On a Thursday evening, a friend and I ventured to Georgetown for dinner on a rooftop. CUT by Wolfgang Puck is the restaurant inside the Rosewood, but CUT Above is the rooftop part with views of the city. For the month of October, CUT Above features an Oktoberfest menu. To feed two of us, we ordered the shrimp cocktails, ceviche, grilled cheese with ham, sausage, and two pan cotta desserts. The winners were the ceviche. It was unique and full of flavor. Beautiful venue, even the hotel downstairs when you walk in is lovely. But once you sit down it's all down hill. Inventory is questionable as the first drink we wanted wasn't available. Our server took our drink order and didn't return for 45 minutes after dropping them off. We had to place our food order with another server. The food took probably 25 minutes for the rillette (no cooking) and the grilled cheese (which was delicious). No one came to ask if we were enjoying our food. After my partner was sitting with an empty drink for 25 minutes and I was for 10, we decided to just ask for our check. With the beautiful weather we would have enjoyed another couple of rounds. When we finally asked for our check, there was no apology for the lack of service and no one asked if we enjoyed our meal. Definitely will not be returning read more

we arrived early for a reservation at the main restaurant - the dining room wasn't open, but the maître d' escorted us to the elevator to relax at the rooftop bar. very nice. loved the view - enclosed with clear tenting, so the chilly breeze didn't bother us. the drinks were top-notch - my wife got a French cider she hadn't tried before. excellent & crisp. Great views of Key Bridge and Rosslyn! Came on a Sunday so the bar was pretty empty - we were seated and served pretty immediately. I did see here on Yelp there was complimentary popcorn which would have paired well with our drinks but we didn't get that perk unfortunately. In addition the menu was pretty limited and expensive so we stuck to our drink to enjoy a city rooftop view. I'd definitely return to catch a sunset city view while sipping on wine/champagne with some friends. read more

We just left CUT above, which boasted a "ski lodge" themed Christmas special drink menu and upscale small bites on the rooftop. Well, plastic-y and half hearted decor aside, they certainly weren't kidding about ski lodge temperatures - the rooftop was covered with a cheap tent that was not even sandbagged down, forcing us to eat in 18 degree weather with the sides of the tent slapping into the table while the windy winter elements poured in. Through chattered teeth, we ordered the $38 dollar caviar baked potato, which was instead a MINI potato, and the half smoke was deconstructed and underwhelming to say the least, set down by the one staff member who had the unfortunate task of bartending, waiting tables, and busing. It was a pure, shameless money grab "pop up" where they had hired influencers to take photos of the one plastic ski lift seat, and a few blankets and trees to fool the unwitting guest. We all ordered a round of martinis, and then asked if the bar does birthday drinks/shots. It was my birthday and the waiter offered a mind eraser that was disgusting and I took one sip of. the manager dominic came over and said "we could also do a zipper" which we assumed were part of the birthday shot (this was a Penn State drink that Dominic recommended because someone in our party went to Penn State). he said "when you come to nice places like this you should expect to pay". we ended up getting charged $200 for drinks that were not good. the bar was not crowded at all, not worth it. read more

The service was great I had a server who made sure my needs were met and went further when I could barely finish my drink because of the spice level. However, I will say the space is kinda of small. Intimate if you want a positive twist tight if you don't. The cocktails are expensive as you might expect (I don't know how the price compares to other bars in georgetown). Wish the staff was better informed and more accommodating. I was looking for a place to meet friends for drinks and food and this seemed like a nice venue. Called to make sure they have an outdoor space where we can stay outside because of covid but under an umbrella because it was raining lightly. The person answering the phone confirmed they have covers on their rooftop. Upon arrival they started asking if we were guests of the hotel and denied us going upstairs because we were not staying there. Words cannot express my visceral anger and disappoint in the Nee Years Eve "Party" at Cut Above. Imagine walking out of a party you spent over $600 on BEFORE ringing in the new year. Yes it was that bad and we were not the only people who left. Even the bottomless " champagne" which someone never gave anyone the slightest buzz wasn't enough to keep most people there. At 1030 it was practically empty as most people cleared out. Is it possible to mess up a seafood tower, charcuterie board and churros? Well according to Cut, it most certainly is! I've had better shrimp from Wegmans. The food was inedible and stale. Hard churros, thick and cold chocolate and caramel sauces, dried out cocktail shrimp, really bad cheese on the charcuterie board and no decent fruit or bread to speak of. The "DJ" looked incredibly bored and seemed to play music from his iPod, no mixing, Mike or enthusiasm. Most of us decided this was no way to ring in 2025, and headed over to the free and lively gatherings at the other hotels in the area. My second time at CUT! The rooftop is wonderful, and has a great view. The music and pool added to the vibey ambiance. Ordered a bottle of a French pinot which my friend and I enjoyed. While our waiters tried their best, I do believe they could have been more attentive as we had to wait for them to be in sight a bunch of times. We were there yesterday for their fourth of july dinner. We bought tickets in advance and they cost $350 per person, plus an automatic gratuity and tax. For two people, we paid very close to $1k. Now for that price, we were supposed to get a three course meal, a champagne toast, and a nice view for the fireworks later in the night. We arrived and it started off pretty well. They had an ice cream cart in the lobby serving up creme fraiche ice cream topped with caviar. This wasn't really to my taste but it was playful and fun. My husband happily ate mine. Then we took the elevator up to the rooftop and were escorted to our table and promptly served a glass of champagne. This was the end of the pleasant part of the evening. It was extremely hot and humid and they had no fans on the roof at all. This was an easy thing they could have done to make this more pleasant for everyone but instead we just all sat and sweated. Then we waited 90 minutes for our first course. Inexplicably, two tables near us were served food about 45 minutes in. Mind you, we were all seated at the same time. The restaurant knew exactly how many courses they'd need to serve and when. And there was no choosing what you wanted - we all got the same thing. So this was very easy to plan for. But instead we sat, hot and sweaty, and now hungry, and watched while some tables were served their first and THEN SECOND COURSES, while we had NOTHING. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky because some tables around us waited a full two hours before receiving any food at all. This was utterly unacceptable in any setting, much less one where we all paid what we did. Now, on to the food itself: it was embarrassingly bad. Here is what we had: First course, a trio of softshell crab sliders, corndogs, and truffle deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were good, the corndogs were cold, and the crab slider tasted off - I took one bite and didn't eat any more. Really I think the reason the deviled eggs were good was because they were prepared ahead of time and didn't need to be cooked that day. Then the main course - a dry aged ribeye with chimichurri, a whole lobster with chili butter, watermelon salad, corn tabbouleh, and duck fat potato salad. The steak was served well done wiht no chimichurri - and at no point were we asked how we would like the steak cooked. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky we got it at all. The lobster was cut in half and served plain - no butter. Also no cleaning out of any guts or gunk, which rendered most of it inedible. The potato salad was bland and needed salt, the tabbouleh should have been incredible but tasted like it was made a week prior, and the watermelon salad was the best thing we had on the night. It is hard to go wrong with fresh watermelon, feta, and a drizzle of balsamic. For dessert they served us a chocolate mousse cake, which was good, because clearly it had been made by someone else well ahead of time. So to sum up, what did I actually eat for $350+? A deviled egg, a cold mini corn dog, one bite of off crab slider, a few bits of overcooked steak, two bites of plain lobster, a spoonful of corn, a forkful of potato salad, a bowl of watermelon, and half a chocolate mousse cake. Does that sound fun to anyone or worth the price? The only good thing I can say about the service is that they clearly knew the kitchen was effing up spectacularly so they kept refilling everyone's champagne. But nobody came through and apologized or offered updates. And we had to ask for water refills. In short, this was a total disaster of an evening and I feel like they robbed us. We will never, ever come back here. read more

This is a surprisingly nice rooftop. The Rosewood is a great hotel with some great bars, and this is no exception whatsoever. The view is far better than the competition, so this is a great little place for a great drink and a great view. The only real caveat to this place, I think, is that the service is all over the place. When entering the venue, there was no-one to seat my group, and it felt kinda awkward to saunter over to a random table to sit down. Once we all did, the service was aggressive, and we were asked the same question multiple times by different waiters! I feel like a bit more structure would have been helpful. read more

After serving our drinks the server never came back. Had to flag them down to order another drink and food. Ordered the tuna appetizer and it took forever. Finally the server dropped it off with no utensils or napkins. Had to flag them down again. The app was very small and way overpriced. Similar to the rooftop at the Graham, the Rooftop Bar at Rosewood offers a beautiful view of Georgetown and the Potomac - perfect for a sunny day in DC. My group was turned off when we first arrived. We needed to be escorted to the rooftop and waited 10 minutes for the hostess to come get us. To make it worse, the way the front desk person treated us was not great. Because we weren't guests at the hotel, we were asked to wait downstairs in a certain area until the hostess could come take us upstairs (the front desk made it very clear that we weren't guests). They could simply do what pretty much every other hotel with a rooftop bar does and make the elevator button for the roof accessible to anyone and the floors with rooms accessible only to guests with keys. Once we got upstairs, our experience at the bar was great! Our waiter was honest with his wine recommendation (didn't just try to sell us the most expensive bottle) and once we sat down, they gave us the most delicious rosemary popcorn to snack on. Though it's a pretty small area, they have high top tables for 2-4 people and couches for larger groups. read more

This rooftop bar is one hidden gem of DC bar scene. I went on a Sunday with my friends. Rajiv, our server, took care of our drinks while we hangout at the corner patio furniture area. Great customer service here and what's even great is that it's not overcrowded due to the controlled customers that they let in so it was a good cozy time with friends. There was a pool on the same floor which is accessible for hotel guests only. They have games like cornhole and giant jenga. My friends and I played those games with drinks, yes, you can say we had a good time at the bar. I'd definitely go back to this rooftop bar!! read more

Beautiful view of Georgetown and the Potomac that is somehow still a bit of a hidden find! Our server was attentive and courteous without being "too much". We enjoyed some nice sunset views and wine, and the place wasn't too crowded either, which was a surprise for us as it was still on the earlier side of a Sunday evening. You have to go in through the hotel entrance for the rooftop, but it isn't difficult to figure out and the staff is super helpful. this is a nice, rooftop bar in a great location. i came here to enjoy the view and drink . i got a nice, light drink with rum and pineapple. i did not get any food , having eaten lunch prior to coming here. the view was nice. they have a good pool which seems like a good place to just chill. and they have nice couches. i just hung out at a table which was great too. the one criticism i have of this place is the strange way they have of getting you in. maybe im too avante garde, but i walked up to the hotel lobby worker and expected him to tell me how to get to the bar. but alas, what happened was a serious of calls and then eventually being greeted by another secret society worker who then showed me the elevator up. parking is nonexistent here, unless you use a garage. i recommend lyft or walking. overall: good experience, i would recommend it. read more

Okay, first and foremost - I love rooftop bars! The ambiance at Rosewood is fantastic - great view, nice furniture, mood lighting, soft music, etc. We started here for a friends' birthday, however, upon arrival we were told to wait in the lobby as the rooftop was "at capacity". I totally understand trying to control the number of people (as that makes this particular rooftop a far more enjoyable place than say Arlington bars) but, we sat in the lobby for quite some time without so much as a greeting. Once greeted, they put our names on a waiting list... no estimate of when we would be allowed to ascent the illusive elevators. Truthfully, I think they didn't like what my husband was wearing - a baseball cap and a T Shirt. Ok I get it, this IS Georgetown but I can't control his style choices :-) If it hadn't been for my friend, who knows how long we would have waited?... Finally, my friend came to retrieve us and had to ask permission to bring us upstairs where they had reserved a sofa/lounge area. Waiting to join our group wasn't a very nice start, but regardless we had a good time. The service team was very attentive in making sure we were properly cared for, even bringing extra seating for the group. We did not get food, only adult beverages, so I cannot speak to the rest of the menu. I also did not have to pay for my tab, but I would guess that it is a pricey establishment given the venue and location. My friend mentioned a hundred-dollar bottle of Pinot Grigio that she ordered (birthday girl - treat yo self!). During spring, summer and early fall weather I would definitely return just for the casual rooftop experience. Perhaps you should arrive early (and dress snazzy) so that you aren't sequestered in the Lobby! read more

Formerly known as Capella, but now under new and better management. Located in Georgetown on 31st street, this is the best rooftop bar in the city. 100x higher quality than the Graham's Observatory rooftop. I don't even know where to begin with how amazing the service is here, and thats just the beginning. I've been here quite a few times over the summer since it reopened. They have the best, most professional staff. They treat all of their customers very well. They have an amazing wine list. Great cocktails, great Champagne; all served in a friendly high class atmosphere. Drink prices are average for a nice hotel rooftop- not overpriced. Pool for hotel guests. How cool is that! They have games on the roof like cornhole, etc, but also a well designed small pool receded partially into the hotel wall. Overall: Consistent first class service, great atmosphere. read more

Very disappointing customer service from the three ladies at the front desk-we called in advance to enquire about visiting the rooftop bar early on a Saturday night for a short time with a large group (14), and though unable to take reservations, they assured us we should be able use the bar. Upon arrival, it went from bad to worse. The three women at the front desk were extremely unaccommodating, telling us there was a wait list and that they tried to keep the rooftop bar access for hotel guests. I find it appalling at the level of this service given most businesses are trying to retain business through COVID. Given that we had a large party it was too late to change the location for meeting, we remained in the bar next to the restaurant downstairs.The ONLY good thing about the service was the wonderful waitress Amanda in the seafood bar, who it seemed to be aware that the front desk staff were being rude and unprofessional. She was attentive and kind and knowledgable about the menu. The quality of the food and cocktails were excellent-just a shame it was soured but the three worst hospitality workers we have ever met. read more

The drinks are incredibly expensive for the level of service you receive. We were on a waitlist for much longer than told we would be and when we finally arrived upstairs they asked us to wait at some table for a few minutes because they are still preparing our table. Unlike the hostess on the first floor said our table was not actually ready. Then they showed us to a table that was three full length couches for four people. No wonder there was a wait list since each of us essentially had an entire couch to ourselves. We waited several minutes before receiving the menu from the server. And then after waiting several more minutes decided we no longer had time for drinks at this establishment before our dinner reservation. I love this rooftop, have been there few times and definitely keep coming back for the view and drinks although service wasn't the greatest. However today the bartender Valerie, i guess she is a server too was really good. She was quick, polite, and friendly. This is hands down my favorite place to go on a nice day in DC for a midday cocktail. The atmosphere and view are about as good as it gets, and the bartenders really know their trade. They drinks on the menu are good, but the staff is also capable of just making a drink based on "what you like" (bourbon, herbaceous, not too citrusy...). My only regret with this place is that it closes down for the colder months and doesn't open back up until the end of May, which makes for some missed opportunities (for me) on those beautiful afternoons in March and April to swing by for a drink (or several). read more
