I needed (another) out of province inspection on a Saturday, with no appointment. I was sent to Velocity Auto Works by another garage and I am so happy that this is where I ended up for my inspection. The other garage did not do inspections and they said- go to Velocity, they are really great, trustworthy guys. First of all Velocity got me in right away- and were very prompt and friendly too. I was surprised I was able to get my car in even that morning so this was great news. The inspection went well and it was done within just a couple of hours. I would definitely go back to Velocity and recommend them to other people looking for out of province inspections, especially on a Saturday as most garages I called that week were closed weekends. read more

My situation was a problem with a misfiring cylinder which made the car barely drivable. The car is less than 5 years old so I had hoped to just have this resolved ASAP at the dealership under warranty. None of the dealerships I called would even accommodate an appointment earlier than a week away! Brian and Byron on the other hand were able to slot me in the next day on very little notice. Very courteous, great communication about what was going on and what needed to be done. I felt I got so much more value out of the service than a dealership. I used to work down the street from Velocity Autoworks and started taking my car in for oil changes just cause it was convenient for me. I quickly discovered how great these guys are. Brian and Byron are very friendly and honest guys. They are also competitively priced and have never tried to sell me things I don't need. A few years after I started going to Velocity, I left my job and moved to Surrey. I tried another mechanic closer to my new home. I ended up spending well over $2000 on unnecessary repairs and brake jobs with cheap materials. I had it with that mechanic and decided to go back to Velocity. I just did an oil change that day and mentioned that I was really unsure about the brake job the other mechanic did as my wheels were extremely squeeky (more than the new brake squeek. It was excessive). Brian checked my brakes for free at no extra charge, and did not try to upsell me and say I needed new brakes asap. He verified they were operating safely and it was just cheap materials that make noise. I will, of course, go back to Velocity to replace the brakes when I am ready. These guys have never steered me wrong. They're honest guys and will not try to screw you out of money. A plus is that they are located right by the skytrain. Easy to transit if you need to leave your car there for the day! read more

I didn't give them 5 stars simply because I've only been here once so I don't know for sure that it's 5-star worthy. But I was definitely totally pleased. I went to a couple places before this that tried to screw me (telling me that I needed a new timing belt, when I was well aware that my car doesn't even have one to begin with!) but Velocity was super nice, no nonsense, got the job done on time and without any hassle. They are right behind the Skytrain station too, which is a huge plus when you have to leave your car there overnight. The only thing I would say is that it would have been nice if they'd given my car a quick hose down at least, but I guess there aren't a lot of places that do that anymore. read more

I had my car towed in after having it die. I arrived around 10 minutes before closing, fully expecting to leave the keys for the next day. I was called in the morning and informed that my car was very much dead. I paid and had the car towed later the next day. The service I received at drop-off, on the phone, and at pickup was friendly and professional. I will definitely be bringing my next vehicle here for repairs! Velocity was recommended to me, my husband was the 1st to try them out. He loved them, great fast service. I booked an oil change for myself a few weeks ago, and I have got to say...super impressed by Brian, I had a 2pm and I got there early, he just had to finish up (he was solo) so I sat down had a nice complimentary coffee started my book, figured I'd be there for a while. Well before I knew it out comes Brian and says "All Done" I was like WHAT....that was speedy. He checked my fluids and tire pressure too. Came to Vancouver on a medical trip from out of town. Dropped family member off at hospital for major surgery and right then vehicle just started idling really rough, but with no check engine light indicated. Needed to make sure I could get home post-surgery so went to a place that local relatives recommended in Burnaby. They were unable to help but recommended Velocity to me. Velocity was careful not to make any promises in this situation, where the diagnosis was not clear and could be any number of issues, but they performed amazingly. A throttle body cleaning done at a reasonable price and I was on my way. Highest recommendation. read more

Went to velocity to get service for my 2012 Honda Civic. I've been trying to find a good mechanic I could trust and depend on to take good care of my car. This was my first visit and they were able to provide me with quality service. Both Brian and Byron were super friendly and really made it known to me that they'll take good care of my car. My car service was finished within an hour. Quick service is always a plus. I do recommend calling them first and see if they can take your car in because they do get really busy so make an appointment or call them. I would definitely recommend Velocity to anyone. read more

$150 for a Provincial out of province inspection!! This is a STANDARD inspection, where they just look at a bunch of stuff, and don't fix or repair anything. Do your research and you'll find most places charge $75-$100. Even Canadian Tire does it for $95 I think. I've seen it as low as $60 for it before. What value do I get for paying an extra $75? A few years back I washed my engine and got some water in my spark plug cylinder. Velocity changed all my NEW plugs with cheapo $4 Lordco plugs (charging me $20 each BTW!), costing 30 min labour; all this done WITHOUT my authorization. So forgive me if I don't feel like paying an extra $75 to get a Standard inspection everybody else does, so you guys can strong-arm me to fix other things in order to pass. No Thanks - the only person I let rip me off is my wife. read more

Called them today, I needed to put winter tires on. I went to Costco twice, they were busy and you can't make an appointment. My mechanic was asking for $20/tire. 30 minutes later - tires are on, cost me $35 for all 4 tires. Really nice people, highly recommended. read more

I still bring my car ('97 VW Golf) here for repairs even though my wife and I moved from Burnaby to North Van years ago. Agree with previous post. 2 totally honest hardworking guys who do only the work that needs to be done on your car and at a reasonable price. I trust them completely. Example: When I first moved to North Van, I brought my Golf to Taylormotive (popular repair shop on the North Shore) to have an antifreeze leak checked out. Their diagnosis was to replace the entire radiator at a cost of $500 plus. I balked at this and went to Velocity for a second opinion. They correctly diagnosed the problem as a cracked plastic coupling that cost a mere $20 to replace - haven't had a problem with the radiator since. In a nutshell, that's what they're all about. read more

It's difficult to find a really good mechanic, but good news, here they are. The guys at Velocity are the best of the best. We've been using them for years for all our car maintenance and repairs. They are prompt, friendly, respectful, and never condescending either to me or my wife. If there is a problem with your car they tell you honestly whether you need the repair or not. A few years ago I had a slight power steering problem with my old car, their diagnosis? Hundreds of dollars to replace the malfunctioning and slow leaking part or "We'll just make sure we top up the fluid each time you bring it in." People like this are worth their weight in gold. They are wonderful, take your car here with confidence. Just make sure you make an appointment. Sometimes they can be a little busy (but never more than a few days). Let them know if it's an emergency though, they'll probably try to fit you in. read more

i totally hate taking my car to a mechanic, i am always so scared i am going to be douped but these guys are very honest and very helpful. i can drop my car off and feel comfortable leaving it with them for the day. they call me whenever they figure out a problem and give me a solid estimate of the work that will need to be done. i never show up and find some crazy bill with extra charges for this or that, its always what they say or under. they are great at explaining what the issues are and can answer all your questions. i am very glad i found this place, its the only place i will take my car! read more
