Sashimi was great, very yummy Yellowtail. Service was good too. We will go back on our next visit to Anchorage!

As a Hawai'i Native, its hard to find great sushi outside of Hawai'i (other than Japan of course!), but we were craving sushi, so I turned to Yelp and we ended up at Miso Sushi. When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty small and seemed like it could fill up quickly during peak hours. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated. Once we sat down, I immediately noticed how sticky everything was! The table, the menus, and even the soy sauce (or "shoyu" for all my Hawai'i people) were noticeably sticky! The booth seats were also cracked. Luckily I was wearing long jeans so it didn't bother me too much. Normally, I don't mind a little noise, but the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone around us seemed to be talking at full volume, to the point where we could hear entire conversations from other tables. It definitely took away from the overall dining experience and vibe. As for the service, it was underwhelming. Our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and we had to go without refills for the entire meal. I also noticed some of the staff eating behind the sushi bar while they were still working, which I found a little off-putting and unprofessional. We started with the garlic edamame, which was loaded with garlic, something I personally love. Unfortunately, the edamame itself was mushy and overcooked. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll, combination fried rice, and a bulgogi bento. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and ended up being the best dish we ordered. The bulgogi bento, was VERY sweet, a little too sweet for my preference. The salad dressing wasn't anything particularly special, and the tempura was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially because I'm always on the hunt for good sushi outside of Hawai'i, but unfortunately, the food and overall atmosphere didn't quite meet my expectations. There were some decent dishes, but I don't think this will be a spot we rush back to. read more

Young energetic positive attentive service. Chiriashi. Fresh. Rice a little old Needed more garnish Saki hot hot hot. Great! Hijiki seaweed salad: small portion It was mad to look like a large portion by putting it on a bed of shredded root. Uni. Passes the fresh test. Unique presentation. It was good. I'd get it again. I was bummed. This place doesn't really cater to bar seating. It's meant for table patrons really. I like a bar area clearly created for those single or couple special visits. Not everyone likes a table. I'd go again. More hijiki More complicated garnishes in the chiriashi. Freah rice. To get the 5 stars. The bathroom is scuzzy. See pics. Someone needs to take more pride in this area. It's a shame to have such a clean fresh meal to meet up with an unpleasant bathroom before leaving. Yukko read more

Really well-priced sushi in Anchorage. We came at 5 pm on a Tuesday and didn't have to wait. The staff were very friendly. We tried a bunch of rolls, but the salmon roll was probably our favorite. The miso soup and hot tea was a great way to start! read more

After a long day we want to go out for dinner. I looked up on Yelp and we decided to go have sushi. I didn't take a photos of the sushi rolls or appetizers but the food was pretty good. It's had for me to give 5 stars for sushi in the states since I've lived in Japan but it was pretty good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I'm almost at a four stars because the food was good, but just couldn't get there. First and foremost, we did like the food with the exception of the miso soup, which was nothing special. The meal and sushi were well prepared. The problem was the service and ambiance. No longer do they play cool music, instead it's cringe music coming from the kitchen area. We had to ask for water (and a water refill) several times. The key issue is cleanliness - YIKES - they need to shut down for at least a day and deep clean (especially the floors) and new paint is over due. They need to look at the entire space with fresh eyes and clean up. With these improvements, I could see it being five stars again. read more

My server and gyoza were the only good things about this place. I ordered the Hawaiian roll which is supposed to be spicy tuna, cucumber, tuna and jalapeño. I added all the wasabi on my plate and mixed it with soy sauce. But the after taste was old tuna after my first bite. I tried one more piece and same thing. Awkward but I sent it back while all the workers audibly laughed out loud about what I said. I'll happily take my money elsewhere. If it was good, I would have ate it, and tipped well. DAMI SUSHI is the only consistent sushi place in town. That has never used old tuna. read more

This is small place in a strip mall. The staff was very welcoming and we were sat promptly. Our server quickly brought us iced water, miso soup and a salad while we looked at the menu. The unagi sushi was very good. I love soft shell crabs so we ordered that as an appetiser. The dish was bigger than expected and I really enjoyed the salad it came with. We ordered Sapporo on tap which was cold and good. I don't recall the name of the roll we got, but it was delicious! I enjoyed the different types of eggs and fish on it. Th spicy tuna roll was also really good. The only reason it's a 4 star vs a 5 star is because of the fried rice. We shouldn't have ordered it. My bf loves fried rice, but this is just not their strength. The chicken was cold cold in it and the beef was 50/50 chance of cold vs warm. I don't eat cold food that's meant to be warm, so he had to it. If hi come, just stick to the sushi. read more

We got to the restaurant before the dinner rush but food took a while to come out. Staff was friendly. The food was ok. Not great, not bad. Not sure I would recommend. Definitely not our favorite sushi. The fish did not taste fresh. read more

4.5 Stars Cute spot on strip mall. Yummy sushi and very welcoming, sweet staff. The Chirashi ($28) was sizeable and delicious (9 different items - 6 fish, imitation crab, fish eggs, and Tamago). Had the Unagi Don ($24) to go as well and it was awesome - the eel was tender and grilled perfectly. Miso soup served to start. Mom and sister also got the Miso Roll special and Halibut Tempura ($17), both well made and awesome. The halibut is local! read more

Pleasantly surprised!!! Walked in with 3 others around 630 on a Thursday night and was seated right away. Menu had alot of options from starters, sashimi, sushi, and bento boxes. Pricing was great for the portions. So many sushi places here in Anchorage are overpriced so this was a welcome change. Service was good as busy as it was! Cute interior with ample seating. Would def go back. read more

Had lunch with a friend here recently. Great service and food in a nice environment!

I found myself with a sushi craving in Anchorage, and Yelp said Miso Sushi was delish so I stopped on in for a late lunch. Not surprisingly, Yelp was right! The sushi was delish, fresh, and fairly reasonably priced. Since I arrived at an odd time of day, the restaurant was not busy at all, so I was served very quickly. I enjoyed my hamachi nigiri (always my favorite), a tasty roll, and of course a delicious, warm cup of freshly made miso soup. I would definitely come here again if in the area! read more

4.5 overall! Services was really great and food was scrumptious! The tempura shrimp in the tempura shrimp roll was a bit on the overcooked side and fell apart easily. Flavor was good though. They gave rice in miso soup for the kiddos which was a nice touch and the kids all devoured it. Bulgogi bento box was delicious, bulgogi wasn't overly sweet or salty and the bento box came with many yummy components. read more

Food is always great. Service is normally good although when busy can be a little slow

Honestly I don't ever leave reviews but this was one of the worst sushi take out orders i've ever gotten. I spent $120+ dollars and what I received was basically inedible. Also, why would you give me two tiny servings of ginger?? I would have given 1 star but at least the bento box was okay. Ordered a Fantastic roll, Golden Lady roll, Rock n roll, FBI roll, 12 piece sashimi, sesame chicken bento box, and a miso soup. The fantastic roll and Golden lady were fishy. Fantastic roll lacked any flavor other than jalapeño and gross fish. Salmon in the sashimi was absolutely awful. Slimy and gross. I will not be ordering from here again. read more

Love this Sushi Spot! I am always impressed even when it's takeout! I love the rolls and don't skip on the cucumber salad!!!

Came in excited to try this place, but unfortunately the service fell short. When placing my order, the server very clearly asked whether I wanted the roll or the appetizer -- I confirmed my choice -- yet the order still came out wrong. It was frustrating because they paused and asked specifically, and still didn't get it right. On top of that, the server didn't seem familiar with the menu. I ordered the Sushi & Sashimi Combo, and they seemed confused about what it included and how it came out. When the order arrived, it was not what I asked for, and I had to flag someone down to fix it. For a restaurant at this level, attention to detail matters. If you're writing things down and double-confirming, there's no reason the order should be incorrect -- especially for something as simple as choosing between a roll or an appetizer. It made the experience feel careless and unprofessional. Food itself was decent, but the service really took away from what could have been a great meal. Hoping management trains staff better on the menu and accuracy going forward. read more

This place! Don't let the outside fool you. I thought I was going for a massage and I was ready to drive away but I remembered the reviews so I said "let's go in!" Best decision! I was greeted by Jobe and she was very pleasant. I sat at the bar while I saw how the chef ‍ made the sushis. I ordered the volcano sushi and I asked for their suggestion and they said the midnight dream . Both rolls were amazing and they both had a kick. I loved them and I don't even like that very spicy foods. The restaurant has nice music in the background and very mellow. The lights are dimmed so if you want to go on a date and you don't know where to go? Now you know. If you are in town and looking for some good sushi, stop by this place. read more

Hole in the wall. Incredible fresh ingredients. I can only freak fit the sashimi-toro, hamachi, sake, red snapper, and tuna. Incredibly fresh and delicious. Good size portions. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced for the quality and size per piece. I definitely recommend. read more

If you enjoy your dining experience to include: - Waiting forever to place an order - Only getting waters for half the table - Having to grab your own plates - Having to grab your own soy dishes - Having to walk up to the hostess to ask for napkins and utensils - Getting your drink order after the appetizers (ours were draft beers) - Receiving different items then you ordered - Unfriendly staff Well, then you would truly enjoy dining at Miso Sushi! Good luck! read more

Service was quick and waitress was friendly. The sushi was alright. The Temaki were small and The spicy tuna was bland and didn't have a lot of pow, flavor. The Ikura didn't taste amazing, didn't taste real fresh. I enjoyed the salmon sashimi bowl (sorry forgot name). The rolls were alright. 3-stars due to good staff and quick service. Called to see if Miso takes reservations and the young lady said no, however asked how many in our party and I told her and she said she remembered us and would look out for me. We walked in and I noticed a table was reserved for our family which I was very grateful for since we we're having a Birthday dinner. The atmosphere in this restaurant is so warm and inviting from the staff! We sat down and we're given menus right away. I ordered saki and the guys wanted a beer I don't know where you can go in Anchorage and get a kingstreet IPA on tap for $5 that price is crazy wonderful!! We ordered several tasty dishes that the family just loved, and Miso Sushi gives the best Miso soup that my grandkids love. We will definitely be coming back for sushi and another sashimi/sushi boat! read more

I'll be first to admit I probably did not do this place right. I ordered on doordash, and I got a bento box, not sushi. I thought the food was good, but it didn't blow me away. Despite the bento including a few pieces of sushi, I was bummed that there was no wasabi nor ginger. Tempura was great (isn't it always?) and the Mongolian beef was salty and great. I'd probably order again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I think that's mainly because I'm just not usually in the mood for Japanese cuisine though, not because Miso doesn't do a decent job. read more

Out of all of the sushi restaurants in town, Miso Sushi has, by far, the best Chirashi bowl in town. My favorite thing about it is the generous amount tobiko and the pieces od tamago that you get with your sashimi. It's fresh, delicious, flavorful, and melt in your mouth! Miso Sushi has been around for a few years and occupies the spot where Sushi Ya used to be. Their menu has good options if you're looking to try sushi for the first time, or you're getting something traditional. The wait staff is very professional and they'll make sure you have everything you need. They check on their customers a fair amount. I'd like to see more Chirashi bowl options at this spot, as well as the other sushi restaurants in town. I think Anchorage could always do with more poke bowl spots. read more
