If you are in need of some quick Italian/American comfort food you may consider coming to Marcello's but it is not a location I would recommend to my friends and family. The food was Americanized Italian food and while the portion size was significant, authenticity was lacking. We enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer but felt rushed during the experience because the appetizers, breadsticks, and entree all came to the table at exactly the same time. While there did appear to be tasty specials available, we were never read or provided information about the specials that day nor provided with a recommendation. Called at 9pm on Saturday and ordered the Shrimp Ravioli special for simplicity, hadn't really eaten all day and they were delicious but $33.77 with tax; for exactly 3 shrimp with tail-on and around 5 big cheesey raviolis with a soup or salad and 3 garlic-bread-sticks, I'll return to try the $19 calzones but that was ravioli with shrimp. read more

Nice small standard Italian fare with large portions which we split and that was enough food. The breadsticks were soft and fresh. Spaghetti with vegetables was well cooked and tasted good. The baklava was also good. The restaurant is set in a little strip mall next to a gun shop and a fast cash store. there was constant quiet, elevator music playing in the background. Came in after doing a short hike at the Butte at 3:30pm. There wasn't a wait and service was prompt. We ordered the tzatziki appetizer - the pita was crisp and the tzatziki was fresh. I had the gyro dinner and my friend ordered the moussaka, which I never have had before. The gyro was pretty okay, lots of meat but lacking anything else. Could have used more onion and tomato because the meat was in abundance and overpowered it. I tried the moussaka, a Greek eggplant lasagna, and it was interesting. I wasn't expecting cinnamon in the sauce. It was nice, a little different but nice. I would come back again but it wasn't the best Greek food I have had for the price. read more

I came in with my husband last week after a long, hard day, eager to have some of the great food. I usually find at this restaurant. The waitress took our order and then came back to ask me if I wanted this ziti or maybe a different ziti but she wasn't really sure what the difference was between them. I ordered a salad with an Italian or a vinaigrette dressing and my husband ordered soup along with his meal. She brought out his entrée and dropped it on the table and left and a minute or two later brought out mine. I told her I really wanted the salad first, so I got that along with a container of balsamic vinegar, I told her I'd rather eat my food hot, but she did not take back the pasta to keep it warm. When I expressed my displeasure with the way, the meal was coming together she snapped that it was her first week. No apology, no effort to fix anything, and when I said, I wasn't going to eat, but would wait for my husband she just boxed everything up and stuck it on the table. I've worked food service as have most adults at one point or another and I gotta tell you, this is not how it's done. If this was poor training, that's the restaurants problem to fix. If it's poor attitude, hers hadn't gotten any better by the time we left. This is not how one survives in a service industry. read more

I don't know why so many reviews are low. While not a 5 star restaurant, it is tasty comfort food with friendly staff. We eat there every couple months, swinging by when in the mood for something tasty, filling and inexpensive. We just had four adults eat for $50. A small pepperoni pizza that is as big as a medium in other restaurants, two entrée sized soups, and everyone had drinks (two teas, coffee, coke) and a hard blueberry seltzer. Delicious garlic mashed potatoes. Months ago I reviewed Marcello's in Anchorage. I'm not sure which location came first, but the garlic mashed potatoes were delightful both places. After a long couple days of moving houses and organizing all our stuff, the delivery provided by this place was a godsend. It took about 90 minutes for the order to arrive, but that's how long they said it would be. In addition to the meals, they also included complimentary bread sticks. The portion sizes were perfect and all the food was tasty and warm. Not hot, but hey, it was delivered! Everything was pretty salty, which was a little bit of a bummer. I will ask for less salt, if possible, next time. read more

Before you read on, you need to lnow I give the pizza 5 stars! Starting with a friendly, helpful server, Michelle, we ordered side salads. Our server said the dressings are all made in-house. The salad is mostly iceberg lettuce with shredded carrot, black olives and croutons. Because the salad is so basic and old school, my review is 4 star. For a restaurant to be a five-star it needs to be excellent in all aspects. The personal pizza is only on the lunch menu but kids and seniors can order a small pizza. We shared a regular 12 inch House pizza and it was great! It was very flavorful and the toppings were generous. This was a thin crust pizza with a zesty sauce spread lightly across the dough. One problem I have when looking for a good pizza is that it's bland. This was not the case at all. It met my needs for a great, tasty pizza. I have eaten here five times now. The first time was great! The second time not so great. The third time a bit better. The fourth time no good and I complained to the female manager who blamed it on new staff. The fifth time was this evening. I ordered a large dibble pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni pizza looked identical to the regular pepperoni pizza I got last time. Not one more pepperoni on it. Not sure how to calm and complain about that without being insulting or insulted. The fifth trip will be out last unfortunately. New to their business and already lost us. Shame as we eat out way more than we should. read more

When I lived in Anchorage I tried to visit this restaurant after reading the positive reviews but I was too late, and they had closed that location. Lucky for me, being an absolute sucker for Greek and Italian food, they moved to Wasilla in the old Piccolinos location! Since we have moved to Wasilla I have struggled to find any "go to" places (as they really are few and far between) but this place has excellent food! I am a creature of habit and really enjoy a classic spaghetti with meat sauce dish and Marcello's absolutely delivers in the taste department. This restaurant is very hit or miss, and most of the time its the latter. The only thing thats pretty safe to order is their salads. Their seafood is almost always rubbery, nothing is seasoned properly, and don't be surprised if you have to send at least one thing back. Their waitresses seem to know whats up and always apologize profusely, but there's definitely something wrong in the kitchen. If they could fix the food, I would happily return. I think their seating is cute, their waitresses seem great, and the pricing is reasonable. I hope in the i can change this review up a little, until then. read more

What a pleasant surprise!! Some of the best Greek/Italian food I've ever had, and we found it in Wasilla Alaska. Soooooo good. And reasonably priced! Who'd a thunk?!?! Super friendly service, timely, nice atmosphere and totally not what we expected from the outside appearance. Both husband and I had excellent entrees. Fresh warm fluffy soft breadsticks rocked. What I can say is that I was in the customer service industry, for 10 years and the service here is not good. It's Valentine's Day. It's busy everywhere. Obviously. Tables sat for 15 minutes without even water. The table next to us just left. Without being spoken to. After sitting there 15 minutes. One girl yelled at everyone coming in, "we are on a wait." "Give us a minute. " our server is Stephanie. She is sweet. So sweet. And helpful and none of my complaint is her fault. But some overall training in general customer service for the blonde haired server who got off early tonight. Marcello's is our go to for a night out or date night. We've NEVER had a bad meal there! We've loved everything we've ever eaten there, whether it was the appetizers, dinners or desserts. My favorite is the Chicken Marsala and the Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. They're the best stuffed mushrooms I've ever had. My husband loves the Cajun Pasta and the Chipotle Potato Skins, and we all love the Fried Zucchini. The desserts are to die for, especially the Chocolate Torte. The service is fabulous, and if Maria is working, ask for her, she's the very best! (No relation, she's just the best server we've ever had at any restaurant!). She ALWAYS gets our orders right, even the special orders, she has a great sense of humor, and takes great care of us without hovering. She remembered us on only our 2nd visit, and we enjoy her so much that we always ask for her. The prices are reasonable ($15-$40 entrées) especially considering the large portions, very generous. I always get at least 3 meals out of my entrée and appetizer. They have a large and varied menu, so much so, that on our first visit it took our group of 4, 20+ minutes to decide. It's a combination of Greek and Italian food, and there really is something for everyone. I can't recommend Marcello's highly enough. The food and Maria are fantastic! This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the entire Anchorage and Mat-su valley. So much better than Olive Garden for about 10% higher cost. Well worth the increased cost for the quality. Marcello's on the outside, another name on the inside. The restaurant seems to have an identity issue. That aside, the venue is actually nice. The food, not so much. The Caesar salad was saturated in dressing, though the greens were fresh. The Chicken Marsala ... the medallions were a little over cooked and literally swimming in the Marsala sauce. I didn't enjoy them at all. The penne paste in Alfredo sauce was lukewarm at best and the breadsticks were nothing to write home about either. The service was ok. I came here a few years ago (formerly Piccolino's) with family that lives here and it still does not disappoint. I've always had good service and friendly waitresses. This time my group started with the amazing cheese bread and then each had the Cheese Ravioli (the one with the spicy chipotle sauce), the El Diablo Calzone, Lasagna, and the Ziti (with sausage and peppers). All were great and the bread it comes with is the absolute best. So warm and delicious flavor! Don't pass up some good Italian food that will keep you full for days! read more

Waitress straight up stole money from me and owner defended her and called the cops on me. I handed the owner my incorrect change and receipt and then she told me she was going to the back room with it and wouldn't let me follow her and then when she came back out she wouldn't give me my money unless I acted nice to her and I told her I will leave once she gives me my money and she's going to lose a lot more than that hundred when other people hear about this. She then proceeded to keep the change and receipt that I had shown her and told me that she was calling the cops on me because I let her know she was going to lose more money. So she stole the rest of the hundred that the waitress didn't get. Now I have to deal with the cops to try to get my money back from them hope you have better luck. read more
