The ordering and pick up counter.

This is a Mom and Pop joint that seems to do most of its business for take out orders. The seating is spare but clean. The most important part is that the food is good! I have eaten here several times during 2024 and the Japanese tempura udon is pretty good, as is the pork Tonkatsu. When you pay extra for Japanese style curry sauce, you get a disappointing tiny serving in a little plastic condiment cup.

Adding new menu pics. Take out order. Haven't tried it yet. Will report in later

Very close to the hotel so it was a nice drive. It is definitely a mom and pop shop with the poppa san cooking and mama san taking the orders. When I went in, poppa san took my order and then went to cook. I ordered the steak teriyaki with sauce on the side. Got my food and back to the hotel. When I opened the box I was surprised at how much meat was in it. The meat was very tender and the sauce made it tasty. I would go back but I probably won't be in Alaska for awhile :)

Simple, clean family run terryaki place. They have katsu and lots of other items on their menu. If you get a combo you can choose from the six different sides. I got chix terryaki with h brown rice and dumplings. Made fresh and came out hot and juicy. If I lived on town I would go back.

Is it good? Sure. But there are more than a handful of places with a similar menu around town and honestly there wasn't anything about the food that made this place stick out for me. The portion sizes are definitely a plus, and the flavor is good. Delivery is always a win too, so we can get it delivered to work. The price is also great, especially for their lunch specials. When I've had the sesame chicken I appreciated that the breading wasn't excessive so you actually taste the meat rather than breading, and the ratio of the sauce was favorable as well. It stuck, it didn't just sink to the bottom of the dish to be mopped up! I wasn't mad at the slices of the pork for the pork bowl either. It wasn't fat chunks that take forever to chew and swallow. So the place is mad decent and I would recommend it to people if they're in the area or wanting this type of food.

Large portions and great service. Called in a pick up order on a Friday night about 7pm food was ready within the 20min quoted. Got the teriyaki combo with chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu a large scoop of rice and a side of your choice which I got the gyoza. Katsu was crispy and not greasy and teriyaki was great flavor and moist.

Stopped in for a quick lunch at work. As the name implies, they have a number of teriyaki options available. I went for the chicken yaki soba. The owner was friendly. The prices and portions seem reasonable and the food was good - not amazing but not bad for a hearty lunch. No issues with parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. They also do takeout if you're in a hurry or don't want to dine in.

Ordered spicy chicken teriyaki plate and 2 sesame chicken plates

My friends and I were visiting Alaska for a fishing trip and came to eat here as we headed back to the airport to return home. Food was delicious (hot and juicy chicken) and they provide generous portions ensuring that even the heartiest of appetites are left satisfied. Friendly service and nice clean space - bathrooms clean too! Overall, my experience was nothing short of fantastic - the spicy chicken teriyaki is a must try - only if you can handle the spice (it has a kick for sure!). And the warm family-owned establishment makes this place all the more special. Will definitely be coming back whenever I visit Alaska again (close to airport so makes it easy!)

Excellent quality and delicious teriyaki. I will definitely visit this place again despite it is slightly more expensive than I would have expected. One of small containers has curry sauce that's a $1 for 3 teaspoons of curry.

Good food, good taste, no crowd. Clean tables, chopsticks kinda suck. If you want spicy, you get it here lots of food on the tray.

On a cold day, this…read moreis exactly the kind of meal that makes sense--warming, steady, and satisfying without trying too hard. The space has a modern Japanese minimalist aesthetic--clean lines, warm lighting, and a refined calm that feels both welcoming and quietly upscale. It's thoughtfully designed without being cold, striking a balance between contemporary elegance and comfort. Shabu-shabu here is on the pricier side, but the portioning justifies it. The small shabu-shabu easily feeds three to four people, especially when shared properly, and nothing about it felt skimpy or rushed. Three visits in, it continues to deliver!

We used to come here when this place was Peter's Sushi Spot, the inside has not changed hugely…read moresince then, except maybe for the hot plates on the tables, should you wish to have shabu shabu. The hot plates are spotlessly clean, I did notice, and there were instructions on the wall on how to cook shabu shabu. We used to come for the Tempura Udon which was spectacular. We were seated very quickly, and water was brought out. I decided to go with my benchmark dish, which always gives me some idea of whether I will return or not, and ordered chicken fried rice, husband got the tempura udon, so he could compare with the previous Udon we used to get here. I noticed that their soft drinks are only $2 which is an excellent price in my opinion. I got a Canada Dry as I love ginger ale. His Udon came out quite quickly, and we could instantly tell that the broth did not have the same depth of flavour, as when we used to come here, (it was quite smoky and very umami) and this one has a distinctly seaweed tang. Thats not to say that it's bad, it's just different. The noodles are also not quite so dense, chewy or toothsome. Additionally the tempura was somewhat of a letdown. The shrimps were very slimline compared to the display on the tv. There was an onion ring, that was also quite thin. Just not a good representation of tempura. Also, comparing with the Udon that used to be here, you also got a cup of miso soup, and a small salad with a carrot orange dressing. Those are gone. As for my chicken fried rice, well the presentation was excellent, it came on a beautiful plate, and looked very appetizing. The first couple of bites were really nice, plenty of carrots, broccoli, chicken, however I soon started encountering tender crisp onions. Which I cannot eat. They give me violent stomach pains. I can only eat onions that have been cooked down to almost mush. Anything raw or that has any element of crunch to it is a no-go, as it will make me ill. I found it somewhat unusual, as I get fried rice all over town and have never encountered chunky onions before. I'm sure I could have asked them to leave them out had I known they were going to be in there. It tasted good, for sure, but having to continually move the onions aside (and there was a lot of onions) was offputting. Normally when i get fried rice, I eat some, and take the rest in a to go box. I did not take the rest home this time which is very telling. Anyway, service was excellent, and they were very attentive - for instance our server saw that my husband was giving me a spoonful of his udon, and without being asked he came over with an extra spoon, small bowl, and a ladle, which I thought was very thoughtful. I cannot fault the staff.

Thankfully we didn't have to wait long for service like some earlier reviews indicated. Mine may have showed up 20mins after my neighbor's. The quality of the food items were just ok. I had comparable sushi at another sushi restaurant a few blocks away. -Idiot Fish: The most exciting thing was the name. It was a pretty firm fish, no fat, and quite a few bones. -Sashimi Platter: 6 types, with 2 each. We got mackerel, yellowtail, tuna, salmon, white fish (snapper?), and octopus. -King Crab Roll: What I thought was the imitation crab was actually real crab. The coloring was so ...fake looking. It's not a bad roll, but I'm not sure the flavor of the crab came through. -Beef Steak Japanese Style: Big dish but awful cut of meat and had a semi off taste. Either freezer burn or the fridge. It was full of sinew and super chewy. -Herring Roe on Seaweed: This had a strange bitter aftertaste. I couldn't eat the beef after having this, it made the beef bitter too. It was a super fun texture though. Very snappy, very poppy. Only come here if you absolutely have the time for it. My dinner took about 3 hours, and there were 5 other tables.

The presentation alone deserved its own spotlight, with vibrant colors, thoughtful plating, and that "don't touch it yet, just admire it" kind of appeal. The salmon panang curry was hands down my favorite. The salmon was perfectly cooked tender, flaky, and rich sitting in a velvety panang curry sauce that balanced creamy coconut with just the right amount of heat. The flavors were bold but beautifully harmonious, with a depth that made every bite better than the last. It's the kind of dish you immediately start planning to order again before you've even finished it. The tonkotsu miso soup was equally impressive. The broth was luxuriously rich and full-bodied, with that slow-simmered depth you hope for in a great tonkotsu. The miso added a savory complexity that made the whole bowl incredibly comforting. Every spoonful felt warming and satisfying perfect for an Anchorage evening. Beyond the food itself, the overall experience was wonderful. When a restaurant manages to combine stunning presentation with flavors that truly deliver, it stands out and RickShaw absolutely delivers. I'll definitely be back... and next time, I won't forget the photos.
