Sevan's was recommended to me by a foodie friend & it does not disappoint. I had the falafel sandwich & greek salad at lunch and it was a lot of food. The sandwich was freshly made and big. We were headed to upper Greenville and saw this place. We wanted Mediterranean. Walking in we see about 12 tables but we thought it was quaint so we thought we would try it. It took a little while for someone to take our order but we were in no hurry. We order the appetizer for the hummus eggplant and the regular. It came with a little bit of oil in the middle so we mix them up. It came with pita, now maybe I'm not an expert but we thought it was a little elastic. The hummus was simple so not much flavor to it. I have made hummus myself and not sure why there was little flavor. We got the kafta kabob and the gyro plate. Since we are no strangers to this cuisine, we found it odd that the gyro meat was a flat rectangular cut instead of the typical long diamond cut from the spit. It was hot and the plate hat plenty of food on it. The kafta kabob, per my spouse, had too much brown sugar in it. Too sweet. Again the amount of food was adequate. We will try the place once more as the menu says the food is cooked to order so maybe it was an off day. read more

I hate to be the vote of dissent, but since Yelp is all about being honest, I have to do just that. We went to Sevan this past weekend, based wholly on the reviews on Yelp. We were expecting a great meal at a great price, and instead ended up with an OK meal at what I don't consider to be a deal. Yes, it was BYOB, which is always a plus, and there is a patio, but if we're just looking at the food, it was simply ok. Here's what we had: 1. Mezza Plate (hummus, baba, dolma and tabbouleh): The plate is $10. It has a small serving of each dip (maybe 2 tablespoons), and 3 small dolma. It all tasted fine. 2. Pita: I was expecting fluffy and warm. Instead, the pita was flat--flatter than a tortilla- and although warm, just not what I was hoping for. We asked for some more and a second basket costs $1 more. Not a huge deal, but just giving you all the info. 3. Gyro plate: I found the meat overly salty and somewhat dry/tough. It tasted processed to me. 3. Spanikopita: I love spanikopita (as does my 7 year old who ordered this) and this was, like the rest, ok. For $10, you get 3 pieces with a small side of tomato sauce. It was a dinner entree so I would've loved to see a small side salad with it or just a few grilled veggies to round out the meal. 4. Moussaka: This was my biggest disappointment with the meal. The bechamel sauce was just too thick of a layer, the meat was too greasy, and overall it just sort of seemed like a moussaka from a diner (I'm from NY so this is a staple at greek diners.) It came with a few pieces of grilled veggies on the side. I think it was $15? With tip, the meal was over $50. I know that's not a ton of money, but it was too much for this meal. The food wasn't inherently bad, but it wasn't good enough and the portions weren't big enough to warrant another trip. There you go....a voice of dissent. Sorry Sevan. :( read more

This place in on our circuit of local restaurants. It's never that crowded and they have a good patio where unruly kids won't be as disruptive. It's not as trendy as some of the newer restaurants coming into lowest Greenville but seems to stick around while the others go out of business. read more

By far the best Hummus you can get in Dallas. It gives restaurants in the Middle East tough competition.

This place is not your typical Dallas scene and the food is pretty darn good. Lahmajon, a Turkish dish not common to Dallas restaurants - is very tasty as were the hummus and kafta. Add in the BYOB and it becomes an economic play (at least for drinkers) and I think this is one of the places you have to consider for a low-key evening. I ordered hummus and pita as an appetizer and the gyros plate. The gyro meat was great, tzatziki was good, and the pita bread was terrible. Pretty hard and felt like it had been reheated, some of it was downright cold. The hummus tasted pretty good, but having to use that pita as a medium for eating it was unfortunate. Brought my husband, who was weary at first, and now loves the place more than I do. Their mazza plate, pistachio chicken, salads and gyros are top-notch. The food is deliciously consistent. I'm in love with their spanakopita, so simple, yet flavorful and fresh. Some reviewers have knocked the wait time and service, but there are cultural differences to keep in mind. They take their time preparing/cooking each dish and consider approaching your table every 5 minutes as intrusive service. i have been here twice now, and i love it. their food is fantastic and not that expensive. the pistachio crusted chicken and kashmir chicken (curry creme sauce with raisins) are both very delicious. the portions are big enough to split, or in my case, take home the leftovers for a yummy lunch the next day. my only complaint is the parking. since it's on greenville avenue, it's really hard to find a parking space on a friday or saturday night, but it's worth the effort. read more
