VUE rooftop is situated in the Hotel Washington. The hotel has been renovated and is upscale. We made reservations for 5:30pm on a Saturday to ensure that we had seating for five with a view. The view does not disappoint as you can see the White House, The Treasury Building, as well as other major buildings and memorials from the rooftop. Be prepared to pay premium price for this. Specialty drinks are $30 each and the menu is limited. 20% service fee is added to the check. We ordered 3 drinks, one Shirley temple and regular water. The bill was over $120. Service was good. A little pushy as they want to turn the table if you are not ordering food. It was a good experience but we would not be back. read more

We went to this place to celebrate our friend's birthday. It was my first time there, and when I arrived and saw the view from the top, I loved it. I got to see the Washington Monument and the White House, and it was a very picturesque view. I loved it. This place has two sections: one with a bar and a sitting area, and the other with a bar and a dance floor. Now, let's talk about the drinks. I tried "My Flower, My Nectar" and "Is This Still a Trend?", as well as "Power to the Peaches". "My Flower, My Nectar" is on the sweeter side. "Is This Still a Trend?" is an espresso martini with whipped cream. My favorite was "Power to the Peaches" - it was very refreshing and easy to drink. I have to say, the drinks are a little bit overpriced, but I guess that's typical for DC. I would recommend this place for the view to anyone who's visiting DC. read more

Cocktail: 10/10 so good so yummy - it did set me back $24 which is a bit insane Apps: 8/10 Vue scallops: i'm not a personal fan of the caviar they had but the scallops were nicely cooked and the sauce was yummy too. Peruvian ceviche: i think they use squid ink which is a little scary if you're wearing a nice outfit or lipstick, but it was good overall. the sweet potatoes were a good touch. Entree: Broccolini Caesar & burrata/peach salad (i don't see it on their menu anymore): honestly nothing too special i liked the appetizers more. Title: A Complete Birthday Disaster -- Misleading, Mismanaged, and a Total Rip-Off I have never written a bad review in my life. There is a first for everything! This was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. I flew in from Cleveland specifically for this night -- spending my own money and time -- all because Vu Rooftop Bar's website blatantly advertised "prime access to the action" for the historic U.S. Army 250th parade and fireworks. I even called multiple times before buying two overpriced tickets ($55 each) just to confirm what was promised online: parade views, rooftop access, the whole experience. What did I actually get? Chaos, confusion, and zero parade. We arrived early, hoping to get settled and enjoy the spectacle. Instead, we walked around only to discover there was absolutely NO vantage point anywhere to see the parade. When I questioned the staff, they brushed me off -- telling me flat out, "Oh, you can't see the parade, just the fireworks." I literally pulled up THEIR OWN WEBSITE on my phone and showed it to the employee. She shrugged and said, "No, it doesn't say that." It absolutely does. I copied it word for word: "Join us in the heart of D.C. on June 14 as the city honors 250 years of the U.S. Army with a historic military parade featuring thousands of soldiers, tanks, flyovers, and more... rooftop views, and prime access to the action." Blatant false advertising. After paying for an overpriced, underwhelming meal, we were told we only had 90 minutes at the table before being rudely kicked out because "someone else is waiting." Where exactly were we supposed to go? "You can stand over there, and maybe the private room will open soon," they said. That room didn't open until 7:45 PM -- well after the parade ended -- because, surprise! There was a private wedding party occupying it for the entire parade time. Meanwhile, the staff had no clue what was going on. We asked multiple people what the plan was, and they either shrugged or gave conflicting answers. The whole event was a mess: bars closed when we arrived, no management in sight, painfully slow service, and not a single apology for wasting our money and my birthday. Other guests were equally furious -- everyone I spoke with felt duped by the same misleading marketing. This experience was insulting from start to finish. I spent $110 plus food and drink for the privilege of being misled, rushed out of a seat, and treated like an inconvenience. Vu Rooftop Bar, you owe me -- and every guest you scammed that night -- a sincere apology and a refund. Until then, this review stays right here as a warning: Don't trust the hype. They will overpromise, underdeliver, and not care one bit when they ruin your special occasion. read more

Came here for a view and a quick bite. The service was alright, they weren't super busy but they weren't well informed on the drink menu. When asked I was told it was because they just switched out the menu, which is fair. There was plenty of bar seating and there was also some regular seats, but you have to make a reservation for those. The views were nice, you can kinda see the White House and the Washington Monument. The drinks were actually really good! I ordered the It's Not A Phase Mom and the truffle fries both were great!! I would order both again. The drink wasn't overly sweet it was a light refreshing crisp balanced drink. But in a smaller glass (if you want a little more get something else). read more

The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious! Wish the seafood tower was more for the price though. However the house special short rib was a good amount! It was DEFINITELY A CENTERPIECE! We also ordered the branzino; it was delicate so we opted to dip in the sauce instead of pouring over the entire fish. We also ordered burrata and jerk peach salad; also delicious but on the heavier side. We were hoping for something more light and sour to break up the heaviness of the short ribs. All in all the food was delicious. The atmosphere was also very nice worth the wait for a reservation. Cannot beat the "vue" but it was, and continues to be, very average food and service this past Mother's Day. Our waiter was just competent - the bussing staff were better. Bartenders were good but Bloody Mary is pretty weak although the specialty drinks were creative. The food was just fine: empanadas were nicely fried but the filling was a little dry; their waffle maker was on the fritz so the thing everyone came for (chicken and waffles) was unavailable. That was really disappointing and probably sank the mood. I had a delicious club and was thankful for kids menu grilled cheese, but on balance, a bit of a fail. Again, worth it for ambience, just be forewarned the food is okay and the service nothing to be bowled over from. read more

Four stars for the view. There are few places in Washington, D.C. where you can dine and drink so close to the White House and the Washington Monument. For food, you have to order right. To start, we really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail. It comes with flavorful sauce and five large shrimp. My six-year-old daughter loved the mac and cheese. (My wife and I scraped the plate clean once she couldn't eat it all.) The scallops were flavorful, but the jam on top and the actual scallops were overcooked. (It may have just been an off day.) The cocktails are plentiful. For a more sweet drink, yet balanced, I enjoyed the "Power to the Peaches." Service was excellent- kind and efficient. read more

Marcus and Fakade were being incredible. Marcus went above and beyond for my husband and our families. We chose to come to Vue for our reception after we eloped at the courthouse. Once we arrived to the restaurant for our reservation, upon finding out why we were at the restaurant, they went pulled out all the stops and surprised us with a room all to ourselves. We had the view of the district with no distractions or looking past another person. So with that said, the views were incredible, service was amazing, and the food was some of the best food I've had in DC. From the Seafood Tower, to the Filet, to the dessert the brought out at the end. I haven't had this great of an experience dining out in a LONG time. Though we had a one drink and a short stay at this skytop bar, it was nice setting and capable mixologists. Modern and clean setup with a layout that allows for exclusive space. A small group of us met an advon group at the location. When we arrived there on a Friday night after midnight, the place was not too crowded and the music was bumping. It was too loud for our crowd, but not too loud for those that can appreciate I ordered a $18 Old Fashioned, which wasn't too bad. I'd probably try a signature drink next time. The pre-snowy weather outside wasn't too bad and the heat was appropriate, but you could see the night view of the DC grounds... the Treasury, the Washington Monument, the White House. It was nice. Service was good, the staff were nice and helpful when we wanted to move to a table. We were so hungry after the MJ show let out next door, and it was 10:25, my resi was for 10 and I hoped the 15 min grace period would be extended ... they accommodated us and it was awesome. They even let us switch tables halfway through our meal so we could have a small booth overlooking the White House !! Vue offers a delightful experience with a great view and a great rooftop experience. We got the well-crafted charcuterie board that easily satisfies the group of six of us. The selection features a nice variety of cheeses, dried fruit, olives, meats, and jams. The blue cheese was pleasantly mild, and the Brie was wonderfully melty and creamy. The shrimp cocktail was enjoyable, with impressively large shrimp, though I would have appreciated a few more of them. The cocktails were also a highlight--each one was delicious and well-balanced. VUE is a rebrand formally known as POV, when Hotel Washington was The W a couple years back. I've eaten at POV before and it wasn't memorable. VUE on the other hand, left my taste buds wanting more. The food was DELICIOUS! The lamb chops and Branzino could not have been any better and the shrimp topped deviled eggs as a starter were perfect. Aesthetically, VUE looks identical to its former place holder POV, with that said, you get some of the best views of the city, being located in the heart of DC. I went here on a weekday to have dinner. I did enjoy the scallops very much. I had the Seabass as my entrée and I didn't like that it didn't come out warm. We came in when the kitchen was about to close, but that's not an excuse. Service could've been better and more attentive for sure. I really did love the espresso martini drink. This is a nice rooftop to hangout with a spouse or a group of friends. My girlfriend and I stopped here on 4th of July during the day to grab a drink and chill. It has a view of the federal reserve building and the White House. They have pretty good drinks but are a tad pricey. But that's just DC in general now unfortunately. The bartenders were friendly and helpful in making our choices. They were quick as well though it wasn't crazy busy during the day. I'd say this is a good spot to just chill and grab a drink. I can see how Vue Rooftop got its name. The views are truly gorgeous, even if not quite from where I was sitting, the overall scenery was stunning. I understand that things are pricey in Washington, DC, especially in that part of town, but I found the prices here to be a bit outrageous. On top of that, a 20% gratuity was automatically included, which felt unnecessary for a bar setting when I only ordered half a dozen oysters and one drink. That being said, the oysters were fresh and the drink was definitely strong, so I cannot complain about the quality. I do not see myself going back, but I am glad I had the experience and got to enjoy it with friends. read more
