This is truly a spicy burger!. I've been searching for a good one and luckily my boss recommended this place to me. The drive is always beautiful. The man who runs the place is friendly and talkative. It's a small unassuming shack on the side of the Old Glenn. He has a WIDE selection of burgers. These burgers shine! For $17 I got the biggest burger i have seen in a while. The hot sauce is made with habaneros, jalapeños and serrano peppers. Its not just spicy and truly has a ton of flavor. This would be an excellent place in the summer to eat as there's a little area with stools and picnic tables where you can take in the awesome view. There's something for everyone here. I like that you can get potato salad as a side instead of just fries or onion rings. He said that the spicy burger is the most popular and now I see why. I am going to be a regular here. Great value for excellent food!

This place is literally a shack with six or so barstool seats on the porch - otherwise it's takeout. They have a wide selection of different kinds of burgers. Their fries and burgers are good - not life-altering like many reviews would indicate. Prices are steep - like Five-Guys steep - but the burgers are large and filing. The staff (owners?) are super friendly.

Plenty of parking. Juicy burgers. Big portions and you really do get what you pay for. I like this place because the owner is so generous and will stay open for you if you call ahead. The lettuce in the burgers is always fresh, meat is cooked just right. The burger can barely fit in my hands I always have to cut it in half. This is definitely one of my regular spots.

Do not underestimate this roadside eatery. Driving past this spot you are probably thinking "who the hell is getting food from this shack!" I am here to inform you that you should absolutely be stopping here for a big, juicy burger. This spot formerly housed "Jim Creek Fatt Burger", and I am pleased to report the burgers are still great. New owner, new name, still some of the best burgers around. The menu has changed, and some of the more creative burgers are no longer available, but a lot of the staples are available still just under different menu names. My favorite is the flavorly, and my husband's is the good choice burger. If you want more spice to your burger ask them to add their house hot sauce. It is very tasty. I actually think that the burger patty was way better flavored than when I dined here under the previous owner. It was seasoned well, and extremely juicy. You still cannot select your temperature, but this patty did not taste over cooked and retained a lot flavor. I was impressed with this burger. You can also select different sides now, which also adds points in my book. You have the choice of fries, onion rings, potato salad, or cottage cheese. I always appreciate more selection. Wait times can sometimes be long as everything is made to order, and I do not think they are working with the largest kitchen in this roadside hut. Wait times can sometimes be around 45 minutes. I feel like since you aren't at a sit down restaurant you are more aware of the wait. One other change is that they are open 7 days a week, and are open earlier in the afternoon. More opportunities to eat is clearly a positive. The owner here is super friendly, and they are always very pleasant to order food from. Definitely head out to Palmer to get your burger fix!

    Best Patty Melt Ever.

First of all it was our pleasure to go to Buttes burger the food was great. The burgers at this little off the road stand with outdoor seating place fresh and flavorful. The service is by one outgoing hardworking guy working as fast as he can. It was a little slow but did not matter when you got your meal so worth it. It appeared to be the locals favorite place. The ambiance sitting out side and taking in the beautiful Alaska which is defiantly gods country. Such a great memory for us as we are tourist.

Came on a Weds in late summer around noon, was just me and another couple at first, then traffic picked up and was steady. It's easy to miss, I was glad for the picture to know what to look for and added another. This is an order at the window place, with some bar stools near the window and four picnic tables out front. All have great views of the mountains surrounding Butte. Plenty of parking all around the building. All burgers come with fries, onion rings, potato salad or cottage cheese. I went for the hot & spicy, which has a special sauce of jalapeños with some roasted habaneros to give it a kick. Nice and hot without being over the top. Swiss, American, blue or pepper jack cheese are options. There are veggie burgers, sandwiches and other options if you don't feel like a burger. VEGANS: If you call ahead you can get a vegan burger, just ask! (the veggie burger has cheese). The chef can even add French fries to the vegan burger, as they are cooked in vegetable oil. Add the veggie toppings - even onion rings - and you're all set. Prices go from $11 for plain burger to $17 for the fancy ones. The burgers are giant, you could easily split one if you want a smaller portion. Burger was well cooked and had everything you would want - fresh toppings, spongey bun and good sauce. I made the mistake of ordering cheese on top of the hot & spicy - don't do it, it makes it too much, competing with the bacon and other flavors, I scrapped it off after a few bites. Drink choices limited to sodas and water, so bring your own if you want something different. Ask for extra napkins as the big burgers can be messy! An excellent, easy stop if you're around Palmer or heading back to Anchorage from the west, only about 10 minutes from Route 1.

Huge burger with fresh ingredients! I especially like that they have so many layers of lettuce! The halibut is fresh and tender! Including the fries, everything is freshly made. Make sure you tip them really well because of the burger could probably be enough for the entire day's intake.

Ample parking, easy access, and the kind of brewery where you feel welcome whether you're a lifelong Alaskan or just passing through. Pro tip: Arrive with an appetite and an open mind. Get a sampler flight of the beers, ask the bartender what's new or seasonal, and don't hesitate to pair it with something from the kitchen--this one's worth the stop. All told: If craft beer is part of your travel plan (or if you simply want a great local spot for food & drink), Matanuska Brewing Company in Palmer should be high on your list. Cheers to that!

Mantanuska Brewery is the latest brewery I got to try for the first time and it was an enjoyable first time experience. Steve and I got one beer from this brewery on two separate occasions and I liked it both times. The Deep Powder Porter was the name of the beer we had. What I liked about this beer was that it was very smooth which made it an easy one to drink. There is a malty sweetness going on here with roasty, caramel and cocoa flavors. Untappd had the beet as a feature with this beer as "brilliant " and I can see that going on with this porter but I might call it "alive" as this porter wasn't a dull one at all to drink but instead it was a fun one.

Lots of booths and tables, quite a big dining room. It's not fancy. But it's always busy. It's very affordable. We often used to come for just a piece of pie, and they had a delicious blueberry pie, which unfortunately wasn't offered the other night when I was there. I don't care too much for banana cream this or chocolate chess that - they're just too sweet for me, I'm not that much of a dessert person. I was sort of hoping they might have pumpkin pie, as it's almost that time but they didn't have any. I try to have it at least once or twice in fall. I went for the least offensive option which in this case was apple pie. I went for a la mode, and as the server had trouble understanding my accent (happens a lot) I gave her my best American accent of a la mode, which made her laugh. I googled why having ice cream on your pie is called a la mode, because apparently, USA is the only country that uses this term anymore. A la mode, literally translates to in the fashion. A strange term to describe ice cream on your pie. Anyway, I don't know why I got it, as I don't really like solid ice cream, I like it when it gets melty, or to be honest, I would rather have had heavy cream, but rarely does a restaurant or cafe offer that as an option, like you'd get in England. The pie came, it was huge, and there was a half gallon of ice cream on it. I gave it to husband, and he put it on top of his cheesecake, after scraping off the whipped cream, and giving that to me. This was whipped cream from a can I believe, as it's very aerated. The pie was pretty good and nicely spiced with cinnamon, which husband objected to. He said it had a little too much in, but I liked it. One of the strangest things about the menu - which is pretty extensive by the way, are the prices. There are no round numbers, and the cents are never the same either. I assume this is because of the sales tax? Like one thing might be $4.33, then something else will be $7.59 so that when they ring it up and add the sales tax, it comes out at a nice round number? Is that right? Anyway, no complaints, you can always get a seat, service is prompt and friendly, and there's great views from the window seats.
