First timer here today and they blew us out of the water. It is a quaint spot in midtown with great decor offering a wide selection from sushi to hot pot to ramen etc. We came specifically to try out the sushi, got an off the menu recommendation from the server plus three special rolls and Otoro nigiri. We were served with miso to start and the miso was a great way to settle in the warmth on a 0 degree day while we waited for our rolls. It took a short wait to get everything but it was clear everything was crafted with care and high quality ingredients. Every roll blew us away, each as delicious as the next. Cannot wait to come back as this is now our new favorite sushi spot in town!

We had the small shabu pot for about $70. It was a perfect size to share amongst the 4 of us as we did order sushi alongside. The Shabu did come with a tray of veggies and about 30 slices of meat. The meat was super tasty and tender. We enjoyed the sushi roll, nigiri, torched salmon belly and taro! Smooth like butter definitely recommend. Our server did a great job on keeping our water glasses full and checking in on us. Definitely will be back.

I was in anchorage for an errand and wanted to try a new place for sushi, and this did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very inviting, beautifully designed, and the table tops had built in hot plates if your dish requires it. I enjoyed the Golden Knight Sushi rolls, and ordered Gyoza to go. They offer wines and sake, but I had to drive so wasn't able to sample any. The server was very prompt , and attentive. I was greeted and sat quickly, and he brought the menu and water shortly after. Both he and another kind lady behind the preparation counter bid me goodbye when I got up to leave. I loved the instructions for certain dishes posted on the wall of my booth, and on back of the chop sticks in case one is unaware of what and how things work. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area to try.

    How to enjoy shabu-shabu

This was our third time ordering the shabu-shabu, and it continues to deliver. On a cold day, this is exactly the kind of meal that makes sense--warming, steady, and satisfying without trying too hard. The space has a modern Japanese minimalist aesthetic--clean lines, warm lighting, and a refined calm that feels both welcoming and quietly upscale. It's thoughtfully designed without being cold, striking a balance between contemporary elegance and comfort. Shabu-shabu here is on the pricier side, but the portioning justifies it. The small shabu-shabu easily feeds three to four people, especially when shared properly, and nothing about it felt skimpy or rushed. Three visits in, it continues to deliver!

Honestly the service was not great. Half of our table got hot food (beef, fried rice, bento box) & that came out pretty quick. Those people were almost done with thier meals by the time our sushi came out & took us forever to order in general. They did bring miso soup out to everyone which was nice. The devil roll was not my favorite. Very hard to eat in one bite. Mango roll was great though! Ortoro nigiri & salmon nigiri was great too!

Overall, my mom and sisters had a good time here. They put in our orders multiple times because the waiter came around twice with duplicate items which we didn't take. Dishes were decent portions for the price since Alaska dining is more expensive than most places. The area we sat in did not allow hotpot which was a bummer but we made do with our sushi options. Weekday evenings are pretty slow and there seems to be plenty of parking as well so we didn't struggle with that. No loud music playing in the back which is appreciated.

Took myself on a little dinner date and chose the right place. Amazing service and even better sushi. My waiter went above and beyond helping me decide what to order and even brought me a sample of his personal favorite to try, which was such a thoughtful touch. The spicy tuna roll he recommended was hands-down the freshest, yummiest one I've ever had, and the white tuna was unbelievably melty and delicious. You can truly taste the quality here. I'll absolutely be back!

Thankful for the fresh, fast, and friendly food and service our party received. The sushi and ingredients in our kitchen prepared dishes and our sushi were of fresh quality and delicious! No complaints. Beautiful decor and spacious dining area. Plenty of seating for all group sizes or if you want to dine alone. I'd like to try out the shabu-shabu hot pot next!

I ordered this through DoorDash so I can't comment on any service I was provided. But the food was amazing. I had the gyoza. The crunch and the crazy devil roll. Omg. Delicious. The gyoza were perfect and I ate them first because I couldn't stop eating them. Then the crazy devil roll. Admittedly I saved some for my later flight. Still delicious. And the crunch was tasty and I shared with my bff because she doesn't do spicy too well. Yeah, I have THAT friend. I'm imagining the service is as good as the food.

Kind of low key and casual, the service is quick and the rolls excellent. We had Sun of the Beach, Surf and Turf and Mr Choice, of the three, Mr Choice was so good we ordered a second. Mr Choice contained salmon, crab and tempura shrimp. What caught our attention was the delightful crunch on the top, not certain what that was but it was good.

I came by for a quick lunch while on a work trip. They offered complimentary miso soup and the edamame was very good - much better than the other edamame I have eaten while in Alaska. I got the Ninja roll which was fantastic. Most of the special rolls on the menu are some kind of California roll or spicy tuna roll with toppings, so not too much variety, but it was tasty. The service was quick and attentive, and I liked the seating area and the background music.

When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty small and seemed like it could fill up quickly during peak hours. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated. Once we sat down, I immediately noticed how sticky everything was! The table, the menus, and even the soy sauce (or "shoyu" for all my Hawai'i people) were noticeably sticky! The booth seats were also cracked. Luckily I was wearing long jeans so it didn't bother me too much. Normally, I don't mind a little noise, but the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone around us seemed to be talking at full volume, to the point where we could hear entire conversations from other tables. It definitely took away from the overall dining experience and vibe. As for the service, it was underwhelming. Our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and we had to go without refills for the entire meal. I also noticed some of the staff eating behind the sushi bar while they were still working, which I found a little off-putting and unprofessional. We started with the garlic edamame, which was loaded with garlic, something I personally love. Unfortunately, the edamame itself was mushy and overcooked. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll, combination fried rice, and a bulgogi bento. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and ended up being the best dish we ordered. The bulgogi bento, was VERY sweet, a little too sweet for my preference. The salad dressing wasn't anything particularly special, and the tempura was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially because I'm always on the hunt for good sushi outside of Hawai'i, but unfortunately, the food and overall atmosphere didn't quite meet my expectations. There were some decent dishes, but I don't think this will be a spot we rush back to.

Soup itself tasted like it was from the packaged udon in the refrigerated section. Tempura was definitely the frozen type and only fried once. Mine may have showed up 20mins after my neighbor's. The quality of the food items were just ok. I had comparable sushi at another sushi restaurant a few blocks away. -Idiot Fish: The most exciting thing was the name. It was a pretty firm fish, no fat, and quite a few bones. -Sashimi Platter: 6 types, with 2 each. We got mackerel, yellowtail, tuna, salmon, white fish (snapper?), and octopus. -King Crab Roll: What I thought was the imitation crab was actually real crab. The coloring was so ...fake looking. It's not a bad roll, but I'm not sure the flavor of the crab came through. -Beef Steak Japanese Style: Big dish but awful cut of meat and had a semi off taste. Either freezer burn or the fridge. It was full of sinew and super chewy. -Herring Roe on Seaweed: This had a strange bitter aftertaste. I couldn't eat the beef after having this, it made the beef bitter too. It was a super fun texture though. Very snappy, very poppy. Only come here if you absolutely have the time for it. My dinner took about 3 hours, and there were 5 other tables.

You definitely need a reservation; they have a few walk-in spots, but they go very fast, so you will want to get there right when doors open if you do not have one booked. The beverage menu is very well done, with great cocktails and thoughtful mocktails that felt just as crafted. For food, our starters set a high bar; the pork buns, pickles, and octopus were all flavorful and well prepared. The ramen itself was delicious and hits the spot in the Alaska weather, with deep, tasty broths and bold flavors throughout. The Dark Horse was especially good. We made a dining room reservation about a week ahead for 6:30 PM on a Thursday, but the place was packed and we still waited about 20 minutes for our table. We started with the Scotch Tamago and Whisky Pork Buns. The buns were soft and pillowy with crisped pulled pork, pickled cucumber, and candied chili. The pork had a firmer, almost pork-sung-like texture, and the sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors were a great combo. I also really liked the scotch tamago. The center was jammy and custardy, with a crisp exterior. For ramen, we had the Dark Horse. The broth was deep and rich with a little heat, and the noodles had a nice springy texture. It was a bit salty for me, but still very flavorful. The standout was definitely the Miso Baked Alaska. I mean, when in Alaska, you kind of have to get baked alaska at least once. This one was worth it. The toasted fluffy meringue, cold sweet cream ice cream, soft kinako cake, and salty-sweet miso caramel made for a really good mix of textures and flavors. Easily the best thing we had on the trip. Service was great. The atmosphere was lively and fun, though definitely pretty loud.
