Not a great first impression. Called in for a takeout order, they said it'd be 25 min. An hour later we finally had our food. I got the chicken fried rice, which was mostly rice with about 5 small pieces of chicken, and it was all completely bland. Hamburger Asian Fusion and no I'm not making that up. This place is a hidden little gem. Unassuming locale with pretty good food. The burgers are good and I always order the gyoza I had the special, a kimchi burger with a spicy mayo or aioli and bacon, very good. They have Tots! Cravings satisfied! My husband and I took a trip back to AK recently to visit family and a stop at BURGER JIM was a non negotiable Not to be dramatic but I miss their food already lol I waited 6 years to eat here again and it was worth the wait. The girly at the front was so sweet and the shop expanded quite a bit since our last visit - it looks great! If you've never been here before it is a MUST! They have a double menu serving Burgers and Chinese food. My go to is their house fries, it has Mongolian beef on it and it is just heavenly and my fave is their Big Philly burger. *chefs kiss* So happy they're still out here thriving! My husband and I were on a trip to Wasilla to visit friends and were excited to share this local spot, Burger Jim's. It's utterly amazing the options this one spot. Burgers, Chinese food, and more! For our meal, three of us got different burgers; one with a side of tatter tots, one with onion rings, and a starter of gyoza for the table . I ordered orange chicken with rice, because it was listed as a popular dish, and why not. It was pretty hard to pick something because there was a huge selection of food to choose from. The food was good and there was lots of seating. My BFF wanted to show off the art for sale, which was a variety of painted canvas of the Simpsons, and such. This is the sort of place that calls out our number after your order. A good spot to meet friends, plus this place supports local sport teams. We enjoyed our lunch and I'm sure we will return again. read more

With their infamous sign of I Love BJ's there is some pretty unique dishes here. Kimchi Burger was surprisingly delicious as well as the garlic burger. Restaurant was clean with plenty of seating and the staff were very friendly. Just a little hole in the wall burger joint but definitely worth checking out! read more

Our experience was horrible today and I'm sad to say that... we love burger Jim's and the food. However you need some new people working there we had ordered 2 burgers and 1 extra patty for our 9 month old and had a whole conversation with the guy when ordering about what patty we wanted he gave us the option of chicken or beef and we said beef and he literally went to write it down and then stopped and started on the calculator so I figured alright maybe he's the one doing that so it's good well after our burgers came out without our patty I wanted to make sure we had got the patty because her dad and I had seen that they didn't write it down like I said before so I sent him up there to check with them to make sure it wasn't missed (ideally I was hoping to eat together?) and he came back and they had said "yes and they were working on it"...cool no problem 10 minutes pass 15 20 minutes and then 30 and we are done with our food at this point have checked in 3 times... we walked by the counter once and there was even a guy that said THEIR WORKING ON IT AS HE WALKED BY US (without us saying anything) We waited ANOTHER 10 minutes and nothing but the guy that took our order and another guy standing literally face to face whispering...hmmm then I finally say something and what do you know the guy that took my order bolts to the back no where to be seen and the other guy comes up saying we have no order for a patty well that's odd you guys have been "working on it for 30 minutes" i NEVER complain and actually was shaking even saying anything but MY DAUGHTER NEEDS TO EAT TOO??!? I couldn't give her ours because they both had jalapeños on them hints why we kept checking on it yet now all the sudden there is no patty... I know this seems silly but they were almost laughing in my face about it I told him he didn't write it down the 2 guys that we had talked to about the patty and that took our order conveniently went to the back when I said something so I know that they just made a mistake somewhere but the way they all handled it was quite literally the opposite of what you do in customer service and my baby was all ready to eat in her highchair WAITING for that disappearing patty... still wondering what happened there we just did the math for everything and did not end up paying for the patty so that's good and all but the whole experience was horrible being told that they are working on it the whole time while my baby is hungry and we are sitting there eating just to be told in the end there is no patty so basically she's not getting nothing? alrighty then we won't be back. read more

Oof. Food is average to below average. At the prices we paid, it was a suboptimal value. Our burgers were overcooked and the kalbi was tough and greasy (which is a travesty considering how good it has been everywhere else we've had it). They had a brief power outage at the end of our visit that was emblematic of our time there but I'm certainly not holding that again them. Let's call it a 2 out of 5. I only had their plain ol' cheese burger because I didn't want chicken or onions or jalapeños or anything fancy. I don't particularly like the type of bun they use, super soft but it's almost like cakey instead of yeasty. Idk how to explain it. They also used shredded lettuce which just drops everywhere instead of being a part of the sandwich. There was almost no cheese like they grilled it all off instead of putting it on the last few minutes to let it barely melt. I liked that there were pickles. It would have been way better with 100% more cheese. We got one order of fries for 5$ and they are the battered ones which I loooooove. A handful of places have those kind of fries. Intrigued by the description of burger and Chinese food and pleasantly surprised! I don't give 5 stars often... So 4 is pretty good! Probably wouldn't drive all the way out here from Eagle River but if I'm in the area I'll definitely be by (although as I'm writing this a week later I'm still reminiscing about the rice...) We ordered Jim's burger and made it a special with fries and drink and a shrimp fried rice. Both portions are good sized and not expensive for what we got (I feel like that's a first for be in Alaska ). My partner said burger was good and juicy. Had a bunch of recommendations to try this place for a while..finally remembered to give it a shot. At first you're not quite sure what to expect, it's in an awkward location next to subway, to walk in to the place is different, and once you're in there..there's a good amount of people sitting on the side waiting for their order. This place is mainly for take-outs..there is no seating inside or out, unless your car counts? Anyways, everyone is very friendly as soon as you walk in and on top of it. We placed our order right away and decided to order from previous recommendations from yelpers reviews. The prices are very reasonable, I love finding gems with good deals!! We waited for about 15 minutes as we were told and got our food promptly. Everything worked out smoothly. Food is ridiculous. I've read the raves about it and was like..can't be that good!?!? It's that good!! The loaded house fries are...holy shyza! Super good. The sauces they use, I can't even explain it. The philly steak egg rolls were...the best philly steak egg rolls EVER!!! I ordered the Mongolian beef but I had to wait a bit because I over indulged and made myself full..anyways..when I had the strength to eat or at least try it..Amazing!! My husband ordered the Jims burger and the P-town burger. To sample both and get an idea..he said both were crazy good!!! We shared a Mongolian beef entree for dinner and ordered extra beef. There was plenty of food for two of us. However the sauce was way too sweet and they didn't have any hot sauce to spice things up. There were no real silver ware available or chop sticks. I will not order this again. read more

Friendly service. On the ball. Great advice for substitutions on the burgers. They suggested the Palmer Burger with pepper jack instead of blue cheese. It was an excellent suggestion. The burger itself had just the right proportion of ingredients. The right amount of mayo, bbq sauce, onion straws, and bacon. The burger itself was unremarkable, but certainly tasty. It didn't stick out from the rest of the ingredients but it was thoroughly cooked (no pink) which I appreciate. If the price seems high for a burger, keep in mind, it is a decent size. It completely fills the styrofoam container it comes in. Orders are quick and they call for you by name. The hot sauce on the condiment bar seems like a watery buffalo sauce. It has a good kick. Lots of unique burgers to try as well as chicken and rice dishes. They even have kalbi. Excited to try that out! read more

Burger Jim is one of the few places that works for our family full of diverse palate's. The Chinese style food is good but generally a little sweet for me. ( most places are) The house fried rice is always amazing, as are the house fries. The girls and I can get burgers and house fries, while the wife and boy can get Chinese. Plus they deliver all the way out to us with a small fee, that itself is a huge win. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have no real complaints. Pro tip- order your Mongolian beef with extra meat. It's totally worth the extra $3! And, get the P-town with an extra patty, Mayo, and no bbq sauce. It totally changes the whole experience. Finely, the jalapeños on the house fries are usually hot AF! So, ask for less or none of you don't like a little heat. read more
