I went to M&N when my mechanic nephew, who has looked after my car for years, moved to the Island. At M&N they are honest and VERY fair in fees for service. They will not sell you on things that you don't need, or inflate the prices of parts. They were able to take me right away and also did the needed repair very quickly. I will never go anywhere else and am so relieved to know I have a mechanic that I can trust. Thanks Sov!

They were upfront with what they could do based on the info they had and fixed some rodent damage on the first visit that the first shop didn't even notice. The guys at Ootmar answered all my questions with a lot of patience and passion for their work - they communicated really well and eventually helped to solve a problem with a dying crankshaft sensor. They provided a courtesy car as well, which was very nice. I'll definitely recommend them and go back the next time I need any work on my car!

Bro had a terrible attitude from the get go, annoyed that it was an EV, then LMK and I would have taken my business elsewhere. Had a very disappointing experience at this shop. I came in for a second opinion based on proximity…read moreand positive reviews, but ultimately left with a very bad impression. I initially came in for an oil change and asked the owner / owner's son, Riaz, to check a few items while the car was on the hoist: the belt drive, control arms, brake fluid, and brake pads. I was completely fine paying for an inspection, and he mentioned it would be easy to check since the car was already lifted. After the oil change, I was told that all of the above items needed attention. Based on his recommendation, I authorized the brake fluid service and belt drive replacement. The old belt was never shown to me after replacement. Regarding the brakes, I was told--both verbally over the phone and in writing on the invoice--that the brake pads were 1 mm in the front and 3 mm in the rear, and that they needed to be replaced ASAP. I found this odd and questioned it, but he doubled down and assured me this was accurate. I was quoted $550 per axle, trusted the assessment, and agreed. I was also given labor quotes for the work and asked to return once I purchased the pads and control arms. The labor pricing was on the higher side, though still lower than the dealership. The parts took about a week to arrive. Once the parts came in, I called around and found another shop that beat their pricing, so I dropped the car off there instead. Midway through the day, the new shop called me to ask whether I actually wanted to replace the rear brake pads, because they measured 6-7 mm remaining and didn't understand why they were being replaced at all. I have never experienced an auto shop calling to confirm work because they believed it was unnecessary and unreasonable. That alone speaks volumes. I returned to Amin's to see if they would make things right. When I first called, I was told, "What do you want us to do? The manager isn't here and won't be back for six weeks." After pushing back, I was told to come in and discuss it. When I arrived, Mr. Amin was extremely confrontational and stated that they "only eyeball the brake thickness." I explained that I came to their shop specifically for a professional opinion, and that I had written confirmation from their invoice stating the rear pads were 3 mm, which was clearly not the case. Had I not chosen to source my own parts, I would have been charged $1,100 for brake work that was not needed. I was ultimately told to "get lost and sue me if you want." There was no attempt to resolve the issue, no accountability, and no professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. im out money for parts and labor which i never needed.

I'm extremely disappointed after having this vehicle independently inspected…read more Before purchasing the car, I spoke directly with Tuan because he was the mechanic who had been servicing the vehicle. I was told that Tuan had actually inspected the car the DAY BEFORE I spoke with him, so I specifically asked him about the condition of the vehicle before making my decision to buy it. During our conversation, Tuan told me the car had a small exhaust leak. No other significant problems were mentioned to me. Given that I was speaking directly with the mechanic who had reportedly inspected this exact vehicle just the day before, I understandably put significant weight on what he told me. I was left with the impression that, aside from the small exhaust leak, there weren't any major issues I needed to be concerned about. Unfortunately, shortly after purchasing the car, I had it independently inspected and discovered a VERY different picture. The independent inspection found very worn control arm/subframe bushings, with the control arm issue considered urgent, front tires worn as low as 2/32", a coolant leak, a weak battery, old engine oil and a non-functioning centre brake light, among other maintenance concerns. Had Tuan not seen the vehicle recently, I could understand him not knowing its current condition. What concerns me is that I specifically contacted him because I was told he had inspected the car the previous day, yet the only issue mentioned to me was a small exhaust leak. I obviously cannot know exactly what was observed during that inspection or which issues Tuan was aware of, so I won't claim that I do. However, I find it extremely concerning that another inspection shortly afterward identified multiple problems--including an urgent suspension issue and front tires worn as low as 2/32"--that were never mentioned to me. Had I known about these issues, they absolutely would have affected my decision to purchase the vehicle and what I was willing to pay for it. Based on my experience, if you are considering purchasing a used vehicle that has been serviced or inspected here, I would strongly recommend getting an independent pre-purchase inspection before relying on the information you are given about its condition.

I really don't want to write a review on this place…read more It's always always always busy and they always make time for me somehow. I feel like by writing an honest review they are going to be slammed with new business and I'm not going to take my usual baby into the shop to get its tune-up. But... they deserve some great credit. It's East Van.. and that being my neighborhood, it usually means cheap. However, when it comes to my car... nothing is cheap. I was so lucky to be recommended this place, because my car has already had a few hiccups and they were right there to solve the problem for me. Somehow this owner has the handle on all the right parts at a great price, when I was paying 2-3 times more in Los Angeles for the same stuff. Labor prices are reasonable and they get the job done quickly. Most of all, they know their stuff, from American to German cars, they've done it all. The owner also spent time working on racecars. The real ones, not that Lamb you have in your garage, which is not a real race car. They also rebuild engines (I saw a Cayenne here the other day they were rebuilding, and a really old Benz), should you need that service. So I'm out with my secret. You can thank me later. There's also a good body shop on the same block.

Buddy had my car for a couple months trying to find parts. In that time his technician got into an accident with my car. Fine, they'll fix it and get to working on the real problem. Over the holidays, the owner of the shop decides to leave my vehicle on the street outside of his lot. Tuesday morning I get a call from VPD. "Sir, someone has broken into your car and your car is filling with rain. I call Arbutus service centre, leave a msg, don't hear back. I call back at noon the next day, speak to the owner. "Oh it's not my responsibility where your car is left, I won't be taking any responsibility for the damage caused." You couldn't even call me to give me the option to move my car out of your location if you didn't have time to work on it or it was taking space or was going to sit there over the holidays. That's what you do Steve, you call the client and say "hey, parts haven't come in, I don't have room to store your car, can you come pick it up? I'll call ya when the part is in and you can bring it back. You DON'T leave the vehicle on the street, quite simple. My car being broken into is not what bothered me, nor the fact that I trusted my vehicle with this mechanic or that I spent 5k and the mechanical issue still persisted. It was the shitty attitude and absolute lack of any ownership that made me loose 1000% respect for this person and his business. If that's the new norm, bring your car to a mechanic but you can't trust they'll keep your car safe, I call bullshit. Steve Hennessy, your behaviour, business practise and shit attitude after the fact.....poor poor poor absolutely sh** customer service. Your defiance, arrogance at how you practise business left me with the worst taste in my mouth. I am on my way out of this city and all you did was remind me why I cannot stand where humanity has reached. I looked at you, the experience and just thought "man, people are so awful" Had to scarp my car I was in love with. Now I don't have anything to move with. You ruined my last moth in Van. I hope you can live with this truth. It was in fact 100% your responsibility to keep my vehicle safe when you take that vehicle in. I trusted you to keep it safe. Had it been your own car, your mechanic left it on the street and someone broke into it, you'd be singing a different tune. But you weren't able to empathize were you? No, you just thought of yourself and how to cover your own ass. Since it's 2023, humanity is at its worst, you decided to screw me. Live with that. I strongly believe in karma and I believe yours will, has, is coming. Zero respect for you, absolute zero. You shouldn't advertise on your website things you simply do not practise. Lol your customers come first? Yeah right!
