Great food great service awesome atmosphere. It's a must try. They got me coming back all the time.

A hidden gem in the Chugiak/Peters Creek area. It's connected to the VFW, and easy to miss. While I think that the local community is now well aware of their presence, it is absolutely worth driving from Anchorage or stopping on your way through to sample. They open most days at 4 PM, however, calling ahead to verify and check wait times is not a bad idea. About two weeks ago, a pick up order was called in for three entrées at 6:00pm and we were told there was a 45 minute wait, that turned into an hour and a half. When I arrived at the 1hour mark with two elderly and very hungry parents in the car, there appeared to be nobody dining in, but there were a few people pacing while waiting to pick up food. After about 15 minutes, one lady rang the service bell multiple times and when a staff member came out she angrily declared she'd like to pay for something she had consumed, canceled the rest of her order, and stormed out. I asked the other folks how long they had been there and the consensus was that they had been waiting quite a while. After another half hour wait and a few more folks arriving to pick up, my families order was the first ready. It was steaming hot and obviously fresh as having just been completed. I hope everyone else got their food in quick succession. It seemed likely there was an issue in the kitchen as sometimes the wait is long when they're busy but they've been pretty accurate in expressing wait times in the past. A subsequent order two days ago called in at about 4:15 was ready in 20 minutes. So the secret may be calling before dinner time. Their menu is delicious. Everything is always prepared so well and we have never been disappointed. Favorites have been red curry and green curry, both are pretty spicy but remarkable. Pad Thai and the Bangkok noodle are also delicious. Pineapple fried rice is quite possibly something you haven't tasted before, but will want to have again, spring rolls are always a favorite, Sesame chicken has never failed, and any order where tofu is a non-meat choice, the tofu is absolute perfection. The dining room is way too hot for this Alaskan, but is spacious and can seat large parties. Call ahead and check the wait times but definitely check this place out for dinner. It is family owned, and they are very friendly, taking great pride in the food they prepare and their service. read more

I'm by no meals an expert on Asian cuisine, I just like what I like. If you live in the Chugiak/Peters Creek area, you may or most like may not know that there is an small Asian restaurant connected to the American Legion building. I thought I had seen a sign a while back, but wasn't sure if it was really there. Indeed... it is and it's the same owner of its namesake in Eagle River, at the old China Lights location. After checking the menu, we opted for some takeout this evening and honestly, we weren't disappointed. Two meals consisting of an entree, fried rice, soup and an egg roll for $19 each. Sweet & Sour Pork and Mongolian beef were our entrees... with it being takeout, the pork was a smidgen soggy from the steam and the sauce was little runny for our liking. Not gonna lie, we like the thick sauce that really sticks to the pork; the flavor was good though. Mongolian beef was super tender and the onions were sautéed perfectly... soft but still crisp! Portions were good, food was hot and only took about 20 minutes to prepare. I've hear their Thai food and noodles are quite good as well, which we will try at some point. I do wish I would have ordered a Thai tea too... only thing I forgot to get. It's a holiday, so the restaurant itself was empty when we picked up. The gal who answered the phone and cashed us out was very polite... probably just takeout from most in New Years Eve. We'll go back... it's nice to have another option out here in our neck of the woods!!! read more

It was my dads birthday and he he really likes this place. It was my first time eating here, truthfully, I had no idea Peter's Creek had an Asian restaurant. Ordered two apps, crab Purses and spring rolls. Both were pretty mediocre, spring rolls lacked something, maybe too much icebergs lettuce? I had the Mongolian beef, brother and dads wife had the Tom kha and dad had the seafood pho. Biggest issues was the food timing and service, I received my food first, five minutes later the Tom kha, then 5 minutes after that the pho. We never received water refills and our waitress never cleared our plates as well. Food is ok, service is ok. So it was ok. read more

The curry is amazing, especially the green curry!! If you like Pho, it is definitely worth trying here, but I always have to add stuff to it to spice it up and give it some extra flavor. I didn't mind the chicken pad Thai, but could not fell the seafood pad thai, as the seafood was difficult to eat, it came with imitation crab, gristly, tentacles, and shrimp, with the tails still attached, which requires the customer to have to put their hands in their saucy, sticky food and remove the tails. But the worst part is that in four bites, I kept finding little pieces of shells from the tails that had broken off into my food. I didn't really enjoy that. The fresh rolls are decent. besides that I think it's a great place to check out. The ambience could far better and so could the customer service. read more

They have the best Thai/Chinese food in the Anchorage and Eagle River area. The food is always hot and freshly prepared. Generous amounts of food at reasonable prices. The 11th of every month is Military Appreciation Night for 30% off for all active and retired military. Normally 10% discount for the military. read more

Don't let the outside fool you, they have great food. It is worth the trouble to drive from Anchorage. Dinner with friends and our teenage kids. 8 different meals; everyone loved their meal. Everything tasted fresh - more spices and complex flavor than the other Asian places in Eagle river. The pineapple fried rice was delicious and the sauce on the pad Thai was AWESOME. I really enjoyed Fried Rice Express! We ate here a few years ago, when it first opened. I am happy to see that they are still in business! And, they have a new location in Eagle River. The Chugiak location is off the beaten path. The service here has always been mediocre. I would have given Fried Rice Express a 5 for the food, alone! My beer took over 30 minutes to get to the table. The waitress was too young to deliver it, so the kitchen staff delivered it. The restraunt wasn't that busy with seated customers, so I am unsure what took so long! However, the food was delicious and fresh. My husband ordered Ginger Stir-fry. He said the flavor was amazing! My pan fried noodles were so tasty. They were also great reheated for lunch the next day! The apple salad is the best. I have dreams about this salad! The crab rangoon was super hot and well cooked! I have had the curry and many chinese dishes! Everything on the menu is delicious and you can tell it is made with love! I can't wait to try the ER location and I love the new website! read more

We took my son here for his 16th birthday and it was an excellent experience. There was only one waiter, Vang, and he did a great job managing multiple tables. As for the food, nice cuts of meat in the pepper steak, and nice size servings of orange chicken, General Tso chicken and chicken with broccoli. Flavor was excellent in each dish. Ordered food for pickup at 7:00 pm. Was told 40 minutes. Arrived at 7:40 and paid. Was told food is almost ready. 45 minutes later the food was finished, 8:25. Surely it doesn't take 85 minutes to cook a simple order. The only reason for the two stars is that the food tasted good. One star for service and wait. I have always had great service. Sue Lis knows how to bring Far Eastern fare alive and truly scrumptious. She knows almost instinctively what I want to order. She makes the "heat" perfect for the dish or hors d'ouver. Prices are reasonable and the ambiance typical of far eastern restaurants. We love the food and how personable the owner is. This place isn't much in the way of decoration, but the food is delicious! Butted up next to the American Leagion, it's a bit of a hole in the wall. My husband got the drunken noodles, I ordered the peanut curry noodles and our children shared the orange chicken and we had chicken egg rolls as an app. The portions are HUGE and piping hot. My curry noodles were flavorful with a creamy sauce and lots of vegetables and chicken. The orange chicken was a huge hit with our kids who are hard to please at 5 and 6 years old and my husband and I enjoyed a few bites ourselves. The chicken eggrolls were made with rice paper and vermicelli noodles then fried. Different from other eggrolls I've had, but tasted great and were a lighter fare than most. Service was great, and I followed the waiter's recommendation for the coconut milk curry (not always a fan) and the flavors were so authentic and unusual and delicious that I am glad I did. Husband stuck with his usual General Tso Chicken and Pork Fried Rice and was also pleased. Good food in an unexpected find (thanks to fellow yelpers) so if you come across its path, I recommend stopping. And I also recommend the coconut milk curry with shrimp and extra spice. Best Chinese/Thai food you'll get in the Eagle River/Chugiak area. It's remotely located next to the American Legion building and owned by a Thai couple. My wife had beef and broccoli, I had beef panang, and we both shared spring rolls. Food was very good and totally scratch cooking in every respect and prepared by the owner and his wife. Only complaint: expensive prices, even for Alaska. Our two entrees, side of spring rolls, and hot tea we shared cost $40. read more

We have been here several times and the portions are to share sizecome hungry and it's okay to wait a few minutes because everything that we have was so fresh and yummy! Food fort he soul. The food was authentic and served in large portions. The price was good for being all the way out in Chugiak. Nice family and good service.

The food is phenomenal! The owners are very friendly and always come out to greet customers. The peanut curry noodle, and beef salad are incredibly good, and the crab Rangoon is a very tasty appetizer. I'm so glad they replaced China lights in Eagle River. My wife and I came on the recommendation of a friend. It was well deserved. The Pad Thai has a pleasant hint of citrus. I had the kung pao chicken very good but even mild was on the moderate hot side. Very generous fresh rolls. The staff appears to all be family it is set in an unused portion of the American Legion so a little sparsely decorated. Be aware that the yelp map is wrong. first time from this dive. ie.: triple DDD we ordered Beef and Broccoli, beef was tough and under flavored, veggies were from a frozen bag. (sysco). Broccoli was very overdone. we ordered a side Thai pork fried rice, ($12). in your usual stryofoam take home container. It appears all the rice is steamed and then they add your meat and veggies later along with a very sweet sauce. all the rice taste the same, along with frozen veggies. nothing fresh except the onions, my bill was 27.00. expensive for what I got, i'm saying 12 bucks for a side fried rice? glad thats all I ordered. think I'll pass on this one read more

We were introduced to this place a couple nights ago when friends we are staying with ordered take out. They got Pad Thai noodles, General Tao Chicken, Emerald Red Curry, and Emerald Green Curry. I am from Orlando, and this place was far better than our normal Thai place AND Chinese place back home. Today, we had to go back! This is my favorite place. They recently added Pho to the menu too, and it was great. Came with all the condiments you'd get at a Pho place. The owners are the cooks and they genuinely see that every detail of the food is just right, and they usually come out and ask how the food is. Love the red curry, egg rolls, and sesame chicken too. Everything is good. And I've never noticed frozen mixed veggies is anything- don't know what that other yelper even got that from. I don't find the prices to be unreasonable- the food is delicious and well prepared. And I am a former chef with a refined palate. Another good thing about this place is that they are never crowded- even on a Friday night- because they are off the beaten path. And no one there ever gets annoyed with my unruly children.
