We went in the evening time for dinner, and there was calming music. The food was delicious, and when we left my tummy felt GOOD. What we ordered seemed like authentic Japanese food (I'm not an expert though). We ordered spring rolls, Sushi with different kinds of sashimi that came with DELICIOUS miso soup and salad. The miso soup and salad were appetizer sized so not super big but prepared the belly for the rest of the food. We also ordered the baked mussels and jasmine tea. Homemade soy sauce was delicious! Prices affordable and reasonable for the meal. Spent less than $30 for two. But we only ordered one main, the rest were sides/drinks. Truly fantastic. I can't wait to go back. For Alaskan ramen it meets but it's not like Texas ramen we're the noodles and broth are homemade. It's filling, not too salty but spice level 2 is not spicy so if you're looking for some heat definitely get a 3. Additional the chicken give boiled which is not the tastiest. The bento box is the way to go as you can pick what you want. The sushi looks great especially the jumbo rolls. Wishing the ramen had some more kick and was a little more authentic. I had to give it another go because I see so many positive reviews. Big mistake. When you walk into Zushi the aroma of oil clings to you, in the air, and on the surfaces all around you. I ordered a dragon roll and a tempura combo. My son ordered a bento combo with gyoza and shumai and two kinds of sushi. The sweet little server brought a salad and miso. I also ordered a Thai iced tea. The ginger dressing on the salad was flavorless not the normal tang. I prefer the miso tasted like dish water and was lukewarm. I could skip that because I was here for sushi and tempura. The tempura combo came and I feel like the shrimp was from Costco. There was also an unidentifiable fishy piece that might've been fake crab. I couldn't even bite through it. We didn't eat much of that. When the bento and sushi roll came we were disappointed. The gyoza and shumai were , dripping with oil. His sushi was not attractive and it didn't taste good. My dragon roll looked pretty enough, but the rolls were cut very thin and the spicy crab mixture was so creamy slid off the top. I had a few bites and we decided to leave. My overall impression is that everything was very, very greasy. Even the water had a strange flavor. I didn't complain to the server because I feel like she was doing her bes. My go-to sushi place in the valley! Love their fresh sushi. You can see the chef making the sushi at his station. They're the only one in Alaska (that I've checked) to have Inari, which is my favorite. I feel it's a safe bet if you're first trying sushi, as it's just sushi rice in tofu skin. They have no problem adjusting the sushi rolls (my husband doesn't like avocado, but the rolls he likes, all have avocado). Other reviews mentioned it was a lot of rice and I can see what they mean. There are 3 categories of sushi: "standard", "house", "mega"...I imagined mega to be big with proportionally more "filling" but the Dancing Dragon Roll I got just had more rice on the edge to make the roll bigger without additional filling. The fish/crab filling I'd argue looks less than average since it seemed like I got more cucumber rolled in. The Dragon Roll (standard roll) had thin slices of eel on top that is less than what I'm accustomed to. There were three different colored fish eggs that seem to taste different...yuzu, spicy and something else?! Wasn't expecting that on an eel roll but pleasant surprise to try and have it be flavored! My favorite is the Ponzu Albacore house roll. Perfect sized with good amount of filling and fish on topped! There seems to be a large option of rolls with cream cheese, which I'm not a fan of in sushi so it made ordering a little hard for me (there are a lot of different combinations for rolls!) If I was in the area, I'd come back to try other rolls but would opt for the house rolls given the size and price read more

I haven't found many good sushi spots in Alaska compared to Hawaii but zushi has become one of my favorites. Especially living in the valley, it's hard to find a good spot. I wasn't really feeling in a sushi mood yesterday, when we were down in Wasilla doing errands yesterday. We passed by, and hub said how about Zushi, and i was a bit hangry by then and said no. I just wanted food rammed down my beak instantly, like a squawking baby bird. I get that way at times, if i go past a regular meal time by too many minutes i would literally go to Golden Corral and just start cramming anything down. Not a good thing at all. He says check their Yelp reviews. You can't argue with 4 and a half stars. I didn't even bother checking the menu - with Asian fusion, there's always something appetizing to tempt you. Upon entering the space, i was pleasantly surprised with the dining area. The bar area was pretty, dining tables by the window - always good for people watching. Not too much kitsch going on. I like that. We were given lovely aluminum or maybe stainless steel water glasses, with citrus water - best of all, no ice. An extensive menu, i chose number D2, and our server informed me that I'd save $2 by ordering the exact same thing off the specials menu. That right there gets an added star from me. She didnt have to do that, and i thought it was very nice of her. Instead of $22 it would be $20, which for a four piece meal (5 if you include rice) and 7 if you also count the miso soup and salad is not at all bad value for money, considering the quality. So the Special i ordered was a 4 item bento, with rice, which also came with miso soup and salad. I love miso soup, and this was very nice, not too salty. The salad had a delicious dressing on that tasted home made, like a citrusy carroty gingery dressing that was really nice and refreshing. The Bento plate, i chose California roll, Tempura Shrimp, Gyoza, and Crunch Roll. Two separate dips, one with the gyoza, and one with the tempura shrimp. It was presented most beautifully, and the bento plate, i love those things. The chopsticks also, not your usual run of the mill disposable wooden cheap ones, with squared tips, these were of smoother wood, and had the tapered, more pointed Japanese-style ends on them. Thats my belief anyway. I may be right, i may be wrong, but they were fancier than average. The California roll was very fresh and delicious, what's not to love in California roll? The Tempura shrimp were honestly some of the best I've ever had anywhere. The tempura was perfectly crunchy with moist juicy, perfectly cooked shrimp. Stunning. Gyoza yum, just the perfect comfort food, and well filled too. Crunch Roll is one of my fave sushi, that sauce on the top is to die for. So despite me not being in the mood for sushi, i certainly made short work of my bento. In left only a spoonful of the rice lol. My hub got the Udon with California Roll. We both love Udon, and this was really good. I tasted it, and i love the complex savory layered flavour of a good Udon Broth, and this was delicious, tasted like it had taken some good long prep time to get this much flavour into it. I do recommend Zushi most emphatically. I know that we'll be going back so i can explore more items on the menu. Arigato for a great lunch experience. read more

Everything you want out of a sushi place! Cutting to the chase, the fish is stellar. Not sure it could taste any fresher with a perfect texture. Now to the details: the bento box deals are a steal. They offer so many options from entrees like tonkatsu pork and teriyaki chicken to gyoza and chicken katsu. The sushi roll options included in the bento boxes are extensive. You even get to throw in everyone's favorite appetizer, crab rangoons, into your box if you want to. You can mix and match whatever you want, including just opting for four straight sushi rolls instead of all the other goodies. I decided to get three rolls and crab rangoons, a complete steal for under $15. The speciality rolls are delicious. My partner and I both got rolls with mango in them for a hint of sweetness and it was stellar. The green dragon roll was highly recommended here on Yelp so I decided to try it and was so glad I did. I would just prefer a smaller roll, this way the flavor of the ingredients isn't lost in white rice. The crab Rangoons are excellent, probably the third best I have had in 30 plus states. The squid is mediocre, maybe mine was just over cooked? The service was strange, we bounced between 2 different servers over dinner. This restaurant is at the end of a strip mall. We were promptly greeted and seated with citrus water. We chose off of the specials for bento boxes. We had an assortment of items: chicken teriyaki, gyoza, beef ramen, spicy tuna roll, philly roll, tofu teriyaki and vegetable roll. All of these came with rice, soup and salad. The soup was a perfect blend of miso, onions and tofu and the salad was crisp, fresh and had the yummy ginger dressing. The seating area is fairly small, with roughly half dozen tables and a handful of bar stools. I was greeted quickly upon coming into the restaurant. They offered two menus with an extensive array of choices. Timing of taking my order was good - the server picked up on my closed menus. I ordered the spider roll. I thought that the price was towards the higher side of what I would expect but didn't have a problem with it. The spider roll came and it was extraordinarily large in diameter and not suitable for even an attempt at eating the rolls whole. The rice content was proportionally very high. I liked the eel sauce but ended up losing a fair bit of it as I peeled off the outer layer of rice on most of my rolls and left it behind. The sushi rice was okay but not exceptional. The roll contents were fairly chunky and rolls tended to fall apart. The bill came promptly and I was given a suitable farewell on my way out. read more

Great experience here! Friendly staff, great customer service, and good food. We had a couple sushi rolls and the chicken teriyaki entree. It was pretty pricey, but not over the top for sushi... it is what you would expect. Apparently the cook hadn't seen the order place for the teriyaki chicken entree so that came out way late, but we weren't upset about it at all and they completely made it right! The server was very apologetic and they even gave us a free dessert. Mochi ice cream (green tea flavor) - So good!! That customer service is awesome and impressed us. Will definitely be back! Best sushi option in the Valley. Came here the other night and dined in for the first time in a while. It was so much better than I remember! It's not like it was ever bad, I remember it being quite good--but our sushi last night was amazing. I realize now that the reason for this is that the last few times we ate here it was takeout, and sushi is just always better in restaurant. Though they do have bento boxes and plenty of other non-sushi food items here too that make great takeout. It was fairly busy and they don't have a ton of seating in there but service was fast, efficient, and friendly. We got the rainbow roll and the hawaiian roll. The rainbow roll is always our baseline that we order at sushi restaurants to judge how good a sushi place is. Their rainbow roll had really good fish on it (and a variety), was large (their rolls have 10 pieces instead of the standard 8), and the rice/crab inside was fresh and the right consistency. The hawaiian roll was great too. I love any roll with mango on it. Their mango was fresh and the sauce on top was light and not too heavy. This roll has spicy tuna in it. I would definitely order it again. It came with salad and miso soup which were good too, I like their ginger dressing. It looks like they don't serve beer/wine anymore here like they used to, but they have a few specialty soda drinks. One more thing to mention is that their rolls are spendy but they are HUGE and fresh and delicious so it's worth it. We get two rolls and are full here. Overall great place and I want to start coming here more often. read more

Update - went back to try them for lunch last week. The previous lunch menu I saw last time wasn't the same. :( so we looked at the regular menu - and they've raised their prices by at least $2+ per roll! What I thought was fairly reasonable now seems expensive. All of the prices on the menu have little pieces of paper glued down with new prices. on them. We still had a nice but expensive lunch. $30 for lunch for 2 is not something I would do again. It wasn't amazing enough to warrant the price. We go there often. Great sushi and pretty much everything else on the menu. Tiny little place but good atmosphere and great service.

Every time I go into Zushi I know I will have the best sushi around. The food is always top notch, great music playing at the right level of volume just all in all a great atmosphere for a date, family outing or just grabbing dinner with friends. I've been to several sushi places here in the state and they are the only one to use black rice which makes the experience that more Incredible! I suggest this place to everyone including you!
