Super nice waitress and awesome live music in the evening. Had the crab rangoon (stuffed egg roll wrappers) and spicy potstickers. Both were good especially the Rangoons. The curry seafood (medium /level 2-3 spice) was excellent with chunks of crab, big scallops, and shrimp in a slightly sweet yellow curry with a kick of spice. The tom yum noodles were extra spicy so if you like heat this is your jam. Excellent flavor. Order a side of rice to soak up the sauce. read more

I'm almost afraid to do a good review because I don't want to ever go to Susitna Bar and Grill and not be able to get a table! Their food is beyond amazing. Never did I expect a place on the way to Willow to have some of the best Thai food I've tasted in Alaska. My husband and I wandered in on a Sunday after a weekend of valley fun. We were greeted by our incredibly friendly waitress who provided great advice based on our likes, dislikes, and ability to handle spice. We started with the egg rolls, which were crispy and delicious. However they couldn't compare to the spicy dumplings. What the heck is black sauce? Why is it so delicious? Can I buy it in bulk because once I was done with the dumplings I was emptying the leftover sauce from them into my rice that came with my entree and it was DELICIOUS. We have already made a vow to go back and try the oysters--that was our one regret for our first trip but we had to beat feet back to Anchorage and didn't have time to linger and try all the things. read more

While we were certainly skeptical of a Thai and oyster restaurant on the side of the Parks Highway in Willow, we were so happy we tried it. The waitstaff are all helpful, the oysters were fresh, the appetizers and mains were delicious! The blending of Thai seasonings with oysters was a delightfully unexpected combo as well. We have been told to stop in here for years and we finally made it! We have already been back for round 2. This place is a little roadside stop you would never expect to have the most amazing oysters! I have tried them all now! My favorite in order of best Curry Tom yum Black Mango Shooters Fried Rockefeller (these are amazing just a personal preference for the steamed and raw) Get them all!!!!! We made the drive out to finally try the oysters that I had heard so much about and let me say they did not disappoint! They come in a variety of flavors along with the regular raw version. The oysters were large, meaty and so fresh that we ordered more! I have never been a fan of oysters (having only ever had them from the Gulf of Mexico) but became a fan today. I had the basil shrimp which was so fresh and tasty that I stuffed myself and ate every bite. My son had the spicy beef and shrimp and raved about the flavor. Daughter had potstickers which are fresh made ( not store bought) and delicious. Also pared the meal with a couple martinis which were spot on in flavor. We stopped here on our way back to Anchorage. We had the black sauce and raw oysters, and seafood curry. The food tasted amazing. The service was extremely friendly. We loved that we could sit outside and our dog could join us. My only complaint was that in-shell pieces of crab are cracked and cooked in the seafood curry along with all the other seafood and sauce, so there are lots of little bits of crab shell throughout the curry dish. Next time, I'd order maybe just the shrimp curry, because the flavor was absolutely fantastic, just minus the shells. :) read more

I had a very frustrating experience here that really disrupted my trip. The restaurant was busy but not full with no waiting line, so I expected some delay -- but not like this. I ordered raw oysters and the Spicy Seafood Tray. The raw oysters alone took 50 minutes to arrive, and they were extremely salty. I waited over an hour and a half for the Spicy Seafood Tray, and it never came. What made it even more frustrating was that other tables around me were receiving their food on time, while I was left completely ignored. When I finally asked about my order, the only response I got was: "She's still working on it." There was no explanation, no apology, no follow-up -- nothing. I ended up paying for the oysters and walking out -- still no apologies nor explanation. The only thing she said was thanks have a nice day. - ??????? As a traveler with limited time in Alaska, this was incredibly disappointing. A bit of communication or accountability would have gone a long way. I can't recommend this place to anyone who values their time, money, or travel experience. read more

Seems to be a pretty good deal! The restaurant has a sign 2 miles ahead of its location. We were on our way from Anchorage to Denali. Nice spot to take a break (about 2/3 left). Service: the girl who served us told us to "howl if you need anything". Very Alaskan!! :-) Ambience: there were only one other table when we stopped by (about 12pm on a Friday). Big space for small or large group. Casual place. Food: we had fried frog leg and seafood stir. Both are cooked very similar to Chinese cuisine. They claimed as a Thai cuisine, but you know what, they are close enough! Very nice to have some Asian place on the way. read more

Been driving by it for years and finally stopped in about three weeks ago, on a Saturday afternoon. We had the special, a shrimp Tom Yum Pad Thai, and also a Yellow Curry with chicken. Fantastic, everything. I was very surprised, as it is in the middle of nowhere on the side of the Parks Highway, and you just don't think you are going to find food like that there. The owner was sweet, our waitress was friendly and took good care of us. The vibe is local friendly all around. A full bar too, with generous wine pours. I am looking forward to my next trip there. Very cute thai place right next to the parks higway. Food was pretty good. Hot delicious deep-fried shrimp appetizer special was perfect for a rainy day. Red curry with chicken and rice was pretty good too. The curry wasn't the typical thai red curry, was more creamy, but was delicious. We had some room for desserts, but they ran out of the some of the desserts we wanted to try. Service was good and the ladies were friendly. Highly recommend this place! read more

We have eaten here two times and the food is unmatchable!! The atmosphere keeps improving and now is quite nice and comfortable, also the staff couldn't be any friendlier. I've eaten the Yellow Noodle, and the special of the day - Cassie Stir fry, and Pad Thai - all were excellent!! Great food being served in an unassuming restaurant. You are not going here for the decor or ambiance but the food is definitely worth it. We stopped by here on our way back from an ATV tour (SnowHook) at Hatcher's pass and are glad we gave it a try. It was the perfect meal after a long morning out filled with some cold spells and rain. We started the Tom Yum and Rockefeller oysters and both very excellent (Tom Yum the fave). We went with Pad Thai, Mongolian beef, and Cassie stir fry. The stir fry was probably my favorite but all were very good. They also have a black sauce which is their own, house-made spicy sauce. The son of the Thai chef, that owns the restaurant, owns the coffee stand next door which has about every type of delicious coffee and dessert you could ask for. Definitely worth a stop here for some good food - they have a full bar too. read more

Tried it here for the first time the other day. We got the shrimp Thai fried rice and the shrimp Tom Yum fried rice. Both were great, especially the Tom Yum! It's sour and sweet flavor is so good. I love that their fried rice comes with fresh cucumbers and a spicy chili sauce. Sets it apart from other fried rice that I've ordered at other local spots. We will definitely be back! I don't do pork, chicken, or beef anymore so I wish they had tofu if I ever don't feel like shrimp. It's still really good though. read more

This is by far the best Thai restaurant that I have been to. Lemon Grass in Fairbanks can't hold a candle to this one. The Alaska seafood dishes are finger licking good. I am serious. Working on the crab with the sauce requires licking your fingers because it is so good. The place does not have a great curb appeal. They have some old cars up front and the place needs a little work. But if you can get past that you will be pleased that it was really worth it. They also have a great bar. read more
