G L U T E N F R E E ramen. I feel like that's all I need to say here. And it's made from scratch. This is so rare that the only ramen I've had before (other then the Maruchan 25 cent ramen noodles of my youth) is the "miracle" noodles at a ramen shop in Seattle. There is a catch though, they would like you to call them 30 minutes before to put your order in if you'd liked GF noodles. Unless your willing to wait that long, and have to have them tell you that you should have called ahead. I hear that it is a bit expensive though. I am not an experienced ramen person price wise, due to the lack of GF ramen option. I've been working my way thru the ramen menu, I'm a semi regular now, but I think I'm just a veggie ramen with some seafood added type girl. Wow, what a day in anchorage!!! The earthquake.... It was around noon when we all of us at work decided to go home as there was no power in our office. Wanted to get some Chinese food and my wife suggested Ramen house. The reviews weren't bad as well. We walked in, chose a table and sat down. This lady walks over, doesn't say hello, doesn't smile but just drops the menus on our table and walk away. Hmmm maybe she was upset with the earthquake and all, never mind! We ordered this garlic chicken thingy for starters-it was small pieces of chicken, dipped in some sort of garlic batter and fried.was ok. I got the beef yakisoba and my wife got the chicken katsu as our entrees. The yakisoba noodles were just again ok, just ok-nothing great. Tasted like Maggi noodles to be frank. The chicken katsu was a disappointment. The saving grace in the dish was the sauce that came with the dish that had some taste or flavor. The chicken was basically breaded and fried-lacked taste and flavor and it came with some steamed rice. The food is always consistently delicious and the staff is very friendly. I was in for lunch a few weeks ago when one of the bigger aftershocks hit. We customers all froze but the staff was so intent on service, that they didn't appear to even notice. That's dedication. I recommend the Spicy Miso Ramen. read more

We had such an amazing experience about two weeks ago (I'm sorry this is so late!). We came in maybe 5 minutes before closing and we're welcomed with such sweet and amazing employees. Lots of smiles and laughs! Then we ordered our food. My grandma (who normally is very picky on foreign foods) even LOVED the ramen we had! It was so amazing and such good portions for what we paid!! Then, as we left, the chef and I believe owner, gave my grandfather a rose to give to his wife! So sweet! We sadly didn't have a chance to come back before we left town but we will come back as soon as we can!! read more

Came here twice and tried two different bowls of ramen. The miso was great, but the shoyu was exceptional. Each sip took me back to the small mom & pop shops in Japan. No wonder it's the chef's recommendation! Service was also warm and accommodating. My only criticism is that the meat was a little too chewy for my taste, but the broth and accompanying flavors made up for it. Hands down the best bowl of ramen I've had stateside. I tried the Spicy Miso Ramen and it quite average. There was virtually no meat, while there was an over abundance of ramen noodles.

Three words. MISO. VEGGIE. RAMEN. First time visiting this place and I was a little hesitant because sometimes a newer restaurant has all the hype but lacks the deliciousness. Not true in this case. I ordered the Miso veggie ramen with tofu. Lets talk atmosphere! From the outside the place looks a little sketchy but when you enter you are greeted by extremely nice employees. The place is quite nice inside and very clean from what I was seeing. The dining area isn't large but it is a fairly good size. There was a relaxing ambiance as well. There is a bar and stools as well. Service~ The moment you walk through the doors to when you walk out after your meal, you are treated well. I love a place that pays attention to your drinks when they are low but also don't pester you every 10 minutes. Drinks were always being refilled. I didn't try any of the alcohol because I don't drink. Food~ What can I say? IF you are debating on trying this place be it location, food, etc, I HIGHLY recommend going. It is worth it. I can't say enough about the food. They give you huge portions, the noodles tasted like they were hand made, I forgot to ask. Went here on the suggestion of a friend who had not gone there either. So happy we did! I got the Spicy Miso Ramen level 3. It was delicious!!! I was stationed in Japan and it was on par with the food there, probably cause it is cooked by the owner whom is from Japan. She came out and talked to all the customers and made sure we were all happy with our food. She was super friendly and funny and open to suggestions on how to make her restaurant better. We both had to add SALT AND SOY SAUCE to our ramen. It was one of the most depressing moments in ramen history. And we did it. Almost a crime. We tried to hide the fact we did it so we didn't come off as disrespectful. But truly the ramen was wack. Egg wasn't marinated in soy sauce. Vegetables were weak. Tried out this place with my boss for lunch cause my other coworker really liked their ramen. I got the Tonkutsu ramen and my boss got the miso ramen and we also shared gyoza for appetizer. The service was quick and the server was very attentive. The serving size was pretty big which I felt my boss and I could have shared 1 ramen. I also thought their serving plates were cute! However, for my Tonkutsu I only had 2 very small pieces of meat and I hoped for more than that and the rest were most vegetables. In the ramen we thought that there were too much vegetables than the noodles itself. I do prefer Naruto's ramen as their broth doesn't taste so bland like we had here as it didn't have much flavor. read more

I wouldve given a 3.5 but, YELP. Had high expectations coming down here the other day. I won't say I'm disappointed but I don't really get the hype. The ramen is okay, good but lacks flavor. Ive had authentic ones and I can say this is legit as well but there's something missing when it comes to flavor and dimension of the broth. I like the noodles, cooked the way it should be but the pork is really thin and dry. Weird to call it dry when it's drowned with soup. It's just flat. I knew we never should have ordered tonkatsu as they are "Ramen House" but we did. The pork tonkatsu is tender, has a nice crust but again, lacks flavor. Trust me, salt would've made it taste better. Of course i didnt put salt as many of you would have been thinking about that now, but i just don't see the point of doing that, specially on a tonkatsu. Not on my tonkatsu at least. The biggest letdown was the karaage. It was $8.50 to begin with and yet again, bland. Ok, i think im done with the bad. Of course there are things that we liked. Service is awesome! I really appreciate the presentation of the dishes. Took a little long to be served but I think it only means, everything is fresh. Would i come back? Yes. I would give it another try. read more

This is place has seriously good Ramen. The broth is nice and rich and is accompanied by a balanced mix of vegetables and meat and that gives their ramen a wonderful taste. The location is cozy with a Japanese feel. The staff was wonderful they checked with me constantly during my visit to ensure that my drinks and my food was ok. I have never had real ramen before. Sure, I have had my fair share of top ramen and all that packaged stuff growing up, but I have never had fresh ramen noodles. I really enjoyed my shio ramen, it had chashu pork, cabbage, carrots, onions, bean sprouts, egg, green onion, and bamboo shoots with a healthy serving of ramen noodles. Food came out beautifully presented and the staff was very nice. Only issue I would have was the price of my lunch. $15.50 for a bowl of ramen and a soda is a little steep for lunchtime fair. 2nd review. This time just so so. Busy hopping lunch rush maybe the reason. Called ahead for gluten free noodles for my daughter. Timing was fine allow 30 minutes if you dont call in advance. Daughter complained "where's the meat?" She picked several pieces of pork fat out though. This from the girl that picks fat off bacon because its gross to her. Ended up having to order a side of pork to add to her soup I wonder if they forgot ber meat since her broth and noodles was made special? I have to admit my spicy miso was tasty but light on meat. I had some though. Very different experience during the lunch rush than Last time. Maybe stretching the soups out to feedlots of people? Overall good but underwhelming. Service spotty too. Ramen house was my husband's and my first stop ever after arriving in Anchorage. We both had the spicy miso ramen. When I looked at the egg, it was just a regular hard-boiled egg and not the usual ramen egg that has a nice medium yolk. But it didn't matter because the broth and the noodles were amazing. They have one person cooking in the back and she reminds me of my grandma!! Fresh tasting ramen every time! I would definitely recommend this place and recommend the spicy miso ramen.
