that's not the case. We found this place by chance when taking a bike ride across the road, and are we glad we did! We've been twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. The breakfast burritos are generous and don't taste at all greasy, like many do. The bacon was lean and plentiful, potatoes cooked just right, and the green chile sauce was richly flavored and delicious. For lunch we tried the blackened shrimp tacos and skirt steak burrito. The shrimp was seasoned well, garnished in an attractive manner and nestled in fresh tortillas. Chipotle mayo added just the right level of zing. The skirt steak was tender, flavorful and again, generous. The Spanish style rice was hot and tender also, not dried out like many restaurants serve. Refried beans were just the right texture and tasty. The salsa served with the crispy and lightly seasoned chips was medium spicy, full of flavor and fresh. Our server Ben was friendly, efficient and gave us just the right amount of attention. We ate on the patio, with its festive atmosphere and beautiful views. We have been spoiled with an abundance of Mexican food choices prior to coming to Evergreen, and can truly say this was one of our most favorite and memorable meals. read more

Awful customer service from the owner for out of town customers! The chili con queso looked and tasted like the white block of velveeta with a few tomatoes in it. Was so thick it was like eating a block of cheese. We asked the server if they had ground beef tacos, she said I think so. They came out looking not fully cooked. The server said the pink was the seasoning. I have never heard of that EVER! The tacos tasted bland when we had a few bites and we couldn't get past the pinkness. When we received out bill we were speechless on the price for the quality (not so much) of the food. The nasty soft ground beef tacos were $5.38 plus tax each. The Chicken quesadilla was $16 plus tax (the quesadilla was the size of taco bells and only had chicken and cheese in it for reference). I asked to speak to someone in management to explain that the food did not taste good, we only ate the quesadilla and just to express my concerns. The"owner" came over. He cut me off from speaking, did not want to hear a word i said, sternly said his meat was cooked and told us to deal with it. He also said the tacos are only $5 a piece so what's the problem? Did not offer us anything of any time or apologize. He Needs to go to some business and management glasses on how to deal and treat customers. I was polite until he cut me off and told me to deal with it. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this so called restaurant!!!!!! read more

Horrible experience. Came to this restaurant recently during a trip up to evergreen and the service was terrible. Rude servers and mediocre food. The food felt undercooked and I felt like I was bothering the staff just by being there. I was walking around the restaurant and I overheard multiple derogatory slurs being made to someone by the staff. Couldn't see any faces but it was made clear it was directed towards a black worker. We were relatively promptly sat. Yay! But then no one came up to us & we were not able to get anyone's attention. Two tables were sat & acknowledged by the waitstaff AFTER us. One got their coffee AND food while we still got no acknowledgment from anyone. No water, no coffee, nothing. Maybe I have RBF but still, it was absolutely bizarre. Are there new owners? Barely opened my mouth to ask if we could sit outside before a balding stuffed shirt in glasses snapped at me that it wasn't gonna happen. Already off to a great start we we were rushed quickly to a cramped back room with the most soulless ambience that would make Guantanamo look like Coachella in comparison. Opened the menu at a dirty table to see I would have to take out a second mortgage just to buy a grilled cheese because everything is priced exactly the same with some prices seeming reasonable and others laughable. Unfortunately I don't have much to say about the food as we realized we'd rather eat somewhere that didn't make us feel like we had a gun to our heads before paying. Overall, our experiences here have been very good. Good lunch place. Today, we went for breakfast for the first time and it was a negative experience. Service was very spotty and hard to get. Food served cold. One of our party ordered avocado toast with scrambled egg. It was served, however, without the avocado and had to be redone. Of the four of us, three got their breakfast meals at the same time. Our fourth person sat there waiting...and waiting. We'll go back for lunch but for breakfast - just skip it. read more

What a lousy restaurant. Ordered a turkey sandwich on a croissant. The sandwich fell apart when I picked it up and I noticed the turkey wasn't fresh turkey, but oily slices from a turkey roll. An 18-dollar sandwich should have fresh turkey. Our waitress disappeared and only came back with the check and only then asked how everything was, apparently impervious to the un-eaten sandwich in front of me and my refusal of a to-go box. My wife and I made our first visit to Parkside Cafe today. TLDR - we will be back. It's in a quaint old building in Bergen Park, just off the parkway and close to Evergreen Parkway. As you go in there's a bar on the left and it has that inviting belly up feel to it. The dining room in the back is nice and comfortable. If we hadn't been cold from riding our motorcycles up the canyons early on a Saturday morning, we would have sat out the patio which was sunny and bright. The service was excellent. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our waitress showed up and took drinks orders. She quickly checked back in for food and whether I knew the order for my wife who was on the phone. The food was excellent. I'm not a pancake guy but I saw a picture of their pancakes and had to have them. Score! They were fantastic. Soft and chewy in the middle, crispy on the edges but not overcooked in any way. The syrup was delicious. Very vanilla-y. Lisa got the avocado Benedict and started by saying I could have had one of her eggs because she never eats it all. She ate it all. When we were close to done an owner/manager checked in with us. He brought us a sample of their green chile. Next time, I'm having that. All in all, excellent place and well worth the trip. read more

If the waitress had even been a little bit nice it wouldn't have mattered but we got up and left before she brought the coffee. The food is delicious and fresh, the staff is super friendly and the expanded outdoor seating area makes for a great spot to drink your coffee and watch the deer in the park across the street. My go to breakfast is the burrito topped with their delicious green chili while my husband loves the chicken fried steak. This little gem of a cafe was welcome surprise after a morning hike. For some reason it is not showing up on Yelp both times we have gone her. It is a breakfast/brunch joint that closes at 2 PM. We have only tried the lunch items which have been great but have seen the breakfast burrito and pancakes served to other customers and they look amazing! It is pet friendly and they provide mats and water for our pup. Incredibly friendly and fun staff. Prices very fair. Parking is a little tight and we had to use the art museums spots that share with the restaurant. Highly recommend. read more
