During our mountain road trip, we stopped here for Breakfast. It was Excellent!!! Between the four of us we shared a Denver Omelet, a Veggie Omelet and Skillet breakfast. Large portions and everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. We also shared an order of their Donut Holes. Soooo Goood!! They also give you three different dipping sauces with the order. My granddaughter gobbled them up!!! This was our first time here and I would drive up from Denver again in a heartbeat! If you like to come in after a nice hike and wait over 45 minutes for your overpriced, mediocre food, while staring at an empty coffee cup, this is your place. This was even more fun since we had our young son with us. After 45 minutes, our server finally noticed that we hadn't received our food - this will give you an indication of how frequently we received service. As it turns out, they forgot to put in our order, made some lame excuse about "waiting for the cheese to melt" that was clearly belied by the massive numbers of cheese covered dishes being brought to people who arrived after us, and then did not even offer a discount. We waited so long that we were unable to eat at the restaurant. Obviously, they care more about making money than their customers. It's been a long time since I went to a place this all-around terrible. We won't be back. read more

Not a good experience, sat there for 50 minutes, turns out the server forgot to put in our order, and actually forgot about us completely - we had to walk up at one point to get drink refills - and after all that, a grudging 10% off with little apology. This place has been fun for years! I think they've changed owners and it's a little different then previously but the food is great! It's the mountain, so expect to have to enjoy your tables company for a few minutes until your food arrives. Generally the best bacon on the face of the earth. Prices are competitive and portions are generous and waitstaff are friendly and highly professional. Kitchen staff are very professional as well. Generally go at least once a month and have only done breakfast. Have to give lunch a try. read more

We stopped here after a hike. Had a Bloody Mary which was pretty average. The donut holes were pretty good. The BEST part of the breakfast is they cook the hashbrowns in bacon grease and they were fantastic!! So flavorful and addicting, definitely better than anywhere else! Everything else was pretty good. Nice local diner. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Easy to order and delicious food!!! I ordered the pulled pork tacos and they were delightfully tasty! Flour tortilla crisped to perfection and the pico de gallo had just a hint of spice. I would highly recommend trying this place, I'm sure their other meals are just as great! read more

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!! I originally gave this place 3 stars. As it was just average, I felt this was appropriate. I even chose to leave out a few details (like the dirty bathrooms and dangerously slippery floors) so as to not bad-mouth a place I had only been to once. My opinion has now changed. We've eaten there twice and both times our meals were great. The first time we had BLTs. Very good and fantastic fries. The other time we both got breakfast dishes. They were also quite good. The servers are very friendly and efficient. Like a lot of places now they seemed to be short staffed but we didn't wait an inordinate amount of time. Our new favorite in Conifer! read more

Make breakfast great again. This review is one star because of the bland, forgettable food and the picture of Donald Trump posted on the wall. I only get a limited time with my family, and when I see them out for breakfast, I strongly want our time spent together to be in a space that's not politically charged. following up after eating the Takeout Submarine Sandwiches... My girlfriend said (after the first bite) "this is really dry" and she had a tuna salad sub (not normally a dry affair) . I unwrapped mine ( basically an Italian grinder) and it was basically all bread and shredded lettuce - no where near the appropriate level of cheese or meats - and kinda stale bread to boot. My overall comment was also "this is dry" we exchanged sandwiches for a moment and yep we both agreed - we wasted our money... I actually hate Subway, but in this case we spent 50% more for sandwiches that make subway sandwiches look good. This was our first visit, but in general I have an opinion the same as the old fairy tale .... "Fool me once, shame on you, - Fool me twice shame on me !" and based on that philosophy I will NOT be back - no second chances here. So disappointed as Conifer desperately needs decent places to eat!!!! read more

It was just ok, the sausage patties on my "grub plate" tasted like frozen Jimmy Dean patties. The country gravy was pretty bland and tasted like there was too much flour in there to thicken it. They cooked my eggs to my specifications and the hash browns were ok. I also really do think $3.50 is too much to charge for very weak coffee that is not organic, it did not taste very good and was more like tea than coffee. Overall spent almost $20 to be underwhelmed. Also, not really understanding the extra charges besides tax that were included on my bill labeled as "kitchen surcharge" and "PIF" if someone could explain that to me that would be helpful. read more

Nice things to look at on the wall. We have been there three times and bad experiences every time. This morning we went and had breakfast. The total was $44 for a burrito and a platter. The burrito was cold and we said something to the owner. She didn't care and just took the plate. Didn't hear it up or knock anything off the bill. I was really wanting to give this more stars....because the service was one of the best we've had in a long time. Lisa was incredible. Full of energy, happy, on-top of it. Really good! The food...well I think the chef that was at 285 Cafe is still there. It also seems that he is arrogant and changes things to items on the menu that don't really "add" anything. We ordered Juevos Rancheros. This is a classic. We thought it would be good since it had pork. However, it was all one note. Pretty boring. The chef thought adding literally 1/2 a bag of hash browns between the eggs and the crispy corn tortilla was a good idea. NOT! I'm all for changing things up, but have it be for the good and not just excessive food. We were told people take it home and re-heat. I was thinking, wouldn't it be best to save the restaurant money and not add them at all? Or, how about adding 1/2 cup on the side? Why this mountain of hash browns? Nothing was mmmm good. It was all - meh. The chili had zero spice or flavor. The chef took out the beans and added stupid hash browns. It wasn't great and will keep going to the rustic station for this dish. We also saw that they had a "Gyro" well, it isn't. The chef again changed the meat and the breading, so really it's a greek sandwich at best if it is the correct meat. Will continue to enjoy that at Brooks. Since they do it right and delicious. I feel bad for Lisa. She deserves better. We hadn't been there for 2 yrs (since the disastrous 285 Cafe) and probably won't be back. It sounds like people like getting tons of food they can take home even if it doesn't taste all that great. At home, at least you can doctor it up to make it taste better. Oh and be prepared to add 8% more to your costs due to taxes, PIF and a kitchen surcharge. Crazy. read more

Can't help but feel like the reason the portions are so large is to make up for the fact that it tastes like cardboard.
