The restaurant was slow so we got seated immediately and our food took 7 mins till it was at our table. The restaurant was clean, our waitress was kind, the chicken was hot n spicy, hot in temperature, and bonus points for playing classic rock, 10/10 for their Szechuan chicken, no other Chinese restaurant in town makes it like them. I've ordered from here for years. Last night I ordered chicken chow mein, one of my favorites. When I got my food home, I opened up the container and saw that the main course, I was very disappointed. The chow mein barely took up half of the large side of the to go container and the steamed rice was on the other side. It used to be they filled it and gave you your steamed rice in a separate container. The flavor was very good as usual but I'm very disappointed with the amount of food for our money. We also ordered a combination meal and there was more in each main entree than the chow mein that was supposed to be a full meal. I called to let them know and I believe I got the owner who seemed very nonchalant about it. I'm sad to say I won't be going back. read more

The chicken in both my meal and my date's meal was undercooked. When I informed the older lady working there, she tried to explain that Chinese chicken is cooked differently. However, I know what properly cooked chicken looks like, regardless of the cuisine. She still charged us and insisted the chicken was fine. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and now I understand why. The tablecloths were also dirty, as if they hadn't been changed in a while. Enjoyed lunch today at this restaurant. The service was Top Notch and the ambience old school Chinese restaurant. They're egg drop soup was unappealing. The fried rice was right on. I had the General Tso Chicken and wife had Chicken Chow Mein/Sweet Sour Chicken. Both meals were fresh off the wok and the presentation was great. The taste was pretty good and the sauces were tasty. Wife said that the Chicken Chow Mein was a bit salty but I didn't think so. I give this place 3.7/5 for the presentation, customer service, and like I said the food was served hot. However, if you look closer to the ingredients they use in the fried rice and soup you will notice the low quality. Chicken they used for the sweet sour and general Tso is similar just different sauce. The chicken bits (if you pay close attention) has more breading than actual chicken - precooked and frozen. If you ever had Good quality Chinese food then you'll see that they use real chicken cutlets. read more

So my first review I had just started working here. After a short 3 months I ended up quitting and this is why. The chef has been there at northern China since he was 20. Hes now 42 years old. The new owners came in about 2-1/2 years ago. They're Korean. Well not only were they embezzling my money and paying in an unethical way but then had the nerve to had their hired CPA cover up their tracks.. Lastly, they don't know up from down when it comes to the food yet they tell the chef and everyone what to do just because they are indeed the owners... well how the hell are you going to tell me or the chef what to do. The chef runs the kitchen. You're the owner. You run the business side of the restaurant so just shut your mouth. If the customer is not complaining. Why tf are you complaining. Again it became very unethical and I really hope their karma is coming. A little bit about the embezzling. My gross pay was just over $1000 every two weeks. So how the hell am I only getting $545ish every two weeks.... when I called the owner out on it my check was finally about $845. On top of that on Christmas Day I was working. I gave out $55 in change out of my own pocket. There was 2 credit card tips that I accounted for. Plus many more but two in particular. One a $12 tip the other a $15 tip. I go into work on the 26th of dec just to find the lady only gave me back $72 LMAO. I LOST IT. I ended up quitting because the male owner Moon Hwang got mad at me for soaking three sticky stainless steel trays in dish soap while I was about to wash the other trays that only needed scrubbed then rinsed off and sanitized. He said "YOU NO NEED NO MEDICINE" just trying to pick a fight just to say something. So I said fine you do the dishes I'll go home. The next day I go to work his wife talks for him. His wife is ALWAYS talking for him. The guy has no balls. Anyway they cut my hours to 3 days a week 2 hours a day. Because it was slow and I called them out earlier that week about my pay not being right. Then he legitimately got mad at me for using dish soap lmao. Later on I went to visit the restaurant to see the chef since he's now my good friend and the owner Moon Hwang tried to hold me at knife point haha to get me out of the kitchen since I went in through the back door. Told the guy he's about to get knocked tf out haha. Yeah. If anything support the head chef Phouthamaly Phiachantharath and his helper Keo. The owner Moon Hwang and his wife Yung Hwang oh and the server Choi. Kinda a bigger lady that always wears lip liner. Yeah she kisses their ass and they all are a great team(: but in reality. Without Pou and his knowledge of the food. The restaurant wouldn't stay afloat. The wife don't know how to cook and the husband barely knows. Even tho he has a recipe book he still doesn't know what half of his own handwriting actually means lmao. The owners are trash. If anyone reads this and goes to the restaurant. I was the white boy working there. (: I'm being honest. As honest as the work I put into their restaurant all outta the love from my heart. But they crossed the line with me and like I said. Disgusting!!!!! Who even had the nerve to put this take out menu in my junk drawer?!!! I ordered Fried Won Tons (They tasted like a combination of a stale wheat thin and what I imagine Gym socks taste like), General Tso Chicken medium spicy (AKA old fried chicken soaked in sugar sauce with some red pepper flakes) and Pork Low Mein (which apparently has been marinating in a mop bucket for the last 5 years). I put a small amount on my plate, took one bite of each, literally almost vomited and closed the lids of all three containers. Called to let them know that this is disgusting and I am not eating it - They suggested I bring it back to them. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in town! The customer service is excellent, they are very friendly. I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food and these guys know what they are doing. The Mongolian beef and sesame chicken are my absolute favorites. The chicken is crispy and full of flavor. The beef is easy to chew and full of flavor as well. Their crab Rangoons are absolutely delicious and so are the egg rolls and fried rice. This is the only Chinese restaurant in town that I will even go to because in my opinion, they are the best and they are friendly. The food was tasty and decent sized portions. If you're a fried rice person it was more of a yellow versus brown rice. Can of sprite cost $2.00 and no refills. Place was clean and the waitress was polite and attentive. The ladies room had a bar of soap that was stuck to the soap holder so that was kinda weird and gross. Prefer pump soap in a public place. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and friend ordered Mongolian Beef and Szechuan Chicken. Pictures provided. Mine looks darker cause of no flash. The chicken dishes were exactly the same. Okay so it had to be -50 below zero for this transplanted Alaskan or as my older brother lovingly refers to me "for this Californian Wimp". But I had a craving for some chow mien and I was hung-greee if you catch my meaning. I was driving around (no I didn't "yelp it" which I will going forward) trying to find an Asian restaurant or at least a restaurant that served Asian food (yeah okay that was lame, even I admit that) when I came across Northern China Restaurant. I was a bit concerned when I saw the price, I'm used to California pricing and BELIEVE ME there is a $difference$ however there was no difference in the taste of the food, the kindness of the owners and the speed of the service! I also appreciated how they had signs proclaiming the Word of Christ and the Spiritual Laws of God in their restaurant. These people were Christians who acted like Christians and made me feel welcome. Their chow mien was good and I believe you would like it also so please give them a try! read more

The food is good. It's great. Their pricing and charges are ridiculous. I called and asked specifically for the lunch special. Which is cheaper than the dinner menu. Got charged $48 for two orders of their Mongolian beef which is 14.99. Equaling to $29.98. This isn't the first time that they've sharked me or my relatives. They told me that it's because of the fried rice, but the lunch special comes with the fried rice- no extra charge. read more

Tried this place because of reviews and the menu. Ordered delivery, 35-40 minutes Prices have went up and I don't think the portioning and the cooking-style is worth the price. Ordered 2 combo plates H & K Sesame chicken plate, shrimp lo mein, house fried rice, and 4 egg rolls paid $82 total. Did not like how they placed food in plates for combos. I was excited because of the variety on the menu but lot of it isn't what you'd expect. I especially was disappointed that the wonton pieces are just the wrapper with nothing in it, egg rolls are half the size of the average you would get else where and it was stuffed with only cabbage. Fried rice wasn't tasty at all, sweet & sour chicken & pork combo was very lacking in taste and the sauce was just plopped on there with uncooked veggies and onions.
