The food was really good. I had the beef teriyaki lunch box and the food came at a relatively fast pass. It was hot and very flavorful. The service is very slow, but he did a great job. My only complaint is that the chairs had no padding with duct tape on the feet with cardboard to keep them level and the table was a little sticky. I would come back in the future. read more

I tried Arctic Sushi, on yelp reviews. Went on Saturday evening, and the place had 1 other couple dining. We sat at a table, and the server was attentive, and things went smoothly. The food was another story. We ordered 3 rolls and a small hot Sake. There were only 2 other customers, yet the food took a long time to arrive. The rolls were on the small side, and one of them had a bit of a fishy taste. Sounds odd to complain about a fishy taste, however sushi should not taste fishy. The staff were nice, and the server was attentive, so they get the stars, the food was uninspired and not worth the cost. read more

I bought the groupon on a whim since I'd never been here before - $12 for a $20 credit towards your meal. It helped lessen the blow, but I'll never eat here again. When my partner and I walked in around 5pm on a weekend, the place was completely empty - that probably said everything I needed to know, but since I already had the groupon, we stayed. The restaurant was clean. We stood in the doorway and had to shout "Hello?" to get anyone's attention. Waitress didn't get up, but just told us to "grab a menu and sit anywhere." Got water after a couple minutes, and ordered quickly - I was surprised by the high prices (generic California Roll is about $15), but hoped for good sushi to make up for it. We ordered 3 rolls to share, as we usually do. Miso soup came fairly quickly - it was lower quality than most instant miso soup packets. I was very disappointed. The rolls came quickly (maybe 10 minutes). They were tiny! Each roll was 8 pieces but they were very small. Presentation was mediocre at best - rolls were lumpy, rice covering was uneven, and sauce was slopped on with no apparent thought to how it looked. One roll did have sliced jalapeno with dots of siracha on top, which was visually appealing, but the other two looked less presentable than most sushi at the grocery store. I've forgotten which rolls were which, but we ordered the Ketchikan, Canadian, and Bethel rolls. One of them (with the jalapeno on top) tasted good and had a nice balance of flavor, even if it was small and unprofessionally put together. One, with tuna on top, tasted alright but the spicy tuna filling was overpowering and left only one flavor in your mouth. It was not balanced. Additionally, the tuna on top was sliced almost paper-thin, leaving it mostly for appearance only. I've never seen such skimping on fish before. The third roll actually had a filling that tasted like improperly stored fish. It had an unpleasant fishy taste that tells me the filling was neither fresh nor properly stored. Overall, we were very disappointed. We eat a lot of sushi, and this is definitely the worst sushi experience we've had in Anchorage. For nearly $50, we got about $20-25 worth of very low-quality sushi that left us disappointed and hungry for something good. read more

We had a party of 6. All got something different. All in the party agreed that the food was the best that we have had inland in Alaska. The tempura was perfect; light and crisp. The sushi was exceptional and the fried rice dishes, some of the best. Family owned and operated. Prices were right in line for the area. The food is hit or miss. I like their fried rice and some of their sushi rolls and have come a few times on my lunch hour when I was tired of the usual things I have. The teriyaki "bento" meals they have are not good. The teriyaki chicken is often dry, or slimy with big chunks of gristle. I usually end up waiting 20-30 minutes for food which is not cool for people on their lunch hour. They lost my business when they refused to honor a groupon deal by making up some stupid rules that were not indicated on the groupon. (No take out, dinner only, and they want to physically see the number of people eating. Really?) I don't mind following rules when they are made clear, but these were not. Customer service is definitely lacking. I might go back later, but right now I'm really not impressed. read more

I had the chicken ramen soup--ordered it spicy. I needed something to soothe a horrendous chest and head cold. This hit the spot perfectly. A nice big hot steaming bowl of ramen noodles with celery, brocolli, onions, carrots, and of course chicken. It was nice and brothy too. I ate the whole thing. Do not sleep on this place. It looks very unassuming from the outside but the Sushi is to die for. There were a lot of rolls ordered, but what stood out was the quality of the fish and the uniqueness of the flavor profiles the chef puts together on these rolls. The Canadian roll is excellent with the Jalepeno and there is also traditional fare such as California and Tekka Rolls. I personally loved the uniqueness of the Reindeer Sausage roll as it really brought the whole Alaska experience to what would have normally been a regular (but tasty) sushi dinner. I will definitely agree with others that the seafood is very fresh and everything does taste great. However, the business part is lacking... I think there is only one waiter, and he occasionally leaves to do deliveries. This forces the main chef to take orders at the cash register which is next to the front door, so there's a bottle neck of people trying to get in, out, and order. After ordering, we waited about 20 minutes for our lunch, so we felt we had to rush to eat. This place does not even deserve one star. I don't leave bad reviews but this experience was horrific. I met my boyfriend for lunch one afternoon, we were the only 2 people there. Our server informed us it was his 2nd day, he forgot a few things that came with our meal but other than that everything was fine. My boyfriend and my meals were each $15.95. I had a valid $10 off coupon from Northern lights coupons. The bill came to be 31.90+tip, I signed without thinking if he took of the $10.00. I later was thinking about it and gave the restaurant a call, I spoke with our server. He informed me he did not take off the 10.00 and would refund my card and if I did not see the transaction back in my account to come in and he will refund me, 10 bucks. The next day no refund but INSTEAD was charged 45.90! I went in to the restaurant, our server was not working but the 2 owners were, a man and women. I explained the situation. (mind you they were both speaking perfect English) They came to the conclusion that unfortunately they could not refund me my $10 off nor could they refund the extra $45.90 that was charged. They then went on to say the "no speak a English" After becoming quite upset over the situation, they called our server on his day off to come in and refund me $55.90!! So there I sat for 1 hour, on my day off waiting on our server. This money was not coming from the restruant.. wait for it.. but instead from our servers pocket! Claiming this was his mistake and needs to pay us back. Our server arrived frazzled (im pretty sure he lost his job that day) and refunded me. This place needs to be put out of business for how the treat their customer, and EMPLOYEES. read more

Wow....can you say overpriced! My wife and I ordered 4, yes 4, sushi rolls. We stopped by arby's on our way home. The rolls are really not worth it. We had a groupon for this place and have never been. When we got there they looked closed. No one else was inside. we sat down and never got asked if we wanted anything other than water. We ordered our 4 rolls we had a $20 Groupon, After about 40 minutes our food came out (We were still the only ones there). We ate, still felt hungry, got our check which was $75 minus the $20 for the groupon of course. Each roll was about $20 a piece, the highest I have ever seen in anchorage and really not that great. I read reviews before I went and reviews say they're the biggest rolls, but both our rolls were average size. My sister heard the microwave going, and we noticed her spicy tuna was warm.
