Talk about waiting for the last minute, or more like I didn't have time till Saturday and a family members car needed some brand new front brakes as it was giving that grinding metal noise. Well now it was lunch time on the Saturday and it was raining hard on this gloomy day.. and nobody likes to go find a place to go fix their car..... and even when you go to places to go fix your car, it's never fun, kinda like going to the doctor or dentist.... but for your car.. your just their for the nasty ride. So when I found this place and it was nearby my uncle's place.. and the Yelp app showed it to be open I gave it a shot, knowing that it was a glaring full five fire alarm stars, let's see what this place was about. When I pulled up, it's a place that is located in a building that has two other auto repair shops.... the only thing, this one was busy, the other two.... not so much. I didn't know where the office was, but once stepping through the garage doors there was hip-hop blaring out of the speakers, and it wasn't just background music, it was music, every verse, lyric, everything, even the @#$# bombs coming straight out, it was a fun type atmosphere for the techs that are working here, and for someone like me... it kinda gets you relaxed. I got to the back office and met with the man that was running the show. He asked what I needed, and I asked him.. seriously.. do you have time, he said to leave the keys.. and they will find a slot to fix my brakes. So I left the golden chariot to his boys to look at while I ended up doing other things instead of just waiting at the shop. Vimal eventually rang me up, told me the problem, and before they even worked on the car, gave me options. He was very clear as to what the price of things were and told me everything, breaking (braking) it down.... he also gave me an ETA when I would get the beast back. In a business that's so hard to please the client and usually when you come to these places it's not due to your own free will, the people here are great, the prices are fair, the service and attitude is excellent... thrown in a hip-hop vibe I don't know really what else to say... but the fact that now I know a place where I can go to, and tell others as well. I do know other places, and I decided to give this one a try, and if you are around this neighborhood give Vimal a call, let him and his boys look at your ride and see why these guys.. in his words.. are never busy! Super friendly owner, booked me in for a cheap pressure test at the last minute to find a coolant leak. Only thing is, they couldn't find the leak and when they topped up the coolant they left it burping for an hour. This made the garage look like an ectomorph died and messed up my front control module, making my headlights on the fritz ever since. I had to find the leak myself later on with UV dye (it was the water pump, which is the most common leak on my car), and then figure out the broken computer, since they tried for an hour and a half to figure out what was happening, despite a quick Google search which told me exactly what the issue turned out to be. Really friendly mechanics, very busy, and very good rates. This is more of a cautionary tale about booking things last minute and cheap if anything. I wouldn't use them again for those reasons, but I'm not saying you should avoid them. read more

I found this place on Yelp after getting a quote from Honda about a repair that I apparently had to get done IMMEDIATELY, and would cost me $1200. Here the gentleman did some research for me, found the equivalent part and did did the repair in under $600. Also was very honest, noting that the repair wasn't critical to be done soon but whenever I was able to, as it wouldn't compromise my car. Super honest and friendly service. After a very bad experience at our last mechanic I was fortunate to find West Coast Auto near 1st and Boundary. We have been going there for the past 7 years. Vimal and all his staff love cars and it shows. In my past experiences 50% of the time I would have to go back because work was incomplete. Never with West Coast. They are reasonably priced, honest, and get the job done when they say they will. I would never go anywhere else. They took care of our Audis and Porsche and my kid's Celica. I am new to the area and was looking for a reliable and competent shop to bring my Mazda to. I had a great experience at Westcoast Auto Repairs, and wanted to share. The issue was a noisy front end during acceleration and breaking. I'd been the dealership and the issue wasn't resolved. The folks at this shop spent the time needed to correctly diagnose the issue, which wasn't at all apparent. The dealership should have caught it be but didn't. Instead of getting me to pay them to fix it, the owner at Westcoast suggested I take it back to the dealership with the correct diagnosis, and see if they would take care of it at no charge - since it should have been caught the first time. Sure enough! Morrey Mazda took good care of me and fixed the issue at no charge and great follow up service. But the folks at Westcoast deserve a proper Yelping for the great work they did. I took my Nissan Pathfinder in there last year for an oil change - it took almost 2 hrs. There is so much noise going on there and absolutely nowhere to park but they told me to leave the keys and go for a coffee. I went back a couple of times and they still hadn't even started on my car. When it was finally done, I left thinking this isn't a place I would go back to. And I was right. The next time I lifted the hood to check my oil, I noticed that my under hood light was gone! No wonder the oil change took so long, someone stole the under hood light! It was an after-factory install, so it isn't like I can order another one from the dealer. Thanks for stealing the light from under the hood guys - that will come back to bite you. read more

Had my car towed there on a Saturday as the battery died and had a flat tire, called in to see if the car can be fixed before Monday. They are all booked up for the day and mentioned they will try to work on it if possible. To my surprise, got a call after their closing time on the same day to let me know the car is ready for pick up. A very careful mechanic, Penguin, and the manager of the shop made time to look at my Honda Civic Si on a _Saturday_ afternoon when I needed advice in the middle of a road trip. They were very generous with their time (went on a test drive with me, put the car on the lift, pried, sprayed, poked, and prodded) and although I ultimately decided to drive back to my shop on the east coast to do the repairs myself, I'm sure they would have done a very good job on the suspension and fuel system repairs (and I wouldn't have had to change the cracked fuel sender in a parking lot in Ohio!)
