Consider this scenario: Imagine you took your car to a repair shop, paid $337 for changing the plugs, only to have your car break down again just four days later. How frustrating does that sound? They will charge you, not fix the problem so that you come back and later will say sorry to compensate the frustration. Here's what happened: On January 19th, my car was stalling, so I went to Vancouver Auto Centre (VAC) and got charged $175 for diagnosis fees (excluding change of plugs). I didn't question it, considering it an emergency fee due to the short notice. Between January 19th and February 13th, I only drove the car for four days, fearing more expenses, and started using an electric bike instead. On February 13th, the car stopped, requiring a boost from BCAA. Then, on February 15th, the car started stalling again, and I took it to All Care Auto, recommended by a friend, who changed the alternator and battery for $867. As it turned out, an alternator problem caused more issues than initially apparent. VAC charged a hefty $175 for diagnosis, excluding labour hours, which should have identified the alternator issue, potentially saving my $600, excluding three hours of my time. Such a diagnosis is usually applied when standard procedures fail to pinpoint the problem. I've learned the hard way about garage practices. I discussed it with VAC, but they said they would not charge me the diagnostic fees again if I went back!! how funny!! They would charge me more than All Care auto did and might not fix the problem in the second place. Given the nature of my job, finding a reliable mechanic around downtown Vancouver for immediate assistance seems challenging. While I can't vouch for All Care Auto beyond this one experience, as I have used them only once, they have a good online reputation. read more

They were super rude coming in charge me almost $70 for that then I asked if you could take this plastic piece that was dragging underneath my car off he told me I had to wait 15 minutes hoisted up my vehicle snipped it charged me $30 for that and then I asked him to change my oil charge me another $80 then he told me I had a recall on my 2013 vehicle but there's no recall he didn't even know what year my vehicle was. read more

I just want to take the time and say everyone in Vancouver Auto Centre has been an absolutely delight to deal with. My cube van was not working and I was very erractic since I had deliveries to do the next day. Every shop was completely too busy and wanted to take me next week. I called into and spoke to Taha who was extremely pleasant on the phone and gave me reinsurance they will to fix what needed to be fixed asap. Guess what!? It was fixed the same evening! Not only that, Ali took the time to explain how to maintain my cube van and taught me alot through our conversation. He was super honest and really wanted to help a young guy trying to start his own business! The last shop had told me everything was A ok but far from it. I have had very good service so far. They will not rip you off and the customer service is excellent. I had my maintenance (oil change and such) completed in about 90 minutes. My AC had no fluid in the tank so They just filled it for me. They did not try and tell me it was a major part that needed replacing. You can feel at ease bringing your vehicle here. read more

This place saved me! My alternator went out and I was basically stranded! Mind you... I'm from Seattle Washington, came to Canada on vacation. This was on a Sunday that my alternate gave out. I called a handful full of auto shops and none were available. Called Vancouver auto centre and they were basically the only shop that was open on a Sunday. Got my new alternator and got me out of the shop within 3 hours. They knew I had to get home to Washington so they had two guys working on my car. We needed our old (2001) Ford's driver side door lock mechanism replaced. Ali found a part (was very rare to find and I believe him) fixed up no problems but we were staying in Vancouver for only 2 weeks (in the CBD) and I was going to park my car outside the venue on the street to save on parking. Ali went above and beyond and said don't do that. He'll move it into our locked yard in the evenings for you so it doesn't get broken into. For a week and a half after the work was done!! I got scammed by them. I went because my engine light was on.first of all I want you to know I don't have any idea about mechanic. When I was there he told me we have to know the problem( I had to replace the 4 spark plugs and one ignition coil). That was 65$ that should be deducted from my final price. They gave me the price and because I don't know nothing, it was Sunday and I need the car I said yes. When they finished the work ( less than an hour) he gave me the bill 630$ and I paid it. But when I was at home I saw he charged 80$ per spark plug (320), 52 per ignition coil and 190 ( two hours of work) I came back the next day to talk about the bill and they told me it was wrong. The new prices were 18 per spark plug and 252 per the ignition coil. I talked with him because he didn't work on my car for two hours but he told me since I came inside his shop it was two hours( that was false too), so he gave me the new bill and he gave me back 60$. Because everything seems too weird for me I called another mechanic and I asked him how much it will be replace all this stuff. He told me 260$ + tax. So I called this guy again and his answer was that I accepted the price he gave me. I thought he was honest, because he tried to be kind and generous but then.... A real Garage, with out of the box thinking mechanics. Took my 12" lifted 2000 Dakota with 40" by wide tires in, it was a bit of a basket case, but the guys were super relaxed, and tackled the job, ball joint, tie rods, shocks, seized this and that, welded shifter back on, and fixed my 4 wheel shifting mechanism that no one else would touch. Straight shooting honest, and not a big box experience. I'm sold, and any other issues I have, I'll be going back. read more

Needed an oil change and been looking for a service centre near my home. This garage is looking in East Van on Powell . I made an appointment for the next afternoon and arrived around 12:30 and car was taken in right away and oil changed and off I went in less than an hour and watched the whole procedure . My Subaru has needed new struts for a long time. It's expensive work, so I procrastinated. My credit card gave me a 0% deal, so I finally decided to bite the bullet and get that done as well when my starter went. I did a list of what needed doing. This included an alignment, balancing and seasonal tire change. I have gone here for oil changes and small work because their hours are good, so why not? All new parts were shown to me, all old parts were shown to me. The job was done in a timely manner and perfectly. Then I drove to Whistler. The new speed limits are higher. I noticed a shimmy on my steering wheel when I hit 100. I called them when I got home, and they told me to bring it in. They checked the alignment and it was good. Then they took the time to balance the tires. Bingo! One was a little off. They fixed it, reinstalled it and sent me on my way. No charge. The next day, I went to Whistler again, and guess what... Perfect. No shimmy. They did a great job, and when it was slightly wrong, corrected it, and were friendly to boot! Do I really need to state that I'm extremely happy? Check the stars! read more

Terrible service . The techs can't read fuel trim codes . They just slap parts on and hope it works .just a rip off!!! They come up with every excuse in the book . I'm not happy at all after 5 days of my truck being there !ffs! And if you seem to know what your talking about the owner will start to raise his voice and yell at you. Does not even deserve a half star! These guys do not know what they are doing! Apparently, it is no longer owned by the original people that started the business. Current owner Ali lacks basic customer service and is a blatant liar! Do not be fooled by his seemingly nice personality. On his suggestion, I dropped off my car for an alignment service as soon as they opened in the morning. He has a manager named Ross (who does not know much about shop operations, favorite phrase is "I don't know") called a few minutes before closing time only to say their alignment machine does not work. I mean, I could have brought my car to another shop had they informed me earlier! What's worst was that when I came to get my car, it was still sitting on the alignment rack. There was no one else at the shop besides the owner Ali who said that I would have to drive my car off of the rack. While I was slowly backing up, he was watching but did not even tell me the front bumper lower valance was going to hit the rack surface which caused some damage! Sadly he did not want to assume responsibility for it. They also claimed to have fixed an air leak on one of my tires which they charged $30 plus tax, but I ended up taking it to Kal Tire since it was still leaking air. Kal Tire confirmed that they did not find any repair plug and that the leak was caused by a broken air valve. Consequently, the tire sidewall was damaged so I had to purchase a new tire! Owner/Operator attempted to swindle $1000 for a simple battery swap. This figure increased to $1400 after he placed a call to the "auto parts store." Avoid these con artists like the plague. Ended up getting a jump start, purchased a new battery, and had the replacement done elsewhere for just about $200. read more

This place is ready to steal your money. Sure, I should have shopped around first but I assumed that as they had been in the neighborhood for many years that they were trustworthy: they are not. I fell for the " We wont charge taxes - it will be cheaper that way" ruse and I should have been smarter. They charged me $1200 to replace four new tires on my car. When I got home, i called around and discovered 4 places in Vancouver that charged $825 -$875 for not only the same work and tires, but to also balance the tires and clean up their work ( not leave glue slopped all over the tires) and test drive the car afterwards. They simply wanted the $1200.00 and for me to leave. I returned to the store and the owner was a rude, aggressive horrible man, he berated me for not being a smarter consumer, that it was my fault that I paid so much. I showed him the cost of the tires at Canadian tire: $145.00 he charged me $270.00 each. So, after lots of arguing and me having to listen to him insult me I insisted he pay back $300 or I would call a reporter down to talk about his cash transactions: he relented, peeled off $300 from a wad in his pocket. But the point is: they gave me a quote for this job 6 months ago and forgot about that. Clearly, this is their reguler style of doing business and I would suggest you do not support them in anyway.
