Best place in town! 5 stars all the way for the rose. They're quite famous for being the oldest bar in Colorado but also great people there. Kevin was my barman the few days I was here and a great dude. Nice girls too my niece might be friends. I had the wings & curds, big pork burrito & the Ruben they were all in house smoked and great. Reasonable prices too u can't beat it. Lots of good bourbon on the list. Live shows when they have em, big name acts. Amazing atmosphere in a historic building in Golden. Good place to take out of town guests. Service was pretty laid back - not a very busy night and I was pretty surprised how little attention we got (order time, refills etc). The Queso was spectacular - very well done with good warm chips 10/10 Bison burger - mediocre - five guys is much better and less $ Fajitas - I had chicken - quite dry and it looked like the setup plate (cheese and such) had been sitting around for a while - things were not fresh. pass. Salmon my wife had was really good - nice big piece, not spicy with GREAT sides. I'd say prices overall were unusually high - one app, one drink and a main came out to $200 with tip. If you ever get the chance to have Deb grace your table, do take the opportunity! She is such a queen- she is personable, kind, and has a one of a kind spunk. She just makes you feel comfortable no matter who you are. I came on 1/10 with my friend for her 30th and it was such an amazing time. From the stunning interior which captured the beauty of the western town feel, the amazing waitress who I mentioned, to the fresh food and ice cold beer. Really this place is unbeatable! Just what the doctor ordered...a bit of the hair of the dog. After checking out Golden and a bit of Denver yesterday I'm not gonna lie I was feelin it just a bit. Coffee was good but needed something a bit more in the form of a spizzy Bloody Mary. The bartender must have heard my spizzy spizzy request and said "challenge accepted" cause it was sooo good. Event Center Only Review. aka "The Rose" The Buffalo Rose Event center is a cozy, small, but most comfortable venue for live entertainment. Every seat is a good seat. The sound system is top notch. Inside the auditorium is a well restored old, historic brick building that dates over a 100+ years with a stage and tables, or high tops, and some balcony seating. The food comes from the Buffalo Rose, the restaurant next door and features a more limited bar menu. Sandwiches. There is a full-service bar -- I was disappointed that all the drinks are served in plastic cups/glasses. Not only is that bad for the environment; a drink just does not taste as good out of a cheap dixie cup. The beer is mostly mass-produced canned lagers with very few craft beer selections on tap. The wine is all mass produced, cheap and poor-quality swill. Service was very good each time we have been. read more

Another fun time at the Rose! Issac took great care of us as we enjoyed watching the hockey playoffs. He had great beer suggestions and likes the strawberry shortcake! Stoped at Buffalo Rose when on a road trip to Golden, CO. Buffalo Rose is a historic restaurant & bar, live performance venue and event center located in the heart of beautiful Golden, Colorado. We just stopped by to have a drink at the bar. The building is newly renovated but has so much history. The location of the modern day Buffalo Rose has been a cornerstone of Golden, Colorado since its founding in 1859. The menu is designed like an old newspaper and has regional American cuisine with a Heavy Latin influence & Western flair. They have a libation for every persuasion at one of our three inviting bars. The bar tender was very friendly and accommodating and made me a custom craft black cherry muddled mezcal margarita, that was not even on the menu. She knocked it out of the park, it was perfectly balanced with a subtle smokiness from the mezcal and just the right amount of cherry flavor without being overly sweet. It was such a hit that other people started ordering it! This Texas girl starting a trend in CO! I also had another round. My friend ordered a Rose old fashioned with Sazerac Barrel Select Rye, Angostura, Orange Bitters, Demerara Simple, Filthy Cherry. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out whether you're grabbing a drink after exploring Golden or meeting up with friends for the evening. Buffalo Rose is a cool spot right in the heart of Golden and a solid place to bring out-of-towners who want the full "Golden vibe" (they don't lie when they say "The Pulse of Golden Since 1859"). The atmosphere is fun, the historic feel is well done, and the newspaper-style menus are a nice touch with a huge selection of options. That said, the food is consistently good but not great. I've been here multiple times and have tried the carne asada fries, Buffalo Rose nachos, bison burger, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich everything was fine, just nothing standout. Service was pretty fast and our waitress gave us some recommendations on places to visit while we were there which we appreciated. Food came out at a great pace. We ordered the buffalo wings and cheese curds as appetizer. The wings were our favorite part of our lunch. More on the vinegary side than spicy. We had the shrimp & grits which my husband enjoyed. Shrimp is a little on the spicier side if you like this dish that way. We also ordered the classic burger & BLTA sandwich. I thought both were just okay. The bread was a bit dry on both. Good live music and such fast service but their restaurant atmosphere isn't designed for live music appreciation for long. I came here mostly for the ambiance of dinner with live music. They said the music started at 7 so that's when we made a reservation. Unfortunately it didn't start until 7:30 or so and we were almost done eating by then and felt pressured to leave. The food and service was good though! The burrito bowl and veggie tacos are the same price but the veggie tacos are way less food so for GF vegetarian folks like me I would recommend the burrito bowl. We also got the crème brûlée which was great!!! All these items came out within 5 minutes or less of ordering which is honestly magical but it really shortened the experience. Our server was great and my complaint feels like an anti complaint for most people, just if you care about the music come later then they say it will start and eat realllllyyyy slow :). read more

Attended a concert here for our 46th wedding anniversary. Mr. Majestyck 8 Track Revival band. Yes, I'm showing how old I am but I'm good with it and still know good classic rock. The venue is very nice. There is some seating, we sat up in the mezzanine level with a great side view of the stage. Sound system was good. Ample space in front of the stage if you want to stand and dance. Staff were friendly and fairly efficient. They will come and you can order drinks but that was a little slow but certainly understand as it was very busy. Enjoyed immensely and hope to return. read more

As beautiful and historic as the restaurant is, the service was mediocre and food is lacking. We were hopping around to different locations trying cocktails during our last night in Golden and stopped in for a drink. The host mentioned it was happy hour but that the bar was full and that we could sit in the lounge, not an issue, but we were never provided menus or told we needed to order at the bar. I was able to get a set of menus when I returned to the host stand and requested them. This was really disappointing considering the lounge is right next to the host stand; there were 3 staff members at the host stand and not one of them realized that we didn't have menus or that we didn't know to order at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick with the drinks and I ended up ordering the Colorado Poutine and the Green Chili Artichoke Dip. The drinks were fine but the food was not good. The green chili gravy lacked flavor that you expect and the artichoke dip was very bland. I could have easily skipped over this place and been much happier. read more

I stopped here for a quick bite before heading to another event, and this place was recommended to me. Buffalo Rose was pretty good, and the atmosphere was great--a nice mix of modern and Wild West. I ended up getting the classic burger, which tasted great, but the price was kinda crazy for how little meat you get. They say it's 1/3 pound, but that's probably before cooking, and by the end of cooking, the burger is about 1/5 pound. Convenient to combine dinner and a show in one night. The restaurant side of the business is well laid out, part indoors, part outdoors. The patio is great for people watching and the food is decently proportional. The burgers are the usje fare but the street tacos were flavorful and warm but not too hot (spicy). Be prepared for the automatically added kitchen tip (under $2.00). Dinner and drinks for 2 was just under $120. The concert hall side of the house is really nice. Buffalo Rose has come a long way in terms of setup as 90% of the venue is seating and the area well maintained. Mezzanine is all rail seating and has a nice view. Perfect for folks who cannot stand for a whole show. GA is standing in front of the stage (the sound is perfectly loud!) while reserved tables just behind. On shows with a strong attendance, I would suggest not taking front row VIP tables. The crowd *may* obstruct the view and your table becomes a dumping ground for people's empty beer glasses and water bottles. Great place to grab a drink and some food. The roof above the bar area is retractable which is unique for the area. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. We were the only ones out there since it was cold out, but they had the fire pits on for us. We had the Sonora Skillet, which was a small portion but good. All the flavors blended well together. The fried chicken and waffle, which was one of their specials, however, was very disappointing. The chicken was very dry and there was literally no seasoning on it, not even salt. Worst chicken and waffles ever, and it was an expensive dish. We also got the bottomless mimosas, which were nothing special but we ended up only having two each. The bill came out to about $100 and we were shocked. I assume the bottomless mimosas were the most expensive but I would have hope that they would offer to price it at the cost of each ($8) since we didn't have much and we were willing to sit out in the cold. Service was ok too, we weren't checked on often as we were the only ones outside. Really wanted to like this place but sorely disappointed. Our experience was not worth $100. read more

Ordered a bison birria quesadilla, honestly didn't come close to anything like the original. The "consomé" was a slush of all sorts of spices with water (more like salsa than broth). All I could taste was the cinnamon and nutmeg, very unpleasant. The burger patty's are so thin and not worth the $20. The service was poor. The female manager does not know how to manage walk-ins and reservations. I observed her walking a party of six, Caucasian men in to the restaurant after 30 minutes of waiting for a table. I was part of a group of 6 - we were three women and three men with diverse, ethnicity. When I addressed it with another host, they asked me to identified the party. I declined politely. They seated us right away. My companion cleared the air by sharing our frustrations. While my companion was gracious enough to clear the air, the manager did not attempt to apologize for her flaws in managing reservations. The appetizer and dessert that we ordered really stole the show for me. We got the green chile artichoke dip to start off and it was So Delicious I was wishing we had more once it was gone. For dessert we got the peach crisp and it was also delicious. The butterscotch ice cream was phenomenal. I got the rose bison burger and it was pretty good but just a tiny bit dry. The cheese on it is sort of like a blue cheese flavor, so if you don't like that you probably wouldn't enjoy it. My friend got the elk burger and he said it was good but pretty dry. He actually added some ranch to it bc he felt it needed more sauce and he said that improved it a lot. But the fries were good! We asked for ranch on the side and the ranch itself was also great! Pretty runny, which is how I prefer it. At first I ordered a dirty Shirley and it was... not good. My friend ended up drinking it and I ordered a pineapple/cherry drink and that was delicious. There was a little bit of a mishap with ordering the second drink because my friend called the server back because he thought I was ready to ask for my second drink, but I wasn't, and it was a little weird and then the server seemed to be very annoyed with us for the rest of the time we were there. read more
