The perfect place to wonder into for a quick but tasty lunch! Fast service, kind staff members always willing to make a recommendation, and wonderful food make this my preferred lunch spot. Both the Popper Sandwich and Pickle lunch have been fantastic and I hope to try their breakfast menu next! This busy and energetic cafe is perfect for folks working, studying, or having a lunch meeting. The fast service makes takeout great for those going back to the office.

Cool café and friendly/patient first cashier, ordered a sandwich as a wrap instead of bread and was charged $1 extra for the tortilla and upcharge was not annotated on the menu behind the cashier on the wall but supposedly it was on the handheld menus; second cashier unhappily changed the price back to $16 for a wrap and chips, then turned off the fireplace infront of me without saying a word .... coincidence‽

    Cute coffeehouse cafe

The Wandering Cafe in Wasilla is so cute and festive for the holidays. We stopped in for a bagel and coffee-it was simply delicious! Such a cozy feeling inside this little house converted to a charming coffeehouse. A must stop when visiting Wasilla

What a delight! We sort of stumbled upon this place while looking for a quick spot for lunch on our drive from Talkeetna to Anchorage. I'm so glad I stopped! The place is super cute and the staff was so friendly! I tried the summer salad and it was delicious! Highly recommend. My husband got one of the turkey sandwiches and he loved his as well. We shared the soup of the day and it was so yummy. It's a little unassuming, but so cute inside. I loved it.

Lunch special I have. So good!

I got a lovely lunch from Sherrie's Valley Cafe in Wasilla. It's a small cafe located inside a medical office building. They use Boar's Head deli meats in their sandwiches, and also serve salads, snacks & soup. This location used to be known as the breadcrumb whose owner moved to a distant location. I ordered the "Optimus Prime" which included roast beef, pepper jack cheese, horseradish, bell peppers, red onion & jalapeños. There were quite a few sides to choose from & I went with the Mac salad. The other options were chips, potato salad & pasta salad or soup for an up charge. Since the soup of the day was loaded baked potato I ordered a cup of it as well. If you're looking for a quick service lunch spot in the valley then you should check out Sherrie's cafe. It was a delicious & comforting lunch. Seating is very limited, but available counter style! They don't have an insta, but regularly post to Facebook. Sherrie is a sweetheart and customer service was excellent!

As expected, the restaurant was crowded. After thirty minutes, it was hard to find an available table. Food is ordered at a counter, then a waiter takes it to the table. Portions were large. Fried rice tasted just right. It was piled high and I special ordered it without peas. It was prepared correctly. Five stars! Pot stickers were good. 4 stars. My wife had beef chow fun and that was five stars and the portion was large. Self serve soft drinks are available with unlimited refills. Strongly recommend this for anyone who likes good Chinese food. Our bill with tip was over $60. No sales tax in Anchorage.

Genuinely not sure how to rate this place. It was absolutely an unexpected find in a place I did…read morenot expect a Chinese bakery, let alone dim sum. For clarity: this rating is off the dim sum and dim sum-type dishes alone. Did not try the baked goods (aside from dan tat) or the rice plates/noodle plates, which seem to make up most of the menu. And the dim sum is... hit or miss. The bok choy is a generous portion, properly cooked, not the most interesting, but not bad. Spicy shrimp won tons are on the small side but tasty, although lacking in the umami that their better-known competitors (especially starting with a "D") begin with. Shu mai (shrimp or chicken, I got shrimp) were the most average/solid of the bunch, which to be fair, is entirely adequate. Har gow looked very pretty, but the skins were too thick, both skins and filling decidedly missing in flavor. The bean curd wrap was giant, super-sized vs. what you'd normally see, and while the bean curd wrap was on-point, the pork filling was pretty plain. This extended to the lo mai gai (sticky rice), which was ENORMOUS, like triple the size of what you'd see at normal dim sum, and similarly plain filling. To their credit, the quality of the stick rice itself was quite good, and the amount of filling was ample. Finally, the dan tat. Crust was a bit too crumbly and lacking in richness of the better ones, and the filling was oddly wrinkled, like it'd cooled too fast. However, the filling quality was good enough. They were busy when I walked in for dinner and were completely full a few minutes later, so much kudos to them-- they clearly are appreciated by the community, and it shows. Some diners at the table next to mine got the usual rice/noodle plates and many left quite full, so portions are good. Kitchen, as busy as they are, is both fast enough and a bit uneven. Short version: you're in Alaska, you can't expect what you get in 415 or 626. However, don't get too carried away either.

I'd been wanting to go here for the longest time, having seen someone having an afternoon tea through the window. Finally today, we decided to go. I was sure they did lunch items, but couldn't find a menu anywhere. The server apologized and handed me a menu, and pointed out the soup specials. Husband selected the loaded baked potato soup, and I chose the curried egg salad sandwich. He got an Americano (because there was no drip available) and I requested English Breakfast Tea, noticing that they had big black tubs of teas around the shelves. I requested skim milk (it wasn't available) and had to settle for whole milk. At this stage I'll point out that I am 100% English, I moved here in 2012, and it's difficult to get a good strong cup of English Breakfast Tea in town (The Perfect Cup was a noticeable exception to this, and were indeed the perfect cup of strong English black tea) but I had high hopes for somewhere called a Tea Lounge. His coffee was served quickly, but I waited a while for my tea. It arrived with the milk already in it, and had virtually no colour at all, so I could instantly tell, it wasn't strong enough. I took a sip, couldn't taste any tea, and I took it to the counter and asked for an extra tea bag. 2 of the counter staff seemed to need to deal with this issue, and kept my mug of tea behind the counter, and I was sent to the cashier to pay $5 for a brand new cup to be made. I'm quite outraged by this. I had already paid for the tea, my tea was made wrong, I was happy to pay to add an extra tea bag, or leaves to the cup I already had, or have them remake it to my liking, but I am aghast to have to pay twice for one mug of tea. After another wait, the tea was brought to the table - no milk, so I asked for milk. A jug of milk was brought, but no spoon to stir with. Again, this was weak tea. I have tea bags sent to me from home, I make it for myself every morning. This was weak tea. I had asked them to make the second mug STRONG. Am I not making myself clear? Anyway, the dining room was mostly empty, a reserved table's customers came in, and there was a guy sitting in a corner space. We had to wait an interminably long time, for a bowl of soup and cold sandwich requiring no cooking. The server brought the soup out 1st, soup splashed all over the plate. It was a nice big bowl. However, the potatoes in this soup are not baked potatoes, they're boiled. The bacon has not been cooked prior to putting it in the soup. And every other time I've had loaded baked potato soup, it's got a creamy broth. This is a runny broth. I love loaded baked potato soup, but that didn't look appealing to me at all. My egg salad sandwich followed, I was even more disappointed by this I think. I believe this egg salad is prepared in a food processor, as there are no discernible pieces of egg, it's kind of like a spread if you will, and a very thin one. A smear on one side of the bread. However if you love arugula, and tomatoes, you'd like this sandwich, because they are violently, aggressively abundant with it, to the point that I could not taste any curried egg salad whatsoever. I'll stick to making my own, at home, I shred the egg in a grater so there aren't big chunks of egg, but it still has the egg salad flavour. This was bland. Like I say, all I could taste was arugula. Best thing about this - the potato chips were fresh. I do feel VERY disappointed and let down by my experience today. It was an expensive lunch, an even more expensive mug of mediocre tea, which is ludicrous in a place calling themselves a Tea Lounge. I won't be revisiting, no matter how pretty the space.

I came here for high tea which was something new, so I had no point of reference on what to expect. Overall, I'd give it a B. The food items were good and presented in an attractive way, and I felt very ladylike eating such dainty little treats! Plenty enough for two people, I even took some home. An entire small pot of tea plus a free re-steeping is included in the cost of your ticket. Price wise, I would say everything was more than reasonable for Anchorage. My only complaint, and I'm not sure I would even call it that? is that our server seemed a little unfamiliar with the operation. In her own world a lot. Ended up cashing ourselves out at the front which was probably preferred anyway I'm sure I will be back.
