The Genoa and Spaguetti & Sauce.
    Jeffrey F.

Brought my son here one Friday evening and it was hopping for sure. We didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Neat setup inside especially if you get seated upstairs. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food was good and it came out quick. The Genoa was the dish I had and it did not disappoint. Try it out if you're in the area.

Confession time: I had never been to Denver Restaurant Week until this year. Shells and Sauce ended up being my first stop. Located in Congress Park, it has that classic old school Italian neighborhood restaurant feel. The Restaurant Week menu was fun because you could mix and match different courses to build your own meal. We tried a few cocktails to start including the Pearfect Martini and the Gin & Tectonics. Both were refreshing and a nice way to kick things off. For starters we ordered the crispy brussels sprouts, crab cakes, classic Italian Caesar, and the caprese burrata. The brussels sprouts and burrata were probably my favorites of the group. For mains we tried the wild mushroom marsala with veal, the bolognese with angel hair pasta, homemade lasagna, Italian cheese ravioli, and the cacio e pepe with shrimp. It was a good spread of classic Italian comfort dishes. To finish we had the chocolate chip cannolis and the vanilla bean crème brûlée. Overall it was a pleasant experience and a nice introduction to Denver Restaurant Week. Shells and Sauce is a cozy neighborhood spot for classic Italian dishes in the Congress Park area.

What? I didn't leave a review from many years back when we first came here? It was an amazingly deliciously wonderful experience. Apparently we had the chicken Marsala and *loved* it. Many, many years later we finally made our way back here and still loved it! Service was like we were visiting with family or friends. Very accommodating and personal. No one trying to recite memorized descriptions but rather as if they cooked it themselves. The first time we sat upstairs at the bar. This time we sat at a table. Both were comfortable and nice but of course the table provided a little more privacy and space. We had the Shrimp Devalino (sp?) and the pan seared salmon. We swapped half way through so we both could enjoy each. In all honesty the swapped meals fit both of us better (the shrimp was a bit too spicy for me). I hope we head back much sooner next time since there were other items I would like to try. Maybe even for HH?

Y'all. Their gluten free pasta is SO good. I'm not sure what brand it is or if they make it in house it's got that fresh homemade, not falling apart, sauce carrying deliciousness. We went for restaurant week and had a good size salad plus entree each plus dessert split between couple. Def going back! BONUS, the staff was very knowledgeable about GF and specified for celiac (though I think all GF requests should be taken seriously and consistently).

Restaurant week is the best deal, but with going anytime.. A filet stroganoff and pork chop special. Service was fantastic.

Tucked away in the Congress Park neighborhood is Shells & Sauce, one of my favorite places to eat! It's my go-to restaurant to take friends & family. It's very reasonably priced with nice size portions. They serve deliciously consistent Classic Italian dishes, and have gluten-free options too. A couple of tips...make a reservation if you can, this cozy place is always busy & it's closed Sundays & Mondays. There are two dining rooms, one main level & the other upstairs. Just like a noisy Italian family having Sunday supper, Shells & Sauce can get loud. Parking can be a challenge, there is a small parking lot in the back but it's pretty much street parking. We brought our out-of-town friends here one early Friday night. Happy to have made reservations because it was hopping at 5:30pm. Our server was great. She kept our water glasses full & was quick to bring us complimentary (endless) fresh baked bread with a balsamic dipping oil. We had the Scallops & Risotto, Lasagna, Shrimp Carbonara & Shrimp Diavolo. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the lasagna was cheesy & delicious, the carbonara was divine, (best I've had) & the diavolo was spicy & delectable as usual. Our dishes were outstanding. This place is lively & fun, I highly recommend it!

Came for Happy Hour at 4:30pm -- not bad, not great either. * mini grilled salmon, very dry fish but delicious garnish and sauce. * mini Bolognese, it's capellini not penne as advertised, and way overcooked; the 'homemade sauce' tastes surprisingly bland. (FWIW the best pasta for Bolognese sauce is tagliatelle.) I am guessing they probably make these dishes in large batches at the start of Happy Hour that don't taste so good anymore close to 5:00pm. Next time will order from their regular menu. Cozy, homey dining room. Great waitstaff!

Very cute place with good service. Food not my favorite. Denver seems to be lacking in great Italian.

Ask the Community - Shells and Sauce

Still getting familiar with Denver- anyone know if there is a parking lot or garage near by? Or street parking?

Street parking is generally pretty easy around there. We've never had a problem finding a spot within a block or two.

What hours do they serve brunch on Saturday/Sunday?

    I believe 10:30-2:30

Does anyone know if they still serve gnocchi?

Its off the menu at moment, will probably return when the weather gets cooler

I see they just added a cute hanging side on the front, so it's easier to locate. Their interior is divided by the huge rectangular bar in the middle. It gives space to both sides. There are TVs all around. There is also an outdoor patio that is perfect for warmer nights. I've been a handful of times and was able to experience it busy and slow! The first time we went is for an event after a Billy Strings concert, and the place was packed. Even then, the drinks came pretty fast. On the slower times, I was able to order their craftier cocktails. Their cocktails are decent. The major upside of this place is the prices! I find them to be on the cheaper side of Denver drinks. Latchkey has quickly become a go-to of mine and can't wait to see them grow more!

Honestly - fire all around. Everything we had was phenomenal…read more I think they change their menu often but we got - CRAB + CORN HOLUBTSI: which was my favorite thing on the menu. Cabbage wrapped crab and corn. Super flavorful perfectly cooked. - ADJIKA PELMENI: almost like a ravioli or tortellini. Wasn't my favorite, but everyone else loved it. Very earthy. - VEAL + POTATO FLAKE SHASHLIK: basically a shish kebab with veal and potatoes and the sauce they had for it was to die for - SQUASH BLOSSOM FRITTER: not exactly what I expected - it was a flattened fritter with everything on top, but the flavors were super great. - PAN SEARED RED PERCH: instead of perch, they had something similar to salmon and mussels. Everyone loved this dish and thought that the salmon was cooked to perfection. Service was great - no complaints Ambience is quaint and cozy!

Okayyyyyy Molotov, I see you!!!…read more TLDR: I was impressed by pretty much every single thing we ate. Beautiful plates, delicious and surprising flavors, friendly service. For our monthly dinner, my Yelp Elite girlies and I headed to Molotov. I don't know a ton about Ukrainian food but I'm always open to try new flavors and cuisines. I ordered the Moryana cocktail. It was a savory cocktail and had the most unique smell...after some questioning, I think it was the MSG! I didn't love it but it was incredibly unique. We shared all our plates and ordered the Marigold + Charred Leak Babka, Crab + Corn Holubtsi, Adjika Pelmeni, Veal + Potato Flake Shashlik, Squash Blossom Fritter, Pan Seared Red Perch, and Beet S'more. Standouts for me were the Crab + Corn Holubtsi, Veal + Potato Flake Shashlik and Beet S'more. The Crab + Corn Holubtsi was fantastical. If you love corn, you should get this. It's a great combo of flavor, a little sweet, savory, and the textures throughout are excellent and balanced. The Beet S'more is delightful. The marshmallow is bright and tangy which pairs so well with the white chocolate and the ice cream brings it home! It was the perfect ending to our meal. Shout out to the salmon that was so perfectly seared, I could've cried. I believe the red perch was replaced with salmon. Service was great, our server knew all the details on the dishes and was super helpful. 10/10 recommend y'all. You guys have to try this place out! Also, reminder, it is a tiny space (with beautiful decor might I add), so I would make a rezy.
