Honestly, this was one of our best experiences in Dallas food wise and service wise. The basil hummus and muhammara were tasty and fresh. The fresh baked pita was wonderful. The Greek salad was so colorful and had a perfect amount of dressing on it. The beef dumplings were pan fried perfectly, and the sauce on top was an excellent addition. The chicken tawook presentation was lovely and the chicken and sauce were great. The lamb stuffed ravioli was small and could've used more flavor. The drinks were good as well. Babel Dallas Mediterranean cuisine located in the Oaklawn gayborhood of Dallas Texas. The experience begins outside as one approaches the the entrance you are presented with a towering structure beckoning of early 700 BC a presence of stature fortrice weathered forbidden access this is a solid over arching metal and wood door a gate a portal heavy yielding only to the worthy and adventurous. The balance of strength gave me access to a billowing cloth surely to forbid the weathers of the day from access but permitting human solice. This is Babel. The parting of the tatters of my day are quickly released and a respite begins with a pleasent voice welcoming. This hospitality comes from Jasmine who with the pleasentry of a professional and the kindness of joy welcomes. I was caught alight as I arrived a full 30 min prior to my appointed fortunate that Jasmine set aside and quickly assured me she would find me a place to rest and ralax. The entry space is comfortable with a full height exposure bright mutted decore which adds to the name and cuisine vibe. Jasmine showed me to a well appointed white linen table simple clean lines and a matching simple service. Jasmine was quick to notice the table lumination needed to be addressed. She quickly suggested checking my hat and coat. This is always a plus in my book. The space with its tall ceiling and wide open space invoked a sense of the Mediterranean scene. There is a full service bar and a glass walled private dining space over all the main floor can accommodate approximately 109 guest comfortably. The atmosphere was dim to the perfect tone with the table lumes back lit by the wall and over head glow. The music was modern mix with a hint of the traditional modif to taste. This evening I was to be guided by Server AaLijah a recent transplant from Pennsylvania Lennox city. I appreciate when the service allows for a period to appreciate the wine list and the menu. Not rushed but observed. Upon reviewing the wine list of which covered the broad compliment from bubbles to reds and whites from a global selection. I decided on a bottle of bubbly as i always recall by ZaZa when there is champagne always do champagne or proseco in my case. The menu was well thought out not over optioned just the correct balance and broad selection to complete a seven course if the guest so pleased. The entrys covered a lovely Lamb thru to chicken and two womderful fish offerings. I was looking for lamb as this fair has not arrived in the area. As i sat quietly inhaling the experience i settled to observe the other guest. There was a large party of 15 smartly dressed i quickly noted the guys i would flirt had the opportunity arised but sadly they were engaged in a birthday gathering. The majority of the other 12 tables were couples or just friend celebrating. I sat enjoyed my bubbles and light reading thanks to Jasmine the table glowed. The staff moves quickly each carefully scanning the floor eyes up quick to ensure every guest was cared for. Bubbly is really best served cold my glass was changed out and refilled just as the pre course arrived my favorite broiled Brussels in a dark char glaze heaven. Yes bubbles a book little music laughs joy and brussels delicious. The tall flute was taken away and my primary was they in front of me a beautiful raw lamb with jullie vegetables asparagus another flute of bubbles and brussles. It is best to order the bottle of bubbles over the glass says ZaZa so i comply i appropriate how the AaLijah changed out my flute and filled fresh. The lamb was perfect the gastronomic was memorable the brussels perfect. AaLijah figured my weak spot and offered up a Bruled Terramasu with ice cream. There goes my gym gains. She surrender the bubbles into the flute and this was the lead to the end of my perfect lamb bubbles and brussels at Babel. AaLijah o begged of the desert to a desert escape bag my secret endulgence later tonight. I gave my best to AaLijah a new comer to Dallas shared the excitement of Oaklawn and baid good night as i noted the Babel at closed 30 minutes prior but the main floor was still full of life laughs and music. Spectacular Lebanese style Mediterranean food in a beautiful setting. As foodies, my son and I were extremely impressed from the moment we entered through the large wood doors. We were promptly seated, actually a few minutes early, for our 7:15 pm Saturday evening reservation. The restaurant is nicely decorated including white table linens. Service is very helpful and attentive. Our waiter, Furkan, was extremely pleasant and "spot on" with his recommendations the entire evening. We tried numerous hot and cold mezza, including fried kebbeh, shish barak, falafel and our personal favorites, tabbouleh, baba ghanoug with pomegranate seeds and warm basil hummus with beef and pine nuts. The spices in all the mezzas were amazingly identifiable and well balanced. All mezzas were hand plated by our waitstaff, a very upscale touch! For our main courses we shared the baked kafta and potatoes along with the chicken tawook, (a taurine of chicken shish and rice covered with a pita like top, which was rolled back during the serving process). The white garlic sauce that accompanied the chicken tawook was exceptional. Both of these dishes were authentic and beautifully presented, especially the chicken dish. Once again the waitstaff hand plated our shared entrees. Throughout the entire meal, our waiter and the general manager, Egzon, stopped by numerous times to check on us. This definitely enhanced the evening without be intrusive. For dessert we opted for the pistachio cheese cake, flavored with orange blossom. An amazing ending to a fabulous meal. The ambience, service and food were all flawless and Babel is a hidden gem (but the secret is definitely getting out). Babel feels like DFW's answer to upscale Middle Eastern dining, and the biggest win? We're finally getting dishes beyond the basic shawarma and fattoush. The menu leans tapas/family-style with unique dishes like shish barak and multiple hummus options. The shish tawook (chicken) and batata harra (spicy potatoes) were standouts, though a few other dishes landed cold or a bit underseasoned. That said, our waiter Christian absolutely stole the show!! Electric energy, prompt service, and genuine conversation that elevated the night. You can tell they're still ironing out a few opening kinks, but once the flow is locked in, this will easily be a go-to for date nights or GNOs. It's swanky without being stuffy, and I'm already excited to come back, especially with live DJs or entertainment reportedly coming on weeknights. Unfortunately, Babel was a big disappointment. It was primarily the mains. $60 for 4 very small lamb chops and $69 for Branzino both of which were undercooked and not well prepared. Lamb was full of grisly fat with no sides or anything for $60. Branzino was soaked in oil (dripping off the fish / fork). The menu, ambiance and service was all good. Food quality and preparation was very poor with very premium prices. Really wanted it to be good. read more

Had to come back and give this place another try and I was not wrong! I was craving their lamb chops since last Saturday! The food is outstanding as I mentioned in my previous review as well! We ordered Greek salad, fried Kebbeh, Basil Hjmmus with beef and pine nuts and shish Barack for appetizers and all of them were delicious! For main dishes we chose lamb chops( MUST TRY) and kafta with potatoes. We did not have room for dessert but I'm sure that's outstanding too! I do believe that last time the restaurant had an odd night because tonight everything was perfect! I did talk to general manager and they do indeed have a room for staff and they also provide meals for staff as well so that was reassuring! We got lucky to have the same waiter as last time, Rami does a great job! He will take care of you from beginning to end! We tried their old fashioned and I ordered couple Negronis and every cocktail was very decent! I did check the restrooms and everything is working and paper towels are restocked. So I do recommend this place because the food is awesome and the team is trying their best! If you do want to have great Mediterranean food this is your place! read more

The food is incredible -- every dish is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated without being over the top. The vibe is exactly what Uptown has been missing: elegant and stylish, but totally unpretentious. On Saturday nights, they have a DJ who sets the tone with great music that brings energy to the room without overpowering it, making it ideal for a date night, dinner with friends, or just a night out. The menu is stacked with standouts: the spicy hummus topped with beef tenderloin and served with fresh baked pita bread is an absolute must-have. We enjoyed the kibbe nayee which had a modern twist and the lamb ravioli is outstanding -- tender, delicate pillows of pasta filled with slow-cooked lamb. For entrees we tried the wagyu strip, lamb chops, and whole branzino - all perfectly seasoned. Save room for the the baklava and pistachio cheesecake! We are all fans of Open Sesame, so we were so excited to hear about Babel! This place is gorgeous--huge front entrance door (it's real heavy so work out beforehand jk), high ceilings, tall columns, and recessed caverns for private booths. The service was excellent and helpful and they packaged all our food so nicely. Foods that stood out most to me were the fresh pita, baba ghanoush, basil hummus, Truffle Fries, and lamb rack. The fattoush and tabbouleh were so fresh and delicious, tasted identical to the ones at Open Sesame. The lamb rack was super tender and flavorful with a great accompanying sauce. The chicken and beef kebabs were kind of meh to me--the chicken was sort of dry and needed a sauce or something to help with flavors. The beef kebabs had some sort of spice in it that wasn't my favorite, but still decent. The food was SO good. We got the chicken dish which everyone else also seemed to order. the greek salad was so fresh. the hummus was delicious and came with fresh pita. Service was good... My only complaint was that we had a reservation at 5:30 and they had a party coming in at 7, but they kept reminding us that they had a big party coming in. Felt like they wanted us to hurry up, but then they just moved us to a different table, which wasn't a big deal... but they could've sat us there in the first place. Highly recommend going with a larger group of people to share different items. My favorite things on the menu were the labneh, tabbouleh, chicken tawook and the brussel sprouts. The experience was super elevated with white table cloths and the waiter serving you each dish - Christian was a lovely server! For dessert, we had the pistachio cheesecake - it was interesting. Maybe too many flavors with the hints of lemon, rose water and pistachio. I wish it had more pistachio flavor. I hope you be back soon! read more

This place is a gem. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed -- soft lighting, friendly chatter, and music just low enough to keep things comfortable. The food was the real standout. The food and atmosphere deserve a 5. Our app and all our mains were excellent and the price was reasonable for the quality. Would probably give it 4.5 stars if that were an option, but can't give it a 5 because of the service. I couldn't help feeling throughout the meal they were either trying to get us out as soon as possible, that they were short of dishware, or that that had been overtrained. The person who brought the appetizer started to serve us and asked if it was okay. We are more than capable of taking a dip from a plate. They poured the beer from the bottle into my glass without asking if that is what I wanted, which I generally don't because it tends to get warm faster in the glass. We had a different person: take our order, bring our drinks, bring our appetizer, clear our plates and bring the check, which seemed odd. We were nursing our appetizer when they server came by and picked up the plate to split the remainder into thirds and serve each of us. When they brought out the mains they gave us an extra plate and seconds later the server came by to try and whisk away the clean extra plate. I was still finishing my dinner and someone came by and started to grab my plate and I told them I wasn't finished. Literally 3 or 4 seconds later the main server came by and started to grab the plate. It really got to the point of being annoying. Conversely, while none of our water glasses were completely empty, no one came by to refill them until right before the check arrived. That is doubly silly, because what is the point of filling them when we are about to leave? We were in and out in just under an hour and the place was still not full when we left. We will very likely return because the food was excellent. But if there is a repeat of the sense of trying to turn the table as quickly as possible we won't be back for a third time. read more

Place has potential. They need some more operational and kitchen organization. We went there for Valentine's Day. We were most excited to try their whole branzino (for 2). When we got there, a surprise! Valentine's Day prix fixe menu! No other menu offered and no whole branzino to be found. No worries, we go with the flow and decide to stay because it was vibey and food looked promising online. Our total dinner took 2 1/2 hours (and that's with skipping dessert and taking it to go) because everything was so unorganized. We were not planning on staying there that long. Went in on Valentine's Day and it was a great experience from start to finish. You walk in and the design and decor is warm and unique. Our server was quick and attentive despite being really busy. The Kibbeh Niyeh is a must try. The hummus with filet was amazing. Batata harra solid. And then to finish it all off the pistachio cheesecake was a 10/10. Kunafa was also really good. Started off on the wrong foot when we weren't seated until 45 mins after our reservation time. I understand things don't always go as planned but respectfully, 45 mins is pushing it and all we got in return was an apology. Food was overall good but the baba ghanoush was okay. We loved the pistachio cheesecake! The viral espresso martini tasted like an ordinary espresso martini with a garnish of a single square of dubai chocolate which was underwhelming considering the drink was $25. Was hoping for more vegetarian options or at least one entree that could be vegetarian but there were none. We wouldn't have came if we could see the menu prior, but it wasn't available on the website. Also, the music was a bit too loud to the point where you could barely hear what someone at the dinner table was saying. read more
