My wife had to ask for salt for her fish and the shaker was empty. Ordered chocolate cake for desert and an espresso, which was delivered to the table with no milk or sugar. We always hold off making a reservation here as it seems really expensive, but it was my birthday and I wanted to finally try it. We had the Saturday Tapas Brunch. The place really looked fancy, the floor to ceiling windows really gives a cooler ambiance and magnificent view of the Potomac River. The brunch cost $65/person plus tax and tip. Honestly, at first glance I would say expensive but with the food choices and drinks (mimosa, bellinis, juice, coffee) included, I am not gonna complain. I came here for my birthday a few weeks ago and was very much enjoying the food! I got the filet mignon and my boyfriend got the chicken and shrimp. I would definitely say the prices were over priced... I think you're probably paying extra for the nice view. Anyways, parents weekend came up and I wanted to take my parents here for a nice lunch! The lunch menu is quite limited, but there seemed to be some yummy flat breads, sandwiches, and salads. I will say that $20 for a burger is absurd. The worst part is that we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food to come out. AND it was all cold. The burger was so cold that I thought they forgot to cook it! And the bisque we ordered was Luke warm. And the flatbread was also cold. Luckily, my steak came out warm, but for goodness sake! Our entire meal was basically cold. Now let's talk about the awful service. Our waiter was very inattentive. He maybe spoke.. 5 words to us? He didn't check up to make sure we wanted more drinks. And boy were we thirsty after waiting for so long. He also gave us a pathetic, "sorry" after we asked the hostess to take back our cold meals. There was another server who decided to take care of us in the end. He grabbed our check, to go boxes, and finished grabbing us whatever else we needed because our original server did not seem to care about our well being. The check came out and we got a nice bill of over $116 without any discount. At one point, the manager did come over and told us she would take off a percentage from the cold meals we sent back. She was very kind and understanding. We appreciated that she was actually caring enough to come assist. I spoke more with the second server and the manager than we did with our actual waiter. Don't get me wrong, I can understand that it was busy. And currently, the restaurant industry is suffering because there is a lack of people willing to work. But this whole experience was unacceptable. We felt extremely neglected and overall spent almost two hours at the restaurant. And most of the time was not pleasurable. I've been a server at another restaurant for a bit so I can understand how it can be tough when you have lots of tables and you're overwhelmed. But this went to a whole new extreme. I was disappointed and felt bad that I took my parents somewhere that made them feel angry and exhausted with the customer service. I don't think we will ever go here again. And I always try and leave a good tip (usually 25%), but I hate to say that our server deserved nothing over 10%. The only reason this restaurant gets two stars is because of the nice server, the kind manager, and the pretty view of the water. Came to this beautiful location by the water for Saturday Brunch and it was amazing! Upon entry, we had to present proof of COVID vaccination (they will accept pictures) and ID. We were seated promptly at a round table top with beautiful views. The Saturday Brunch is all you can eat and all you can drink for $64.99 plus tax and gratuity. Which was well worth it! We tried everything on the menu from the raw oysters to the chicken and waffles. The peel and eat shrimp were jumbo and seasoned to the T. The smoked salmon avocado toast and the short rib and grits were also delicious and my favorites! We tried the seasonal blueberry mimosas and finished off with a cup of coffee. Sequoia was okay. Myself and 5 friends came here on a Sunday evening, around 5:30 PM, to celebrate one of my friends' birthday. Overall, our experience was pleasant. The restaurant is fairly large, however, it was pretty empty, with only about 6 tables being seated inside. Our server was pleasant, he seemed knowledge of the menu and was super sweet to our party. We saw other tables receive complimentary bread, however our table did not and I'm not sure as to why. Now to the food. The food is the reason why I only gave this restaurant 3-stars. For an appetizer, I split the calamari with one of the of my friends. I'm glad I didn't have to eat it all by myself because I was not a fan of it. It was too heavily breaded for my liking. For my entree, I ordered the Angus New York Strip. The steak lacked flavor and taste and honestly, was no better than a steak I could get at Outback or Texas Roadhouse. However, the side of a baked potato with mac&cheese was delicious! Definitely would recommended that side. To drink, I ordered the Frose. It was decent but not worth $23 for a plate a vegetables that probabaly cost $5 in total. It was literally quinoa, some bell peppers, onions, and zucchini skewers and half an avocado. please. Mango salad was pretty yummy. good mix of flavors and refreshing vegetables but small overall and again, overpriced. Lobster scampi was weak on the lobster. Very small for $40 and wasnt special. Fettucine alfredo that came with it was Olive Garden quality if not worse. Staff was a little rude and grabbed our plates away too quickly at times. They also practically threw down the food on our table without much. They were also inattentive. The place was nice. Felt like it was mostly paying for the nice interior and views of the Potomac. I will start off by saying service was slow, but our server was really trying. I'm not sure if he was new, or just busy, but he was very apologetic for taking so long to get to our table throughout our meal. The table next to us was BEYOND distracting, it was about 10 girls that were loud and taking pictures for hours. They were so rambunctious, that service had to ask them to either quiet down, or back away from our table (per COVID protocols) more than 3X. Not the restaurant's fault, but made our experience less enjoyable. The food itself was just sub-par. I ordered the queen (snow) crab legs and mashed potatoes. The potatoes lacked seasoning and the crab tasted very watered down and had NO flavor. The food was not worth the money. The restaurant itself is beautiful- high ceilings, tasteful hanging artwork overhead, views of the river, and very modern architecture. Very cute venue! The decorations here are so modern and sophisticated. We came here for a company party so not sure what it would have looked like otherwise? The food we had was buffet style but included bacon wrapped scallops, steak, chicken, black bean egg rolls, crab cakes, Caesar salad, three different pastas (Alfredo, tomato, mushroom), and rib roast. Everything was delicious. If any of these things are served at their actual restaurant, I would for sure come back and recommend. This restaurant used to be my second home for years when I had lunch meetings or visited my law firm before they moved to central DC. For Father's Day , my adult children wanted a restaurant with a view as well as keto friendly and the menu for Father's Day had everything that would satisfy their palate as well as ours. The location in Georgetown on the waterfront is superb and the day was sunny with an awesome view walking around the area before and after eating. Parking is available in multiple garages and it was not issue finding space. I had heard about the 11 million renovations and I have to say after entering and walking up the stairs with an immediate view inside and outside ( and later upstairs) the upgrade is significant and it looks completely different than before, more upscale colorful and spacious both inside and outside . It was crowded five the day and we waited another 25 minutes while a table inside was being prepared. I saw the Manager Andrea working herself and introduced myself ( I had been provided her name by CEO Michael Weinstein who confirmed my reservation, which was really nice of him as I hadn't heard back from the Manager. The buffet was incredible with a vast quantity and selection of hot and cold seafood, meats and other appetizers, main courses and of course desserts. This was one of the best brunches I have had. I wish that I lived closer or got to spend more time for work in this area so that I can revisit this place. First, I always have to begin with the level of service and how it feels. The greeting was warm and welcoming and the ambience was clean and well decorated for the season. We had a reservation so there was no waiting around for our table and to boot we had a nice window view of the water and the activities going on just outside. To get started the mimosas and variations of such type drinks are all tastefully crafted. I had a recommendation that I am not sure what all was in it but it was blue and turned purple as the drink was sipped down and then I switched over to coffee and Bailey's because why not? So far as the food. The pre arranged menu items were curated pretty well and they did a good job at portions seeing as how this is an all you can eat affair. Nothing was too much or too little - my party of three guys who all are athletic pretty hefty appetite gentlemen all were satisfied in being able to try many of the different items form the different sections without feeling bloated and overly stuffed. I actually think that some time has gone by but it is time for a redo of this place and maybe bring my mother and mother in law just to get them out. We all love brunch. I am not sure if the seating was limited due to staffing or how that goes, but the day we went there were some sections closed off and not available which was fine because we had a great seat with a view. Checked out sequoia for the first time this weekend after living in DC for years. It was a beautiful night out so we sat outside which is a great view & atmosphere. I got the dragon fruit margarita which was awesome. Never had a drink that color before! For food we got the lobster & prawn bisque & guacamole. The soup was so good I could have licked the bowl. The guac was pretty standard. Main course I got the New York strip steak. The side was a baked potato stuffed with Mac & cheese. Very interesting but the mac was good so no complaints. We also got the lobster scampi which was good but more of an Alfredo sauce than a scamp sauce. Last meal was the chimichurri chicken & shrimp, chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. For dessert we got the gluten free chocolate cake and mango sorbet with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate cake was so so good especially with the raspberry sorbet that came with it. The day began well after check in for our reservation. Then we get outside to the hostess station where, after checking in again with Daniella the hotess (Fatima) returns, walks past us and seats two women who had NO reservation. She could have done the smallest thing as opening her mouth to ask us if we had been helped. Chalk that up to lack of motivation to be at work today, need not bring that energy to work. I came here for brunch! The food was delicious and hot one of the best brunches in the DC area! Food ranged from raw bar crab legs, muscles and oysters all fresh and delicious. They had a range of different salads seafood, Paella Dim Sum, Sushi. They also had brunch classics chicken and waffles, Mac n cheese and bacon and also omelets. They also had a Parmesan wheel pasta that is out of this world and crab cakes. I attended Sunday brunch for my friend's birthday at Sequoia and loved it! The service was excellent. Our server Jeff made sure my champagne glass was always full. The food was delicious, and there were many options for food. They also had a dessert section with ample choices of sweet treats to try. My friends tried macaroons for the first time here. I enjoyed the roast beef, breakfast potatoes, and chicken & waffles from the buffet. I do have a few cons. The buffet and bathroom are quite the walk from the main dining room. I can see this being incredibly frustrating if you are not fond of stairs, especially if you are bringing toddlers, babies, or even a grandparent. This spot is expensive. Brunch is $85 per person. I visited Sequoia on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. I had a reset for 1:45pm. They do unlimited brunch and mimosas for $62. When you include the tip which is included, and tax it was about $81. Brunch limit is 2 hours. It's best to not do a late 1:45pm reservation like me unless you want to rush. Brunch ends exactly at 2:45 for Saturday's. I arrived right on time but my first guest arrived at 1:30.. She mentioned that the waiter stressed her too order before we arrived. I loveee the atmosphere, the inside is beautiful. I chose outdoor seating as they have plenty spots and it's very spacious. Our server wasn't the most friendly but she at least made sure we got to order everything we wanted. I got a bit of everything, they do smaller plate so it's nice to try a bunch of things. The French toasts was good! The chicken and waffles weren't my favorite. The potatoes were great and the crab labs. I also got the regular mimosa and the Sangria. I loved both especially the sangria. I really love that they have a variety of options, that's a plus. Awesome place. We make it a point to come here every time we are in town. The brunch cannot be beat. There is everything you could imagine for a brunch. Eggs, bacon, sausage, omelettes, hash browns and all the usuals... Sure. But also prime rib, shrimp, crab, and even tamales. The drinks are filled often. The staff is very meticulous and attentive. The view over the river is one of many great views in town. Parking is a bit of a chore with the construction, but that won't last forever. Patio Review: Abby & Adam, the most friendliest Bartenders on the Potomac served our party of 8 effortlessly for 4.5 hours while serving the masses of other patrons sitting at the bar & at the upper/lower levels of the patio. The abundance of umbrellas was an absolute benefit while the sun was out & beaming. Abby & Adam's tag team service was highly appreciated by us all. Sounds minor, yet they kept our water glasses full without asking as we tried to adjust to the hot sun, sip on cocktails & nibbled on various nosh. There are two TV's to view under the shaded Bar. To note, there is a small area right in front of the bar that doesn't allow sitting, it's reserved for people to walk up & place their orders. I think I watched over a dozen of people asked the Bartenders if they could pull a stool up...no dice. Inside of Sequoia's you'll find an airy & colorful layout with an enormous dining area donned with white linen tablecloths, a vibrant & heavily occupied bar, a private dining area upstairs providing relaxing views of the river & the courtyard's water fountain. The restrooms are also located up stairs. With various places to sit, drink & dine, the patio scene offers a sundry of people enjoying the social scene while watching the parade of boats. Thanks to Abby, I was happily introduced to a new wine, Château Haut-La Pereyre Red Bordeaux Blend, very enjoyable with a nice tannic finish. Either way, we opted to just have plates brought out intermittently, which did work well. They tended to bring enough for everyone to try each dish. The food was just ok. Nothing was really remarkable. Nothing was terrible either. French toast was nice with the berries. And the crab omelette was good. Those are the only ones sticking out to me.
