Hidden gem! Came right after work with hubs. Great and delicious authentic Chinese food! The dim sum was perfect! Reasonable prices for the quality of the dishes. Service was prompt and friendly. We sat ourselves in one of the booths and were greeted with waters and menus quickly. My only criticism was the wait for the food however.. took perhaps 40+ minutes for the main entrees to come out-- but hey! It was worth it. So I recommend ordering appetizers/dim sum as they come out quicker. The menu is big and I wish I had a larger appetite today to try out more. Everything we ordered was fragrant (chinese 5 spices notable in the dragon meets phoenix) and flavorful! Equal amount of chicken to shrimp and veggies in a savory sauce. Hubs ordered the braised duck. The Dim Sum was inhaled-- i suggest ordering the xiao long bao with piping hot soup inside! Oh! And the ladies room? Clean and-- hello smart bidet! What a plus. Coming back with more of the family for sure and ordering a cake too!

Wow! We've been sleeping on Shanghai Tea Garden. Ordered spicy wonton, xiao long bao, sesame chicken, and Mongolian beef. The spicy wonton was crispy garlicky chili goodness, best eaten with a spoon, and keep the sauce to add to rice, other dim sum, anything really. The xiao long bao was a soup dumpling - careful not to burn your mouth and let it cool a few minutes - or use the spoon technique and puncture with your chopsticks. Speaking of, the chopsticks are terrible, aka garbage sticks - bring your own. Sesame chicken was incredible, you could tell hand breaded and juicy perfectly fried goodness and the delicious sauce you know and love. Mongolian beef was good, not too sweet with a mild hint of curry. Thai tea was not good, too much milk and not enough tea. Maybe a fluke. Service was on point, no complaints. Funny there were two huge tables of Southern China Air staff directly imported for dinner! Will be back! So many other things on the menu I want to try.

I was really looking forward to trying this place, ordered a variety of things to go. Order took nearly an hour and it was underwhelming. None of the dishes tasted like they were seasoned, even the dipping sauce for the egg rolls had no flavor lol

We came on a Friday night at around 6:15. There were five of us. Seat yourself, with only a three booths and 4 tables. There was only 1 server and not sure how many people in the kitchen maybe two. We ordered a couple entrees and three apps. They come out as sharing plates so you could just order one entree for two people really. The chicken was pounded and breaded on some kind of tempura flake. More of a Japanese style of cooking it but it kinda makes the chicken tough and hard to eat especially with the pieces being so big. Not a lot of sauce for the sweet and sour. We waited an hour for all of our food to come. The apps did come out a few minutes before all the entrees. Every table except one of the big ones had people and we did order a lot of food. Also in the restaurant they had a case that they serve baked goods but they didn't have any then. They also sell a few knick knack Japanese type items like chopsticks, candy, other random things. Food was decent I wouldn't get the chicken again but maybe try the chow mein if we were to come back.

    Basil Chicken! This is awesome!

We really enjoyed our meal! Everything we ordered had great flavor and presentation and was so reasonably priced. We're going to be back!

It's just a cute place to vibe at and be around the community. There is a coffee shop, plant shop, juice shop and small market in the same building which makes it worth the stop. The seasonal ginger bread chia tea from the coffee shop is like Christmas in your mouth. The turkey sandwich is like thanksgiving with cranberry sauce and pecans. The sweet potato burban cupcake was actually to die for. The cake was moist with a carm filling of pecans and bourbon topped with a light cream cheese frosting. I'm never disappointed with fire island. A jem in anchorage.

The sausage was good though, and a bit salty, which might have balanced the seasoning in this item but the chunks were too few and big to be balanced. - messy egg salad sandwich: a lot of dill, heavy on the pickled flavor, and good red onion crunch. This was just ok. It looked better than it tasted, unless you're a fan of dill. Mainly got this sandwich to try their bread but the bread was an afterthought. - maple rhubarb muffin: hard pass. Can't taste the rhubarb and barely any maple. The bottom also was more burnt than anything. It seems they may have over mixed their batter, muffin didn't have a tender crumb.

I was right, as I walked in they sold the very last thing of what I wanted. But gosh am I glad- it forced me to try something new. I didnt take a picture because it was so cold out and my hands were frozen, but it was a beautiful, elongated bakery treat. It had lovely purple Ube cream and touch of oreo crumbs on top, the base was essential much like a flat cruller, but if higher quality. It was sensational! I bought my husband something that looked lower carb that had coffee cream that also enjoyed. I got my husband custom cold jasmine sugar free tea, and I got a frosty honeydew melon drink. It was a little spendy, but its nice to have a treat one on a while.

It's like a croissant baked in a waffle form, but a bit denser than a regular croissant. What really made it special was the Ube cream -- a light, buttery frosting that wasn't too sweet. Easily a 10/10 for me. I also ordered the Ube Cruffin, which had that same croissant-like texture in a muffin shape. The inside had a light cream filling, and the top was covered with the same Ube cream. It was good, but not quite as amazing as the Croffle -- 7/10. The Ham Banh Mi was tasty and filling (6/10), and the Boba Milk Tea was decent too (6/10). Oh and I got to taste their smoked salmon chowder that my friend ordered. Very good flavor, body, and richness (8/10). Everything I had was good but nothing that was as memorable as the Ube Croffle, but it wasn't cheap -- I spent a total $32 for a sandwich, drink and 2 pastries. Then again, prices in Alaska tend to be higher in general. Overall, even though I've only been once, I'd definitely come back for that Ube Croffle -- it was the real highlight!

I've bought gifts, coffees, teas, cupcakes, cookies, cannolis, various treats and ordered birthday cakes. I think I have a pretty good idea of the norm. I've always had good service and they've always had a nice selection of locally made crafts in the shop. They are my favorite bakery, despite being very inconsistent in their quality. Why are they my favorite? Because there simply isn't anyone better. Most of their recipes are really tasty, but sometimes (like today) they're super dry because they serve things that have been apparently left out too long and/or baked a touch too long. The last time I custom ordered a cake, there was a hair in it. And for the price I paid, I was shocked at how small it was. This seems to be the norm in Alaska. Owning a bakery must have high overhead. Overall, I do support cAKe, given that I've heard absolute HORROR stories about cake orders gone wrong from other places in town,, especially for weddings and other large events, I'll stick with the devil I know.

Each tart had its own unique flavor, perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which made it way too easy to keep reaching for another. The chocolate raspberry cake was a standout--rich, moist, and layered with just the right amount of tartness from the raspberry filling. What really surprised me was how satisfying everything tasted without feeling heavy or overly sweetened--and even better, it didn't spike my blood sugar the way most desserts do. You can tell there's intention behind the ingredients and how everything is made. They also have plenty of other baked goods like cookies, brownies, and more, so there's definitely something for everyone. It looked like a fritter but it's topped with a dollop of cream cheese frosting so maybe it's some kind of cinnamon roll. It wasn't labeled so I'm not sure.
