    9. Salmon Poki

The salmon poki was delicious and filling enough for a main meal. Husband enjoyed the dragon roll as well. The dark wood interior furnishings are nice but the room had a fried kind of odor in it. We enjoyed and there was no wait time to be seated for dinner.

On our last day in the Northwest, my sister and I got to spend some time in Anchorage. Our Uber driver recommended Arctic sushi, so we decided to check it out for dinner. We had Jacob as our server, and he was phenomenal. It wasn't busy on a random Monday night, and he came over and talked to us several times. This place has some incredible sushi rolls to offer and definitely hit the spot. If you're in the Anchorage area, I would highly recommend some Alaskan sushi. Sushi: 9.1 Service: 9.5 Scale system 10/10 would be what I want for my last meal 9.9-9.3 driving out of my way to get this 9.2-8.0 like the place and would go back 7.9-7.0 I would come here again if it were presented and don't have anything bad to say 6.9 and below - thanks but no thanks after trying once

Very clean, quiet restaurant! Definitely worth a try. I got the chicken fried rice but the rest of my group got a few different sushi types and were very impressed. It was not busy so the waiter was very attentive and kind. Also give the red bean ice cream a try!!

Go! It's pricey , but worth it. Lot of flavor that's for sure. We had miso, spicy tuna roll , the Anchorage roll and veggie tempura . All 5 stars !

Very flavorful Yakasoba. Staff was very friendly and prompt. I will be returning to try something new. Small business and was clean and quiet, focused on quality not so much ambiance.

When I first pulled up outside I thought the place was closed because it was hella dark. Walked in and asked them if they were open. I wasn't sure because I was the only one here... I can honestly tell you I've been to the Arctic and the sushi place in Barrow had more light than this place. Sat at a high table first and felt short so I moved to a regular one. Immediately noticed the table and the environment felt sticky to my touch and smelled like a burnt kitchen. I ordered the large hot saki, typical hot saki nothing fancy. Wow! That menu.. not very helpful without pictures and those prices for even basic rolls are crazy high! So I stuck to one roll for this visit, the baked salmon roll. Unfortunately it was not as tasty as I expected. Received one pice of ginger with the roll. Not impressive. I've had awesome baked salmon rolls... in other places... you pay your check near the door. Did just that... $37.00 later bowed out and moved on to Benihana, which is right down the street!

Ciao every one! While in Anchorage on a overnight, I gave this sushi place a try. Overall all a good menu; Japanese and Korean items. Prices are mid range, average roll is $14.00 I started with a Miso soup, it was fine nothing special. The Hawaiian Tuna Poki was delicious. Very fresh tasting, with a nice spicy kick. The Salmon Nirigi was outstanding. Great flavors and super fresh fish. I finished my meal with the Fried Roll Kozebue Roll. A little plain, lacked that wow feeling yet it was tasty. Give this place a try if you are in the area. In the mean time keep eating yummy food! Arrivederci!

The 2 plates we tried were good, no complaints. However, the restaurant just looked/felt dirty. Everything felt greasy, including clean dishes. Service was quick. We were the 1st ones there at opening.

The pros- the sushi was good, albeit pricey- more pricey than the other sushi joints we've been to in Anchorage. The cons- service was atrocious, we only received 3 of the 4 rolls we ordered, never got refills, and had to go to the cash register to pay. I'll add we were THE ONE AND ONLY table in the place too!

The place has an okay atmosphere. Nothing special. A square with thick wood tables and wood paneling. We only got the deep fried tofu, a rainbow II roll and an order of veggie ramen. The tofu was very light and delicate. Not much flavor served with a season soy sauce. The rainbow roll was very good. The ramen was tasty. We enjoyed our food.

Frosty from a day out traversing downtown during the Fur Rondy, we made out way through the throngs on 4th Avenue to one of the best, but most expensive sushi joints in town. I'm not a huge fan of sushi (gasp, I don't do much fish) But since I do know this is some of the best sushi in town,we made our way through the throngs of people to the cute little cabin. Unapologetically Alaskan- Arctic Sushi is a log cabin, with country music, hand carved wood tables, and Japanese sushi chef. This is proof positive once again that Anchorage is undoubtedly a multicultural city. They have a very robust sushi, sashimi and nagiri menu with something for everyone, in addition to Terikayi and a few Korean items as well. I went for the cucumber roll and the vegetable tempura and the kiddo got some kind of magnificent looking sushi that had 3 different kinds of roe on it. It was absolutely gorgeous. My tempura was the most perfectly bettered and cooked tempura I've ever had. I've had a lot of tempura, but this, THIS was perfection. My only qualm with Arctic Sushi as so many others have stated is this place is SOOO expensive. My items were both 8 bucks each for small portions (remember they were veggie only) and they should have been 5.95. The fish sushi items were staggeringly expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for. Cause it was REALLY good.

Mine may have showed up 20mins after my neighbor's. The quality of the food items were just ok. I had comparable sushi at another sushi restaurant a few blocks away. -Idiot Fish: The most exciting thing was the name. It was a pretty firm fish, no fat, and quite a few bones. -Sashimi Platter: 6 types, with 2 each. We got mackerel, yellowtail, tuna, salmon, white fish (snapper?), and octopus. -King Crab Roll: What I thought was the imitation crab was actually real crab. The coloring was so ...fake looking. It's not a bad roll, but I'm not sure the flavor of the crab came through. -Beef Steak Japanese Style: Big dish but awful cut of meat and had a semi off taste. Either freezer burn or the fridge. It was full of sinew and super chewy. -Herring Roe on Seaweed: This had a strange bitter aftertaste. I couldn't eat the beef after having this, it made the beef bitter too. It was a super fun texture though. Very snappy, very poppy. Only come here if you absolutely have the time for it. My dinner took about 3 hours, and there were 5 other tables.

Downside: the wait for food and service can be very long, but Sam's a one-man operation -- and absolutely worth the patience! When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty small and seemed like it could fill up quickly during peak hours. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated. Once we sat down, I immediately noticed how sticky everything was! The table, the menus, and even the soy sauce (or "shoyu" for all my Hawai'i people) were noticeably sticky! The booth seats were also cracked. Luckily I was wearing long jeans so it didn't bother me too much. Normally, I don't mind a little noise, but the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone around us seemed to be talking at full volume, to the point where we could hear entire conversations from other tables. It definitely took away from the overall dining experience and vibe. As for the service, it was underwhelming. Our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and we had to go without refills for the entire meal. I also noticed some of the staff eating behind the sushi bar while they were still working, which I found a little off-putting and unprofessional. We started with the garlic edamame, which was loaded with garlic, something I personally love. Unfortunately, the edamame itself was mushy and overcooked. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll, combination fried rice, and a bulgogi bento. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and ended up being the best dish we ordered. The bulgogi bento, was VERY sweet, a little too sweet for my preference. The salad dressing wasn't anything particularly special, and the tempura was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially because I'm always on the hunt for good sushi outside of Hawai'i, but unfortunately, the food and overall atmosphere didn't quite meet my expectations. There were some decent dishes, but I don't think this will be a spot we rush back to.
