Beef House Fries - (I dream of these fries...)
    Courtney R.

Cravings satisfied! My husband and I took a trip back to AK recently to visit family and a stop at BURGER JIM was a non negotiable Not to be dramatic but I miss their food already lol I waited 6 years to eat here again and it was worth the wait. The girly at the front was so sweet and the shop expanded quite a bit since our last visit - it looks great! If you've never been here before it is a MUST! They have a double menu serving Burgers and Chinese food. My go to is their house fries, it has Mongolian beef on it and it is just heavenly and my fave is their Big Philly burger. *chefs kiss* So happy they're still out here thriving! We will 100% be stopping by when we're back in state again!

My husband and I were on a trip to Wasilla to visit friends and were excited to share this local spot, Burger Jim's. It's utterly amazing the options this one spot. Burgers, Chinese food, and more! For our meal, three of us got different burgers; one with a side of tatter tots, one with onion rings, and a starter of gyoza for the table . I ordered orange chicken with rice, because it was listed as a popular dish, and why not. It was pretty hard to pick something because there was a huge selection of food to choose from. The food was good and there was lots of seating. My BFF wanted to show off the art for sale, which was a variety of painted canvas of the Simpsons, and such. This is the sort of place that calls out our number after your order. A good spot to meet friends, plus this place supports local sport teams. We enjoyed our lunch and I'm sure we will return again.

With their infamous sign of I Love BJ's there is some pretty unique dishes here. Kimchi Burger was surprisingly delicious as well as the garlic burger. Restaurant was clean with plenty of seating and the staff were very friendly. Just a little hole in the wall burger joint but definitely worth checking out!

    Great marketing!

Oof. Food is average to below average. At the prices we paid, it was a suboptimal value. Our burgers were overcooked and the kalbi was tough and greasy (which is a travesty considering how good it has been everywhere else we've had it). They had a brief power outage at the end of our visit that was emblematic of our time there but I'm certainly not holding that again them. Let's call it a 2 out of 5. The marketing, however, is outstanding! Straight up 5 out of 5

Do yourself a favor and skip the national sandwich chain next door. The food and service at Jim's was great. Cool little hole in the wall place. Staff was hustling to get there Togo orders out and no one had to wait very long. Will definitely be back.

Had a bunch of recommendations to try this place for a while..finally remembered to give it a shot. At first you're not quite sure what to expect, it's in an awkward location next to subway, to walk in to the place is different, and once you're in there..there's a good amount of people sitting on the side waiting for their order. This place is mainly for take-outs..there is no seating inside or out, unless your car counts? Anyways, everyone is very friendly as soon as you walk in and on top of it. We placed our order right away and decided to order from previous recommendations from yelpers reviews. The prices are very reasonable, I love finding gems with good deals!! We waited for about 15 minutes as we were told and got our food promptly. Everything worked out smoothly. Food is ridiculous. I've read the raves about it and was like..can't be that good!?!? It's that good!! The loaded house fries are...holy shyza! Super good. The sauces they use, I can't even explain it. The philly steak egg rolls were...the best philly steak egg rolls EVER!!! I ordered the Mongolian beef but I had to wait a bit because I over indulged and made myself full..anyways..when I had the strength to eat or at least try it..Amazing!! My husband ordered the Jims burger and the P-town burger. To sample both and get an idea..he said both were crazy good!!! I am always a bit sketched out on places serving certain fusion of food..but this place definitely topped all expectations. I definitely found a regular take out place here on out. Super glad we stopped in to check it out. Thank you Burger Jim!!

Large burgers, house made. Orange chicken and Mongolian beef are cooked there and delicious.

The most diverse condiment bar I have ever seen.

Good food if you want a big juicy burger. Not for the faint of heart or gut. You won't break the bank either, which is nice for a change.

Ample parking, easy access, and the kind of brewery where you feel welcome whether you're a lifelong Alaskan or just passing through. Pro tip: Arrive with an appetite and an open mind. All told: If craft beer is part of your travel plan (or if you simply want a great local spot for food & drink), Matanuska Brewing Company in Palmer should be high on your list. Cheers to that!

Mantanuska Brewery is the latest brewery I got to try for the first time and it was an enjoyable first time experience. Steve and I got one beer from this brewery on two separate occasions and I liked it both times. The Deep Powder Porter was the name of the beer we had. What I liked about this beer was that it was very smooth which made it an easy one to drink. There is a malty sweetness going on here with roasty, caramel and cocoa flavors. Untappd had the beet as a feature with this beer as "brilliant " and I can see that going on with this porter but I might call it "alive" as this porter wasn't a dull one at all to drink but instead it was a fun one.

Lots of booths and tables, quite a big dining room. It's not fancy. But it's always busy. It's very affordable. We often used to come for just a piece of pie, and they had a delicious blueberry pie, which unfortunately wasn't offered the other night when I was there. I don't care too much for banana cream this or chocolate chess that - they're just too sweet for me, I'm not that much of a dessert person. I was sort of hoping they might have pumpkin pie, as it's almost that time but they didn't have any. I try to have it at least once or twice in fall. I went for the least offensive option which in this case was apple pie. I went for a la mode, and as the server had trouble understanding my accent (happens a lot) I gave her my best American accent of a la mode, which made her laugh. I googled why having ice cream on your pie is called a la mode, because apparently, USA is the only country that uses this term anymore. A la mode, literally translates to in the fashion. A strange term to describe ice cream on your pie. Anyway, I don't know why I got it, as I don't really like solid ice cream, I like it when it gets melty, or to be honest, I would rather have had heavy cream, but rarely does a restaurant or cafe offer that as an option, like you'd get in England. The pie came, it was huge, and there was a half gallon of ice cream on it. I gave it to husband, and he put it on top of his cheesecake, after scraping off the whipped cream, and giving that to me. This was whipped cream from a can I believe, as it's very aerated. The pie was pretty good and nicely spiced with cinnamon, which husband objected to. He said it had a little too much in, but I liked it. One of the strangest things about the menu - which is pretty extensive by the way, are the prices. There are no round numbers, and the cents are never the same either. I assume this is because of the sales tax? Like one thing might be $4.33, then something else will be $7.59 so that when they ring it up and add the sales tax, it comes out at a nice round number? Is that right? Anyway, no complaints, you can always get a seat, service is prompt and friendly, and there's great views from the window seats.
