Had to get an oil change and read some good reviews about this place so decided to give it a try. Didn't need to make an appointment and the oil change took about 10 mins even though they seemed to be quite busy. Unlike some other places I have been to for oil changes they didn't up sell me on any additional product like air filters etc. They told me my vehicle could take regular oil or synthetic and it was completely my choice. Had a very disappointing experience at this shop. I came in for a second opinion based on proximity and positive reviews, but ultimately left with a very bad impression. I initially came in for an oil change and asked the owner / owner's son, Riaz, to check a few items while the car was on the hoist: the belt drive, control arms, brake fluid, and brake pads. I was completely fine paying for an inspection, and he mentioned it would be easy to check since the car was already lifted. After the oil change, I was told that all of the above items needed attention. Based on his recommendation, I authorized the brake fluid service and belt drive replacement. The old belt was never shown to me after replacement. Regarding the brakes, I was told--both verbally over the phone and in writing on the invoice--that the brake pads were 1 mm in the front and 3 mm in the rear, and that they needed to be replaced ASAP. I found this odd and questioned it, but he doubled down and assured me this was accurate. I was quoted $550 per axle, trusted the assessment, and agreed. I was also given labor quotes for the work and asked to return once I purchased the pads and control arms. The labor pricing was on the higher side, though still lower than the dealership. The parts took about a week to arrive. Once the parts came in, I called around and found another shop that beat their pricing, so I dropped the car off there instead. Midway through the day, the new shop called me to ask whether I actually wanted to replace the rear brake pads, because they measured 6-7 mm remaining and didn't understand why they were being replaced at all. I have never experienced an auto shop calling to confirm work because they believed it was unnecessary and unreasonable. That alone speaks volumes. I returned to Amin's to see if they would make things right. When I first called, I was told, "What do you want us to do? The manager isn't here and won't be back for six weeks." After pushing back, I was told to come in and discuss it. When I arrived, Mr. Amin was extremely confrontational and stated that they "only eyeball the brake thickness." I explained that I came to their shop specifically for a professional opinion, and that I had written confirmation from their invoice stating the rear pads were 3 mm, which was clearly not the case. Had I not chosen to source my own parts, I would have been charged $1,100 for brake work that was not needed. I was ultimately told to "get lost and sue me if you want." There was no attempt to resolve the issue, no accountability, and no professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. im out money for parts and labor which i never needed. read more

Amins auto did a oil change on on my daughters car and they tightened the oil filter so tight it will not break loose . This is absolutely unprofessional , after seeing this I would not let them change the oil in my lawnmower . I have one word of advice for these hacks take your tools and throw them in the river and jump in after them. read more

Went to Canadian tire on Cambie & 8th, My low beam Headlight was burnt out, i asked them just to loosen a screw i had problems with to install the light i bought at their store, he told me i would be charged $133.00 plus tax, i almost took a crap. I drove off very angry, i drove up Kingsway and seen a shop called Amins Auto Service, i asked him the same question about installing my headlamp, he said $45, wow, he even installed it, then he said just pay him $25, i was shocked at his kindness and prices. Note: never did this review when I brought my car in last year but did bookmark it to do a review as I thought it was important for people to know. Got a bit busy and just never got around to it but here it is now (better late than never) This place is run by a father and son team. Called to book my car in for service but they told me I could come in the following morning. Yeah! Came back a few hours later to pick up the car. Was told that my breaks would need to be changed in a few months but it was still good for now so they didn't change it. Was also told I would hear some squeaking for a few days. Paid for my service and went along my way. After a week I was still hearing the squeaking so had to bring in the car to get them to check it. What is a bit maddening about the place is although it's great you can just pop in the same day or next day they actually don't take appointments so if you are trying to book something a week or so in advance they won't do it. They ask you to call a day or two before. Like hello what service business doesn't book appointments and makes customers call a day or two before? Most of us have busy lives we need to schedule! So I wasn't able to bring the car when I wanted to because I couldn't book an appointment a week in advance and I was going on vacation. So I had to put a reminder in my calendar to call a few days in advance. Finally managed to remember one day to book myself in and lo and behold they tell me I now need to change my brake. Like hello I was just there two weeks ago and told I was good for a few months. So annoyed I had to bring my car in a second time when they could have just done it the first time! So they fixed it and I went along my way. Tried to bring my car in for servicing at my next servicing milestone and once again was told I couldn't book it in advance but they could take me in the next day or two which wasn't convenient for my schedule. Decided to find another place because i cannot operate that way. Not sure if anything has changed in terms of advanced appointment booking but doubt it would have changed much in a year's time. read more

Saved a bundle on the 120K KM checkup for my 2013 Mazda CX5 by going to Amin's instead of the official Mazda dealer. Ended up being legitimately less than half the quoted price due to the vehicle being in good condition. Amin's changed the oil and reported that all of the other parts didn't need replacement now. Fixing one tire (nail) was only $25 - quite reasonable, and the oil change was $80. The oil change was a tad high standalone but well worth it considering the inspection bundled in. Customer service is excellent. Amin (jr) picks up the phone quickly when you call, and is easy to speak with. Scheduling is a bit informal, but it works. Just bring the car in and they will get you done fast. I was there first thing and there was an open bay, so my full inspection/fix took less than an hour vs. the 2-3 I was prepared for. Amin (Sr) did most of the work on the vehicle. Nice guy, very professional. The only negative is that their office is small and the waiting area is just 2 chairs and a little coffee table squeezed together. Tight quarters. It will be a lot better once COVID is over and you can hang out at a nearby restaurant. Still, not enough of a negative to mark down a star, and the value and service quality more than makes up for this. Going forward I'll be using Amin's as much as possible, and will evangelize per this review. read more

I have been going to Amin's for about the last four years, based on the excellent reviews that I found here. I have found them to be great. They are fast and fair. They have managed to keep my wife's much loved, but ancient 2000 Ford Explorer on the road in spite or our best attempts to kill it. A couple of months ago it started losing water. I assumed that I needed a new radiator and a major repair. Amin discovered that it was a leak in the thermostat housing, and fixed it for about a third of what I expected to pay when I took it in. So earlier this week we discovered that the Ford was losing water again. It was losing a lot. I was afraid that it was an engine block problem. We figured she was gone. So I took it to Amin to see what he could do, expecting an expensive bill or an obituary. When I went to pick it up they had managed to fix it. The problem was with that thermostat housing again. I asked how much was the bill. He said, "Nothing. We did it under warranty." Zero. Nada. I said, "Are you kidding?" He wasn't. They didn't charge me for either parts or labour. What amazing service!!!! So if you are looking for the God of automotive repair shops, it is Amin's. Great work, done fast, by nice guys who are dead straight. Highly recommended. read more

These guys are the most honest stand up guys I've ever met - in the industry let alone in general! They never overcharge, the prices are always reasonable, they're fast, honest, reliable. We don't even live close by but we always come here because they are the only ones we trust. The only "con" I can say is that sometimes they can be too popular/too busy to look at my car. Recently this hasn't been an issue but during the busy times of the year it was challenging as there is only so much room in the for cars in the shop. But they really deserve the 5 star reviews, they are also a family owned shop which feels nice to support a local business. Amin and Riaz (father and son team) are really good at what they do and very kind too. I know nothing about cars and I've definitely been treated like the dumb girl shops try to up charge in the past. Not only are these guys not like that, but they've always been very kind and respectful when they need to break things down to me - and that really means a lot to me. My car was shaking above 70 mph, so I took my car in and the owner identified the problem immediately, got to work, and had the issue fixed the same day. I was only charged for the price of the new tires, and I didn't even see a labor charge on the bill. I went back a week later to fix a long overdue wheel bearing issue and once again, they fixed the problem in the same day, and I picked up the car with no problems. This place has no BS upcharges, no hidden nonsense, no strongarm suggestions about extra items that you don't need. I'm taking my car back to them to fix another long overdue issue with my exhaust, so I will update this review afterwards. Edit: I forgot to update this. They fixed the problem I had had for almost 7 years, so more kudos to them. read more

The positive reviews here are a mystery to me. I took my car into Amin's when my regular garage was too busy. The place seemed disorganized, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Someone finally came to the front desk, which was a mess of papers. I explained that my tires were deflating and the brakes seemed soft. No questions were asked. Nothing was entered into a computer. My name and phone number were written on a stickie-note. I was told to expect a call that morning. No one called so, that afternoon, I phoned. The car was ready to be picked up. I was told tire pressure was checked as were the brakes and no work was needed. I paid. No invoice was issued detailing any work done. Tires continued to deflate, and brakes continued to feel soft. I was finally able to get into my regular garage. Three of the tires were a write-off and had to be replaced. The front brake calipers and pads needed to be replaced. There was a rattle in the engine (same rattle that should have been noticed by Amin's when they drove my car across the street to park it), which was a damaged rear heat shield that needed to be replaced. My regular garage also patched a hole in the exhaust pipe. I received a computer-generated invoice which provided an itemized list of all work done, parts used and the cost of labour and materials. Needless to say, I won't be back to Amin's. read more

Outstanding service. They charged just $190 for brakepad replacement when Tremblay's quoted $550. This price was similar if not lower than my prior auto shop experiences. Also, they took me in immediately, showed me the physical issue so I could see for myself, and finished the job in 2 hours! Of all auto shops, this was the best experience. Great service, friendly, helpful and honest. These folks fix what you need and don't try to upsale you on things you don't need. My daughter drives an echo, it required some work, she doesn't have a lot of dough, we dropped off the car Saturday morning an hour later we get a call, everything was good, just needed an oil change and tire balancing. These guys are the most honest mechanics in town - I've been coming to them for years for all my auto repair needs and they have never tried to mislead or upsell me. Most recently, I brought my car in for an oil change and to have a flat tire repaired. They called me just an hour later telling me that my car was ready for pickup! They weren't able to find the leak in the tire, but inflated it for me and swapped it out with the spare I was running on without charging me a dime for it.
