Let me start by saying, "wow". I called and made an appointment for my Pontiac Vibe 09', VSC off light was flashing with Traction Light and Engine Light on as well, i needed a code reading with diagnostics so I called around to the usual suspects for some quotes... Canadian Tire - 149$ plus tax, my dealership at Dueck GM terminal ave. - 140$ plus tax, some other local automotive shops (I live in Port Coquitlam) gave you the read for free then wanted to charge you 80$ for diagnostics. Well Deckers ran the code scanner then did diagnostics and realized it was an on board computer glitch (most likely caused when the cars system needs updating) plus a small evap leak. They reset the flashing vsc off, traction and engine light then recommended that I take it more seriously if it happens again. "So what do I owe you?", I asked as I started mental cringing at the thought of forking over a hundred dollars for a less than fifteen minute job that turned out to be a glitching computer...... ready? --- 40$. Nuff said, Deckers now has a customer for life. I immediately tried to book an appointment to change my back breaks with them but the serviceman Mike took a peek with a flashlight and told me the pads were at about 30% so wait 2 more oil changes then come see him..... This WAS a GREAT local shop for years when the senior mechanic worked there, but he left last year and now it's really not up to its former standards. Unpleaseant receptionist and very young mechanics. Recently had my Forester in for an overdue maintenance. A number of lights not repaired, but apparently they all failed at the same time a few weeks later ??? Obviously did not check the alternator which must have been on its last days IF checked. It is now in another shop for replacement....engine filthy with no attempt to provide basic wipe down that usually showed the area had been inspected for problems. Charged me $600 for very shoddy work and 3.5 weeks later the alternator was toast and battery very low. Receptionist? Hey lady, we checked everything 3.5 well ago and all was working well...how should we guess the alternator was failing...you mean by checking the battery and the alternator? Guy at the desk says NO Potential Problems when they did a "full regular check up" but the shop now replacing the alternator has found a number of basic things overdue for repair ..again the car" just happened to need more work" after the $600. bill ? Ive been using Deckers for 10 years and had nothing but EXCELLENT SURVICE and a great neighbourhood shop that was recommended by my neighbour when we moved to Burnaby. Head mechanic quit when the staff turnover happened and I'm doing the same. Zero Customer Satisfaction. This shop has been repeatedly targeted over the last few months by theft attempts so reception agrees it's not safe to leave your keys overnights / just get it in ASAP in the morning. Once the " regular maintenance at $600." was completed, all at the unhappy parts formed a complaints union but they took too long ( 3.5 weeks) to figure out who was on the committee so it's all their fault nothing will be done at the shop to bring service up to normal expectations. SUV must have really enjoyed the time off from it's usual hard driving within a 15 mile range from our house to : dog food store in East Burnaby: to Byrne Road Park ( 8 minute drive from our house) : to go for a long daily dog walk, stopping on the way there or back at Save On for groceries. We avoided Covid like the Plague it is so virtual NO trips anywhe Warning : beware shops who don't guarantee their inspections and work for even one full week. How the Mighty have Fallen is the now the warning! I am a full time caretaker wife with zero car knowledge . The good news is that I can now tell the Alternator from the battery and how to open the front hood and I know thanks to BCAA tow truck mechanics, that the little front warning red battery sign means " it the Alternato Lady, Not your Battery ‍! Yes its tired, but you can replace it after you get the new Alternator. It's not Brain Surgery. Anyone with a great shop in the South Burnaby area willing to share yours ? read more

Very happy to say I have found a trusted mechanic! I had the compressor replaced in my 2011 Honda CRV. The price was reasonable and came in as quoted. But the service was above and beyond expectations! He noticed the baby seat in the car and went so far as cleaning the mats, whick was desperately needed and totally unexpected! I'm sorry to say that after some very difficult conversations today this is one of the most painful customer service experiences of my life. I spoke to one of their technicians that I've known for a long time, Mike and he mentioned that I could purchase my own exhaust manifold and they would install it and after a lot of words trying to get me off the phone because he doesn't want to answer my questions about what kind of manifold to get he reluctantly took my phone number and said their owner Wayne would call me. Wayne called me with a more stern voice than usual and eventually said that I was pissing them off for asking them to install the exhaust manifold and that I'm going behind his back. I took a deep breath as I was very frustrated that they were not being helpful as they usually are and told Wayne that I'm planning on spending $700 or $800 on this job here and don't appreciate the attitude and would appreciate an apology. Not only do they not apologize but basically told me that they are great and said that's it and then hung up the phone on me. I know they're backed up with customers today and they're having a hard day but it's not only confusing when one person is telling me they will do a job and the owner saying they won't do it and even that fighting with me on the phone telling me that I'm pissing them off going behind their back. Despite the fact I understand they need to purchase their own equipment I was not aware that I could not do that with them. Sorry guys you've lost me as your customer. read more

Had my oil changed one time . Two weeks later I go how come my steering wheel was all destroyed . They must of had grease on there hands and applied it on my steering wheel. They tried to take it off and as a result it detroyed my steering wheel and they didnt even tell me.That day I called them and they said 30 minutes it will be done. I waited one hour and a half . He said sorry I forgot to call you . That time they were cleaning my steering wheel and destroyed it. I will Never go to them again worst mechanics in burnaby read more

The staff was accommodating and very fair with their pricing. We brought our car in for brakes and after leaving them too long we assumed the worst but the mechanics were able to fix them and stay within our budget! Fantastic! Friendly, honest, professional service. We brought our car in to get the brakes replaced. We called a few different locations, and these guys were giving us the best price. On top of that, we had been told by the dealership (Destination Honda Burnaby) where we bought our car that the front rotors would have to be replaced along with the brake pads. Deckers replaced our brake pads, and were honest about the fact that the rotors did not need replacing...even though they were aware that the dealership told us they would have to be replaced. They could have easily taken advantage of us but didn't. Needless to say we will be bringing our cars here from now on. Keep up the great work, and the honesty! read more

I have been taking my car to Decker's Automotive for the past 10 years. My experience has been that they are very honest, they don't overcharge and they do good work. They never try to sell you anything that you don't absolutely need and their labour rates are reasonable. Have you ever lost a wheel while you were driving? 2 weeks ago I went to deckers auto to get my brake pads changed out, they did a great job working around my busy schedule and allowed me to drop off the car and pay over the phone via credit card. A couple days later I called in because of a squeaking noise I had been hearing from my rear driver side tire, I called the shop and they said bring it in and we will take a look. I left the vehicle there overnight on a Friday and one of their shop technicians looked at it the saturday morning, I came in and talked to him, he seemed unsure of what the exact issue was, told me he took it out for a drive and also noticed it wasn't right. That particular day there was nobody else more experienced than him in the to take a look as I believe he might have been an apprentice(not sure why someone like that would be left unsupervised), he told me to come back Monday. I asked him if it was okay to drive, and he said there shouldn't be a problem. Seeing how he was unsure of what was wrong, I got in the vehicle and headed to another shop to get a second opinion. On my way there, not even ten minutes after leaving the shop, my tire flew off of my truck, wheel went 5-600 meters straight into a ditch as the vehicle screeched to a stop on the pavement. Luckily I wasn't going very fast and nobody got hurt nor did I cause an accident. I got the vehicle towed back to deckers, shop was closed early so nobody to look at it until after the weekend. I calmly went in Monday morning and explained the situation to one of the shop leaders, and I left it at that, waited for their call later that day. I received bad news later on saying that my rear diff had went, talking to them back and forth for a couple days, they didn't have the expertise to do it at their shop so they were looking for someone that could do it for a reasonable price. After talking to several shop owners and getting different opinions on how to deal with everything, I decided it was best to take it elsewhere, at no point during the situation did I receive and apology regarding anything that had happened, they did not take blame for the wheel flying off, and the damage that was caused to the rim. They also failed to compensate me for the tow truck fees and haven't contacted me since I took the truck away. I will NEVER use decker's automotive. read more

I love Decker's. I have tried so many mechanics in Burnaby and this is the only one that I have ever actually trusted. My car had a re-occuring problem, and other mechanics kept just replacing the part, and ever 5-6 months, the part would crack again. Wayne actually was interested in fixing the disease, not just the symptom. THEY ALSO TIDIED THE INSIDE. That was above and beyond. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was worth the money to tow it to Decker's rather than try to get it to the closest mechanic. The prices were very reasonable, and Wayne took the time to show me what went wrong. Thank you guys! Finding an honest mechanic who is willing to work at reasonable rates is increasingly more difficult. I have had my car looked after at Decker's on a few occasions, and if I ever have any additional concerns, they are sure to address them. The thing I love most about this place, is they don't try to sell you what you don't need - they don't replace things that don't need actual replacing. They do only what you ask of them, and what requires to be done. It's a small and busy shop which means it's sometimes difficult to reach them, or maybe you'll have to stand around longer than at a dealership, but just think of the savings. It's all worth while. Wow, where to begin? These guys are amazing! I'd been having some electrical issues with my car for quite some time (head and signal lights and wipers not working) and my basic checks on fuses and bulbs all seemed fine. I took to Yelp to try and find a mechanic that knew what they were doing with electrical work and after reading the reviews I thought I'd definitely give it a try! (As an aside, when it comes to reviews for mechanics, there's a lot of people who expect miracles for free and write angry reviews when they don't get them. So for a shop to have almost perfect reviews like this, it says a lot!) Anyways, back to the story, I phoned up for an appointment and they were very accommodating in working around my schedule as I need the car every morning. They set me up for the next day actually. So far so good, seems like it's going well. So when I went in the next day, they BLEW me out of the water with great customer service. Both Wayne and Mikel were extremely helpful, too the time to listen to me as I described the problem and asked really good questions. No taking the car and guessing, they made sure they knew exactly what was going on before going to work. I short order, they had the whole thing fixed in 3-4 hours, as good as new! They brought me a couple of updates as they worked which was really nice and afterwards Mikel walked me through the repairs that they'd done and made sure that I understood. (short story: some bad grounds and bad previous repairs done by someone else caused some shorts that melted a bunch of wires) And finally, if you're wondering if they're expensive? Definitely not. It was an incredibly fair price and worth every single penny. Then here is where they really stood out. I had gone home and realized that my insurance decals weren't with my papers. I thought I might have dropped it in the store somewhere accidentally, so I called back and asked if they'd seen it. Wayne actually specifically set apart some time the next morning to look for it. Unfortunately it wasn't' there, so it must have fallen out somewhere else, but seriously, what a great experience! Brought my truck to these guys to re and re my headers was told it would cost 275. No matter how many bolts were broke by Colin in the office so I booked it in for Saturday cause I work 6 days a week money is tough and can't take days off to fix my truck brought it in at 8.30 am told the guys I would just wait it took them till 3.00 to do the work when they were done it was ticking and I said that's not right then Wayne told me it is my header it is twisted and it has a hole in it witch is not what was wrong and then tells me he is going to charge me 600. For what they have done I said I only bought 400 because it supposed to cost 275+ tax and he said that he'll take 400 then which was disgusting because he never even fixed my truck he told me to go and get the hole welded and the noise will go away so I got the whole welded 15 minutes after they did the work check the bolts that they installed they were all loose I spent four hours taking apart the covers to check all the bolts bolts were so loose that I could turn them with my fingers after I tighten the bolts the headers stopped leaking this place is a rip off and they do not care about what they do to your vehicle I would never take the car back there I don't suggest you do either they will rip you off and take you for ride The owner of the place kept complaining swearing and telling me that he could be making some real money doing real work not a family place read more

I initially came to Decker's because I needed my clutch replaced and had called around and they gave me the best quote. They got the work done right away and I haven't gone to another mechanic since. When I was new to the area I went to various mechanics and always got overcharged for oil changes or the doom and gloom speeches about how I needed this expensive work done right away or else my car will fall apart. I generally have difficulty finding a good mechanic because I don't know a whole lot about cars and its hard for me to tell what work work is really essential. I love Decker's because no matter who I talk to they explain everything to me very simply but not in a condescending way. They always tell me what they found wrong with the car, how much each things will cost, and which things are essential or what can wait for a later day. I really appreciate that in a world where it seems every mechanic is trying to sell me something I don't need. read more
