I thought it was pretty risky to order ramen for delivery but Ramen House definitely "delivered" (pun intended) All of our dishes were fantastic, I got the Tonkotsu Special, and loved it. Another ordered cheesy ramen and it was super yummy also! But fair warning, be careful of your spice level choice with the spicy ramen....my buddy has a high spice tolerance so ordered a pretty high number on a scale of 1-10 and he could barely eat it. Another colleague got a 3 spice level and it was SPICY but delicious! Best part!!!!! They pack the noodles separate from the broth, so it's not soggy when you get it. I tried this place right after discovering Naruto Ramen. Out of all of the ramen places in town, this place could use the most improvement. The wait staff was great and made sure I had all that I needed. I found their ramen to be a bit plain. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and it tasted more like pho than ramen. The broth was a bit watered down and a little more spicier than I'd prefer. Their goyza was pretty delicious with the chili sauce that came with it. I feel they should add a chicken ramen and a seafood ramen to the menu. Most are pork, which is traditionally what ramen is made with. This Ramen House is the best I have found in Anchorage so far. It sits back of Firewood near the corner of CST. It has tables for 42 with 9-4 toppers and 1 six, plusa counter for 5. It is family friendly and a great place for lunch and dinner. The Yelp listing belonged to a former owner and shows the restaurant closed. It is obviously wrong and when I discussed it with the owners they said they couldn't change the listing, but they have a website at www.Ramenhousealaska.com. Please check there as they are open for lunch and dinner. See photos of their menu for hours and days. They specialize in Ramen, Curry and Sushi dishes or offerings. They have others on the menu. The items are priced very reasonable from $9.00 appetizers to most dishes in the mid teens to one at $23. Excellent for Anchorage today. I had the #10 Special Tolnkotsu Ramen with noodles at heat level 8. They grade how hot u think you can eat by 1 to 10. 1 being mild to 10 hot hot . I can eat very hot so I choose the 8. But half way through I added one spoon of Chili Sauce. If you start low, they give you a small jar of Chili Sauce with a tiny spoon. Best if you don't know how hot you can handle, to start with one spoon and stir it in and taste. If u need more add one at a time and taste until you feel it is hot enough. If you add to much without tasting it is very hard to lower the heat. This dish contains spiced ground beef and pork, vegetables, an egg half, a spicy tomato sauce or at least a read color. It has ample amounts of perfectly done semi thick noodles than were very flavorful. The vegetables were also cooked well and tasty. Their ramen selections are all distinctly different from Anchorage's other ramen shop. This is definitely not a "which is better" situation since they aren't directly comparable. It's more apples to pears than apples to apples. My dish (I can't remember the name, but it was the ramen #4) was pretty delicious, I asked for hot sauce and got some delicious chili powder and chili oil to add some kick. A little gem in Anchorage. They have the best ramen in Anchorage! The noodles are firm to perfection. The soup bases are consistent and flavorful. 100% This place gets what a ramen house is. Anchorage is a little lacking in great, non-chain restaurants but there are some gems here and this is certainly one. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted by the guy behind the bar & then shown to our table. The service was excellent and included a visit by an older Asian woman (perhaps the chef or owner), making sure our meals were good (which is an understatement). She made some kind, friendly small-talk and let us enjoy the rest of our meals. I got the miso ramen bowl. With a little chili oil, it was heaven. The cabbage and all other vegetables were plentiful which is a must for me. The noodles were exactly as firm as I like them too. The only problem I had with my meal is the same problem I always have with a good bowl of ramen: my patience dies off LONG before the broth cools enough to truly enjoy it. Such was the case here but it was WELL worth the wait. If you've never experienced ramen beyond the instant stuff at the store, give this place a go. Ramen is so much more than a $0.99 packet of college student desperation. It's especially good after a nice, long stroll outside in the crisp, springtime air (which is what we did). Well, I gotta say the people working here are super personable. They couldn't have treated me any better! I originally went in to try several kinds of Ramen by ordering them to go. But, that was not to be. They don't serve Ramen to go; although they do to go orders on all other menu items. Their owner, who was so sweet about it, told me she takes great pride in her Ramen Noodle bowls and to experience the best of what they're meant to be, one has to dine in. She also told me she wants to get to know all the customers personally. Guess I couldn't argue with that one lol, albeit I was somewhat disappointed that I couldn't get my usual sampling out of the first visit. I wasn't hungry when I went in originally due to having eaten a bit somewhat before. Nonetheless, I HAD to try at least ONE of their Ramens since I had taken the effort to drive there in the first place. They did tell me that anything I did not eat there could easily be taken home, so I figured on taking a few bites and packing the rest to take home. I ordered Tonkotsu Ramen. It came out very fast and piping hot at that. How was it? Wonderful! The Chashu Pork was very flavorful and tender. They gave lots of veggies (napa cabbage, sprouts, and green onions), the broth was typically delicious and satisfyingly rich and the noodles were nicely chewy as good Ramen noodles ought be. The egg could have been a little better (seemed not as flavorful as some I've had in the past) but it wasn't bad in any way. Overall I'd give the Tonkotsu variety 9/10. Of note, the noodles stayed chewy enough for me to still enjoy after I had gotten home later that evening. They did not become mushy. There are many other Ramen varieties to choose from so my husband and I are going to have to go back and try some more. From a customer service and food quality standpoint, I'd say this place is going to be giving the other Ramen Restaurant (Naruto) some serious competition. Where to begin... After a long day of traveling from LA to Anchorage. My friend and I had Starbucks at 5am to get us through majority of the day and by 6pm we were settled so we decided to get food. We picked this place because of the fantastic reviews. Once we got in we got seated and were given a menu. Mind you, we are from LA and we are used to the hussle and bussle of the city. No one had stopped by to get our order in over 15 minutes so I had told a lady passing by that we were ready. She said to give her a second because she was helping another table but then came right back and took out order. We ordered and were so excited for ramen in winter weather. Two different tables came in after us and we realized that one of them hasn't gotten a menu and the other table looked ready to order. They had about 10+ orders taped on the window through the kitchen on one side and more on the other side facing the kitchen. The people that ordered take-out would walk in and their orders weren't ready. Nearing the 30 minutes of waiting after we ordered we saw that other tables that were there before us were getting their ramen but not at the same time. One table had received their ramen after their family member had already finished theirs. We looked up other places to eat and there is pho vietnam #8 down the street and they had attended to us and served us within 15 minutes. G L U T E N F R E E ramen. I feel like that's all I need to say here. And it's made from scratch. This is so rare that the only ramen I've had before (other then the Maruchan 25 cent ramen noodles of my youth) is the "miracle" noodles at a ramen shop in Seattle. There is a catch though, they would like you to call them 30 minutes before to put your order in if you'd liked GF noodles. Unless your willing to wait that long, and have to have them tell you that you should have called ahead. I hear that it is a bit expensive though. I am not an experienced ramen person price wise, due to the lack of GF ramen option. Wow, what a day in anchorage!!! The earthquake.... It was around noon when we all of us at work decided to go home as there was no power in our office. Wanted to get some Chinese food and my wife suggested Ramen house. The reviews weren't bad as well. We walked in, chose a table and sat down. This lady walks over, doesn't say hello, doesn't smile but just drops the menus on our table and walk away. Hmmm maybe she was upset with the earthquake and all, never mind! We ordered this garlic chicken thingy for starters-it was small pieces of chicken, dipped in some sort of garlic batter and fried.was ok. I got the beef yakisoba and my wife got the chicken katsu as our entrees. The yakisoba noodles were just again ok, just ok-nothing great. Tasted like Maggi noodles to be frank. The chicken katsu was a disappointment. The saving grace in the dish was the sauce that came with the dish that had some taste or flavor. The chicken was basically breaded and fried-lacked taste and flavor and it came with some steamed rice.
