Food was decent, but wait times and service left too much to be desired. 50 min wait for a table on a Sunday seems reasonable, but the anticipated wait time could have been better than a 30 minute window of 30-60 minutes. After getting seated after 50 mins I made the mistake of not saying we had to leave within 45 mins. We didn't think a diner and making an omelette would take 40 minutes, plus we trusted our our server when she said our food should be right out. Unfortunately I had to ask where our food was after 10 minutes and it took another 10 for them to bring it out. All that to say, our food wasn't even being cooked by the time we were told it would almost be out. This was hands down the best chicken fried chicken I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked- chicken was still juicy and the breading was perfect. The gravy was also delicious... can you tell I loved it?? The hash browns were very yummy. The service was 10/10. After a camping trip in Alaska, we packed up our campsite and made a beeline for breakfast at this incredible restaurant Not sure if it's because I'm naturally indoors-y and it was my sweet relief after an uncharacteristically rugged weekend, but this is one of the very best meals I've had in my life. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it far far exceeded my expectations and perhaps has the spot as my ideal breakfast The chicken fried chicken was a generous portion of chicken, topped with gravy, served with eggs, cooked your way and aside, I chose French toast. Great for breakfast or brunch with all the "normal" diner options (and I'm a huge fan of diners!). We had a great variety and all was great. We arrived at 2 PM, place was full. Had to wait @ 30 minutes for table for 6. When we arrived, And as we were being seated, it was stressed that they closed at 3. While we were eating (in a still full room), waitresses were refilling condiments and doing closing chores. We received several glares, attempts to remove plates with food still on them - which we were still eating and reluctance to refilling drinks. As a place to dine, in general I would recommend, but a little training in customer service might be in order. Being made to feel rushed and unwelcome is not conducive to repeat customers. read more

In Alaska I would venture to say the Diner to person ration is 2:1. That said, when you stand out as one of the best, it really says something about your establishment! I previously rated this restaurant and I was off on that review. We've eaten here several times since and they're always on point, from the food to the service and overall busyness of this place. They're beyond consistent and I would wager to say they're near perfect when it comes to breakfast eats! Nothing over the top or trendy just good ol' fashion diner breakfast. My wife chose this restaurant as the one place in the area she wanted me to take her on Valentines Day 2024. It was an excellent choice and one that I was also considering. They featured a Valentines Day Special of Prime Rib prepared to your choice with Au Jus Sauce, baked potatoes, onions, Carrots, baby Brussel sprouts and Red Potatoes. A slice of garlic toast completed the Special. I had coffee as my drink. As always the food was delicious and flavorful. Well prepared and generous. The Prime Rib was tender and juicy with the accompanying Au Jus sauce tasty and not salty. The roasted vegetables were flavored with spices an olive oil. The garlic toast was warm and buttery. However the Cheesecake was so delicious that this maybe my last review as I swear I died and went to heaven. The cheesecake w as a creamy and flavored with chocolate and strawberry with fresh strawberries on top with a dark chocolate cookie crust. One of the best I have ever tasted and equal to a Five Star Dessert. My wife had a chocolate pecan cheesecake that she allowed me to taste. We both agreed it equal to mine and as well prepared and tasty. All desserts, pastries, and Soups are prepared in house. My Ham & Bean Soup was a bowl portion servers warm and thick. It had smalls pieces ham, carrots and onions. It had been simmered until most of the beans to a thick soup with some soft beans still intact. I've eaten at NGC on and off since my freshman year of high school. I would probably visit more if I weren't living in Anchorage! I've always had great meals here, breakfast being my fave! Recently we popped in after a blustery day at the reindeer farm. We wanted some hot food and warmth and I knew NGC would be perfect. This place is always busy. I've always managed to land it with little wait as they are quick. The Parking lot is good size so plenty of room. I have a weird parking lot anxiety, but I have found others do too. This is the place to eat in Palmer. I have never been disappointed with anything served here. Breakfast anytime during the day is always a plus. Sunday (yesterday) we went in the early afternoon after the lunch rush. My wife had eggs Benedict and I had their version of a sausage gravy Benedict. Both were great. The coffee was very good.
