Where do I even begin--the food, the staff, the location? All three were absolutely perfect for us! We ended up going three times in just two days, and every visit was a hit. Between the rich chai, the flavorful BLT, my son's Ziggy panini, the triple berry dessert with ice cream, and my other son's simple yet satisfying toast and bacon--everything was delicious and clearly made with care. The staff were genuinely invested in what they do, and it showed in both their service and the quality of the food. The ambiance - open air, picnic tables, - and more make this a great, inclusive, welcoming cafe! Turns out after talking to the ladies working one of them was a student in my college friend's class way back when. Hands down this is the place to go eat! Oh, i'd be remiss if I didn't mention my one complaint: they don't have a location in Seattle.

Got to meet 2 sister retired sled dogs, cashew and peanut! Sweet girls!

Had milk shakes, breakfast sandwiches and got to meet some retired sled dogs! Such a great stop to stretch your legs and get a drink or snack. A must stop!

Such a cute local Cafe. Service was amazing! Super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We got there a little after they opened so it was just us. They gave us plenty of time to order and were so helpful explaining things, allowing us to see some of their cake and dessert options, and even wiping down the grill for us since we're vegetarian. The cashier even gave us a bunch of great local recommendations of where to go for sight seeing! Sitting in the back waiting for our food, the aromas of our food being freshly made was wonderful. Other patrons arrived with their dogs and kids. Family friendly place. The food was pretty affordable comparatively speaking and had lots of vegetarian options! Plus we got to see cute Husky dogs. Definitely recommend stopping at this local gem!

Biscuits and gravy were amazing. Employees were extremely friendly and service was excellent. I'll need to make this stop a regular thing.

CASH ONLY! All things being relevant this place is a surprise for its location. I had the daily…read morespecial which today (Monday) was the Bahn Mi pork sandwich. A surprise of soft French bread was still delicious but not your traditional crispy bread. I think I actually preferred the bread here as it held the flavors well and made eating it less of a mess. The mint was a nice touch along with the traditional cucumber and daikon but I was missing some of the heat of there jalapeños normally included. If this had been I. A larger market like Denver, LA, Chicago ,etc... I would have given it 4 stars. Governed are 100 miles north of Anchorage with not many choices I gave it five stars because who could have expected a Bahn mi worth eating for $17 in this location. Again price being relatively reasonable for this area options so it's pretty good for the price For dessert I had the Blueberry Rhubarb crisp. Tasty and $7 was fine for this location. Service was friendly but took about 12-15 minutes for the sandwich, the dessert they gave us right away. Remember to bring cash as that is the only option they offer for payment!

We ordered and sat at a table, with the bread being ready in 5 minutes. For what you get, it's pricey. But the bread itself is great - as others have said, it's cheesy, garlicky, spinachy, and puffy. YUM.

Trivia: What's the AK in cAKe stand for?…read more Hodgepodge of merchandise. Aprons, journals, coasters, and paintings. Even fancy flasks for, you know Very clean and bright. The merchandise is well organized. The desserts are less organized and some, un-labeled. Maybe on purpose so the customer asks about them? "Oh, what is that?!" Which might be okay if the staff was a little more helpful. See below. I've found that the desserts, while very pretty, unique, and decorative, taste more bland than I expect them to. I guess I just expect more pop in flavor. I've picked up dessert, or eaten in three total times. The first time in was a chocolate cupcake that was rather bland. Then it was a bourbon tart that was sort of crunchy, sort of soft, and lacking any bourbon flavor. I found myself worried I'd chip a tooth because some bites were "caramel hardened" hard and others sort of soft. The third was a piece of coconut cake that was spot on, moist, and so tasty. Meanwhile, service was also just okay. Just sort of apathetic? Maybe attempting to not be overbearing? No suggestions. Limited descriptions of unmarked desserts when prompted about them. Also, it would be nice if they had decaf espresso. I've always stopped by in the evening and coffee sounds great with the desserts. But not at the expense of being stuck up late.

On my visit I decided on the oatmeal raisin cookies and the carrot cake, two of my favorites. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The cookies a perfect combination of oats, raisins and crunch. The carrot cake firm yet soft and moist and the perfect amount of cream cheese icing. I've tried a few cake shops in the Anchorage metro area but this one blows them all away.
