Ambiance is good, grateful for the ac. Wait staff was good and food arrived quickly. Unfortunately the food was not very good. The poke nachos had far too much mayo all over it. The tuna smelled slightly off. We had two orders of the taco trio. The best was the blackened shrimp. The chicken tinga, Calabacitas and the carnitas were non-descript and bland. The cornmeal trout with Southwest grits was bland and grits too thick.
What an awesome spot to hang out on their patio!! We stopped in on Father's Day and there was a guitarist playing the hits and taking requests. It was awesome. We watched some World Cup on their many TVs, had a classic Colorado afternoon thunderstorm and some DELICIOUS nachos. But the most memorable thing for me was the menu. It's an actual newspaper. I've never seen anything like it before and was so unique and gave the history of golden. Will be back!!
Came on a whim & wouldn't do that again. Ordered the fried pickles, street taco trio & grilled buffalo chicken sandwich and overall everything was dry. Dry, dry, dry! Like the Colorado weather.
Best place in town! 5 stars all the way for the rose. They're quite famous for being the oldest bar in Colorado but also great people there. Kevin was my barman the few days I was here and a great dude. Nice girls too my niece might be friends. I had the wings & curds, big pork burrito & the Ruben they were all in house smoked and great. Reasonable prices too u can't beat it. Lots of good bourbon on the list. Live shows when they have em, big name acts. Check out the place for being famous but great food too, and nice people. 5 stars.
Event Center Only Review. aka "The Rose" The Buffalo Rose Event center is a cozy, small, but most comfortable venue for live entertainment. Every seat is a good seat. The sound system is top notch. Inside the auditorium is a well restored old, historic brick building that dates over a 100+ years with a stage and tables, or high tops, and some balcony seating. The food comes from the Buffalo Rose, the restaurant next door and features a more limited bar menu. Sandwiches. There is a full-service bar -- I was disappointed that all the drinks are served in plastic cups/glasses. Not only is that bad for the environment; a drink just does not taste as good out of a cheap dixie cup. The beer is mostly mass-produced canned lagers with very few craft beer selections on tap. The wine is all mass produced, cheap and poor-quality swill. Service was very good each time we have been.
If you ever get the chance to have Deb grace your table, do take the opportunity! She is such a queen- she is personable, kind, and has a one of a kind spunk. She just makes you feel comfortable no matter who you are. I came on 1/10 with my friend for her 30th and it was such an amazing time. From the stunning interior which captured the beauty of the western town feel, the amazing waitress who I mentioned, to the fresh food and ice cold beer. Really this place is unbeatable! I don't typically love burgers but my bison burger was incredible. The ingredients and toppings came together perfectly! Makes me wish I could relocate from Texas to Colorado! Thank you Deb, you are a gem! Stay amazing!
Amazing atmosphere in a historic building in Golden. Good place to take out of town guests. Service was pretty laid back - not a very busy night and I was pretty surprised how little attention we got (order time, refills etc). The Queso was spectacular - very well done with good warm chips 10/10 Bison burger - mediocre - five guys is much better and less $ Fajitas - I had chicken - quite dry and it looked like the setup plate (cheese and such) had been sitting around for a while - things were not fresh. pass. Salmon my wife had was really good - nice big piece, not spicy with GREAT sides. I'd say prices overall were unusually high - one app, one drink and a main came out to $200 with tip. Not crazy but not worth the money for the "average" of the food quality. Didn't leave irritated but also not really satisfied with the experience - will not go back.
Stoped at Buffalo Rose when on a road trip to Golden, CO. Buffalo Rose is a historic restaurant & bar, live performance venue and event center located in the heart of beautiful Golden, Colorado. We just stopped by to have a drink at the bar. The building is newly renovated but has so much history. The location of the modern day Buffalo Rose has been a cornerstone of Golden, Colorado since its founding in 1859. The menu is designed like an old newspaper and has regional American cuisine with a Heavy Latin influence & Western flair. They have a libation for every persuasion at one of our three inviting bars. The bar tender was very friendly and accommodating and made me a custom craft black cherry muddled mezcal margarita, that was not even on the menu. She knocked it out of the park, it was perfectly balanced with a subtle smokiness from the mezcal and just the right amount of cherry flavor without being overly sweet. It was such a hit that other people started ordering it! This Texas girl starting a trend in CO! I also had another round. My friend ordered a Rose old fashioned with Sazerac Barrel Select Rye, Angostura, Orange Bitters, Demerara Simple, Filthy Cherry. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out whether you're grabbing a drink after exploring Golden or meeting up with friends for the evening. Definitely a place I'd return to, especially for the cocktails. We ended up getting a tshirt with the Buffalo Rose logo to remember the experience.
Yum!!! Stopped in here after a long day of traveling and wanted a good bar food spot. The waiter recommended a few different items so we got the bison burger & the bison meatloaf and were both happy with our orders! The meatloaf was a little heavier but that's per expected and it was delicious. Bison burger was so flavorful and delicious. We got our drinks and food very quickly and would definitely come back! Felt very local with families and people after work.
Just what the doctor ordered...a bit of the hair of the dog. After checking out Golden and a bit of Denver yesterday I'm not gonna lie I was feelin it just a bit. Coffee was good but needed something a bit more in the form of a spizzy Bloody Mary. The bartender must have heard my spizzy spizzy request and said "challenge accepted" cause it was sooo good. I backed that with a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile and I walked out a new man. Really cool place, cool staff, good food and drinks to order. Can't go wrong here. Lots of options to choose from.
I lucked out at finding a fabulous restaurant and server today at Buffalo Rose in Downtown Golden Colorado! The atmosphere is trendy for the location western decor. The vibe is relaxed. Small sitting areas with leather chairs and couches, outdoor seating in front of the restaurant, a bar in the back with covered seating and indoor booths and tables. It's just so eclectic and fun! They have a fireplace so this place has it all! Who doesn't want a late lunch at 2:00 pm when you can celebrate happy hour prices on drinks and food on a random Wednesday? Break up the monotony of a boring week by celebrating mid-week for lunch at this restaurant.... and be sure to ask for Bella! Outside the entrance there was a board that attracted us with the daily specials and it drew us in! Not being very hungry, I ordered the delicious, green chile artichoke dip! I don't know what they did or what that recipe is but it is the best freaking artichoke dip I've ever had in my life! My table mate had a burger with fries.. cheese of your choice on the burger for only 10 bucks! Well drinks are 4$ and a buck off drafts. Heck, it was all served up by Bella who was so kind, attentive, graceful and kept up a great conversation each time she came to the table that I have now nicknamed her as,"Bellarina!"
The frozen margs are everything I want and more after a day of tubing down the creek! Staff is super friendly and service has been great. Solid food options as well but the frozen margs steal the show
Located in a historic building nestled in the cute town of Golden. It is a very popular spot for tourists and residents. Service was pretty fast and our waitress gave us some recommendations on places to visit while we were there which we appreciated. Food came out at a great pace. We ordered the buffalo wings and cheese curds as appetizer. The wings were our favorite part of our lunch. More on the vinegary side than spicy. We had the shrimp & grits which my husband enjoyed. Shrimp is a little on the spicier side if you like this dish that way. We also ordered the classic burger & BLTA sandwich. I thought both were just okay. The bread was a bit dry on both. The fries that came with the burger was tasty. Crispy on the outside and soft inside.

A trip to Golden is not complete without a visit to the Buffalo Rose. The oldest bar in the State of Colorado, it has a large selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, but the FOOD is the star of the show. Today, my companion had the classic burger and I had the bison quesabirria. The burger with fries was a solid success. The bison quesabirria was simply the best I've ever had, three corn tortillas folded over perfectly seasoned , cheesy, tender bison, with a warm dipping sauce. It came with one side, and I chose a salad which was really good. The restaurant proudly supports local farmers and brewers. See the attached pictures for menu details including vegetarian options. Our server, Brody, knew the details of every menu item we asked about. He made us feel like valued customers. The building itself is a bit of Golden history. Every area has a story of its own. Nearby paid parking includes two hours of free parking when you scan the QR code. read more
Happy that we stopped at Buffalo Rose in Golden on Labor Day. Great food. We stick to the Green Chili Spinich Artichoke Dip. Just right with a little bite and served with Nacho chips. We also got the wing and cheese curd combo with Ranch and spicy aioli. Buffalo style. Great flavor. Decent portion size. We loved the feel of the old Saloon. The original business dates back to the 1859 and at one point housed an indoor pool. Also loved seeing everyone's dog on the patio. Great place to eat. read more

July 30, 2026 - Golden CO From our table on the shaded, dog-friendly patio, we had a perfect view of the iconic "Howdy Folks!" arch over Washington Avenue, making it a fun place to relax and people-watch. We each enjoyed a glass of La Crema Chardonnay ($13) and shared the Three Amigos appetizer ($13), which comes with tortilla chips, house queso, guacamole, and roasted tomato-jalapeño salsa, along with the Corn and Butternut Enchiladas ($17). At first, I thought the house queso was a little too spicy for my taste, but it quickly grew on me--I couldn't stop dipping chips into it! It was rich, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The guacamole and salsa were also fresh and tasty. The Corn and Butternut Enchiladas were good, though not quite as memorable. I ordered mine with regular cheese instead of the vegan option. The patio was comfortable, and the location made for an enjoyable lunch stop. Just be aware that Washington Avenue is busy, so there is plenty of traffic noise. Overall, we'd stop here again. read more

Another fun time at the Rose! Issac took great care of us as we enjoyed watching the hockey playoffs. He had great beer suggestions and likes the strawberry shortcake! We enjoyed the Rueben with house smoked pastrami on great marbled rye with a spicy sriracha mayo and super fresh side salad. Delicious! My husband had the black bean burger. Yummy! read more

Presentation and scenery are the best thing about this place. Menu looks great but does not deliver on flavor. With the prices, I would expect it to be tastier, but the location delivers for sure. Waitress was very nice but the hostess staff was not great - a bit blunt and unfriendly. read more
We stopped in on July 4 for an appetizer and a couple of drinks. They had a Jimmy Buffett/Beach boys trio that was fun. Always like a place with live music. They have good indoor and outdoor seating. We got the green chili artichoke dip and it was fantastic With fresh made chips. Service was friendly. I have been here before I went on vacation and it is always a stop when I am in Golden. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon this establishment in a flurry, a fleeting moment of passion. And boy were we enamored from the get. We made our way to a bar which single handedly turned our night into something.. well let's say.. we're going bowling. We love what they did for us, a couple dirties, pickles straight from the deep fryer, a small tub of dynamite. It complimented all of itself too well. A beautiful trinity. Good live music and such fast service but their restaurant atmosphere isn't designed for live music appreciation for long. I came here mostly for the ambiance of dinner with live music. They said the music started at 7 so that's when we made a reservation. Unfortunately it didn't start until 7:30 or so and we were almost done eating by then and felt pressured to leave. The food and service was good though! The burrito bowl and veggie tacos are the same price but the veggie tacos are way less food so for GF vegetarian folks like me I would recommend the burrito bowl. We also got the crème brûlée which was great!!! All these items came out within 5 minutes or less of ordering which is honestly magical but it really shortened the experience. Our server was great and my complaint feels like an anti complaint for most people, just if you care about the music come later then they say it will start and eat realllllyyyy slow :). read more

Attended a concert here for our 46th wedding anniversary. Mr. Majestyck 8 Track Revival band. Yes, I'm showing how old I am but I'm good with it and still know good classic rock. The venue is very nice. There is some seating, we sat up in the mezzanine level with a great side view of the stage. Sound system was good. Ample space in front of the stage if you want to stand and dance. Staff were friendly and fairly efficient. They will come and you can order drinks but that was a little slow but certainly understand as it was very busy. Enjoyed immensely and hope to return. read more
As beautiful and historic as the restaurant is, the service was mediocre and food is lacking. We were hopping around to different locations trying cocktails during our last night in Golden and stopped in for a drink. The host mentioned it was happy hour but that the bar was full and that we could sit in the lounge, not an issue, but we were never provided menus or told we needed to order at the bar. I was able to get a set of menus when I returned to the host stand and requested them. This was really disappointing considering the lounge is right next to the host stand; there were 3 staff members at the host stand and not one of them realized that we didn't have menus or that we didn't know to order at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick with the drinks and I ended up ordering the Colorado Poutine and the Green Chili Artichoke Dip. The drinks were fine but the food was not good. The green chili gravy lacked flavor that you expect and the artichoke dip was very bland. I could have easily skipped over this place and been much happier. read more
I stopped here for a quick bite before heading to another event, and this place was recommended to me. Buffalo Rose was pretty good, and the atmosphere was great--a nice mix of modern and Wild West. I ended up getting the classic burger, which tasted great, but the price was kinda crazy for how little meat you get. They say it's 1/3 pound, but that's probably before cooking, and by the end of cooking, the burger is about 1/5 pound. I ended up eating more of the tuna nachos that a friend ordered who only nibbled on. Shoutout to Emma for being a great waitress! Also noticed no Happy Hour while was I there around 4PM. read more
Buffalo rose is a beautiful bar and grill in the heart of golden , such a gorgeous restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere and array of seating options. Luke our server was so lovely and excellent at his job(terrific moustache). Food was so so tasty and done in a jiffy, will be back soon 10/10 read more

I visited the Buffalo Rose the other night with family from out of town. I think it's a great place to bring out of town guests. It's got a super cool vibe and it's in a historic building. It's the kind of place that visitors can think this is Colorado. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice. It was really impressive actually and the food didn't knock anyone socks off. It was a good enough experience that it didn't really matter and I would absolutely go back. read more
