We arrived at 5:30 and almost all "dinner" tables were wide open, and stayed open during the 1 1/2 hour we were there, but we were told we would need to go to bar area since we didn't have a reservation. The view is spectacular. Sometimes you can even see guard walking on the White House roof! Food is good. Servings are decent and the flavor is fresh and inviting. Truffle fries are delicious! I especially love the freshly grated parmesan. Burgers are big & juicy... a little greasy would be my only complaint. read more

I believe the Vue is one of the best rooftops to catch a glimpse of the White House. I made reservations about 2 months ago. When our party of 4 arrived, the host took us to the rear area of the restaurant. It was extremely noisy, however much cooler than the main dining area. We asked if we could please be sat in main area as this was my friends first time and we had looked forward to sharing the experience with them. She then let us know that because of the weather it was not as cool and was much warmer. We didn't mind so they went ahead and changed it. Considering I had made reservations it would have been nice to have been sat at a table as closest to the open window. Not sure if this is something you must request when making reservation but it seemed all the tables were marked reserved. That would be my tip when making reservations to ask for a table where you are sitting right at the window. I preferred the shrimp cocktail ($26) it was very refreshing. The shrimp were big and the dipping sauce was delicious. My friend ordered the steak and Buratta salad ($50), She enjoyed it. Our husbands ordered the crab cake ($48) and they said they were very good. We ordered drinks. Moscow mules and gin and tonics which were doubles, and the Witness tampered. If you don't have a budget then enjoy your time there. I believe most places in DC are pricey. My opinion is we had drinks with small plates and I have added the total. Also we only had 4 in our party and the receipt says we had 6, which allowed them to force the tip on bill. Our gratuity was put on there by server so we didn't add to it. So let me start here: this place is the exact reason I despise going out in Washington, DC. Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon--perfect weather, everybody outside living their best life. Again, not shocking for a day like that. Fine. I make my way to the bar. I order a vodka water. Let me be very clear--a Tito's and water. H2O. Not infused. Not blessed. Not life-changing. The bartender was actually great--friendly, accommodating, even went to the kitchen to grab cucumber for me. No complaints there. When he asked if I wanted to start a tab, I did what any rational adult does--I asked for the price first. He smiles politely and says, "With taxes and service charge, that'll be $33." I'm sorry... what? Please refer to the picture I posted because I need witnesses. Thirty-three dollars. For a 6 oz drink. Y'all, I wanted to cuss so bad, but I also wanted Yelp to keep this review up--so just imagine the words I'm choosing not to type. Absolutely not. NO. SIR. Close my tab immediately. I turn to my friends to share this nonsense, and my friend casually says, "I just paid $130 for three shots and a vodka tonic." At that point, we were not just shocked--we were offended. There is nothing--nothing--about this place that justifies those prices except the fact that it sits dead center in tourist territory. And they know it. And they are banking on it. Shame on them. Do yourself a favor: keep your coins. There are plenty of rooftops in DC with better vibes, actual music, available seating, and drinks that do not require a small financial commitment. This one? Parking was a little bit of a hassle, but we were able to get to our reservation on time and get seated. The wait for our server was a little longer than I would have anticipated, but just taking in the fabulous panoramic DC views was awesome! We came here to celebrate my husband's FBI academy graduation. He made reservations for 6:30p so we could see the sunset. We were seated right at the window and they opened the panels so we could look out. Drink and food menus were promptly provided. I had the crab cake and my husband had the burger. Upon making reservations at VUE,we where assured there is an air conditioned room on that level. There wasn't! Record heat that day,it seemed like a lot of people bailed,because of the heat.Some had dinner reservations and left after one drink. Dining there was pure misery. ONE OF MY LEAST FAVORITE PLACES. Host - terrible long wait no point of reservations waited almost an hour in a Monday night. Reservation was set for 6:40 didn't get seated until 7:35pm Menu- very very limited ! Not vegetarian friendly and honestly the options suck. It doesn't seem like this establishment has a significant word of mouth about anything outside of the view downtown dc. As a native I would not rate this place a native friendly maybe a spot to visit if you're visiting DC but their restaurant does not represent anything about DC. I was so unhappy I didn't even order an entree which was the main goal of coming. Left still hungry. A bill of $100 for lemonade, Shirley temple and 2 apps is absolutely ridiculous. What is a thousand dollar view worth? Not million$. YES, VUE "Rooftop" (we didn't see the top but a ceiling with lots of glass and great views if you sit at the window.). We were forgotten waiting for our reservation and eventually got seated in prime real estate ADJACENT. Our view? Above? Yes. Beyond? Above average. The food surprised for a voluntarily "captive" audience. So did our table service. The prices? Expect to pay to sit here!! This was definitely a one off or maybe worth (I'm stretching) a second visit if only to hope to get a better peek at their view. Go back? If only to hope for a better view. Went here with a friend while I was in DC and it ended up being such a good rooftop spot since the weather was super nice. Not too crowded at 11:30am on a Saturday but it was definitely picking up by the time we left. We shared a few dishes and everything was actually really good. The pear and burrata salad was super tasty, the charcuterie board was loaded, and the pastry basket was a great way to start. Carlos R was our server and he was great! Friendly bartender and a chill crowd on a war summer night. Once our table was ready we were kindly escorted. Our server was super kind and knowledgeable answering all of our questions. On Friday, June 19th, 2026, from 6:15 PM to 8:50 PM Eastern Time, a dining party of four friends had dinner that was coordinated with a dinner reservation at Vue Rooftop Restaurant 515 15th Street NW Washington, DC 20004 (202) 661-2400 Each of our dining party of four friends averaged a dining tab of $200 apiece following alcoholic drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts, for a total dinner tab of an average of $800. At roughly 8:50 PM, our waiter asked if any of our dining party of four would like to order anything further, and we all declined. HOWEVER, we did ask our waiter what time was the live DJ going to start playing music. Our waiter informed our dining party of four that the live DJ would start playing music at 9:00 PM, which, at that point, was only 10 minutes away. After we paid our dining tab, our dining party moved to an empty table that was situated closer to where the live DJ was going to start playing music, given that we planned to dance once the DJ's music started. Suddenly, the Vue Rooftop Restaurant maitre d' on duty told us that our "TME HAD EXPERIED,," and indicated that we could not stay at our table to which we had relocated. When we asked the maitre d' on duty could we move back to our original table, the maitre d' on duty again told our dinner party that our "TIME HAD EXPIRED " and the maitre d' on duty escorted our dining party past the maitre d' station, and in the direction of the elevators that would take us away from the Vue Rooftop Restaurant dining and bar area. The maitre d' did not even tell our dining party that we were welcome to find available seating at the bar area -- the maitre d' escorted us past the maitre d' station and towards the direction of the elevators to leave the restaurant. We complained about that treatment to a number of restaurant associates who were standing around the maitre d' station, we mentioned how much we had spent, and we concluded that we would be sure to leave multiple reviews about our very rude experience shown to us by the maitre d' on duty. If you rely on photos from their website you'll think you're dinning in an upscale restaurant. However, all the effort is placed into the view.... of The Washington Monument. Our table was across from the bar and it's Subway-like facade, separated from the bar by a velvet rope. This resulted in well dressed ppl seeking a nice private meal at the window and ppl in shorts, flip flops and bathing suits watching us from the bar like caged animals at the DC Zoo. Recommendation: Have the dinner table chairs facing the window so you're not constantly catching ppls eyes trying to take a picture. Another suggestion: prevent all the looky looos from going up to the roof top. It ruins the vibe and for such a small restaurant there just not enough room and it adds to the chaos. A pleasant and tasty meal overlooking the DC skyline. My wife suggested coming here as she had been on prior occasion so it was my first time. You must enter through the hotel and take the elevator to the rooftop. There is no validated parking but the hotel offers valet parking, and there are two garages nearby for self-parking. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry. Drinks and food are pricey so be ready to savor every sip and bite. My wife and I both ordered the roasted chicken with asparagus that was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was dimly lit and we were able to comfortably talk which I appreciated. They have a couple of bar areas in multiple rooms, one of which appeared to possibly be reserved for a party. A nice visit overall and we returned at a later date to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The birthday with the larger party proved difficult as we were split between two locations and the restaurant was packed and noisy. Service continued to be slow and people complained about the pricey drinks as we were with a younger crowd. Who doesn't love a good cocktail with a view? We love bringing friends and family that are visiting here. One side has a view of the White House and the other has a view of the Washington Monument. We dropped in after showing my mom the art museum. Julian was our server. He was very attentive and personable. We ordered the calamari and shrimp, which was good. My mom knew she wanted a rum cocktail, but she doesn't drink often and didn't know what to order. Julian offered several options that fit what she was looking for. Love seeing her happy!
