I am doing the happy dance with every bite!! The Kika Naruto Roll has my tastebuds going wild with flavors. And the fish is so smooth! I'd never had cucumber rolls instead of traditional, but I love how fresh it is with the fish. And the beautiful design of the plate! The Mary Jane roll was a complete change up but also amazing flavors. The avocado and scallion on top with the spicy mayo combination definitely compliments the flavor of the roll. And I'm a big fan of some wasabi and ginger for the added kick! I also want to compliment the set up! A warm towel to wipe my hands, a miso (yum), and a carafe of water right off the bat. The place is cute, with little tucked away booths and also some bar space and larger party tables! They had a packed place and there were continuous parties coming in asking for tables. It's a beautiful inside and well decorated! And they were quick to get my order and also quick to bring my meal out!! We have been coming here on & off over the years. Everything is very consistent from food to service. Which reflects in how busy they get in the evening. Our most recent visit was a Thursday night & they were extremely busy. The restaurant itself is a nice size & can seat many customers. I've lived in Anchorage for nearly a decade and I think this is Anchorage's best sushi house. It is intimate, the service is fantastic (hello fresh hot towels to clean your hands!), the sushi is always high quality and food is well prepared. The staff even take great care of me when I'm just there to order and wait for take away, providing complimentary cinnamon tea. As the years have gone on, we've also brought our babies and toddlers in here and the wait staff dote on them. In our opinion it is worth the extra cost to dine here. We love it. read more

Very friendly Korean lady greeted me. After taking my take out order, she seated me at the bar with a cup of hot tea. The atmosphere was nice (quiet, not super bright, and clean). Ordered the envy and crunch rolls. The envy was awesome. The crunch roll was on par with other crunch rolls. Both rolls had more filling (less rice) than usual which was great. When my order was done (which including a complementary cup of miso soup) the elderly lady wished me a nice Sunday. She seemed like a super sweet lady and she made my day. There were 5 of us that were repeat customers, We had to remind the waitress about them as they showed up after the food. The food was good but no salad, no ginger or wasabi. Another reminder to the pissed off waitress who seemed mad at us. The bill came and was split between 2 people and the 20% auto tip was on both bills. She was trying to get an $88 tip on on $224 bill. Why an auto 20% tip on a party of 5??? Bad slow service and almost ripped off. Will not go back!!!! read more

Sushi here is great. It is fairly expensive compared to other local places but convenient if you live near Huffman / South Anchorage. I am giving 4 stars because I have gotten some Of their combo boxes and was not a fan of their Chicken Teriyaki and a few other combos. The soup is good, but their salads are usually really watered down so lacking a lot of flavor. Service is great. They are attentive and fast. Food comes out quickly. I like sitting at the sushi bar and just letting the Chef whip up whatever he's in the mood of making for me. Never had a bad piece of sushi. Would recommend! read more

It pains me to update a review to give a lower rating than the initial review, but sometimes places go downhill. I came here again for the first time in years and was overall disappointed. The pros: The interior is clean and comfortable. You get miso soup, salad, and warm hand towels, which not many sushi restaurants do these days. The waitresses are a little *too* attentive in my opinion. When I was there, several of them wehovering around at any given moment. Also we got the check before my boyfriend got his food, but they took it away when I said his food hadn't arrived yet. Minor mistake but a little awkward. Sweet Shorty roll: Disappointingly small slices of fish on top, hardly any mango sauce. Imitation crab unfortunately. Felt like grocery store sushi. Ikura sushi: Advertised as $7.85 on the menu but ended up being $11.95 on the check so they need to update their menu prices. I know Alaska restaurant prices tend to be more expensive than other states but this is ridiculous. I can get the same thing in the lower 48 for half price for better quality and portion size. It was decent enough. Chicken katsu don: Waitress felt need to explain difference between this and regular chicken katsu (this comes in a bowl with chicken katsu on top of rice and vegetables with an egg whereas katsu comes with just rice) even though it's clearly written in the menu, but maybe that's because of other customers not knowing the difference. This was far better than the sushi. Tempura green tea ice cream: Not bad, a little heaving on the breading in my opinion. I wouldn't come here again except maybe for the chicken katsu don, but if another restaurant in town has it I'd rather go there. read more

Nice atmosphere and love that they give you warm hand towels in the beginning. Service can be slow at times, especially if they're super busy but they are all very nice. Love the miso soup and salad. The salad isn't the usual carrot dressing they use at other sushi restaurants, it was a vinegar based dressing so seems healthier! Chirashi: some of the fish was fresh, especially the salmon. It was melt in your mouth salmon! The texture of the tuna and yellowtail were a little bit more rough and didn't taste quite as fresh. The sushi rice under the fish had too much sesame oil. Sukiyaki: the soup was good and sweet but the beef was rough and well overcooked. It is a large portion, definitely shareable between 2-3 people. Overall, a decent sushi place if you need a quick sushi fix! read more

We arrived & were pleasantly greeted right away & taken to a large table big enough for 4 adults & 2 small children. The kids had gymnastics next door so we placed their order in & the food came out in time for them to have some before practice & we had time to visit. We ordered 5 rolls & edamame & vegetable tempura & everything was Excellent!! Food we perfect & service was spot on! I will definitely bring my family back here! I was buying dinner for the family but my son grabbed the bill & said I got the bill & our server ( I'm guessing she's a mom too) she was so smooth & gave my son back his card & I gave her mine. Really good food, service, and ambiance here! For two people, we ordered the chicken teriyaki bento and the Chanel No 5 roll. Both were good. The chicken was juicy (for a chicken breast) and came with lots of sides. The sauce was too liquidy though, tasted like just soy sauce. The Chanel No 5 roll was tasty and had the right amount of sauce. It had shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, unagi, mango sauce. Service was very good and attentive, and really fast too. I think she is Chinese I am guessing but this isn't Dim Sum restaurant where you rush people because the whole place was empty. Service was awkward and rushed, done with no care or finesse. The energy was weird in the restaurant, and the staff didn't help. The sushi upset our stomachs, overall just not impressed. I've been here a few times for a nice family dinner and have gotten the shrimp and vegetable tempura dinner. This last time we sat at the sushi bar and ordered three rolls. I am a new fan a sushi, so I'm still hesitant about eating raw fish. We got the MC roll which was tempura shrimp, cream cheese, avacado with crab meat on top, a little kick to it, and the whole thing was fried. We also got the Alaska roll which had raw salmon, cream cheese, crab and cucumber. Fish egg on top. Last we got my favorite which is the crunch roll which had shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber, avacado. Each were 12-15$ each. They give you miso soup and salad(lettuce and shredded carrots with vinegrette on top) before you even order which was great with our rolls. We will explore other sushi places around town. This one probly has south side pricing. I always grab a dum dum at the end. read more

Stopped here for lunch and was very glad that I did. The food and service was very good. I initially wanted to order sushi but ended up ordering the sesame chicken instead. It came out fresh off the wok. I enjoyed the salad and soup that was served before my meal came out. Not sure if they renovated recently but the inside was very modern and clean. We decided to stop in here on a Saturday evening, my last experience here was semi-pleasant but it's been awhile. We thought we would give it a shot, well...let me just say, we have our favorite sushi spot but it's on the other side of town so we were hoping to have the same experience here and we were wrong. First, we ordered the bento chicken teriyaki which came with tempera. My husband could barely chew the dry whole chicken breast they served with barely any teriyaki sauce. They did cut it up, but very thick pieces. The tempura shrimp was cut to make the portion seem bigger but looked like a cheap way to make it look like your getting more. The tempura vegetables were semi burnt on one side. We ordered a large sushi roll which was extremely overpriced and cheaply made, filler fake ingredients. The spicy tuna was a weird mixture then they slipped some white cream on top. When we received the almost $80 bill we were flabbergasted! We will stick to our go-to sushi place in Anchorage. Will not waste my money here again. Very very disappointing. read more
