After enjoying Easter Brunch at Settler's Bay earlier this year, we decided to celebrate our birthdays there as well and it didn't disappoint! It's off the beaten path too, with beautiful views. I made reservations; however, we were there early for dinner, so it was fairly quiet, which was nice. It became busier as the evening went on. Service was excellent, our server was jovial and attentive! Cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert! We were all beautifully miserable by the time we walked out two hours later! We never felt rushed, nor ignored and that was a great way to casually celebrate! I walked along the cook line thanking each one of them for the fabulous dinner! Easter Brunch will definitely be a new tradition and I wouldn't hesitate to go for dinner throughout the year, especially for a celebration. read more

Loved the location, the decor and ambiance. The view is magnificent. We were a very large party and got seated inside within minutes. The menu has outstanding options for adults and children. The drinks were outstanding and the older kids loved the hot chocolate The food was delicious and every one of us ordered different things and we all loved it. Highly recommend the scallops wrapped in bacon. Desserts were awesome from the peanut pie, the chocolate cake and the best carrot cake ever. The service was MAGNIFICENT. Love this place never had a bad meal here. I wish it was a bit cheaper but excellent food and atmosphere, 1000% recommend the blueberry lamb. I only had the salad when I visited Settlers bay lodge 7/10/25. Unfortunately the salad gave me a nasty case of food poisoning. The salad seemed to be the only option as I do not eat meat or dairy products. I hope that they review food handling protocols and do better in the future. I've been going here throughout the years. The most recent visit I was disappointed. I ordered the curry and my boyfriend and his son ordered the tempura shrimp and scallops. First off it was yellow curry. It was so spicy, and the curry did not have a good flavor. I like spicy, but this was way over the top. Yellow curry is supposed to be the mild of the curries. I couldn't eat it. The chicken was dry, which its chicken breast, to be expected. I should have sent the dish back. The tempura shrimp and scallops was more of a beer batter than tempura. We did order dessert, carrot cake, cheesecake, and crème brûlée. My BF was not impressed with the cake. The other 2 were ok. Our bill was $160 with tip and we left disappointed. Not sure if I'll go again. read more

So disappointing. The food LOOKS great. Tasting it is a whole different story. It's such a beautiful location it's a shame the food isn't up to par. Ordered a spicy bloody Mary. They made it spicy by putting a bunch of ground up pepper in it. How can I say tastefully yuck!? The appetizers were the best part although some things were over salted and some had no seasoning at all. I'd say if you're going to come here, make a meal of the appetizers and grab a brew. The steaks were tough and chewy with very little viable meat. My medium was rare. Colossal eye roll. The service was the only thing that saved this experience. Our food was good, although it took quite a while to receive. Our server was honestly pretty absent. It was not the worst service I have received, but definitely wasn't the best. One of our steaks came out with French fries, even though it was advertised to come with potatoes and veggies. The veggies were good, but came out lukewarm. My steak was cooked PERFECTLY. The desserts were good. I had the peach crumble. In my opinion, it could use more crumble, but it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, the experience was okay. The restaurant is well lit and clean. I will definitely come back. PS. Bring back the spinach salad. read more

The scallops & , shrimp-were perfectly cooked in a rich and creamy sauce that was Devine. It struck the perfect balance of a delicious garlic, buttery goodness with the cream. Just the right amount of sauce that every bite was covered in sauce but somehow it packed a punch of flavor in every bite. I wish tomorrow wasn't my last day in Wasilla before heading home because I could come to this place everyday I was so good. Now for the final treat, the view. Nestled on a hill overlooking this beautiful lake with mountains in the background I'm struggling to paint a picture worthy of that view. When I first arrived I thought to myself this place must survive purely on the views given the bad reviews. Not at all, even though I would put this view as my top 2-3 ever at a restaurant ( Compared to a Michelin restaurant in Cannes France overlooking the Ocean, a restaurant at the top of a mountain in Keystone Colorado, and this place all breathtaking. Having said that, I actually think the food was better than the view if that's possible. Next time I make it back to Alaska, this place will be my first stop for certain. I sure hope when I make it back in a year or two it's performing at this level because this was an experience I won't soon forget. We went to settlers bay Lodge for our 47th anniversary compliments of our daughter. We were hoping for a wonderful dining experience. We were seated in our waitress, brought our drinks but no bread. We proceeded to order our appetizers. The appetizer came, but still no bread. My orange ginger shrimp was out of this world. By far the best dish we got that night. My husband ordered the kalbi short ribs. My first bite was so chewy and tough that I didn't eat anymore. Still no bread. We asked and she said she was going to bring it with our meal. That did not sit well with us. We finally got our main course, which was the ribeye. The most expensive steak they had. many times I've been in that restaurant in the first thing you get is bread. We finally got our main course and it was a steak so thin you could see through. It was overcooked and did not have the toppings we ordered. We sent it back and they sent us another thin steak with two of the toppings, but forgot the third topping so they bring out this gloppy Bernaise sauce. Nasty tasting. So disappointing. Our crème brûlée was delicious to be honest. But the rest of the dinner was challenging to say the least. We will never spend another dollar there again. I would give it at 2 1/2 stars. read more
