Decided to try this place out based on the good reviews. Took my car in for a straight forward ICBC repair and the courtesy car they gave me was a piece of junk (2001 BMW) We could not make it from Richmond to Vancouver without stopping about 10 times because the car was leaking coolant and severely overheating to the point of smoke coming from the engine. It took forever to get home cause we had to keep pulling over lest the car burst into flames. We called them the next day (they closed after we left) and complained and they had the audacity to ask us to drive the car back to the shop so they could switch it out for us. Are we supposed to buy more coolant and fill it up every few mins? Like WTF should we fix your leaky car too? I remember them topping up the coolant too before we left the shop so that makes we wonder if they knew the car had issues and still lent it out... My husband let him have it over the phone and we finally got a decent replacement dropped off the next day. I'm done with these guys. Second last time I went there, the 'fix' on my car took 20 minutes without any parts. They charged me .80 hrs of labour. - Ok, so, I swallowed the bitter pill and went again. - Booked 1 week in advance, for 10am today - and they basically, didn't fix my car, because of lack of time and space. Why did they book me in and throw my day outta whack? Very disorganized, and it cost me time and money away from work. A simple coolant flush was going to take 6 HOURS!!! No respect for a repeat customer (me) and a serious lack of respect for my valuable time. Their excuses are just moot at this point. Done and done. I will also report back to their other customers that referred me in the first place. I guarantee you they will not go back either, based on my last 2 experiences there.. On top of it, they had the gall to try and charge me 70 bucks for nothing. I refused too pay, and the front desk guy tore up the work order and threw it on the floor because he was not winning his argument vs. my rationale. DONE and DONE! read more

Been to this shop twice. Victor and his team were nice and friendly. First time it was for a 4 wheel alignment. Although it took a bit longer than expected due to machine not working at first, their tech was friendly and was willing to help me do some inspection on the suspension (I changed out all suspension parts myself). I did not make an appointment but they were able to fit me into their schedule right away. Second time, I visited because my window got smashed. I called my usual autobody and they turned me away because they were full for the next two weeks (very disappointed by their attitude). So I called up Grand Performance and they asked me to come in. Within half an hour, victor gave me multiple options on the window and gave me a great pricing. (I have an 1991 Civic so finding a window is harder than usual). Told me that glass will arrive at 2pm and will have the car done by 3pm. Came back to a shiny new window with many little problems fixed. Will recommend this shop to anyone. Great friendly staff. Ok repair job. Had to take the car back two time to fix the details that was ignored during repair. According to the person i talked to who is also the estimator of the shop, he's the only person that does post repair quality check. But he only works 4 day a week so when he's not on the cars would not get quality checked before released to customer. I think they are overwhelmed by the amount of cars going in for repair and skipped on quality/reputation for quick profit. Very short sighted move. read more

Earlier this year my younger brother reversed the car into a pole, cracking the rear bumper open on our Honda Fit. Took the car to at least a dozen different auto body shops in Richmond. A few places said they could repair the bumper but as it had been repaired once before with subpar results, we opted for a new one. Price from shop to shop varied but it was looking like at least +$900 for a new OEM/ OEM+ bumper; unfortunately no aftermarket parts. This all changed when I went to Grand Performance. Never been there before nor heard of it but I drive past it often. Stopped in to get an estimate & spoke to Victor. He took a look at the bumper & quoted a price that beat out everyone else in the city. I came back a week later and dropped off the car. Not even 3 days after I dropped off the car was the work done! The bumper was installed properly (no gaps etc.) and looked perfect on the car. Everyone at GPA was polite and professional. Going to the autoshop has always been one of the most stressful things for me, especially in the last little while - when my car broke down on me multiple times, in the middle of the road, out of nowhere, whilst driving. I still remember taking the car back to my old mechanic 4-5 times (in a matter of a week and a half!), and each time he would assure me that the car was okay to drive. I would then find out that was indeed, not the case, the day after, when my engine continued to shut down on me on my way to work in the dark wintery morning. I still remember asking him "is this drivable?" when he called me to pick up the car, after visiting him multiple times, and he would always look at me with a puzzled look as if he couldn't fathom why I would be asking such a ridiculous queston. Instead of leaving a negative review on yelp for my old mechanic, I decided to leave a positive one for GrandPerformance instead. I actually didn't know of GrandPerformance until recently, when I had to deal with a collision and was referred to a list of ICBC accredited autoshops. When I researched autoshops in Richmond, their reviews on yelp were all so promising so I decided to try it out. All I can say is wow:) Their friendly customer service and calming(**) atmostphere pleasantly surprised me, because I am so used to being rushed in and out of the shop without really understanding what was the matter with the car. They really take the time to explain things and to follow up. In terms of pricing, I believe they are reasonable too. (**) I never thought I'd use the word "calming" to describe an autoshop! Just thought I'd leave a note here, especially for those who are not very familiar with the mechanical side of things when it comes to cars:) I think having professional people acting professionally really helps alleviate a lot of stress for those of us who don't really speak the CAR language. I had a collision repair with them about 6 years ago and had a good experience with Victor so when I saw that they do winter tires I thought I would give them a try again. What a terrible experience when I was helped by the owner John. I called about 3 weeks ago to ask for pricing and he told me that they do store tires and the cost would be $60 for the year. I booked an appointment and came in to get my winter tires this week. The first person that helped me had no clue that I had an appointment so he went to get John. When he called me to tell me my vehicle was ready I asked him again to confirm that he can store my tires and said yes the cost will be $80/year. Ok so the price went up $20 in the 3 weeks since, sure I can understand that as prices can change. I went to pick up my vehicle about 2 hours after the call and was ready to tell him to store the tires but then he tells me now it's $90/year, that it went up because he is running out of room. So their prices change by the hour now? Even after they quoted you a price earlier in the day. Of course I didn't do it. When I got in my vehicle I saw that they put the tires in my vehicle without bags, so in my back seat there were tires just sitting on my leather seats now covered in dirt. AVOID THIS PLACE, give your money to Costco or Canadian Tire or something because they oblivious don't honor what they say. read more

During the christmas holidays my BMW X6 was rear-ended in Richmond. My friend recommended me to Grand Performance which was neaby and conveniently located on River Road and Capstan Way. When i got their, Victor the bodyshop manager was really kind and patient to help me process a claim with ICBC and had a rental car ready for me to drive away in. After a week later, I recieved my car back and was quite pleased and happy with the repairs done on my vehicle. Victor thoroughly went through the repairs that was done and also pointed out a few repair flaws that was done by another bodyshop from my last accident. During the first week of Jan, I had Grand Peroformance repair those flaws cuz I didnt trust my last bodyshop and on top of that the repair cost was really low which didnt empty-out my wallet. I also took my gf's honda accord to Grand Performance cuz they also do mechanical repairs. For the longest time, the car had a intermit stalling problem and the dealership couldnt figure it out. She had brought the car to honda 4 times!!! and still could not find the problem. Each time she brought it in, it was left their for the entire day!! She was extremely dissatisfied with their results and wasted the time to take the vehicle in to the shop. Worst of all, they dont even provide a courtesy car for her to drive off in. She didnt want to drive the car and have it stall out on her especially on the highway. We left the vehicle with John the Service Manager at Grand Performance for a few hrs and they gave us a courtesy vehicle to drive in. After a few hrs, PRESTO!! they found the problem. The problem was within the transmission. When it reached a certain gear ratio the transmission would stall out the vehicle intermittently. Grand Performance is the place to be at and trust with Body Repairs and Mechanical Repairs. They certainly went the distance for us and was quite courteous every step of the way. Grand Performance has definitely gained our respect and business. We'll definitely recommend them to our friends and family. read more

I was in an accident and my front end was totally smashed. Took it to an autobody shop in Richmond and the cosmetic part of the job was done but heard a noise coming from the engine that wasn't there before so I thought it was caused by the accident. The manager at the autobody shop could not diagnose the problem.. So I was sent away. Called Icbc and told them the story, they told me to go see a mechanic . Went online and searched and Grand Performance came up.. Very close to my house which was perfect! Went in and after 10 mins they diagnosed the problem.. The water pump! They were quick to fix it and told me that they had misquoted me and the actual price was lower than what they quoted me! It's always nice to hear that! Very nice and honest people that work there. Being a girl.. It sucks to walk into a garage not knowing the cost of anything so i would've paid the higher amount ... But thank you to Victor for being so honest! Really can't say enough nice things about this place. They took the time to explain the problem, going over a printout with a diagram. They gave a lower estimate than any other places and stuck with it, often throwing in some extras out of sheer goodwill. The owner and employees are very friendly, polite, and welcoming, not to mention accommodating about when the car can be dropped off and picked up. The location itself is convenient, close to Aberdeen station, so for me it really is worth the drive to Richmond from Vancouver and then just hop on the sky train to get to work. I'm hoping to not require any more costly repairs-touch wood- but am planning on bringing my car there for routine oil changes and the like from now on. read more

Fabulous experience of dealing with this company for my first time to repair my Lexus front bumper due to accident damage! The staff was courteous and thorough to explain to me about the possible variation in ICBC coverage, as the damage could not be visualized without taking the bumper off. My car was swiftly repaired and painted to match perfectly within three days. A minor repair (of a missing button to close the panel inside my trunk) was thrown in, out of the courtesy of Victor. I was there for an icbc claim and the customer service there was pretty good except the mechanic was really terrible. Besides driving back and forth 3 to 4 times my car needed extra repair which was not necessary. A part was my fault since I didn't check the front signal light since the weather was really sunny then I notice it at night I don't have any signal lights on. I end up going back to them again. I thought after reading other customer's review would find me a better place next time I will be careful of what I read. By the way I would give them 5 stars if the mechanic didn't wipe his small nose booger's over my steering wheel and if he could fix my car properly. Additional work that I wanted done on my SUV was quoted half the price compared to two other places I went. Victor was great and I'm very happy with outcome of my vehicle. July 15/14 I had my car repaired from an accident caused by myself but covered by ICBC with my paying a deductable. I also had Grand Performance repair all of the scratches and small bumps in my car and on my bumpers that just got there. I also asked for a full detailing of the car. The detailing of the outside came with the work and the inside was completed after the work was completed. John the staff member serviced me when I took my car into the Centre could not have been more helpful. Nelson went around the car with me explaining what would be done to each place where there was to be repair/painting. A price for the items I wanted done was discussed and agreed upon. John at the front explained the process in total and gave me a loaner vehicle and off I went. A couple of phones calls regarding ICBC questions were discussed and agreed upon. I went in at the end of the wesk to check on the car and it was not finished and I was courteously shown the car and spoke to about the time frame for finishing. Today I picked up my car which looked liked new and was again greeted with smiles and professionalism. The agreed upon amount for the work was exactly as discussed. The workmanship is excellent and now I am driving a new looking car that is an '07. All were professional, courteous, honest, and gave service with a smile. I just had my winter tires changed at Grand Performance. After researching hours online about the best tires and best quotes, GP gave us the best advise and at the same time beat all the other estimates from major tire websites. Staffs are friendly, patient and professional. There's no language barrier because they speak virtually all the possible languages. Facility is nice and convenient. I shopped around and had estimates ranging from $600 - $800 which was a little more than what I was willing to put down, especially since I wasn't claiming it. In the past, I have always been hesitant and distrusting when it comes to car repairs, mechanics, auto body, you name it. Perhaps it's because I know very little about cars and have been ripped off in the past because of that. I came into Grand Performance just a couple of weeks ago after my car stalled right in the middle of No.3 Road, during rush hour of all times. What a nightmare...almost got killed on that frickin road. There I was running around trying to get someone to help me push the car out of the way. Unable to get a volunteer, I walked down Capstan and around the corner where I saw Grand Performance. I entered the office and briefed them on my predicament. Victor and John Law rounded up some of the guys and manually pushed my car from that nightmare No.3 Road. Back at the shop they attended to my car without making me wait, gave me a loaner car for the evening and fixed the car by the next day. Victor and John explained to me in layman terms of what was done to my car, showed me what was done to my car and the broken parts.
