I feel bad to leave such a bad review on a locals favorite but this place is ridiculously expensive for the quality of food. People were saying you get large portions but when I ordered the $17 avocado toast I only got ONE normal slice of sourdough (not even big slice!) for two eggs and a half an avocado. I feel so frustrated paying $30 for a coffee and avocado toast. ($3 extra for a second slice of toast). The food is decent but come here expecting your wallet to hurt and not receive its worth. read more

The hash browns were spices and seasoned. The biscuits and gravy were $18.50. The gravy was thickened flour milk, with no salt or pepper, the blandest gravy I ever had. It did nothing to enhance the flavor of the biscuits. It just made them soggy. The price for the meal was hefty. Coffee was good. Hot chocolate was delicious. If you're looking for a diner in the middle of the most confusing strip mall ever, this is your place to be (we're talking church, liquor store, fashion salon, and much more). We stopped here on the way back to Denver the day after a wedding, so you know we were in desperate need of the coffee / water combo immediately. After getting that out of the way, you have about a million various breakfast / lunch combos at your disposal. We all got breakfast because a great perk of this cafe is that many meals come with a pancake. The sweet and salty breakfast combo was ideal. Their skillet meals were fantastic. If you don't want gravy, you can switch it out for their green chilis. Matter of fact, you can substitute pretty much anything for whatever you want here. It's like the Substitution Cafe. I don't think I will ever be back here in my life because I don't live anywhere near here, but if you're deciding on a place to go for breakfast, check it out!! read more

Stopped here on the way home from a hike since we wanted a hearty breakfast. We were not disappointed! I ordered the meat skillet plate which had hashbrowns, eggs, sausage patties, and bacon, all smothered in gravy. It also came with a choice of toast or pancake on the side and I went with the pancake. Let me tell you...this was an enormous amount of food for me and I was stuffed. The pancake was crispy on the edges and fluffy on the inside. The skillet itself was absolutely delicious!!! I especially loved the sausage patties. My partner enjoyed his plate as well. Though I have been coming here for years and have enjoyed many Breakfasts and some lunches, I gotta say the Huevos Rancheros was the worst or second worst I have ever had. Hard Tortilla shells, a wad of Potato Hash Browns smothered in Red Chili and cheese, and a couple of Eggs does not cut it for Huevos. Amongst all of the other good items on the menu, this one clearly falls short....I left 75% of it on my plate!...as did my business associate. Time for a Huevos make-over!....or maybe I'm just an outlier....I know what I won't be ordering in the future! read more

We eat here often and I try to give a review each time. Today we were sat right away by a friendly young lady, I believe she was newer staff, as I have never seen her. We had breakfast. Always pretty decent. I had the biscuits and gravy with sausage and scrabbles eggs. The eggs weren't cooked all the way today, a little runny. And I will always complain about the water. I wish they would just put a filter on their tap water. I just always taste like bleach or some kind of cleaner. The coffee is always good, however a flavored creamer would be a nice addition. It's always loud in there, i do believe they could fix this issue, but it doesn't seem to be at the top of their list. Their bloody Mary's look pretty tasty, however I don't drink, but the amount of things they put on a stick is amazing!! Impressive. Always plenty of parking and never really had to wait long for a table. They do have outdoor seating in nice weather. Just another thought, it would be nice to see the employees in matching shirts of some kind. And the cooks wearing hair nets, hats or something while working in the kitchen. read more

We met friends here for brunch and were very disappointed by the service and the food. The food was mediocre, at best, but what frustrated me the most was the server's comment when my son returned to our table, the one in the farthest corner from everyone, and he sat down with a burrito bowl from next door. I understand that outside food is not normally allowed in establishments, however, when I explained to the server that my son had severe food allergies and could not be safely served by the Conifer Cafe, she told me she would have to check with the owner, but that it wasn't allowed. When she came back, she told me they would allow it this time, but not in the future. First of all, if my son isn't welcome, then none of us will be back. If not for dining with friends, we would've left right then. Second of all, the ADA Act allows for reasonable accommodation. Severe food allergies are covered under this act, and we were neither making a scene, interrupting service, or causing any issues. It was embarrassing to be dealt with in that manner, and...it was wrong. The owner/manager never came out to speak to us about it either, which I would expect in such a situation. My biscuits were burned, the sausage is now frozen pre made sausage and my wife's hash browns were burned. The bill was $60... I won't be coming back and don't recommend you do either. read more

I stopped over at the cafe after my hike in elk falls. This was a decent cafe. The menu seemed pretty limited for my liking but the food was definitely good. I got waffles and definitely the pricing was on the higher end for a diner. I also saw some additional surcharges on my receipt. Not sure if its a CO thing or just this cafe. The service was pretty fast and I definitely devoured the waffles. My over hard eggs had running yolk. And weird their breakfast combo didn't come with hashbrowns or home fries. We have been coming here for a few years now, service has always been terrific! Not once have we had anyone beyond spectacular, today is a shout out for the Chef TIM! I ordered the special Eggs Benedict for the first time and oh Lordy... they were delicious! made to order eggs that were perfect! Just nice lighting and comfortable seating. The service is friendly and as fast as they can go. The Pork chili omelette, huevos rancheros, pulled pork tacos were all just excellent. Fresh and Spiced and cooked to perfection....but those hash browns stood above them all. Krispy sections equal to the soft sections and plentiful. So have been going here for the last 6 months and have been very happy with the place from the start BUT lately they have begun nickel and diming the ticket. For example, my daughter used to always order from the griddle 2 Belgium waffles for 7 bucks, yea, best deal on the menu. They have always added fruit and whip cream, Awesome. Well today it came with a 1.50 up charge for the fruit. Not the end of the world but the menu said, Fruit, included. So I order the Griddle Platter which also comes with Belgium waffles and again I'm just for the fruit. But the real problem was after I ordered the waitress comes over and says, " even though the menu says two sausages and pieces of bacon my Boss says because of the food cost you only get 2 sausages and one bacon. I said OK that's fine BUT if he wants to make that change he needs to change his menu, you can't advertise one thing and then deliver something else. Also, they have large portions but you also have the option of a half order, I made the mistake of not saying half order and bought my wife a chief salad to go that cost me 17 bucks. Our waitress Violet was outstanding, very attentive to our needs and tons of personality. I will definitely be back because it's our favorite spot but will definitely ask more questions read more
