Everything I've tried is top notch. Arctic Sushi hasn't been here very long, but the place is great. The chef has worked in Chicago, New York, and obviously here. Several of the rolls are his own recipes. Many have a fun Alaskan flair. The Reindeer Roll is an interesting experience. Definitely worth a try. The tables inside are all cool handmade wood and have a fun, almost quirky personality to them, definitely working off the log cabin exterior. The atmosphere is quiet but relaxed. It's nice and comfortable for talking to the staff or other people at the bar. It's rarely crowded, the service is great, and everyone is super pleasant to talk to. Prices are all pretty decent time. After trying several restaurants downtown after the Yelp event, we finally found a place that we didn't have to wait hours to get a seat. In fact, the restaurant was pretty dead with only one other customer besides us. We didn't have to wait that long for the food. It was freshly cooked. The udon that I ordered was ok. The only complaint that I had was that the vegetables were pretty basic and limited. I understand that you don't get a lot of variety when it comes to edibles greens from the Mother Earth here in Alaska and the rent was probably crazy high since the restaurant was downtown. Nonetheless, it's a bit disappointing when you paid so much and only get the regular cheap veggies (carrots, cabbages, zucchini...) The owner was super nice though. Worth a stop. I had a traditional spicy tuna roll. It was very good. The tuna was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The presentation was simple, otherwise I would have raved more. Being a Sunday I didn't have a lot of options for sushi as many of the other stores in town are closed. So the taxi driver took me to the place that he knew. As soon as I got here and looked at the menu I knew it was going to be pricy. With all orders being 14-17 each it seems rather over priced for sushi. I have had here twice now. And both were just bad. First time I just ordered the Teriyaki Halibut Bento, the halibut was so over cooked and dry it was unappetizing. On top of getting fried calamari! That's the kicker. Not only was it raw and soaked in grease, there was still the spine in the rings. That alone could slice your throat open on the inside. Second time, I ordered since it was one of the few places open, bug mistake. I tried to order a roll, miso soup and gyoza. I didn't get any of those. Instead was two sloppily and greasy fried rolls, some mediocre fried rice, dumpling soup that had no seasoning in the dumplings and the broth tasting like dish water and fried out of date Oreos. Went in for dine in with five guests we were not told there would be 20% automatic gratuity charged until the end... I usually leave 20% if not more but upon receiving the bill for three rolls and a tea it was $127 when I asked why she said it was gratuity but it still did not match up with the price of the rolls.. she then came back with $88 bill. I ordered through third party delivery since it was the fastest option, and the cheapest in terms of service fees. It did arrive quickly, a little faster than they estimate. But it wasn't anything to write home about. I'm not really sure if I would try it again but chances are not unless I'm in the same situation- stuck at my second job without any time to grab food in between. I got the volcano roll, the spice level was pretty good, avocado could only be found on the last two pieces, the crab was (of course) imitation and had an extremely fishy taste. The roll itself was a decent size but still not very filling. The most disappointing part was the fact they forgot chopsticks. I have no utensils available and hoped I could use my hands. When I opened the box it was completely drowning in sauce that wasn't mentioned on the menu. I don't mean a normal amount like most places have drizzled across the top, I mean it looked like the container exploded and they decided to just leave it. I don't know if it was because of the sauce or poor sushi making in general but the rice couldn't hold its form for anything- it kept falling apart with even the lightest touch. I came in here after paper filing at the courthouse across the street. I ordered the sashimi bento and was excited about the experience since the interior was really comforting and the cook was really nice. I wasn't too excited with what I received. I didn't like the tempura because it was really thick and bready, and didn't even come with shrimp like all the other places I've been to. The sauce that it came with had too much vinegar and wasn't appetizing to dip into. The fish was okay but small, but I thought the salmon was a bit off on color, though it didn't taste bad. All in all it wasn't worth the $20. I don't think I will come again. I like my go-tos and this place didn't make the cut. read more

We ordered Artic Sushi, so my review is only based on the food. We ordered from GrubHub and the food was over priced and mediocre. My friend ordered chicken ramen, the ramen was soggy with dry meat. Considering it was in broth, the fact that the chicken was dry made no sense. The reindeer sausage was overly greasy amd the salmon teriyaki was an embarrassment; there were three slivers of salmon that were overcooked and disgusting. We live in Alaska preparing salmon properly should be a requirement especially for $17 a plate. The sushi itself was ok but again severely over priced due to the quality and also averaged about $18 a roll for 6 pieces. read more

Not impressed at all. My order was wrong, had so much sauce on it I could taste the sushi and the teriyaki chicken tasted horrible.

I have yet to try the ramen here, but every sushi roll I've had has been good. They're downtown which means they're easy for me to get to during a quick lunch. The service is good enough and wait times are fairly speedy, depending on what you order. Today, I was feeling like some soup so I got their dumpling noodle. It was fine. Nothing special. I probably wouldn't order it again but it worked. Doesn't give me super-high expectations for their ramen but who knows. I also had the crunch roll today and it was as good as any other crunch roll I've had around town. I don't think the prices are unreasonable for a little in-and-out lunch spot. The seating area always seems clean and well-kept. This isn't my first choice for lunch but it does add some variety to a corner mostly dominated by sandwiches, wraps, pizzas and burritos. read more

All the bad reviews surprise me. I came here one afternoon in August as a last minute decision, with a small group of friends. We all eat plenty of sushi here in LA, and even have in Japan. Was it the best sushi of my life? No. Was it worth a 2-star review? Definitely not. The restaurant was quiet, not too busy, clean, well lit from all the windows. We had a variety of sushi (including White King Salmon!) and beers. Service was fine. Our waiter was young, but attentive. They gladly let us split our check multiple ways. The food was not good at all, what we wanted to drink was never asked so I asked for water and it came a little while after the food. Warm water that is. Had to ask for utensils because when the food came we didn't have that either. Food seemed like it was put in a microwave to heat up. Also portion size is quite small for paying 16$ for a chicken fried rice with thee small and thin slices of chicken, and completely mediocre flavor. The sushi is less than disappointing as well and for one roll to be around 16$ as well I'd expect at least a step up in quality than that of Fred Meyer sushi. This place has a great location. Unfortunately, once Teriyaki Box left it, it changed so many times it could give you whip lash. This latest reincarnation as Arctic Sushi seems to be just okay. It could be a lot better. I got the chicken Bimbimbap and my friend got a roll. There were pretty much no vegetables except lettuce on my dish. So a "bimbimbap" that is only rice, chicken, and lettuce (really! Lettuce!?) and the bimbimbap sauce, it was highly disappointing. My friend got her roll, which she liked, but said that it seemed a bit rice heavy. The prices were high for what we received. Service was friendly but uncoordinated. When I got it, the waiter said the chef gave me extra sushi for free (ok cool that's awesome) then I look at the rest of the sushi pieces and I'm wondering why this was even served to me?! The salmon looked like it was sitting out for weeks!!! The raw shrimp was also dry and old looking. I ate about 2 pieces of the California roll, then I ate a piece of the raw tuna. I saw something weird poking out of the salmon so I poke it with my chopstick AND A WORM POKED OUT! It was absolutely disgusting!! I was on the verge of puking. Mind you I only ate a MAX of 4 pieces from my dish out of the ~30 that were on there and they were "kind" enough to not charge me for the plate I BARELY touched. I would've expected a full refund of the dinner and now I have to go to the doctor to make sure I didn't ingest any of the worms. I get that while consuming sashimi there's always a risk of worms, but as a restaurant you should be more cautious and also you shouldn't serve extremely old looking food that you KNOW doesn't look right. Passed by here and decided to give it a try since we were in a rush - we ordered 3 bento boxes at $17.95 each ... And it was not good at all . Also ordered one seafood udon , the seafood they put in that bowl was not fresh so it had a weird smell and tasted like rubber. Our beef teriyaki had no teriyaki taste whatsoever . Chicken teriyaki was ok but chewy . Salmon teriyaki was not fresh . Their miso soup was super bland. Horrible lunch and we paid over $80 for it . Certainly we will never come back read more
