These guys are great. After another shop wouldn't give a straight answer about whether or not they'd fix something, and wouldn't give me any price estimate, I went to Ootmar Automotive to get another opinion. They were upfront with what they could do based on the info they had and fixed some rodent damage on the first visit that the first shop didn't even notice. The guys at Ootmar answered all my questions with a lot of patience and passion for their work - they communicated really well and eventually helped to solve a problem with a dying crankshaft sensor. They provided a courtesy car as well, which was very nice. I'll definitely recommend them and go back the next time I need any work on my car! read more

Brought my EV in for maintenance, needed it last min and Ootmar was the only shop in the neighbourhood w availability, otherwise would have gone to my usual auto shop. Bro had a terrible attitude from the get go, annoyed that it was an EV, then LMK and I would have taken my business elsewhere. Not only did he not do anything to service my car/fix the issue, billed me for a bunch of nonsense, he took it out for a joyride and left 15KM from 200+ KM when I brought it in. Almost needed a tow driving out of the lot. Awesome ethics. read more

These guys are awesome! Was visiting from out of town and tire light came on and had them check my battery as well! Was done within 10 minutes!! Thanks Ben, you're a true homie. read more

Ben came highly recommended. We came to him for a second opinion after we felt that the dealership didn't have our best interests. Our 2013 Prius had an ongoing issue and he guided us with his expertise. He is honest and knowledgeable and really felt like we were taken care of. Kinda like your favourite uncle looking out for you :) read more

Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. They tell you everything you want to hear but deliver no results. Had my car towed here in May. They said it needed a new ecm and pcm. They promised me this was the issue and that it would be fixed. I asked them what happens if this doesn't fix it. They said and I quote, "then we work for free until we figure it out". That didn't fix the issue even though they assured me 100% it would and they ended up keeping my car for over 9 weeks until they called me and said they "threw in the towel" and had my car towed back to me. The owner wouldn't even give me a list of further things they tried on my car after their initial efforts in May which makes me think they didn't even try anything else. He "didn't want to go through the paperwork". Any reputable auto shop would give u some sort of idea of what they tried if their initial efforts were unsuccessful. Bottom line, Ben is rude and they didn't fix my car. read more

These guys are great. They are very friendly, they are always upfront about whether you actually need something or if it can wait, and their prices are reasonable. And, of course, they do a great job taking care of my car. I had to bring my car into a dealership recently for a recall issue, and the experience at Ootmar is so much better. read more

First yelp review for me. Ootmar Automotive is the honest, thorough and friendly shop you're looking for. I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

Great service and excellent people. They go out of their way to accommodate you into their busy schedules. The prices are excellent and they don't shaft people that don't know much about cars. read more

Nice service and very friendly staff. They were able to put me in even though they were very busy. Peter in the shop told me that an eroded grommet is causing an air leak, affecting the air and fuel mixture and making my engine light up. And originally I thought something was wrong with the engine! Needless to say, I was relieved. In the end, they replaced the grommet and fixed my car. I am glad I found an auto repair shop that doesn't screw people over. read more

Outstanding vehicle service and repair. I am a repeat customer and will be in the future. This is an honest knowledgable shop that does excellent work at a fair price. They take the time to discuss the issues and work out a repair schedule according to your parameters. In addition to late models they handle carburated, points ignition equipment with aplomb. A good shop is hard to find and I highly value their service and skill. read more

These guys are the best. Not only did Al and Lawrence make our lives very easy with our car, they also helped us sell it. We trust them as much as you can car mechanics. We would recommend these two to anyone looking for good car advise. Richard and Liza read more

Great service and communication. They were able to diagnose a parasitical drain within hours. Repair was completed within a day because of an ordered part. Highly recommended. read more

I have been going to Ootmar for many years, on the recommendation of my former (and most beloved) mechanic when he closed his shop and moved away. Sadly, because I drive a series of cheap used cars, I have come to know them better than I would like to (no offence, guys at Ootmar!). Every. Single. Experience I have had with them has been positive. They are professional, kind, highly skilled, and treat me with respect and generosity. As a woman, I have had my share of mechanics who either try to snow me (reminder to dishonest mechanics: a lifetime of owning junkers teaches you a thing or two about cars, jerks) or talk down to me (slowly and loudly) in a way I'm pretty sure they wouldn't to a male client with the same level of car know-how. Not at Ootmar -- clear and detailed information, and thorough answers to follow-up questions; advice on prioritization when a couple of different repairs are indicated; assessing and advising me on potential vehicle purchases (saved me from at least one disaster). And always a little extra thrown in somewhere - lagniappe that makes me feel appreciated as a customer. :) Prices: I like to get a second opinion on any significant expenditure, and according to all sources (including my dad and two auto mechanic cousins), their prices are very fair. Not cheap, but fair and reasonable. I'll never go anywhere else. read more

Need an honest, reliable, and competitive automotive repair shop? Well look no further than Ootmar Automotive. After getting the royal run around at other auto repair shops I decided to try Ootmar's back in 2010. Since then I have received nothing but excellent service. They go out their way to ensure you receive A-1 service. Just this past week when a minor issue arose with one of the pulleys the owner had it repaired and replaced the serpentine belt in the process...NO QUESTIONS ASKED...NO CHARGE! As mentioned in previous reviews they are very patient in providing explanations and never "talk down" to you. Finally a repair shop that treats you with respect and doesn't try to take you to the cleaners in the process!! read more

I went to Ootmar with a small problem. They listed a number of issues to fix costing $800. My boyfriend diid not believe this so we went to another mechanic and he said of the issues they listed there was absolutely nothing wrong with 4 out of 5. The second mechanic fixed the issue for under $200. I believe this is a prime example of dishonest mechanics taking advantage of people who don't know anything about cars. The people at Ootmar were extremely nice but I guess all con artists are. Live and learn. read more

The worst of the worst. Make sure you have another estimate because they will fix what doesn't need fixing and charge you. Just another example of dishonest mechanics. read more

These guys are great. I have an older vehicle and have been visiting quite a bit over the last few months. Honest, reasonable and no unnecessary work or BS. All that and friendly and personable. Definitely recommend this place. read more
