I went to the restaurant to pick up my order, not to have it delivered. The Hummus meat did not taste fresh. It was oversalted. I won't be eating there again. Some friends and I went here for dinner this past Saturday night. Four of us arrived a little before 6:30 and we thought we had two more joining us. I swear the ladies working seemed really put off that we didn't have reservations. They said we could sit at the table that had 5 chairs (we did have a toddler with us), or sit at a table outside. We went outside to sit and a few texts later to our other friend we found out there was only going to be 5 of us total. That worked out since in the few minutes we were outside no one came out to check on us. We were able to seat ourselves at the table inside. We started with the humus plate and pita bread. Not my favorite. The pita was thin and the humus was just meh. My friends seemed to like it, though. I ordered the pistachio crusted chicken and that was gooood. The chicken was tender and the pistachio crust was not overwhelming like I thought it would be. It was a solid dish. It came with rice and veggies, but I was too full from the humungous chicken to eat much of that. I also took a bite of my friends curry chicken, and it was really good too. Overall not a bad time and the main course made up for the humus. PS - this place is BYOB. read more

Very small cozy little gem. Service is friendly and the food is phenomenal. Seriously. Portions are generous and quality is spot on. On one visit we both ordered the Gyro salad. The meat was delicious. The vegetables in the salad were fresh and crisp. This dish alone is enough for two, especially if you order an appetizer. We ended up taking home left overs. The Dolmoths are delicious and come seven to an order. That's a big appetizer people. Big enough for several people to share. I prefer mine heated. There's are cold. They make their own tzatziki, hummus, and, yogurt. Oh man, that fresh yogurt is amazing! Remember that when you're enjoying your pita bread and Hummus, it is finger food. My partner was spreading the hummus on the bread like it was butter! I had to school him. Tear the bread into pieces and dip into the hummus. The rack of Lamb here is crazy good. It normally comes with roasted vegetables and vermicelli. That's the way I ordered it, but, my partner asked to substitute the roasted veggies and rice for a salad instead. They happily did so. The sub salad was a big portion topped with freshly shaved cheese. The dishes I've had here have been spot on. They also serve breakfast (limited American), and, they are BYOB. read more

A couple of my friends and I had dinner here on a cold Saturday night. Their outside patio was empty but inside was a full house. It was so small and your conversation echos...well, our laughs did. We just have awesome loud laughs, thats why. :) portion was average but price was pricey! we had a little piece of hummus and it was 8.99. We also got dolmax, 7 pieces but also little. I didnt care much for it. Didn't think it was tasty. For my entree, I had the kafta kabob. It was beef with lamb marinated with an array of spices. That was good but little for $12.99. What threw me off was the fact that the waitress/owner never came by to see if we were doing okay and we asked for the check ten times. She was the only one running the place on a Saturday night. My favorite place for lunch, period! I love Sevan. I happened to stumble upon it three years ago shortly after I moved to the Dallas area. I am sure glad I did because it has become a staple of my diet. I love their lunch sandwiches. My favorite is the kafta sandwich which is a nicely flavored and grilled meat served with tasty hummus wrapped in some pita bread with some kind of pickle and lettuce/tomatoes. Its super good. My second favorite is the chicken sandwich which is very similar except it comes with freshly grilled chicken pieces and some amazingly good garlic sauce. I also have had the gyro sandwiches, but the kafta and chicken are just so good that I barely mix it up. They are priced nicely at $5.50 each and so are pretty affordable. You can also add a tasty greek salad for 2.50$ more. I have also had the tilapia several times for dinner, and this is one of my favorites as well. Its always a very generous cut of fish that is cooked perfectly and has great flavor. They serve it over some kind of rice and some grilled veggies. They serve this for $11.99, so its a bit out of my price range for frequent eating (i am a poor student), but definitely one of the best dishes. The owners are a very nice and friendly family. In fact, when I phone in my to go orders, they already know its me which is really funny and nice. I need to expand my selections on their menu. One thing I really wish they had which they dont is the option to order just straight up falafel as an appetizer. I have had the falafel sandwich several times and I really like the falafel, and sometimes I just want to eat them alone with some sauce, but unfortunately its not an option. read more

When I told her how much I liked their kibbe and baklava she asked why.l, then proceeded to tell me all about kibbe and baklava explaining how they do theirs which explained why I found theirs to be exceptional. I really want to give this place 4 stars because the waitress was so sweet and the whole experience (being the only customers in an obviously family-run restaurant) reminded me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I instantly adored the waitress, who came rushing to the door to encourage me to come in (when she saw me waiting for my boyfriend to park the car), then asked me if I'd like a booth or a table, then said with a shy little smile, "you should take the booth" in a very friendly accent when she saw me hesitating. She was very attentive throughout the meal, but THANK GOD not overly obnoxious or lurking. Perfect. Also, our food was delivered in record time (wow, so that's what it's like having a restaurant to yourself!) My reason for giving it 3 stars is primarily the location (unfair, perhaps, but my main emotion is apprehension rather than hunger when I pull up to a little poorly-lit row of ramshackle storefronts...kinda spoils the appetite) and the greasiness of the food. Yes, yes, it's Greek food, I understand, but I like the light and healthy version, not the version where they make a little indentation in your hummus AND your baba ghanoush and pour in copious amounts of olive oil. Also, speaking of the hummus -- why all the raving? This is what I *expect* hummus to be!! I've had hummus like this at countless Greek and Mediterranean restaurants. It's good, yes, but nothing to write home about. That said, the flavors of our entrees WERE something to write home about. I had the gyros plate, and the meat was incredibly seasoned and unbelievably tender -- I barely even needed a knife to cut it. (However, I had to start dabbing it with napkins when I realized that the pitas underneath it were sopping wet from the grease the meat was slowly dripping onto them.) My boyfriend had the Kashmir chicken, which was also amazing. It tasted almost like Indian food, but in a deliciously non-spicy way (hallelujah). I'm glad I didn't order it, though, because the sauce was so rich and creamy, I would have been dying if I had been forced to eat the whole thing. It was a little awkward being the only customers -- with no background music, I felt like our entire conversation was being subtly listened to by the family's grandmother, who was sitting in a back booth. Yeah, a little awkward. I guess that's what you get on a Monday night at 8 pm in a tiny little don't-look-twice junket in one of the less savory areas of Greenville. This is a wonderful placed tucked away in what seemed like a mini strip mall. The atmosphere inside is very relaxed. Seemed like a family owned business so you get the old fashion southern/western care. They do not serve alcohol but you are encouraged to bring your own. Absolutely a great place to check out. I am v v sad that this is my first time here...they have been in business for 15 years and I absolutely see why! I ordered to go food and although I did not dine in my experience was amazing. There was an online ordering option, but I prefer to give my business/tip to the actual restaurant not third-party vendors. I ordered 2 gyro plates with extra tzatziki, garlic and hot sauces. Sometimes to go orders are kind of an afterthought but that was absolutely not the case. The lady who took my order was incredibly efficient, and the gentleman (who I believe is the chef as well?) showed me all the items and made sure it they were exactly what I ordered. I was on the hunt for an excellent gyro. I had heard this place was pretty tasty so thought we would give it a go. The interior was small and very homey with a nice "we get regulars and take care of them" feel. I believe it is byob and saw families sitting and the parents (as opposed to the kids) opening bottles of wine. It felt old country. In their defense we got the order to go and my wife's order was pretty good. Unfortunately my quest for a moist gyro slathered in tzatziki with onions was a fail. Racist remarks towards me and my group of Friends. Both owners were so rude because wanted our lamb well done. They said you "You Indian people should not order lamb because you don't know how to eat lamb" How the hell does she even know if we are Indian? There no need to tell people how their food is burnt meat. "13 years we serve American people and we make food for American people" Ummm I am an American too. This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants - I come here at least once a month! I usually get takeout from here when I don't feel like cooking but still want to eat fresh, healthy food. I almost always get the Gyros Plate with a Greek salad because it's consistently delicious, but I tried the Spanakopita for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. They also offer sandwich specials during lunch for a low price. The restaurant is family-run and has a cozy, intimate atmosphere. BYOB is a nice touch. I've gotten to know the friendly owners and appreciate how they remember my name, what I do for a living, etc. This place withstood the brutal construction on Lower Greenville, which says a lot! read more

Recently went there on a Friday night as we recently moved to the neighborhood. Was pleasantly surprised at how full and cute the restaurant was. It feels like a mom and pop spot, with great service. Food was delicious and the interior felt very authentic and welcoming. It is BYOB, so we went to the corner store next door to grab a bottle of wine, no corkage fee if you spend $30/couple. All menu items were between $15-25, pretty reasonable for the portions. We ordered the sampler as an appetizer and tried the chicken curry and pistachio chicken for entrees. I believe I've found my go-to Greek spot. How, after 27 years of living on this city, have I not dined at this long-lived establishment? The cafe recalls the time when restaurants were at a tad bit slower of pace and social media sounds like Tolkien language to them. Service is in the same scale: so gracious an hospitable yet take their time. But damn - they cook some mean Mediterranean food. The dolmas were divine and the Pistachio Chicken stuffed with feta cheese shan't be overlooked. Oh, and did I mentione it's BYOB!? The adorable interior is something you'd probably expect from a restaurant that's been on the block a while. Lively murals painted on the walls, small cafe tables, quirky but cute framed pictures of the Old Country. However, my favorite aspect of the atmosphere had to be the overwhelming coziness of the place. The warm welcoming felt by the genuine and kind staff makes you feel as if you are coming home for the holidays. Maybe it's the Greek culture so well known for comraderie and family.
