As far as Alaska goes, it's hard to find "fine dining" when you truly wanna show your appreciation towards someone. I finally got to a point in my life where I could take my father out for a nice dinner rather than him taking me out. Carina's did not disappoint! The service was phenomenal, I had the lemon garlic fish and he had a pasta dish and both were fantastic. We also ordered old fashions (alcohol) and how they delivered it with a multitude of shaped and crafted ice as well as a selection of wood chips they smoke on the drink was impressive to say the least. Little expensive, but you leave feeling the money was worth it. As someone that's traveled a lot and seeks the nicest places wherever I'm at, I would say Carina's is the peak of dining in Wasilla. Food, service, and drinks were memorable and I will certainly go back for special occasions. Look for the Clock Tower as signage is not to be found outside but inside you will find a nicely decorated restaurant with many offerings. Service was quite good. Although casual they are trying to show customers what upscale can be. Pot Stickers were a good starter. The Volcano Chicken was a bit too much on the hot sauce. Lots of Risotto to choose from. Absolutely delicious! I had the chicken fried chicken over hash browns with sausage gravy and two perfectly poached eggs--it was comfort food at its finest. Since I'm a huge fan of umami flavors, I also ordered a side just to try it, and I'm so glad I did. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The vanilla chai latte was also fantastic and paired perfectly with breakfast. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Absolutely fantastic experience here, the owner Carina greeted and seated us at our reserved two top. Her husband and chef Josh came up to set down a touch lamp that gave a nice ambiance, and he was so personable and easy to talk to. I had a delicious cocktail, husband had a beer. Had 3 Green Chili sliders, and 4 Langostino lobster deviled eggs as appetizers. Our entrees were: Indian Ocean and Tuscan Seafood Pasta. Then followed up with desert, which was Beignets. I don't normally leave reviews. Hands down the best food we had during our week stay in Anchorage and Denali! We had the Norway Eggs Benedict, Tomato Soup, and the Avocado Bomb. The food was so delicious with so much flavor. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was nicely appointed and had a good ambiance. A hidden gem! Love the ambiance! We went for brunch and order a lovely London Fog latte and the Woodland omelette. The London Fog was perfectly & subtly sweet with aromatic lavender buds floating on the foam. The omelette was stuffed with Portuguese sausage, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese sided with blistered tomatoes and hash browns. And I added avocado on the side. IT WAS HUGE! I couldn't eat it all - had to take the rest home. It's what I get for ordering the pork belly appetizer- sooooo savory and crispy! Def returning!!! First, I'm totally impressed! It's been around 4 years but has new owners. It's welcoming and has an upscale feel. They brought us a sample of their Chicken Bacon Ranch soup of the day and it was so good we ordered and split a bowl. So I got the Eggs Benedict with Crab Cakes you can substitute out the ham and upgrade. It was delicious. They have an amazing assortment of mocktails, specialty cocktails, wines and Alaskan craft beers, I'll be back to try some of them for sure. It's a gem for brunch in Wasilla and the wait staff provides for an attentive service! Waters were refilled quickly and we were visited by all 3 servers checking on us. I love this place! read more

Food is sooooo good. The restaurant is clean and tidy with 14 ish tables. Both times we have been here Chrissy has been our server for brunch. She was attentive and bubbly with excellent suggestions. The chicken fried chicken was really tasty and moist. I was surprised it being so crunchy, yet so moist and flavorful. The 4 cheese grilled cheese sammiches with the tomato bisque soup were super duper good as well. We had the chipotle Caesar salads for appetizers. Crisp lettuce and great flavored lil tomatoes. The bloody mary comes with it's own lil' pickled garden and a little hamburger! The food and service were both exceptional. We will be back to try more! read more

A friend and I tried Carina's for dinner after learning of their deviled eggs, and while the eggs were delicious there were quite a few disappointments. The booth we were seated in--nearest the door--left little room for my friend to breathe. After taking our order, our server returned to confirm our selections...supposedly due to a "system issue". The Greek salad I ordered arrived without the promised Kalamata olives and very little feta cheese, and roughly 45 seconds after our salads were served our entrees arrived. My friend was satisfied with the pasta dish he ordered, but my "Indian Ocean" dish contained some questionable scallops--definitely a fishy odor somewhere between those and the shrimp. I didn't get sick, but their menu lists several seafood options so...caveat emptor. Maybe it was an off night for them-- it was a week night, after all. read more

Carinas is located in the Wasilla Clock Tower building where Meta and Rose was once located. I appreciate the fact they kept a few of the local favorites on the menu (from meta and rose) like the Seared Pork Belly, green chili sliders, and biscuits and gravy. The food is good and has been consistently good since they opened. The service is good, a little slow as they have minimal staffing but do not let this deter you, what little wait there is, its worth it Something else to consider, one chef is putting out all the dishes. Today our table ordered the seared pork bellies, chicken fried chicken, loco moco, eggs Benedict, and a grilled cheese with tomato bisque. That's an impressive eclectic order for a one chef operation AND he brought the food to the table. Props to you Chef The only recommendation I would make for the Chef is watch the salt in the soup...it was a little much. Trivia: In 1985 a movie with a famous clock tower came out. It was unique because lightning striking that tower provided for time travel. What is that movie? Carinas is the real deal. Sort of a best kept secret at this point. I arrived on a whim. I knew the restaurant was there, but it wasn't popping up on Yelp. I knew there was an upstairs bar and I asked to be seated there. It was quiet and tasteful with impeccable service and excellent fare. The mood lighting makes it the perfect place for to bring a date or enjoy a quiet relaxing meal. It wasn't until I was about to leave that I discovered my server was also the owner. He managed and led the restaurant so smoothly. Food arrived quickly and was presented elegantly. Going for the small plates gave me a chance to try a sampling of things. Each dish was full of flavor and carefully cooked. Each dish came with a splendid accoutrement. A sauce or pickled veggie, for instance. The smoked old fashioned had one large ice cube, just the way it should be. (And they have the option of a steel cube as well). Give this place a try! The restaurants we were trying to go to were all closed from the storms so we ended up going here. Heard great things about it but our dinner was mid at best. The drinks were pretty good. For dinner I had the Welly sandwich and my wife had the fish. The welly was pretty dry, over cooked and flavorless. My wife enjoyed her lemon fish dish. Server was very polite. This is the 2nd time I have been here in one month and I do not live in Wasilla. I cannot believe this place only has 15 reviews, the food, ambience and service is first class. I assumed it was a new restaurant since so few reviews and it turns out they have been around for over 4 years. They have a soup dujour and both times they offered samples of the soup, great upsell because it worked. Last time it was a chicken bacon ranch soup, oh so rich. Today it was brisket bisque - a little bit of a curry thing going on. It was good and not too rich. I opted for the salad I was thinking about last time and it was awesome. Greens, mandarin oranges, goat cheese, candied pecans, really good homemade croutons and tiger shrimp, The salad was a nice portion and so tasty. This time we were with friends and as one said, 'Didn't Michelin star restaurants earn stars based on whether it was worth driving too?' Well yes, yes this place is certainly worth the drive to Wasilla for an awesome meal. Not only is the food great, the company was wonderful and as I mentioned, first class service all the way. And the food was not only presented beautifully, but it tasted great too. We ordered the Korean pork belly, avocado bomb (ahi tuna poke inside an avocado and crispy potato on top), French onion soup, and their umami rice. The French onion soup's cheese was melted right at our table via blowtorch, and it was a rich, flavorful soup. How have I never been here before?! Right away, I was struck by how cute the interior is. We were seated at a table with a little candlelit ambiance, and the lighting was perfect--dim, but each table has adjustable lights to set the mood with different brightness. My mom and I stopped in for brunch, and from the moment we walked in, it felt welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and inviting -- a cool blend of historical charm and thoughtful architectural details. The acoustics made it easy to chat without shouting, and the lighting was just right: bright enough for my mom (at a spry 87) to read the menu, but still cozy. Our server, Thalia, was wonderful -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely personable. She got us started right away with espressos and cold water, and she checked in just the right amount throughout the meal. Mom ordered the biscuits and gravy, and I have to say, she's a tough critic when it comes to that dish. Usually, she finds them dry, but this time she said it was the best she's ever had -- and she's pretty well-traveled! I went with the omelette, which was a little overcooked for my taste, but honestly, the great service, atmosphere, and my mom's satisfaction more than made up for it. My husband had a BLT with fries and I got the siren orchard salad best salad I've ever had and I heard the BLT was pretty delicious too. Carinas at the Clock Tower was a wonderful surprise. There isn't much signage so you could miss it. Carina was our server and she was friendly, and courteous. The restaurant was clean and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed my lunch of avocado toast with micro greens. We are from out of town but it was such a pleasure to find a place to eat where I could get a healthy meal that didn't make me feel rotten.
