    Pork gyoza

I haven't had a bad experience at ReHaru to date. The restaurant is clean. The service is always friendly and the food is always good. When you enter the front doors the gentlemen behind the sushi counter says, "hello." We were seated quickly and bowls of hot miso soup are brought out. Our order consisted of deep fried gyoza, spicy tuna roll, and beef yakisoba. Each dish was as it should be, flavorful and fresh. Next time I am getting the chicken yakisoba. It's always a fave.

Fried tofu, best thing we had.

I'm spoiled. I grew up in anchorage when Japanese sushi holes in the wall were filled with smoke ( yuk) and the Japanese owners and patrons were all conversing in Japanese. And the sushi was complicated and simple at the same time. It was quite the let down to see the Denny's style ambiance...they've been open a year, and the decor, feel, din seems pretty American cafeteria style seating. It certainly is at a romantic spot. I asked if they had uni, s Sea urchin, they confessed they did not stock it, as it is expensive and gets old fast. That in itself told me that serious sushi customers were not patronizing reHARU. 5 stars for presentation. All of our dishes were plate art. I had Chiriashi. It is my go to to test a sushi restaurant. It was very fresh and the rice was flavored slightly , most excellent. Yet an establishment I shall revisit will, have earned my patronage by dolling up the chiriashi with tiny garnishes that can be mixed occasionally with each bite....example: Crab claw, radish sprout, shaved bamboo, shaved onion sprout, some roe, mini shroom sprouts, burdock root shaved peas, cucumber, avocado, sesame seeds, shaved seaweed.... The lack of those indicated a boring Americanized version of chiriashi. I want complicated flavor profiles mixing in my mouth please. Hot saki, the biggest let down. It wasn't hit, it was Luke warm and the server brought over our cups pre poured so we couldn't traditionally pour each other their first cup. I didn't even finish the first carafe. One of my guests had a roll with spicy tuna. I'm not a fan of anything spicy, I dint think for a second the Japanese grew jalapeños in the 19 th century or even the 20 th, Slice of any kind totally ruins sushi, Americans seem to like it....is it because they actually dint want to taste the fish? I don't get it. It could have been spiced spam? The indication I saw fairly immediately that this wasn't got to be a revisited place was the spicy icons next to quite a few items. Also, the nigiri section of the menu was about 4 square inches....1/60 th of the menu. They were pushing rolls.... Wife had grilled tofu, it was good. We had to ask for plates , dipping bowls, as they were not presented with our meal. We all three voted to not come back. If you like budget friendly fresh sushi, you will be happy. If you want a more traditional ambiance, complicated flavor profile experience......meh! Don't out too much weight in my review if you like spicy Americanized to go rolls and cheap sushi, Give it a shot at least once.

Haru Orgasm - BBQ Eel, Avocado, Salmon Tempura, Roe and Spicy Tuna

Overall 3.75 Stars 1st time to this restaurant. Place is an open space with booths and tables and a semi private room. Decor was nice with Japanese inspired decorations, simple and classic. 4.25 Stars - Our server was pleasant, friendly and helpful. We had a few questions and he was able to answer them. Also, he gave a couple of recommendations too. He served us a Miso soup that automatically comes with the meal. This is usually an added cost but at this restaurant, it is part automatically part of whatever you order. 3.75 Stars - we ordered an appetizer and three different entrees. Appetizer: 3 Stars - Gyzoa - pan fried with a lightly sweetened soy based sauce. They were just ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. It tastes the same if I went to grocery store and bought a frozen bag and cooked them myself. Entrees: all Sushi's rated at 3.75 to 4 Stars. - three different Sushi platters. Each of the sushi were about 8 slices and were about 2" in circumference. Decent size rolls. Unagi Sushi section: 1. Dragon - BBQ Eel with Avocado and cucumber - rolled in Rice. 3.75 Stars 2. Haru Orgasm - BBQ Eel with Avocado, cucumber, spicy minced Tuna, and Panko fried Salmon. The cucumber and spicy tuna was inside the rice while the BBQ Eel, Panko Salmon and Roe were on top of the roll. 3.75 Stars 3. The Vegas - Sashimi ( raw) Salmon w Avocado and cucumber. The flavor of the Salmon was more pronounced than the Haru Orgasm due to the freshness of the salmon. Wasn't as fatty as we wanted but overall it was better than the other two rolls. 4 Stars The restaurant serves other Ethnic foods from Chinese Mongolian beef , Vietnamese Pho, and Japanese Udon noodles. Sushi is their speciality but it is good to have other types of to choose from. 3.5 Stars Prices were reasonable for: Appetizer 6 Gyzoa $10 Sushi's - 8 slices: $16-$18 So would I come back again? The answer is "Yes". Though I would try the Sashimi style due to my personal flavor profile and probably try their Udon noodles and tempura ingredients. However I won't order the Gyoza again.

We were disappointed by Asian food twice in Anchorage (to-go order missing one item, and another service being super slow), but we gave this place one last try. ReHARU definitely made it worth it. All items portions are very generous. It seems the owners are Korean, so the food was not the most authentic, but it was still super good! So many vegetable options. The restaurant is large and there were many parties dining. Despite that, the waitress was very attentive and the food came out quickly. Our favorite dish was the seafood udon.

I tried this place with my husband based off of where we were in Anc at the time & the other reviews. I am glad we did, very kind staff & the food was very yummy with great portions! Very quickly served, though not super busy when we were there. I enjoyed it very much & will go back!

This place exceeded my expectations. This is one of my favorite sushi spots while visiting Alaska. The taste of the fish and portions are huge. Even compared to where I live in Hawaii, this is one of the best sushi places outside the islands. The staff is very friendly and courteous, checking on us very often. My favorite sushi here is the SMT (Scallop, Mayo, Tobikko) and it does not disappoint. Their smoked salmon nigiri and salmon nigiri are delicious and rolls aren't overly sauced. I will always recommend this place to my friends and family as long as they continue investing in their quality and portions. Thank you reHaru!

So we wanted sushi while in Anchorage and after Yelping the options, went with reHARA Sushi. Let me say we were not disappointed. Started with gyoza, pan fried, very good Then the rolls. We settled on two different ones. The presentation was outstanding. Just look at the pics. The Fish n Chips - outstanding. Crazy Boy - 2nd to Fish n Chips but very good. The portions were huge. If we weren't heading to catch a plane, there would have been a to-go box for sure. Very pleased.

Still love the quality of food here. Unfortunately, the restaurant has definitely seen some hardships, particularly with their staffing. I've seen this place cleaner, but I partly blame some customers. I just don't understand how some people can be so messy when eating. Anyways, the staff is still friendly even when they're constantly hustlin. The rolls are always delicious and super filling. Still a big supporter of this place!

I really liked the way they had the inside decor, it was really set up nicely. I was looking at the beverage menu saw, Sapporo, okay great beer for a Sushi experience. I guess after looking over the Sushi offerings, it was hard to find a clean roll. Clean roll, to me means, no imitation crab in their roll. The one clean roll was the Spider Roll which we got 2 of. Of the 5 rolls we got the Spider was the favorite to me, I got the Hot Lava Roll not my favorite, but my wife ordered the Crazy Devil Roll it was good, and another clean roll was what my daughter got the 911 Roll. We all shared amongst the 3 of us. Something else missing was, miso soup or a ginger salad staples at Japanese Sushi places. Daughter's husband got Teriyaki Chicken, not a sushi guy Lol! I did get him to eat 1/2 a Spider Roll piece. Overall a 3.5 for Sushi, but ambiance 4.5. What I'd like more is clean sushi offerings, Naruto style, and a must have Unagi (Eel), Sweet Shrimp w/deep fried heads, Toro (Yellow Fin Tuna), and maybe some Alaskan Crab! Imitation crab is for newbie/beginners. Also too many offerings of cooked Tempura Shrimp added to many raw rolls. Elevate your Sushi Game!

The space has a modern Japanese minimalist aesthetic--clean lines, warm lighting, and a refined calm that feels both welcoming and quietly upscale. It's thoughtfully designed without being cold, striking a balance between contemporary elegance and comfort. Shabu-shabu here is on the pricier side, but the portioning justifies it. The small shabu-shabu easily feeds three to four people, especially when shared properly, and nothing about it felt skimpy or rushed. Three visits in, it continues to deliver!

We used to come here when this place was Peter's Sushi Spot, the inside has not changed hugely…read moresince then, except maybe for the hot plates on the tables, should you wish to have shabu shabu. The hot plates are spotlessly clean, I did notice, and there were instructions on the wall on how to cook shabu shabu. We used to come for the Tempura Udon which was spectacular. We were seated very quickly, and water was brought out. I decided to go with my benchmark dish, which always gives me some idea of whether I will return or not, and ordered chicken fried rice, husband got the tempura udon, so he could compare with the previous Udon we used to get here. I noticed that their soft drinks are only $2 which is an excellent price in my opinion. I got a Canada Dry as I love ginger ale. His Udon came out quite quickly, and we could instantly tell that the broth did not have the same depth of flavour, as when we used to come here, (it was quite smoky and very umami) and this one has a distinctly seaweed tang. Thats not to say that it's bad, it's just different. The noodles are also not quite so dense, chewy or toothsome. Additionally the tempura was somewhat of a letdown. The shrimps were very slimline compared to the display on the tv. There was an onion ring, that was also quite thin. Just not a good representation of tempura. Also, comparing with the Udon that used to be here, you also got a cup of miso soup, and a small salad with a carrot orange dressing. Those are gone. As for my chicken fried rice, well the presentation was excellent, it came on a beautiful plate, and looked very appetizing. The first couple of bites were really nice, plenty of carrots, broccoli, chicken, however I soon started encountering tender crisp onions. Which I cannot eat. They give me violent stomach pains. I can only eat onions that have been cooked down to almost mush. Anything raw or that has any element of crunch to it is a no-go, as it will make me ill. I found it somewhat unusual, as I get fried rice all over town and have never encountered chunky onions before. I'm sure I could have asked them to leave them out had I known they were going to be in there. It tasted good, for sure, but having to continually move the onions aside (and there was a lot of onions) was offputting. Normally when i get fried rice, I eat some, and take the rest in a to go box. I did not take the rest home this time which is very telling. Anyway, service was excellent, and they were very attentive - for instance our server saw that my husband was giving me a spoonful of his udon, and without being asked he came over with an extra spoon, small bowl, and a ladle, which I thought was very thoughtful. I cannot fault the staff.

The chicken had minimal flavor, the orange sauce they used appeared poured on at the end and watered down.
