I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. Then the starter problem. I had replaced a starter myself from a rebuilt shop and it was defective.Sabi was able to figure this out.Since then I knew i had found my repair shop. His shop has been doing oil changes,starters,,master cylinders,tires,Brakes Alternaters and services on my cars.Always repaired correctly and affordably. Its nice to see a familiar face at a garage shop with someone who knows you and your vehicles anytime you need auto repairs. Sabis shop is very qualified with very honest and reliable mechanics and I would not take my car anywhere else. I have previously worked at a Chevrolet dealership for 5 years.i would distribute service work orders to mechanics (12 of them) so i have seen the inside of the automotive business. I went there once to get my my oil leak checked out. It was obviously leaking cause I could see…read morethe oil drip from my engine onto the ground. They told me it was my oil sending unit and with parts and labour it would $70. I let them put it in and when I arrived home I was still seeing the oil dripping. I brought it back and they put it back on the hoist but said they couldn't see any oil leaking. Really? They fix cars for a living and can't even spot a dripping oil leak that any regular schmuck could see with naked eyes. If they couldn't see it actually dripping they should have been able to see the drips on the ground but they probably didn't even look for that. My rationale was that if they can't even see that there is a leak, I'm not even going to try and show them or have them try and fix my car again.

Two days ago, the tire pressure in our right rear wheel was low. After filling and checking again overnight, we did indeed have a slow leak. We went to one of the larger tire shop chain stores, and they found a screw that had lodged near the inside edge of the tire. They said that it was in an unpatchable section of the tire, and we had to replace the tire. After taxes, it would have been $550! The major cost was in the tire, so we figured we would get the tire done closer to my in-law's place in New West so that we could just drop off the car for the day, then pick it up after it was done. We found Hyack on Yelp, and quoted a slightly lower price for the job. I brought the car in so that they could inspect it in-person. Dave took a look at the screw in the tire, and he said, "I think I can patch this." He said that he's seen this type of screw before (must be common occurrence with all the construction in New West or something) and that these were typically short, so the puncture was probably small. Dave said that he would have his guys take the tire off and look to see if they can patch it. If they couldn't, we would go with Plan B and order the new tire. We left the car for a couple hours and then Dave called and said he was able to patch it. As he suspected, it was a short screw, and the puncture on the inside was actually in the flat part of the tire where he could secure a patch. All together, $45 for the patch! Definitely saved us from replacing a brand new tire with another brand new tire! How is that for honesty? I would absolutely recommend Hyack for their reasonable prices, honesty and quick turnaround. And for the person who thinks that he can get a patch for $10, good luck. Maybe if you bought your tires from that shop, they would do it for a discount, but $10 hardly covers the labor. $45 was very reasonable. The large tire chain was going to charge us $56 and the dealership $150. Thanks Hyack! You saved our trip!
